Here you go ladies.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SpangleMaker · 10/03/2010 10:32

muddled good luck for today, hope it goes well. Glad you got your oven fixed. We went for nearly 3 months without a hob while building our extension, we just had a combi oven/microwave. I kept buying things then realising we couldn't cook them. Thinking back, I'm not sure how we managed without pasta for so long!

Belgina I'm sorry to hear about your uncle . It's completely understandable why he would make the choice he has, but must be very difficult to come to terms with nonetheless.

Fi your work is absolutely beautiful. You are one talented lady! Very impressed with G's cruising too. H is pulling up on anything he can but hasn't worked out how to move yet.

to everyone else. Must go and track down the laundry. DH has been fab while I was feeling under the weather at the weekend and gone at the laundry basket like a demon, but now I am finding washing hanging in the most bizarre places! Then we're off to the supermarket as there is nothing in the house for lunch.

febes · 10/03/2010 11:33

I have 2 sick kids! R didn't sleep much last night and had a bit of a temp. Ended up feeding him and bringing him into our bed . I feed him at 6.30am and then got up and went to the bathroom and when I came back he had gone to sleep and he is still asleep 6 hours later!! Do I wake him or leave him. I'll have to wake him at 12 as I have my friends 2yo today and he will sleep in our room in the travel cot. DD got up at 7 but was very sensitive to everything and I put her back to bed at 10 and she is asleep still too.

We have a house viewing at 6pm (our first) so I'm trying to work out if its best to keep kids downstairs and watch a bit of cbeebies or have them in the bath which is what they normally do at that time?? I think we'll stay downstairs or I could even give them a bath early and then come down and watch telly while the viewing is going on. I'd rather go out when viewings are on but not at that time with 2 poorly kids.

Jennster · 10/03/2010 13:39

febes at your sleeping lit'luns. Poor things. I hope they feel better soon, and good luck with the viewing.

oh crap got to go. back later.

hopalongsausage · 10/03/2010 15:29

Aaww so many poorly people at the mo!

Febes - am beginning to hate the house viewings. Tons of clearing up and cleaning and make the house look nice and shiney and the people are only in for 5 minutes. AND no-one wants to buy yet . My dream life in Cirencester is getting further and further away

Belgina - so sorry about your uncle. I hope he is comfortable and pain free

Some of you may have seen on facebook that I was going to clear out a load of shoes today. Have gone through them. Can't part with any of them. Even the silver glittery stilettoes from New Look which were surprisingly comfy!

M had her swine flu jab this morning - flip I took her to the GP last week, as if we wanted an egg free one it had to be specially ordered. Went through her possible reaction to egg with him and he doesn't think it was an allergy - but part of me agrees as she had no lips swelling or wheezing, just a rash on her back and chest, which is where she usually gets eczema. She also had a very sore bottom for a few days afterwards, which apparently is common after an allergy (so said my friend the paediatric allergy nurse specialist!) Anyway. We went for the eggy one. He said the egg in it was minute. Well, anyway, she waa'd for about 3 seconds and has been her spritely little self ever since, no reaction on her leg, ate all her lunch up and has been playing so beautifully with all the stuff out the cupboards that I'm thinking they've given her good-girl-juice instead of a vaccine! Time will tell when DH puts her to bed tonight when I am OUT again! Blimey, at this rate, anyone would think I had a raging social life! Meeting a couple of old work friends in town - wooh!

belgina · 10/03/2010 17:11

Evening all,

saus @ your shoes. I'll sort through them for you. I can be quite ruthless when it comes to my shoes and clothes. That's what moving countries x amount of times in my yoof did to me. Glad to hear M didn't react to the swine flu jab. I'm still waiting for a call to go to the clinic for C, I missed hers in Jan due to the snow and all clinics were full when I phoned them up.

febes Hope your los are feeling better soon. Good luck with the house viewing. At least our old house is empty, so viewings don't bother us

muddled Hope all went well today.

Thanks for your sympathies re my uncle. Because he's been very ill for a loooong time, I have been preparing myself for bad news for ages. In a way this is easier, because it will planned and I know it's coming, IYSWIM. It's my poor aunt I'm more worried about. They are such a close couple that I don't think she'll cope very well with him gone.

DH&I had a little discussion about moving. There's a house to let just down the road that's 4 bed and just perfect for us IMO. We viewed it 2x and I really liked it and wanted to move, but DH didn't fancy moving again so soon and I thought we could cope with another few years in this house. Now that I'm back at work I've realised that it's not working. C desperately needs her own bedroom so she doesn't wake from our alarms. The house down the road is still to let, I presume it's difficult to let a 4 bed house, because it's in a location where I would have expected it to be snapped up in no time. So I told DH that I've changed my mind and he's not happy at all, but despite that he did get back in touch with the letting agents . He still doesn't really want to move because it being so soon after having moved before and because the shed in the other house isn't big enough . Now honestly,...tools...people... Ooooh, it's a hard one, but which is the most important to look after. [rolls eyes] men. With a bit of luck I can convince DH to go for that house and with a bit more luck he can make a deal with the landlords about rent etc...

Also had C weighed again today (still on same centile) and had a chat with the HV about the fact that C just doesn't take enough fluids in the day (she wont drink from a cup and keeps spitting out juice/water, rather than swallowing it), especially when I'm not around and as a result the poor mite keeps getting constipated. She suggested to try an open cup (I had already ordered a doidy cup this weekend) and prune juice. So lets hope that works.

belgina · 10/03/2010 18:38

Hi everyone. I just found this and this for C, because she keeps banging the key board. She loves the games

belgina · 10/03/2010 20:42

Where's everyone tonight? I was hoping for some company while DH and ap watch the football.

pulapancake · 10/03/2010 20:50

Hi Belgina- I'm here. Just trying to catch up with the thread as I've not been on for a couple of days. Back soon!

SpangleMaker · 10/03/2010 20:52

I've just been reading but now have to go & eat dinner so won't be very good company I'm afraid! I love those links you posted - me & DH have been trying out all the games

belgina · 10/03/2010 21:01

Lol, so that's where everyone is: playing baby computer games

pulapancake · 10/03/2010 21:08

Right, I will attempt a NC, although only read through quickly so apologies if i've missed anything:

febes- sorry to hear you have poorly DCs - and am with R's daytime sleeping- he must be feeling very rough. llare- poor G sounded very poorly the other night- hope he is on the mend, as well as flip's DDs.

Belgian and Spangle- sorry to hear about your uncle and MIL. Belgian - I am very much pro-euthanasia and can totally understand his feelings - it's just so and difficult for his DW.

saus- I am terrible at throwing out shoes, although most of my shoes are comfy flatties and not glamourous heels. But basically, I let my DH make suggestions as otherwise i would keep them all. And I fancy some of the good-girl juice your GP seems to be offering intravenously - my DD could do with that . Seriously though, glad M didn't have an adverse reaction to the jab.

belgian again- I am not surprised you want a 4 bed house, what with having an AP. You need some more space. As for shed storage could your DH not get one of those heavy duty plastic storage boxes or upright stores (like outside wardrobes) to store things in, if he really needs more space.

Fi- S has been waking early the last few days (as in around 5.45-6) but that is nothing like when your DS wakes you up - hats off to you and so glad G sleeps through for you. The only perk of him waking early is that mornings are a lot more relaxed and we get the DCs out for school/nursery on time.

Anyway, I need to get a drink (of wine) - medicinal purposes of course (sore throat)

essenceofSES · 10/03/2010 21:23

I'm around too
Lurking as our broadband is down so just on via my phone and don't think I'll manage a decent NC. I may give it a go though aa , like Pula, it's been a few days since I was on...

essenceofSES · 10/03/2010 21:38

ttc - DH and I are hoping to ttc from May. However I still haven't got my periods back and....
although there have been (rarely) some intimate moments, we haven't actually done the deed since the month O was conceived
We have talked about this and although we both want to, we know why it hasn't happened (the obvious disturbed nights and DH stress at work) and we're not worried. DH's stress at work is improving and I feel we're headed in that direction soon.

saus - look what your admission has done! Brought us all out with our own confessions!!
LOL at your shoe collection!!

LadyH - fingers crossed for you ttc. at your miscarriages. I had 2 and that was bad enough.

Belgina - hope your DH realises the sense in a 4bed house as opposed to a house with a large toolshed!
Hope the cup works for C.
for your uncle too.

Febes - hope DC don't have to bad a night and wake up feeling better tomorrow. Fingers crossed for your viewing too.

Fi - all the NS stuff sounds v exciting! Your DH sounds wonderfully supportive too

running - that cardigan is gorgeous! You are v clever!

younger - glad Monday went as well as it could

Reggiee - love the quilt idea!

Spangle - for MIL

That's all I can remember so sorry for what I've missed. I'll go back and check now...

essenceofSES · 10/03/2010 21:42

Aargh!!! Sorry....

muddled - hope today went ok. I have to say returning to work hasn't been as bad as I thought...

flippin - hope you're all soon bug free. I wouldn't share a bed with DH if he had d&v. I'd send him off to the spare room!

cherrytom · 10/03/2010 21:55

Am loving all the craft chat, Fi your machine embroideries are so pretty and I love Runnings cardi, I've been stitching on some vests for Jake- I must remember to link here to my blog when I'm done

Belgina and Spangle sorry to hear you have both had bad news about family members

febes sorry your lot have the poorlies- hope they get better soon

Saus never throw away shoes you never know when glittery silver stilettos will be needed, I'm sure they are just perfect for when you are out walking pushing the buggy

Jake was standing holding on to the side of the sofa today and then he let go of the side and just stood there for ages- I was very surprised. As soon as he realised he wasn't holding on he wobbled and grabbed hold again though

Am hoping for a good night tonight - Jake sprayed me in vomit at 5am last night so we ended up getting up then. Am so looking forward to a special Mothers Day lie-in at the weekend

llareggub · 10/03/2010 22:40

Talking of mothers day cards; DS gave me his today to carry from school. It said "I love my mummy because she painted my bedroom green." Bless. Of all the things I do, this painting appears to be the best.

youngerthanspringtime · 10/03/2010 22:41

Ses, you're gonna have to start practicing

youngerthanspringtime · 10/03/2010 22:49

Belg, great links, I've already tried them on my own like spangle; will do with baby tomorrow.

llare, that is sweet of your DS.

Cherrytom, standing on his own, gosh! he must have been surprised as well, how exciting.

pula, hope the wine helped your sore throat . that's a great reason.

am off to sleep. have been working the last few hours and, although I'm just sat at the computer doing work, it's quite exhausting (and dull).

dd1&2 have been at the inlaws so H and I have had lovely days together. when I've not been squeezing in work, I've been tickling her, trying to teach her to clap, helping her walk (whilst holding my hands), etc. i loveheriloveheriloveher. sigh. i'm not biased.

ok, had to get that off my chest .

good night!

Jennster · 10/03/2010 23:08

Belgina You're on the road to ruin I swear. Dd1 who is just four, can make her own way to the CBeebies website. Very very annoying when you're in the middle of something and leave the laptop for a second. To be fair, BBC is our homepage and she knows she just has to scroll down, but she found out herself that no matter what page she's on, if she clicks the house she can get onto the CBeebies. Sorry to hear about your uncle. It must be a very difficult decision for him.

Dd2 has the vomitus shitus thingy going on.

Muddled Hope today went ok.

ses I didn't get periods back between my dc1 and dc2 so you might get lucky? Def some practice needed

Reggie I love the quilt idea too. I wish I could sew or use a sewing machine. Knitting is as crafty as I get.

Spangle at your house full of sick infants. One is bad enough.

I'm sorry if I've missed anybody. I'm knackered and off to bed.

youngerthanspringtime · 11/03/2010 07:21

Hi jenn!, x posted last night. hope you're well.hope dd2 is better today.

just giving H morning feed but seriosly thinking of switching to bottle as she keeps nipping me with her sharplittle teeth - top 2 just broke through, and i think she's showing off. it's just such a faff to prepare a bottle in the morn....OUCH!!

ok, that's it. bitten again.

tomorrow, i drop the morning BF for a bottle . then, she's got one BF at night I'll drop that one next month unless she starts the biting thing tonight as well.

hope all are well today.

febes · 11/03/2010 08:08

Morning!!

R slept 6 hours yesterday morning but woke really happy and was the up until bedtime (nearly 7 hours) He slept really well last night until 6.15am when I fed him so we are back on track. DD is also much better.

The viewing has benn changed to Saturday but luckily I hadn't started to clean too much before they let me know.

Have to go DH has the car for work today so I'm going on the bus to my toddler group.

NC later.

SinginHinny · 11/03/2010 13:33

Hello everyone.

Umm please can I skip the nc, I'm no fi with her fancy schmancy split screen [luddite emoticon].

Like youngerformerlyknownasmomi I will remind you lovely ladies that I was known as grumpy in a former, darker life

I apologise in advance, this will be a self-obsessed wallowy post, I suspect.

Friend's funeral was today. It was bad. 'Bright Eyes' by Art Garfunkel anyone? Can you imagine the sobbing at that one? I almost broke into sniggering at the tweedletweedle twee tweeeeee on the organ whilst we were waiting for the service to begin though. The priest kept stumbling over his words and got several things wrong, I had a smile to myself at that too as my friend would have stood and corrected him. Loudly. She was forthright.

I'm still a bit up and down about it, it keeps hitting me. Her poor Fiance. And her poor mum looked on the verge of collapse.

Enough of that.

I hope everyone is well. I had an ulrasound of my gallbladder yesterday. I kept looking for a baby . I did get a lovely view of my gallbladder 'full of loads of stones'. So I await news of what's to be done with them. DD2 hopes I have to go into hospital for a couple of days so she can sleep wiv daddeeeeee (she said S could have her room and she would sleep wiv muuuum and dad).

Ah S awakes and demands my immediate attention.

Catch you all later

HeadlessLadyH · 11/03/2010 14:22

Bookmarking for later.

febes · 11/03/2010 15:35

Gaaaahhhhh Our heating and hotwater is off. I fear it is a loose wire underneath newly plastered walls. Greaaat . Of course DH is at work all day. and won't be back until late.

Anyway its bloody cold as the heating hasn't on all day so the house has dropped down to 15 degrees and thats in the lounge which is warmer than elsewhere. I'm going to our lovely neighbours to bath the kids and have a shower myself as I have a day teaching tomorrow (found out this morning) and my hair is hanging in lovely greasy clumps .

SpangleMaker · 11/03/2010 16:04

Hinny gosh the funeral must have been so moving. It will take a long time to come to terms with. I hope it's not insensitive to ask, but did the family find out what caused your friend's death? I guess it doesn't make any more sense of such a cruel loss, but I know it helps many people to understand what happened.

Glad to hear there isn't a baby in your gall bladder, by the way. Hope you don't need an op.

Febes what a nightmare! Hope you can get it sorted out soon. Have you got any portable heaters? Takes me back to when H was 2 weeks old and we ran out of heating oil over the weekend. Glad R is better.

Younger ouch! I've only been bitten lightly once so far. I really hope he doesn't make a habit of it as he is still bf-ing so often.

We left H at nursery for the first time this morning. Just for 2 hours. Apparently he didn't cry for the whole time - for 45min he was asleep and he did crawl around and play for a short while, apparently. He was screaming when we arrived back for him - I could hear him as soon as I got out of the car . He refused to eat anything for lunch so I'm guessing he was hungry. He's next due in on Tuesday, which is DH's birthday so we'll take him in for a short day. On the positive side, he waved and smiled to one of the nursery nurses as we were getting in the car, so maybe he'll be better once he gets to know them .
