Here you go ladies.

I'll start with a question.

What do you think I should do - A has been waking at night needing milk when she was previously sleeping through. She is not drinking milk in the dau . Shall I go cold turkey on milk at night or try gradually reducing the amount in her bottle over a few nights until she doesn't bother waking any more?

belgina · 07/03/2010 18:24

running Thank you. You read my mind. This is exactly what I wanted to do too

To answer your question: How about putting some water in her bottle instead? I've heard that works. At this age I would think it's very unlikely that she'll need milk at night if she didn't before hand.

looby Welcome back. I brush C's teeth in the evening. Haven't got into a morning routine with her yet. I brush them before her last BF though. I think this is quite a normal thing to do for most mums.

I myself also have a question for the BLW mums. I'm still putting C's food straight onto her tray. Do you use a plate for the los by now? How about giving a spoon to eat with? C's oddly enough started enjoying being spoonfed, even though she's ever been spoonfed before, she all of a sudden almost asked for it and yesterday she had loads of spaghetti bolognese by spoon. Really odd, because she doesn't know spoons

Oh and Lol at the BBQ ing going on febes

Gotta go now. C's soooo grumpy today.

runningmonkey · 07/03/2010 18:30

Thanks belg might try the water thing, although she has previously trn ed her nose up at water in a bottle.

teeth brushing We do A's before bed (before her last feed) and in the morning when I remember, like belg, haven't got in a routine yet.

BLW I use the tray a lot but also have one of these which I stick a china plate on (she had some cute gruffalo crockery from my Mum for Christmas ). I find it useful when plating up to serve A's first and leave it to cool on the plate while I assemble the rest of dinner/lay up etc. The mat rolls up small too so is useful for out and about. Funnily enough A has started to enjoy being spoonfed too - I think its because she has worked out she can get more food in quicker if she eats this way... a little piggy like her mum

Hands round large drinks.

Just bookmarking lovely ladies.

running S likes being spoonfed because she's a piggington porker chunkmuffin.

younger Do you want Gin'n'Bovril? I hope tomorrow goes ok, I shall be thinking of you x

runningmonkey · 07/03/2010 18:41

Oh yes, younger will be thinking of you tomorrow. Hope all goes well. I think you should start planning yourself a nice treat of all your favourite foods for afterwards.

singin I really wish we were nearer, would love our two who share a birthday to meet (as well as meeting you of course!). They could have an eat-off

Hi all, glad to find a new thread.

youngerthanspringtime · 07/03/2010 19:26

running, I was going to suggest water as well. Hope it works.

Belg, I've been just using a wipeable mat for Harper's finger food. As for spoons, she's desperately trying to figure out how to feed herself with one (results are under the table and on her footrest). She's very stubborn and tries to wrestle cutlery out of my hands.

Singin, thanks for the drink! Hope you're ok.

Reggiee · 07/03/2010 19:28

Evening.
Just a quick post this evening.

Younger will be thinking of you tomorrow. Hope all goes well.

Hinny how are you today?

If anyone is still in touch with Llare, please wish her all the best with the HR freelancing - it's all sounds v exciting.

febes · 07/03/2010 19:32

Mmmmm bbq was gooood. Pork chops, sausages, garlic bread, lettuce salad and potato salad. My DH would bbq (or braai) every night if he could. He is very good at it.

Thanks for starting the new thread but I think I'll forgo the cocktail this time. Hung.

youngerthanspringtime · 07/03/2010 19:37

Hi Reg!

runningmonkey · 07/03/2010 19:54

Ooh febes please can I come to your house for tea? My family is bbq crazy - My Uncle has been known to cook on one for Christmas dinner

OP posts:
febes · 07/03/2010 20:04

We always have bbq on Christmas at home but it is the middle of summer there.

pulapancake · 07/03/2010 20:10

younger- hope the procedure tomorrow goes OK and well done on coping with 2 days of bovril and other such delicacies. Hope we can enjoy something more scruptious when we meet up in 10 days time .

febes- BBQing in March is not something i've ever heard of before . Glad to hear R has adjusted to his nights without milk very quickly. I am not sure S would do so well, although if he carries on with night wakings I am tempted to try anything (yawn). I am constantly tired, snappy, grumpy and more. To be fair, last night he did go back to sleep at 10.35 after a feed and then didn't wake until 3, but then it was 4, 5.50 and up for the day at 7 so i feel like i only get 4 hours solid sleep a night. And sometimes there's a 1.30 wakeup too so I only sleep in 2 hour chunks at most.

looby I am a bit to say that S only gets his teeth brushed every other night if that. And it was quite a while after he got his firth tooth that i realised i should buy him a toothbrush .

runningmonkey · 07/03/2010 20:15

Yes I imagine that's a bit warmer than West Wales

Actually, have just remembered that I saw a lady at m&b group with new twins the other week and it reminded me of your sis, how is she doing?

Pula That sounds rough! I think when S is ready he will do it. R hasn't been ready until now. It only took one night of crying a couple of times and he has got the picture. I hope for your sake S is ready soon.

DH is shocked that you can't buy wood or charcoal for the bbq from september to May. He stocks up over the summer so he can braai all winter long .

febes · 07/03/2010 20:21

Running My sister is doing really well. The boys are 4 months but only 9 pounds each . They are doing well though. She is a dance teacher and has her own school so now that term has started she is really busy. She has a part time Nanny to help out and my mum goes to help everyday. She's looking forward to me coming home .

runningmonkey · 07/03/2010 20:23

sorry mad MN moment - that was to Febes btw.

pula that is one tough sleep regime, especially with work as well. I'm sorry I don't have any useful advice to impart, but good luck with the sleep training.

Evening all.

Am I allowed to mention what has happened? Don't want to dwell on it at all, but wanted to say bye to llare and dandy. You will both be missed. Come back if you need any fashion advice or a night with sexybuilder (reckon he still lurks about every now and again!). Good luck with your respective novel writing and new worky type adventures. We'll be here if you need us. xx

febes am LOLing at your BBQing DH. Its been effiung freezing here. Although if it was actually in the snow that would be ok, IYKWIM.

younger fingers crossed for you tomorrow.

fi f* me that was one impressive catch up/NC post. If there were to be Oscars in this thread, that would certinaly win Best NC Post. By A Mile.

Better than a wave as I have a glass of vino on the go.

BLW we have a stokke tray that food goes on. It was ridiculously expensive for a piece of plastic with suckers on the bottom but it is pretty good really. Plates are too distracing for R. He just grabs and plays with the plate, and all the food goes on the floor. He'll have a go with a spoon, but belgina like C, he quite likes having the odd bit of food spooned in.

WaterBabies pics were ok in the end. We have ordered 2. They will be here in 5 weeks (5 WEEKS!!!) so I will post them up on the dreaded FB when they are here. One is hilarious. Looks like he is laughing under water.

And just to make you all , this time in 2 weeks I shall be in Meribel (saus!! not via the disco train tho.) 14 more sleeps to go.

runningmonkey · 07/03/2010 20:27

febes awww, so teeny Glad they are doing well. I bet she is looking forward to you coming home.

Right better go and be sociable Hope everyone has a good night x

pulapancake · 07/03/2010 20:28

Thanks Febes- I think S is getting better at settling after his illness/teething so I am hoping things will improve and like you say, they need to be ready. It was working a few weeks ago before illness so I am hoping we can do it again. I am trying again to settle him in his cot awake at bedtime to get him used to self-settling. Then at least my HV is coming a week tomorrow to do his 10 month review so I can talk through approaches then.

Your nephews are so tiny, but I know it can take up to 2 years from premmies to "catch-up". Hope you get some interest in your house so that you can move back to your family .

belgina · 07/03/2010 20:40

febes I sort of imagine all of you like on that ad about I can't remember what, where this family wipes the snow of their garden furniture and sit down for a nice barbie
Glad to hear your Dsis is doing well at the twins' weight though. That's lighter than C born, lol.

pula at sleeping. Though up until a few weeks ago C was the same, but luckily she now does 3-5.30/6-ish (but sometimes she doesn't go back to sleep properly after that last one ) Don't worry about the toothbrushing. I say at bedtime before milk, but that's only when I remember. Though I'm getting better. C loves the toothbrush and it's my newest tool to stop her from wriggling when I change her into her PJ's. She just lies still sucking it, as if it's a lollypop

running Maybe it's an age thing, you know the reverting to spoons? That mat looks good btw. I gave C some soup today, by spoon of course and I've now worked out that I need 3 spoons to spoonfeed her. 1 for me and 2 for her. She managed to get my spoon of me and I couldn't prise it back of her without her throwing a paddy (which she's very good at lately, especially when keys are involved)

My ds wanted his hair cut today and so I got the clippers out and now he's got a nice short (1") haircut I prefer him with longer hair, but just can't convince him to keep it that way. I'm hoping that once he turns a teenager he'll want to grow it

Loving this new thread BTW. Now the dcs are in bed I think it's time for a celebratory cocktail or 2. Make mine a Long Island ice tea. Reminds me of when I was young(er)

essenceofSES · 07/03/2010 20:42

Well roast was yummy! (sorry younger !)

Running - thanks for the new thread. I shall have myself a non-virtual (ie real !) bacardi and diet coke later

Febes - it was a lovely day but still, a bbq??!! Glad you enjoyed it though

Headless - bet you can't wait for your hols! Am I right, you're going skiing? (sorry if I'm being dense or missed something)

younger - thinking of you and hope tomorrow goes ok

Hinny - thinking of you too

Belgina - I've been doing the same re food on tray except for the occassional spoonfed things like yoghurt (which is still BLW as he obviously loves it, the way he lurches towards the spoon!) This evening though I tried giving him loaded spoons of yoghurt. We did get through 3 spoons as he kept chucking them on the floor (with dogs I don't reuse them!) but eventually he got the hang of it and realised if he gave it back to me, I put more on.
Think I might get one of those mats that running linked to though as he would just pick up a plate and throw it and the contents everywhere!

Looby - O gets his teeth cleaned whilst he's sitting in his seat in the bath every night. He insists on trying to do it himself so it can get quite messy

Is anyone else thinking of ttc later this year? DH and I had a chat over dinner about it.
