llare, hope you're feeling better this morning and had a restful sleep. About Lost: we stopped watching the last series and I was starting to think like you (that I didn't care what happened). glad to hear you say it so I know I'm not missing anything.

Belgina, hope you also got a well-deserved night's sleep. just reading your post about catching a baby made me tear up. I'm so nostalgic about having H. I keep thinking how it felt when she arrived safe and sound. and how what I started to think of the pregnancy as a 'mistake' has now become a 'happy surprise' and a 'miracle' . sigh.

LadyH, hope the teething situation is better today and you, too, had a good sleep.

thanks for asking about the anxiety. i defn slept better after the colonoscopy good results on mon but still wake up briefly with a bit of panic... I just can't figure out why. am doing a bit of self CBT (from a book, web course) which is helping a bit. much, much better than a few weeks ago.

reggiee, great news that the loft is finished. glad hosp visit was ok and at 'songstar vagina'...

flippin, hope you're better today and A gives you a bit of a break from the clinginess (it's a stage, it's a stage ).

hinny, excellent news about the job. Think how much they value you to create a job for you - you don't EVER need toworry about 'disappointing'. full stop. you're brilliant (all of us here know it).

picking up girls this evening after stopping at IKEA [is-she-mad-to-go-on-a-saturday emoticon].

hope all are well and check back in later.

SinginHinny · 13/03/2010 10:17

wanna go Ikea wanna go Ikea wantmeatballswantmeatballs wanna buy cupsandglassesandplatesandshinythings wanna go Ikea

have fun!

HeadlessLadyH · 13/03/2010 10:23

Worst night EVER. R unsettled till 11, but ok.Then he cried and bucked until 3.30am, with about 45 mins of sleep hidden away in there somewhere. This was despite the max doses of calpol and nurofen alternatively. 3.30am, DH takes over (that was the agreement - I took the first shift). R had cried himself hoarse by this time (it broke my heart listening to him, I can tell you) so gave him a drink, some more calpol, then the little blighter slept till 7am.

In the meantime, DS1 wet the bed so bedding had to be changed and DS1 returned to bed twice.

On the up side, I did get ooooh 3 1/2 hours uninterrupted sleep.

Sorry its me me me me. WIll be back later.

Hope everyone has good weekends!

youngerthanspringtime · 13/03/2010 10:52

LadyH, please try to relax today and get a nap if you can or get out by yourself for at least 20 min.

singin, I'll pick you up some meatballs.

belgina · 13/03/2010 10:54

Morning all,

Some impressive NC on here again. I think fi set the tone last week with her monster post

Thanks for the new baby messages. It was a lovely big boy. I'm sort of proud of myself because I prevented a big tear otherwise the birth was a little bit dissapointing as far as births go, because I sort of got to the room, caught the baby and left and never got to go back due to all sorts of things going on. It feels unfinished IYKWIM. Lovely to see nbs again though. It makes me realise just how much C has grown

headless Sorry about your bad night. Hope you get to nap or something today

singing Congrats re the job. I'm sure you wont dissapoint.

younger Have fun at Ikea. Did you know there's an anxiety thread on MN. Maybe that can be helpfull re advice?

C wasn't too bad last night. Just as well, I needed some rest. She "only" woke at 2.30 and 5.30 and then up for the day at 6.30. Oddly enough she's still not showing signs of tiredness.
I also gave her a haircut today. She's now tog a lovely shoulderlength bobby sort of do, rather than a nearly waist length mullet
Later today we'll go school shoe shopping to replace ds's lost shoe and this evening we're goimg to a st patrick's day school fundraising meal. Should be fun I think.

Have a good day everyone

SinginHinny · 13/03/2010 13:10

Bows head as a mark of respect to the passing of C's mullet.

HeadlessLadyH · 13/03/2010 15:16

LOL at the passing of the mullet. Had spotted it in belgina's photos and was slightly in awe of it!!

younger and belgina thank you for your tea and sympathy. I have managed to have a bit of a lie down so feel a bit better. R has had two good naps in his cot today and have been and stocked up on teething gel and the pharmacist recommened some powders so got some of those aswell. Surely after 3 nights the teeth will be through??????

reggiee am excited about your loft for you. And another LOL at singstar vagina. Don't laugh too much though or you could (ahem) wee a bit!

hinny yay for your work. Have you said when you start?

llare hope you are feeling better now too.
I have last nights Losts to view, probably tomorrow (it was a bit of a sunday night tradition in our house). We've watched all of them so far and I just need to know the answers but its still bloody confusing. I can't get my head round most of it. Are you a Jack or Sawyer woman? Do you even care??!!!

flip aarghhhh separation anxiety. Lovely (as in they love me so much I can't beout of their sight)yet frustrating when you can't even go for a wee without an audience or a soundtrack of wailing. Fortunately R is only clingy when not feeling well but I have a feeling that it will hit soon. The signs are there.

Who else? Who else? I'm on limited time!

DS1 has gone for a party till 5 and DH has taken R to the park for a go on the swings ( oooohhhh he looked so cute in his hat - R not DH !!!- as he left) and I am going for a run. Oh yes. Inspired by llare, have decided that I should get my trainers on. I've not run since at least November. Been doing gym and spinning, but its not quite the same as a good pound of the pavements. The sun is out even though its cold. Perfect running weather. Be back in about 40 mins, sweating and unable to breathe!!! I should even have enough time for a peaceful bath after if I go now - I feel like my birthdays have all come at once!

SinginHinny · 13/03/2010 15:31

How did I miss Reg's singstar vagina?

I just severely compromised my pelvic floor reading about it. Although I am sympathetic too.

Headless I hope you had a good run. I am in awe of you runnin' ladies. I manage a jog to the cupboard/kitchen occasionally but most of my exercise is hefting S abaaaaaaaaart.

So I bought S a push-along/sit-on hippo that's the very epitome of groove and funk. What is she playing with?

A cardboard box and a skanky old baby that was bought in a jumble sale for DD1 about 10 years ago.

and again and once more for good measure

essenceofSES · 13/03/2010 16:19

Hello!!

Belgina - wow! Is that our first haircut on the thread?! The rate O's hair is growing (v slowly and v fine) I don't think he'll be getting a haircut for another year!!
Congrats on getting back into the swing of things with work. I think if I worked with newborns, I'd be toooooo broody!
Are you happy with the AP working out now?

Hinny - Great NC!
That's great news about work! Must make you feel valued. (Quite right too!)

LadyH - a run??! After the night you had??!! Huge respect!

younger - hope Ikea wasn't too chaotic! Buy anything good?

Febes - thank goodness you got heating and hot water sorted! Hope you had a good meal last night? What did you order in?

LLare - hope you're not feeling too ill today. There's so much going around at the moment. Since O has been at nursery, we've either been in the process of getting colds, getting rid of colds or in the middle of a cold. Hopefully it will calm down soon!

flippin - 3 days of ILs with no DH??!! That would be my idea of hell and my ILs are pretty good! Hope it goes ok.
Separation anxiety is v frustrating and O has only suffered in occassional episodes. You have my synpathies.

Reggiee - ROFL at songstar vagina
Great that your loft is sorted though.

Spangle - I'd been wondering whether O had been having a growth spurt recently...

Oman - latest is that they like DH's CV but are concerned he doesn't have any experience of working in the Middle East before They're still thinking about it. So are we! I don't know what I'd do! I think I'm most worried about just being stuck in a strange home with O and nothing to do all day. LadyH and hinny - thank you for your comments. It has made me a little more positive about the whole thing!

Right, must go and get O's tea. Hope you're all having good wkends. I'm off out tonight with the NCT girls

llareggub · 13/03/2010 16:29

Definitely a Sawyer woman, Headless. Though Jim from Neighbours has the edge on them both! I know what you mean about just needing to know now. Is anyone watching The Good Wife? It is so, so good and has the cute one from Dead Poets Society in it.

I am feeling a little better so took DS1 for a swim. He did his first length so we celebrated with a hot chocolate. He was so pleased with himself. I do think I need to be careful with him. He is so easily led; I watched him watching the bigger boys at the pool and I could see he really wanted to join in with them on the big floats. I suspect he is going to be a real sucker for going with the crowd when he is older. He is shattered now though, and very stroppy so we've nicknamed him Sir Whingealot.

Headless well done on the running. I can't wait to get back out there when my cold is better. I haven't been since Wednesday and I've missed it.

Ses I hope ypu on't have to wait too long for a decision.

Hinny I'm so glad you had good news about work. I'm back in April too.

Belgian are the photo of the haircut?

belgina · 13/03/2010 17:57

singing Pics on fb now Lol at bows head Must say it has taken me a long time to finally have the courage to cut the mullet

Sorry. Gotta go. C's trying to take over the computer.

runningmonkey · 13/03/2010 18:22

Evening all, bookmarking so I can catch up later.
Hope all ok xx

evening.. sorry i've not made it back on. dh has been hogging the laptop so i've been cracking on with testing one of my old hand written crochet patterns.. it's a swing style coat in fluffy aran weight yarn. so far so good and just 1/2 the back & one front to go. When i've got the pattern ready to go i'll upload a photo or 2. btw I need a crocheter to try the proof read/ pattern out.. so If anyone wants to have a go i'd give you a free copy of it but you'd need to buy your own yarn to make it. when you've seen it.. let me know If you or someone you know want to have a go?
As i'm on my phone i'm not going to manage a mammoth NC
i'm sorry to hear about the sleepless nights.. fingers crossed tonights is much improved for all.
belgina awww at catching your 1st nb this year i'll have to check out the photos of c's new bobby dazzling hair do
ses oman! oh man! exciting news but nerve wracking too!
G's cruising.. not any bumps noggin wise but plenty topple n wobble followed by bum tidi bump on di bum
oh and started as a jack but defected to sawyer!
how's everyone tonight?

FiByTheIcySea · 13/03/2010 21:04

oh and reggie i both & at song star vagina!

flippinegg · 13/03/2010 22:19

Right, I will attempt a better NC this time!

younger - IKEA? On a Saturday? but slightly .

fi - yay to G and the cruising!

reggiee - rofl at songstar vegina!

belgina - well done on your first birth! And loving C's haircut. A has a lopsided mullet, well, she's got one very very long tuft on one side!

headless - at your running. I miss it, last time I ran was when I was 11 weeks pregnant with DD1! I miss cycling too, have done that a lot more recently, but even that hasn't been for a year.

fi - is it easy tolearn to crochet? I can knit badly, but have never tried crochet. Any tips/book recommendations?

Related to that, I went to look at the gym today, it looks lovely. But it is more expensive than DH or I expected so it might not be a goer. However, the counsellor told me on Thursday that she is able to refer me to our local authority leisure a centre for a fit for life type programme. I'd seen it advertised, but it never occurred to me that I'd qualify - stress/anxiety/depression are qualifying conditions. It isn't the luxury gym experience, but you do get 1-1 support and a greatly reduced rate.

flippinegg · 13/03/2010 22:31

Drat, should check before I post! My stuff about the gym etc isn't connected to crocheting at all, it's much more connected with headless' running!

DH is lovely. He's due a bonus at work soon. Not massive, but quite pleasant. I assumed we'd save it as we hope to move house at some point this year, but he said he had three ideas for spending it. First two were for house things (for this house, not a potential house), then he went quiet, so I asked what the third was. He said an eternity ring for me! I'm not getting one now, because apparently he went to the jewellers today, and the bonus isn't quite enough for what he wants to get me. A lot of people would say that was just an excuse, but I don't think it is. I know that's a bit of a non-story, but I was quite excited by it!

flippinegg · 13/03/2010 22:40

Talking to myself tonight! Heop everyone is ok, and you all have peaceful nights and very lovely Mother's Days.

Night!

llareggub · 13/03/2010 22:49

OOoh how lovely flippineck. It isn't a non-story at all. When you least expect it he'll pull that ring out his pocket, I bet. I wonder if he was just checking your reaction?

Exercise and gym certainly helps my mental health, I'm sure of it.

SinginHinny · 13/03/2010 23:37

Sorry flip I'm here but slack-jawed with confusion and boredom thanks to one of the Matrix sequels.

Exercise does wonders for depression-related stuff. Wonders I tell thee.

And your DH? I welled up at your post. What a lovely, lovely man.

This film is so crap.

belg I looked at the photos. Oh I love her so much. But mourn the mullet . I am so as S's hair just hasn't grown. DD2 had the most amazing black hair as a baby. I think I expected the same of S

FiByTheIcySea · 14/03/2010 06:56

suddenly got v tired last night so headed off to sleep.
Happy Mothers Day! hope everyone have good ones x

FiByTheIcySea · 14/03/2010 07:40

flippin I learnt to knit at 5yrs old. but never got round to learning to crochet until i was 32yrs. if i'd realised how easy it was i'd have taken it up long before! i am not a very quick knitter but found i was slightly faster at crochet.. with the bonus of not having stitches that i could drop. i learnt from an old book i already had.. taught myself from the pictures. when I set up my blog i found vodpod and there a an awful lot of videos on there showing all the crochet basics. when i've the laptop on tonight i can post some links. wow! how lovely of your dh to even think about an eternity ring and free gym has to be better than no gym?
hinny i'm with you on the sequels.. 1st watch of them was enough for me let alone a repeat..

belgina · 14/03/2010 08:08

Happy Mother's Day everyone!

Hmm, my tummy is feeling a bit delicate after that Irish night we went to last night. No Guinness for me, because I don't like the stuff, but plenty of wine. C woke me up and I decided to get up at 7, because I was hungry. So no Mother's Day lie in or breakfast in bed or anything for me here.

flip Your DH sounds lovely. How wonderful to think of you when he got his bonus . Also great news re the gym. Excercise [bad spelling emoticon] is very good for mild depression and anxiety, so I'm not surprised you qualify. Our local council gym is actually not much different from the private one around the corner, so I don't think it'll make all that much difference and the end result will definitely be the same

singing Aww, thank you. I think C's lovely too, but I'm a bit biased C's hair was a pleasant surprise to me, because I expected the oposite after hairless dd1. BTW your S is a beautiful baby too. Your latest pictures were gorgeous

fi You've given me hope re knitting/crochetting if you learnt at 32, because I am 32 now. And after seeing running's cardi I'd been thinking about learing myself. Looking forward to your tutorial links you promissed to post.

I'm a bit worried about dd1. This will be a bit TMI, but I'm worried. Yesterday we came home and the ap had waited up especially for us, because when she put dd1 to bed she noticed her pants were dirty and it looked very much like blood. I've had a look at them too and it really did look like dried blood. This morning I've inspected her bits and she's got no injuries or anything, so I can only think it got there vaginally. The shape of the stain looks like a mini period too, IYKWIM. This morning there wasn't any more blood, but I'm definitely going to keep an eye on it. Does anyone remember their 1st period? I vaguely remember mine and it being very short lasting. I had noticed she's had a lot of discharge for the last year or so, but thought that was normal. I don't remember whether I had discharge at the age of 5-6 or not, but maye it isn't normal and a sign that she's moving to early puberty? TBH I had already been worrying about her sudden loss of self confidence recently. Maybe it's connected? I think saus if you're around, maybe you can give me a bit of advice? I think I remember you said this sort of thing is what you dealt with at work, isn't it?

SinginHinny · 14/03/2010 08:45

Happy Mothers' day all!

I'm up with DD2. DH is snoring away with S. DD2 gave me a huge hug for Mothers's Day, which was all I needed , although she had made me the most 'fablious' card at school. She's drawn a picture of me on it with pink high heels on.

belg I don't really have any advice wrt your DD, DD1 is 12 next month and hasn't started her periods yet and I was about 12/13 I think? I hope she's ok. And thank you for admiring S, I can't get enough admiring comments.

I'm feeling restless today. All the talk of crafting has made me want to create something. I think my creation will have to be edible. I'm torn between chocolate cheesecake and a carrot cake lathered in cream cheese frosting. Oh and some cheese biscuits that are dangerously edible.

That's reminded me - YOUNGER Oi, Over here Oi oi oi!!!!! Can you tell me what Graham Crackers are? Are they a bit digestive-y? Why can I not buy them here with their lovely rectangular shape?

Have to go, DD2 has a 'special dance' to show me.

FiByTheIcySea · 14/03/2010 08:56

morning belgina no lie in here either DS came bouncing into our room at 5.30am this am.. and G at 6 for her feed. good job i fell asleep early last night..
i got my 1st period at 12 I think.. can't remember anything about discharge i'm afraid.. sorry.
when G goes to have her am nap soon i'll post the crochet video links.. i'll see if there are any new good uns too.

llareggub · 14/03/2010 09:27

Belgina I am in no way knowledgeable on this subject so please treat this with caution, but could it be her hymen? Has she been particularly active lately? Horse-riding, perhaps? I do remember as a child overhearing my mother talking about a discharge that I had and they concluded it was because I was "sporty." I don't know how old I was or any of the details however.

Hello to everyone, and happy mothers day. I hope that you were all suitably spoilt, especially those who are celebrating for the first time.
