Well done fi! Love the pictures on the blog, you are very talented.

Livejournal is challenging my brain. I'm finding it very difficult to navigate.

Blottedcopybook · 03/04/2010 09:51

Llare I promise it becomes a lot easier, I find it so much easier than facebook etc but then, I've been on there for about 8 years now!

belgina · 03/04/2010 10:59

llare I'm finding it difficult to navigate too. I can't seem to find the MN community page from my own home page and have to keep using the invite to go on it.

Blotted 8 years on livejournal!!?? OMG I think I was only on the e-mailing friends stage at that point, lol. I think we didn't even have broadband yet. No wonder you seem to be such a wizz at blogging/internetting.

pulapula · 03/04/2010 11:25

belgina- I saw your FB status. I thought the first comment you got was a bit flippant- I know it's just a short phase in the grand scheme of things, but when you have had broken sleep for months and months, and you are working, sometimes you need it to end, and I know you did cc with your DS and it worked. It has really worked for us- S is still waking once or twice a night but can generally be settled quite easily (and by DH to avoid any reminders of milk). I am no longer falling asleep on the sofa in the evening and can actually get out of bed in the morning as I have had enough sleep. DH thinks S is waking because it's cold and he's gone a whole week without feeds at night .

youngerthanspringtime · 03/04/2010 12:32

hi all.
I'm interested in the Livejournal thing and will deal with it when we're back from the inlaws.

we've been trying to leave for a few hours not . very, very unsettled H, don't know what she wants.

anyway, just on quickly to say have a great weekend and hope everyone is well.

belgina · 03/04/2010 12:42

pula that 1st comment was from one of DH's friends. His girls are now young teens, so I think that he's missing the baby stage a little. He is right in a way, lo's aren't babies for long.

Aaaw, the dcs have just come back from outside with flowers fome me We're goingto go to see the horse racing in one of the nearby villages now.

Blottedcopybook · 03/04/2010 13:03

Belgina, there'll be a link on your profile page

febes · 03/04/2010 14:25

Afternoon!
Spangle So ! What a shock to happen so quick.

Blotted I have joined livejournal and my user name is feebes (extra e as this name was used) I'll wait for a invite to join our group and then have another look.

Llare I really like the clothes and the idea of a personal shopper. Maybe one day...

ILs are driving me quietly crazy as they do such weird things. I'll compile a list and we can have a laugh at some stage soon but for now I must go

essenceofSES · 03/04/2010 15:32

Hello everyone!

Livejournal - I've joined up under my MN name so could someone send me an invite?!
Not completely sure how it will work and would be sad to finish on here altogether but I'm happy to give it a go!

Spangle - thinking of you and your DH

Llare - personal shopper sounds v tempting but I think you somehow do have to find one that you can relate to IYKWIM. I really like the jacket and the top that you got. Tbh, couldn't see the detail on the dress v clearly as I was on my phone when I had a nose.

Belgina - Awww! I picture a lovely little posey of spring flowers from your DC. Hope you enjoy the races.

Febes - I was wondering how you were getting on with ILs. I look forward to your list

Sorry not to NC more but it's been a difficult week here. Nothing major - just lots of little things. DH still having to go to the burns unit every few days to get his dressings changed. He still has most of the right side of his body covered in dressings. O has also been a bit poorly. I think it's teething as there's lots of dribble and chomping on his hands (his thumb was raw by the nail yesterday) and he's not eating anything except for fruit and yoghurt. He's also had a temperature on and off for the last 2-3 days that's not been controlled fully by paracetamol. Poor thing isn't whinging too much though, just a bit quieter than usual.
Right must go. Hope to be on tomorrow or Monday to catch up a bit better. Sorry if I missed anyone.

younger - hope H settles and you enjoy your visit to ILs

Blotted - I'm also v impressed with your computer skills. Thanks for helping to sort us all out!

FiByTheIcySea · 03/04/2010 17:14

febes&ses i've sent your LJ group invites.. on my phone atm and think they're ok? if not let me know & i'll do it from the laptop! back later to NC properly.

HeadlessLadyH · 03/04/2010 19:22

Umm. Whats the deal with LiveJournal? Is it the plan to replace the MN thread with LJ, or the FB group or both?

TBH if its to replace here, I'll prob bow out. MN and FB suit me as I'm on both places regular like. I'm not sure I could really do a third place.

ses sounds like you have your hands full. Hope DH and O are better soon.

llare the personal shopper experience sounds worthwhile. It would be good to get professional advice and get stuff I wouldn't normally even look at. I really liked the blazer by the way.

febes I too look forward to the IL list. We have a visit to mine 2 weekends on the trot. Yes thats right, 2 weekends on the trot at the end of April. Gulp.

belgina aaawwww at your DCs. So sweet of them. Hope you enjoyed your afternoon at the races.

We had rain forecast here all day and so decided not to do the Egg Hunt we had planned to go too. And what do you know, its been lovely (if a bit cold) all day. Pants. We had a good day anyhow. Went to the new modern art museum who were doing a space/family/easter thing over this weekend. I don't really "get" art and stuff and the exhibition was over my head, let alone the 3 4 year olds that came with us! But DS1 had his face painted like an alien and we had a nice lunch there so it was all ok. One of the friends I went with offered to take DS1 this afternoon so I was able to nap when R napped this afternoon. The tiredness really got me just after lunch so I was glad of that. I haven't told anyone else my news yet so my friend has no idea how much I appreciated her having DS1!

DH has just got back in. A little bit drunk. He's been at the Chelsea Man U game this afternoon. Looks like I'll be in for a fun evening!

Have some wine for me everyone!

llareggub · 03/04/2010 19:27

TBH I can't see me leaving mumsnet. I'm here all the time and can't quite envisage life without it.

FiByTheIcySea · 03/04/2010 20:17

well dh has nabbed the laptop to list some of his bike bits on ebay.. so i'm stuck on my phone.
headless we had your rain.. both yesterday and today it's been awful. even if the art was odd just getting out is great. i'd forgotten about the exhaustion in the first weeks seems so long ago now. I hope you've your feet up for a well deserved rest!
LJ v MN FB not sure yet.. I like LJ but it doesn't load as fast & easily on my phone browser.. MN and FB win that one. I do like the fact LJ like our FB group is private though.

belgina · 03/04/2010 21:37

I've pottered about on livejournal a bit now and I can see why it would be good, i.e. inserting pics straightaway, privacy etc..., but I can see that having a long conversation like we have on here would be a bit difficult. I have a feeling that MN might win out on this one, though I think I might start using it for other purposes.

The races were good. Lots and lots of very posh picnics going on and very posh country people milling about. Next year I'll have to go dressed like this and wear these boots. The weather was lovely here too, despite the weather forecast it was dry and sunny.

FiByTheIcySea · 03/04/2010 23:10

belgina rofl at the clothes i quite like the boots but OMG their price!! sounded like a great time though. we must have got everyones rain today!

dh still listing stuff on ebay so not been able to potter on LJ but at least i've crocheted all the daisies and i'm just sewing them on the coat no 16 was the one in the end!
FiByTheIcySea · 04/04/2010 09:08

yay it's not raining! don't know what we'll do today but with the sun shining at least we've options

HeadlessLadyH · 04/04/2010 12:59

Happy Easter all

Quiet on here today.

belgina · 04/04/2010 15:16

Happy Easter to everyone from me too.

Everyone must be outdoor enjoying the nice weather. We went to a (rubber) Duck race that's apparently an annual event in the village to raise money for all sorts of village related things. Basically they chuck a bucket load of ducks in the stream and see which one makes it to the bridge first. It was quite fun and there were a surprisingly large amount of spectators.

Loobylou36 · 04/04/2010 17:56

Happy Easter!

nice weather here too

I need some advice please.

Sorry in advance TMI.
Matilda has decided to give up BF - was tailing off to one feed a day but completely stopped 5 days ago. My period came back 8 days ago and I'm still bleeding - not heavily but still enough for a pad. Is this normal?

I assume my body is readjusting itself but wondered if anyone had similar experience?

Reggiee · 04/04/2010 19:24

Happy Easter all

Belgina did you race a duck too? Sounds good fun.

Looby first few periods were v heavy and much longer than normal. I'd say deffo body adjusting.

So, the inlaws kindly got B some easter chocolate, and I've eaten most of it . Am a bad dil....

belgina · 04/04/2010 19:58

reggie Yes we all had a duck each + 1 superduck for the family. Apparently the ducks went quite fast this year, because there'd been lots of rain recently and the current on the stream was quite strong. Next year we'll do it better and have a drink before and after like most people, but DH had to go off to work today.

looby Can't remember my 1st few periods last time, but I think it's quite normal for your first few periods to be a bit different from your usual.

Reggiee · 04/04/2010 20:55

Belgina pmsl at 'superduck'. Just imagining this oversized plastic yellow monster......
Let's hope I don't have nightmares tonight

Loobylou36 · 04/04/2010 21:26

thanks for the info re: periods ladies

hope you've all had fun today

we went to the in-laws for a lovely roast beef dinner then to see my dad and take his puppy for its first proper walk also managed to fit an under 5's easter egg hunt in (DSD took part on behalf of Matilda)

then tonight we went to the fun fair and I watched DH turn green when he went on the rides with DSD

oh and I finally did something about the extra weight - started SW 2 wks ago and so far have lost 7lbs! its been a struggle tho

I appear to have missed some news - congrats headless

Loobylou36 · 04/04/2010 21:59

fibythesea I've joined LJ as loobylou37 can I join your group please?

febes · 05/04/2010 07:53

Morning!! Happy Easter!

Up with the larks this morning as DH gave me a sleep in yesterday so he gets one this morning. Although I set the fire alarm off cooking crumpets so he had to help me turn it off .

We had a lovely day yesterday. Went to Merton Abbey Mills where they had a easter fun day and bouncy castle etc we had lunch at an italian restaurant and then went for a big walk through the park in the sunshine. It was a lovely tonic as DH and I went out the night before and got ratarsed home late.

Belgina the superduck race sounds fun. What a lovely village you live in. We are going to the Hop Farm in kent on friday so looking forward to that.

Looby Sounds normal to get a long period at first. I still haven't had mine. I got it back at 7 months with DD even though I was still feeding her but I was glad as we start TTC soon after. No sign this time though but DS is still feeding 3/4 times in 24 hours. I'm thinking of encouraging him to begin to wean though as I want my boobs back and I have been continuously Bfing for 2.5 years.

Better go and give the dcs some attention. Have a great Easter Monday everyone.
