Reggiee · 29/03/2010 19:32

Headless big congrats (and good luck).

Ses you sound remarkably calm about your dh's incident. Hope his side is not too sore and v pleased he's ok.

Helloo everyone else. Hope you're keeping well and the littlies are lovely. Can't believe they are approaching 1 already .

FiByTheIcySea · 29/03/2010 20:08

pula that kind of thing always leaves me with a horrid feeling I find hard to shift for a few days you obviously felt bad enough on your own anyway & definitely didn't need any more help from bee in bonnet lady. as younger said no one got hurt except your head hope it's stopped throbbing now. don't feel bad we've all done things like this.. when I was heavily pregnant with DS I was getting some prescriptions done for my mum and dad. Our nearest chemist is on the bend of a road and it was raining so i parked just past the bend on double yellows with their disabled badge (not allowed ). when i came back to the car 5-10mins later there was a nasty hand written note on my wind screen telling me off for parking there as part of it had the dropped curb bit for disabled wheel chair crossings. that note really upset me for days.. even though what i did was wrong.

essenceofSES · 29/03/2010 20:39

Headless - Wow!! CONGRATS!!!
I've been there twice with mc so understand you air of caution but am v pleased for you and fingers crossed for a happy & healthy pregnancy for you.

Pula - really and truly I think we've all probably done something like that at some point. Don't be too hard on yourself. Hope your head feels better soon.

Reggiee - I'm also in disbelief that our babies are going to be 1yo! Not long at all for Spangle's H!

younger - we've still not got round to "practicing" and we do want to start ttc soon... Also made more difficult by DH's burns across his belly now.

Fi - good luck with no14!

flip - hope the phonecall goes/has gone ok

DH - he really was v silly and v lucky. It's one of those situations that at the time, you just get on and do what you need to but now I keep thinking what could have happened and it doesn't bear thinking about.
He went to the burns unit this afternoon and his hand is still obviously burnt and red with some blistering but they've removed the dressings. His torso has been re-dressed and is still sore. The bandaged area goes from his armpit to his pubic area (thank God no lower!)all across the right side. He also has what's classified as a "deep burn" on the end of his nose which is v raw and redness all over the right side of his face.
On the bright side, I do still laugh to myself at the thought of him stripping and throwing himself on the ground in the front garden!

llareggub · 29/03/2010 21:05

Yes, I'm the same. If I get into any sort of argument or row I'm out of sorts for days. I hate it. Don't beat yourself up, pula. Who hasn't done something illegal parking-wise when in a hurry?

I booked a personal shopping session today. I've got a slot on Friday at John Lewis to get myself new clothes for work next week. I'm so excited! I want a capsule wardrobe a la Gok but smaller because I'm only there 2 days. I'm going to treat myself to lunch ON MY OWN and a leisurely wander around the shops, Can't wait...almost worth going back to work.

essenceofSES · 29/03/2010 21:21

Llare - sounds heavenly! There has to be some benefits of going back to work

pulapula · 29/03/2010 21:30

I knew i could count on you ladies to make me feel a bit better .

llare- personal shopper session sounds great. And lunch on your own should be lovely too .

ses- that sounds like a large area of burns. Poor DH. Hope he feels more comfortable soon.

DH and I are looking forward to having Thursday afternoon off work together (lunch and shopping) and then next Tuesday I have a spa morning booked and another afternoon off with DH as it's our 6 year anniversary . I think DH would like to just spend the afternoon in bed but i'd rather have lunch and have some retail therapy .

Tummum · 29/03/2010 21:31

Just lurking, but had to say to Headless keeping everything crossed that this one sticks.

Ses not surprised the what-might-have-beens are going through your head. Thank goodness everything will heal OK.

Pula another vote for feeling out of sorts when someone else has a go at me, especially when I did something wrong. I still brood about stupid things like someone leaving a note on my screen when I parked really badly in a space and made it difficult for her to get her baby in her car. Can't believe I am still thinking about it

Llare sounds fabulous.

I have Monday night blues. I hate Mondays.

flippinegg · 29/03/2010 22:04

Hello!

llareggub - at your personal shopper appointment. I might do something similar, but as my 'mum' clothes are my work clothes it'll be for casual stuff, iyswim.

pula - hugs about the 'incident'.

Thanks for all the stuff about work. I spoke to my line manager today, she was very apologetic for the handling of it all and reassured me about not rushing into any decisions - I've actually got about 7 weeks holiday, so as soon as my mat leave is over my holiday is going to start, and she has agreed that we can use the parental leave bit if I need it after that. She's annoyed with the HoU for leaving it so late too, apparently she only found out what the decision was when she read the email this morning (it was sent to me late on Friday, and copied to her). Anyway, apart from plotting ways to screw absolutely everything I possibly can out of work before I hand in my notice, I'm ok I think.

In-laws have gone!

FiByTheIcySea · 29/03/2010 22:10

llare I'm very of your retail therapy session with a personal shopper you must come back and show me us what you've got!

ses sending get well soothing vibes for your dh.. hope the burns don't leave too much scarring. - tummum roll on thursday evening.. i hope the next few days are easier than other weeks have been. - pula lunch, shopping, spa's & 6yr anniversaries.. wonderful together and well deserved pamper yourself time. The best kind of presents i think i should drop hints for our anniversary end april.. 6yrs for us too!
FiByTheIcySea · 29/03/2010 22:15

x post flip your lm sounds lovely.. Phew at least you don't have to rush to decide now.

youngerthanspringtime · 30/03/2010 07:10

morning all.
tumm, hope your tuesday is better than monday .

flip, big sigh of relief! I love your LM! Hope it all works out for you. how are you now without the inlaws?

pula, anniv sounds wonderful and relaxing.

off to wake the girls now. it's Harper's 1st settling in session at nursery - she starts wednesdays properly next week. I think she'll be ok but we'll see....

the other event of Today is that we're getting a tumble drier . We made it a whole year without one and with 3 LO's under 4! well, I feel it's an accomplishment anyway. I'm sure we've saved loads of elec and I'll do my best to use it sparingly but it's peace of mind to have. The washing is on top of me at the moment.

have a great day all. catch up later.

FiByTheIcySea · 30/03/2010 07:43

morning!
younger fingers crossed H settles at her settling in session x is it for long? whoop whoop tumble dryer.. handy to have just in case & love how they make towels all fluffy we've no space for one here and couldn't justify getting a washer dryer combo and turfing out the good washing machine that was built in this kitchen.. but when it dies

flippinegg · 30/03/2010 09:25

Morning all!

younger - Hope it all goes ok today and that H settles well.

We haven't got a washer/drier, but on days like today when it's chucking it down with rain and I've got a full nappy bucket it'd be lovely!

It's very calm without the ILs! The girls and I are still in our PJs, we're not going out until this afternoon so no rush.

Catch up later.

llareggub · 30/03/2010 13:35

Afternoon!

We don't have a tumbledryer but I do have a conservatory that gets morning sun. Perfect for drying clothes, if nothing else!

G has spots in his nappy area, elbows, and knees. He has been in contact with chicken pox but the pharmacist suspects excema rather than pox, so I have my fingers crossed that it isn't. I'm wondering if the excema has developed since he started crawling although it doesn't account for the nappy area rash. He is sleepier today so I guess it could just be one of those odd viruses.

youngerthanspringtime · 30/03/2010 14:12

afternoon as well!

Can't believe none of us has a tumble dryer! hats off to all of us, then. I now feel wimpy for getting one . but, like Fi, I like the thought of fluffy towels. I'm also quite tired of washing hanging all round the house all the time.

flippin, hope you're still in your pj's, sounds lovely.

llare, hope G is ok and it's not CP.

Harper did very well during her 2 hours at nursery if a bit tired. She cried a little after dinner but was very cuddly with one of the nurses. I think she'll do ok but I'm so that it means another step to growing up and away - we can't keep them with us forever.

time to get some things done. see you all later.

Tummum · 30/03/2010 16:44

Younger for tumble driers from here too. I couldn't survive without it. I am feeling quite chuffed today, because for the first time in months I have reached the bottom of the laundry basket

Llare hope G doesn't have CP

Fi Hello !!

Well, it's been an eventful afternoon. The Nanny had a Drs appt this afternoon, and I decided not to announce it at work as boss is in London office and it's generally easier to sneak off to 'meetings'. Well, I rushed out of the office, did a Jensen Button stylee race to get home on time (I arrived at 3.01) and the Nanny bolted out of the door, handing me G who had done a massive poo. So I had approximately 30 seconds to change his bum, get DD2 and DS1 kitted out in outdoor gear, and put the car seat in the car to be able to be on time for picking up DD1 from school. Got to school late, and carnage because everyone has driven because it looks like rain. Finally find a space. I open the car door and the heavens open. It is chucking it down. Get absolutely soaked. My knickers and bra are sopping. Rush to school, and mobile rings. It's work. A journalist is onto one of the things I am working on, and only I can answer the questions. Great. So I am standing in the playground, drenched, with screaming children trying to brief the press office on some pretty complex stuff where we could easily trip up. Then there's a pull on my sleeve. 'Mummmeeeee I REALLy need a poooooo.' SIgh. Sort out DD1, and get back to car (still raining) whilst still on the bloody phone. Car doesn't start (bloody Landrovers don't like the wet.) ARRRGGGHHH. But all is now well. Cbeebies is on, crisis at work averted (hopefully) and I am in dry clothes. I really don't think Men would be able to cope with all that stuff happening at once. By Men, I mean my husband, obviously !!!!

FiByTheIcySea · 30/03/2010 17:46

llare fingers crossed it's not CP just excema or a viral thingy at worst.
tummum what a school run and then some! i think any dh would struggle with that amount of multi tasking and in the rain too!! just think two days to go this week do you get some time off at easter?

FiByTheIcySea · 30/03/2010 17:51

younger glad H coped at nursery today

essenceofSES · 30/03/2010 17:57

Tummum - wow! Superwoman coping with that lot and sounding so calm!! (By "men" you can include my DH too!)
Superwoman a second time too for seeing the bottom of the laundry basket!

tumble driers - err.... we have one.... Tbh, I still end up using radiators as I try to keep use to a minimum but it is a nice luxury.

younger - sounds like H got on v well for a first session. Nursery always seems to make O more tired. I guess there's lots of stimulation and activity for them.

flip - yay for calm without ILs!

Pula - those anniversary celebrations sound fantastic!

Llare - really hope it's not CP. How's he doing now?

Fi - hello! Not sure about scarring for DH. His hand should eventually be ok but not sure about his nose and his side is still all sealed in with dressings and bandages until at least Friday. Silly DH!!!

Don't know if you remember months ago I mentioned a friend of mine who had split up with his fiancee and got together with a new GF who then became pg in the first month they were together? (Don't expect you to remember about my friends as well as me ) Well she was due 11th May and had the baby yesterday!! A little girl at a weight of just over 3lb!
Really excited for them but hoping everything's ok.

Anyway, I know this guy through another friend.
Well this morning, my friend texts me to ask if I've heard the news so I phone her back and she's obviously pleased at the news but when I asked if she knew how the baby was or if the baby was in special care, she said she didn't know and presumed everything was ok and wasn't it great that the baby had come early as the pregnancy had been hard with lots of sickness and "at least she won't put on all that weight in the last few weeks"

llareggub · 30/03/2010 18:28

Bloody hell, Tummum, you are superwoman!

Ses my friend's twins were born at 31 weeks and weighed 3 pounds and just under 3 pounds. They are now nearly 3 months old and are now 5 whole pounds! Amazing really how resilient these tiny babies are. I'm sure you'd have heard if they weren't fine.

It doesn't look like CP, according to my MIL but I've since heard that one of the babies we were with on Wednesday has developed CP. There is a lot of it around, he is about the 6th case that I know of. Anyway, I've decided that it is excema and in some ways I'd prefer it to be CP as excema can be horrid. I used to have a leather allergy which gave me terrible excema on my feet, making it difficult to walk at times. Its fine now but it was horrid at the time. Off to bath him in something useful now.

youngerthanspringtime · 30/03/2010 20:15

Tummum, what an eventful afternoon. especially loved the 'mummyineedapoo' part .

llare, glad you don't think it's CP. Hope he's feeling better.

Ses, what a tiny baby! hope she's healthy and gets home soon.

Hi Fi, whatcha up to tonight?

Am I bad for opening up the Easter mini eggs and munching ? just means we'll have to buy another bag.

Tumble dryer didn't arrive . DH chased the delivery, there was some sort of communication prob so it's not arriving until next tues. At least dh negotiated £20 off delivery fee, though.

supposed to be at work. better go.

pulapula · 30/03/2010 20:21

tummum- multi-tasking trophy of the day goes to you for sure . My DH was stressing about having to do the school and nursery run for the first time on his own today (as I was in Birmingham), but to be fair, I came home from work early last week to relieve DH who had been working at home and looking after a poorly DS1 - DS1 was busy playing noisily and DH was on a work call - to the chief exec of jobcentre plus - not sure how he managed to concentrate. Although i was a bit that DS1 was still in his pjs and hadn't been offered any lunch when it was nearly 2pm so not that great at multi-tasking after all.

younger- I have a tumble drier in the cellar but i rarely use it - i tend to stagger the washing and seem to always have something either washing or drying around the house. Glad H was OK at nursery - I know it's a bit as it's another sign of our LOs growing up, I think it is good for their social development and independence.

llare- hope G is OK- IKWYM about in some ways it might be better if it was CP as it's only a temporary thing (and they will all probably get it sooner or later). My DS1 has one of those viral rashes ATM - probably caused by the D&V he had at weekend.

Well night 3 of cc to stop the night feeds was pretty good really - just 5 mins to resettle S at 10pm and again at 1.15am and then he slept until 5.45 . I had to be up early anyway for my train, so it all worked well.

pulapula · 30/03/2010 20:24

younger- x-posts. Shame about the drier but well done to DH for getting a discount - i never think to try that. And don't feel bad about the mini eggs- I was thinking the exact same thought and will soon be breaking into our mini egg supply .

FiByTheIcySea · 30/03/2010 20:37

caved and had takeaway curry for dinner. dc's were exhausted and in bed bit earlier tonight. had my hair done this afternoon by the sister of a friend at said friends house.. worked really well as DS played with her dd who he knows from his pre school. G slept for some of the time & my friend kept her occupied for the last bit. So now I have tidy hair again and feeling all glam! no new style just good trim and re-layer of the long locks.

hiya younger shame about your tumble dryer. but something to look forward to next week! just finished sainsburys on-line food shop.. back on phone as dh has nabbed laptop. had some lager with curry and my head is all spacey! was going to do flower 14 but not sure I can think right! There's nothing on the telly.. what's everyone watching?
pulapula · 30/03/2010 20:43

Fi- the haircut sounds great, and I'm sure you do look glam too .

I'm watching holby city - as i do every Tuesday
