Here you go ladies.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
hopalongsausage · 08/03/2010 11:51

Oh flip - poor you re MC. the wtf-ness about the new sofa though!

Just been thinking about my post. How VERY re the admitting about not doing 'it' - especially since I only got MARRIED in October - so yes, no bonking on the wedding night (we were too drunk and knackered) NOR the honeymoon. Still. Not many people take 5 month old babies with them on their honeymoon, I suppose

On that note, I'm off. I'm too to go on any further....

pulapancake · 08/03/2010 13:24

A quick catch-up whilst i eat my lunch at my desk:

febes - well done R for learning to clap (and for going back to sleep without milk). I keep trying to encourage S to clap by clapping at him, but he just looks at me with a "WTF are you doing" expression on his face. We are teaching him to respond to "how big is S?" "he's soooo big" and he does sometimes raise his arms up in the air, but only for DH but not for me .

TTC- sorry but it made me that it seemed there was a lot of talk of TTC but not much physical action with the exception of ladyhelen - ooh how exciting. Sorry to hear about your m/c before and also flippin. I would love to go skiing again (have been to Meribel and other parts of the 3 valleys three times) and will definitely take the kids when they are old enough (or else bring my mum along for babysitting whilst my dad skis as she doesn't enjoy it). We did take DD with us when she was 14mo and put her in a creche but it was very expensive and she was sick a couple of days so we all just stayed in the chalet.

saus- phew that was a lucky find- hope you are on your way to the bank to pay your cheque in .

Well, my night was the usual broken sleep- fed S at 9.50pm, then stayed up til 11.30 waiting for DH to stop working and come to bed (I should have just turned in earlier). Then S woke at 12.15, I tried to stay awake feeding so I could put him back in his cot but I fell asleep, then S woke screaming at 2am (wind), DH settled him by 2.30, then he was up for the day at 6am after doing a big dirty nappy. Luckily DH dealt with the nappy and S and I dozed on and off until 7.30.

pulapancake · 08/03/2010 13:37

Oh and flip- poor DDs - tonsilitis and ear infection . Hope the ABX work quickly and they soon feel better (and sleep better). As for getting painkillers on prescription, I have been given these before (think it depends on the GP) and generally jump at the chance as they cost so much and we go through so much. But i am usually too to ask outright. Sometimes they ask a general "are you ok for painkillers" and i often respond "yes". I guess our free prescriptions/dental treatment for being new mums run out soon.

HeadlessLadyH · 08/03/2010 13:49

I didn't realise there were so many other snow lovers here! I am so looking forward to returning to Meribel. Although I worked in COurchevel and Val Thoren I spent many many happy days in Meribel and in the ROnnie - generally off my face on toffee vodka and crowd surfing to the live bands. Oh happy happy times. Obviously 2 Dcs will curtail the apres ski but I cannot wait to strap my board on and just go. I'm getting goosebumps just thinking about it.

Thanks for your hugs re the MC. I joined this thread quite late and I'm not sure if I've shared my MC story. Anyway, I won't go into detail but that MC hasn't been the only one. Oh no. 2 before DS1 and then 3 inbetween. Which is one of the reasons we are TTC so soon. After last time, it could be a looonnnnnnnggggg road. I'm prepared for it though. flip hugs back to you for yours. Its an awful thing to go through.

Hope your household gets better soon too flip saus good find with the cheque! Treat yourself.

pula naughty you on t'internet when you are at work

febes good work R! Tell him to give himself, well, a clap!

Blottedcopybook · 08/03/2010 14:05

Running - I'm not too shabby ta. Had a few demons to battle before Xmas and the saga with my maternity pay is still ongoing but I'm feeling a lot better since the prozac kicked in ;) How are you doing? x

Febes Last year the snow & chickens killed off all of our grass too! Nobody warns you about that when you start keeping fowl! Give that boy of yours a big kiss for his clever new skills xx

Saus Don't be embarrassed, after all the things we've shared as a group that's hardly in the top ten of shameful things to admit. After I had my first it was about six months before I'd let my then husband see me undressed - extended celibacy is really common and understandably so. That said, I do believe that when you er, fall off a bike it's best to try and persevere with riding it again so jump on!

Flippin Have some chocolate cake! Have you had tonsillitis before? I had it in January and I swear I've never been sick like that in my life so can I heartily recommend keeping the calpol and ibuprofen going regularly rather than when needed? Wee sausage, I hope she's better quickly. Also, definitely not defrauding the NHS that's what you pay your stamp for! Kids get free prescriptions for a reason. And don't worry about A still being in her jammies, when kids are sick like that any bit of comfort is valuable for them and I reckon she'll have been happier in her jammies so you are an EXCELLENT MOTHER for keeping her like that xx

flippinegg · 08/03/2010 14:38

sausage - ROFL at your confession. But a bit here too. I can count 'it' on the fingers of one hand.

blotted - thanks for the cake, yum. Yep, I used to have horrific tonsilitis when I was a child, had them taken out when I was 7. Hadn't occurred to me that it was anyhing like that for DD1 though, she kept saying her tummy hurt, which was why I'd assumed it was a continuation of the UTI that she's only just had (another sample has been sent off to check that it has gone).

headless - I had two before we had DD1, it's really hard. Keeping everything crossed for you this time.

febes - well done on R learning to clap, how cool is that?!

A's trick this week is kissing! If you do kissy noises at her, she copies you, and sometimes if you just ask her for a kiss she makes the right noise! Keeps DD1 occupied for hours.

The girls seem slightly better, but then they are both full of (free!) drugs. Hope it continues.

flippinegg · 08/03/2010 14:39

Doh, always post without previewing and thinking...blotted - sorry to hear about mat pay stuff still going on, but glad things are improving otherwise.

hopalongsausage · 08/03/2010 15:17

Am pretending I didn't mention 'it' earlier.

Ahem.

Got stacks to do, but wanted to come on and have a peep. Headless - 6 MCs how utterly devastating for you and your DH. And also flip I can't even begin to understand what you went through, it must have been awful, so big hugzzz to you both (( )) and also a nice glass of vino. Or chocolate

Flip - M is kissing as well - sort of! Actually, its a bit weird, if I'm giving her big kisses on her chops (quite often) she'll face me, open her mouth and start licking me. Ah bless

Oh my GOD I have just remembered I have some banana cake in the kitchen - untouched! Aaargh!

cherrytom · 08/03/2010 16:15

hi everyone- is it safe to come in? Such a shame about the in-fighting but glad to see the dust has settled a bit. Am hoping Dandy has a change of heart about staying away but have a feeling that she won't
Headless and flip so sorry to hear of you past MCs, Headless good luck with TTC

I am another one who is making like a nun at the moment. I am to admit that I'm perfectly happy with the lack of action, am just too tired, fat and not at all interested. That aside I'd love another child so will have to do something about it at some point. Am hoping that as J eats more and BFs less my libido may make an appearance!

Febes J is clapping all the time too- earlier he was having a cry but clapping at the same time- he also joins in if the telly is on and there is applause- cuteness

J has been poorly since Tues, he started with cold symptoms then started vomiting on Thurs, was sick ALL NIGHT we were up till 5.30 he carried on vomiting all day Fri (although as usual perked up enormously for the 5 mins we were seeing the doc- do all babies do this?) then has had diarrhoea since then, urgh, luckily the past two night he has slept with only a couple of wakings per night. I have been so worried about him but he seems to be on the mend and from talking to friends with kids it seem there are a lot of bugs about right now.

blotted can't believe your mat pay isn't sorted, do I remember rightly that your work claimed you weren't eligible and asked you to pay it back? It must be very stressful for you.

youngerthanspringtime · 08/03/2010 16:46

hello to my lovely MN friends, thinking of you has really helped me get through this morning. I'm so glad the new thread started as I was so sad on the last one.

llare, so good to see you on here. I was worried you'd go away.

blotted, good to see you back as well.

for those of you (just in case) who don't remember, I used to be momino but decided to completely name-change, fresh-as-spring new name (still getting used to it).

well, the procedure was hideous but importantly: all is well, not even a polyp. Just awaiting some biopsy results to come back in a few weeks but I'm not expecting anything wrong. [relief emoticon] now just to be re-checked in a few years as precaution for family history. thank you so much for your support and hugs. and stories of yummy food which I dreamed about last night. send some my way now!

moving on...
all the stories TTC, i'm but there is no way - i'm 40 and, like saus, have been preg since 2004.

ladyH, very about Meribel but lucky you! fingers crossed so much for ttc to happen quickly this time.

Saus, that is uncanny timing for you to find that £25, thank goodness. Also would like to help you with your cafe, I could make some cupcakes or muffins?

blotted, sorry, too, the mat pay saga continues. I really hope that gets sorted out, i think it's all very unfair.

flippin, hope everyone's better in your house. you need some sleep! want to come to ours? dd1&2 are at I/L for the week so it's fairly quiet (H is enjoying 1 to 1 attn).

pula, invite goes to you as well! hope your 5 day working week doesn't leave you too knackered.

Febes, hope the pics came out good and help sell your house quickly! about clapping, I'm trying to teach H to clap and blow kisses but she just laughs. Clapping is so cute.

running, hope you had a lovely time in the gardens and hope you had the glass of wine. sounds lovely.

Belg, hope you had a good day. Spoons - H is insistent on feeding herself so I tried similar. we had 3 spoons on the table, 2 on the floor, 1 on her foot rest, and she ended up using her hands to stuff the messy food in her mouth anyway . thank goodness we have a dog to clean up under the table. when he was away recently, I had to sweep/hoover the kitchen 2x daily.

I hope everyone else is ok. just going to have another sleep (yawn).

youngerthanspringtime · 08/03/2010 16:49

Hi cherrytom, xposted. I agree with you on being happy with no action. I'm sure my libido with pick up someday (after BF?). but won't worry about it.

hope J is better soon.

cherrytom · 08/03/2010 17:11

hi younger glad all was well with your test- bet you are relieved it is over and done with and hope you have something scrummy planned for tea

hopalongsausage · 08/03/2010 17:17

Younger - glad all done and dusted! I expect you won't want a mug of bovril any time soon! (and btw, I think it was blotted who's been pregnant since 2004, not me! I am nearly 40 though...eek...

febes · 08/03/2010 18:09

Younger GREAT news!! Sending yummy naughty food your way as we speak.

TTC I want to. I'm getting very broody but I have to wait till we are back in NZ now. Don't want to be moving, holidaying and relocating while pregnant. This time next year I like to be trying though. Time to get the libido sorted hopefully .

Blotted Great to have you back. Glad you are feeling better too. I LOVE reading your blog and seeing all your crafty things (that tiny doll was so awesome). Is your grass recovering?? We are trying to keep to chickens off it as much as possible to give it a chance to grow but they beg me to be let out .

Headless I am one that dosn't like snow and skiing and the like. I know that I am a kiwi and we are supposed to be ski, sky diving thrill seekers but it's too cold for me. And wet. And hard. And it hurts when you fall over.

Belgian I am wondering how your shift is going. I'm jealous that you get to see lots of scrummy newborns.

Running Hope your day with your friend was nice and that you enjoyed a wine or 2.

Sausage We also didn't consummate on the night of our wedding. Far too much tequila for that . I could probably count on my hands the amount of action we have had in the last 10 months too. Ahhh well must get back on the old bike soon.
I'd love to come to your cafe and drink vats of tea and eat carrot cake with cream cheese icing .

Tummum · 08/03/2010 18:52

Younger so glad that it is all over, and nothing to worry about in the results. So pleased. Have been thinking of you

Sausage at your . I, like many others, have not been back on the bike many times either but I really should make the effort really

Blotted great to hear from you and that things are on a more even keel

TTC No chance here.

Headless about your MC experiences, but great news about going skiiing. I'm not at all... NOT. And not of your chalet girl experience. I didn't do anything like that, and I wish I had

Flippin hope everyone is feeling better. You too, cherry.

Sorry if I've left anyone out.

Today was not good. I walked out of work. . After a couple of hours, I walked back in (!) but I need a plan of action as at this rate I'm going to be impacting my health. Just so fed up . Oh, and my friend's Dad died this morning of kidney cancer. Just 2 weeks ago they said about 3 months left, but in the end he went very quickly. Such a horrible disease, and a horrible way to die. Sorry, very maudlin end to my post. I could really do with a bar of chocolate to cheer myself up, but luckily there is none in the house

Tummum · 08/03/2010 18:55

Headless, I've re-read and realised my post could look really insensitive putting an envy face next to sympathies about MC. I'm sorry.

HeadlessLadyH · 08/03/2010 19:07

tum don't worry. It didn't read that way to me at all. Hope your work situation improves. You sound so down about it. And sorry to hear about your friends dad. Awful indeed.

cherry yes I think babies and indeed adults are programmed to perk up the moment the appointment is made.

younger glad to hear you are ok after today. Enjoy some rest.

I'm sorry to have brought up the MCs on this new happy thread ( not because of any other reason than its a bit ). I think I joined here at nearly 5 months into the pg because of my history - I just didn't want to either bring anyone down or get involved only to have to withdraw and don't think I really mentionned them before. Lets not mention them again?

runningmonkey · 08/03/2010 19:09

younger so glad that it went ok. I hope you are currently tucking into something totally yum as a reward.

saus and others I am quite glad I am not the only one as was starting to worry about the lack of action!

blotted glad you are ok, I saw on fb the nightmare you are having with your redundancy, etc. I hope this year brings better luck your way.

Hi cherrytom nice to 'see' you. Sorry J is ill. And yes, A always seems to perk up as soon as we get to the Dr's. My mum has a theory that there is some special drug pumped into the air in them that makes you feel instantly better and sorry you wasted their time

we have clapping in our house too, and waving. A also seems to like cocking one leg out to the side like a dog having a pee classy girl.

hope your shift has gone ok belg

Sorry to hear all those MC stories. I have a friend who has had several who I just find amazing for her strength in getting through them, especially since a lot of her friends have had babies in the meantime. She is currently pg though and due end May this year

headless your hol sounds fab. I went skiing a couple of times as a kid but haven't since, would like to go again at some point, think I'd like to try boarding as I can surf (not v well though!) but think I might just look a bit stupid as it does seem to be a sport for young 'uns.

flip poor your DD's with their illnesses and poor you too. Hope they recover quickly so you can get some sleep and rest yourself.

I'm afraid that's all the nc'ing I can remember for now - I am no Fi

I had a lovely lunch with my friend, a great gossip about his exciting london life and our mutual friends. He kept A entertained but was too scared to hold her! I can report that I had one small glass of sauvignon blanc. It was lush

DH is out at the moment looking at some potential new cars for us - our beetle is just too impractical and now we've sold the campervan () we need something bigger for our camping holidays. It means I had to do bathtime for a change. A looked confused the whole time and was looking around the bathroom door when I got her out. DH will be pleased to have been missed

Right, am going to sign off for the night I think, got to finish knitting the cardigan I've been knitting A since before Christmas. I must finish it before my friend comes to visit from Scotlad - she gave me the pattern in November!!

OP posts:
runningmonkey · 08/03/2010 19:15

x-posts tum and headless tum sorry you are having such an awful time at work. I don't have any sensible advice to give I'm afraid. So sorry about your friend's Dad too.

OP posts:
HeadlessLadyH · 08/03/2010 19:20

running I didn't know you were a fellow Beetle owner too. I am loathe to get rid of mine even though it is not a practical car with 2 DCs.

muddleddaizy · 08/03/2010 19:46

Hi there, I waited for the dust to settle before coming on to this thread.
Spring glad all went well today.

Belgina hope 1st shift went well.

Sorry this is going to be a real post and run. Dh wants laptop and ds2 is still awake as he had a late sleep this afternoon and he's teething so very delicate and thoroughly miserable! We even had to postpone going out for our wedding anniversary tonight as I didn't think it fair on my mum to leave him with her!

Hope to post more tomorrow. Night all!

youngerthanspringtime · 08/03/2010 19:51

saus, about you being preg since 2004, bet that was news to you! I'll blame the effect of sedation drugs still lingering. Seriously, the nurse who briefed me actually used the word 'amnesia' when talking about the sedation .

FiByTheIcySea · 08/03/2010 19:59

evening

my NC won't be as good tonight i fear as it's been a tiring day.. started at 5am ish snap headless with DS bouncing in raring to go... oh for the days he sleeps until 6.30am!

Hiya blotted lovely to 'see' you again. Sorry to hear your MP still isn't sorted but have to say I love the orange hat & can definitely see similarities in your girls! The raspberry photo is just delicious

running sorry to hear you still have poorlies. I hope the AB's kick in fast for them.

younger So glad to hear all went ok today. I was thinking of you and hope you're now sated after a scrumptious dinner.

sausage I will pretend you never said a word! But if it makes you feel any better I can still count on one hand the number of times we've done 'it'!

skiing I don't know how! but it is something i've always fancied trying...

mc's i'm very lucky to not have had any but friends of mine have. So hard to watch them go through let alone be the one it's happened to. hugs to all that have to go through it.

clapping G loves to see us clap. It really makes her giggle & she tries to do the same but it kinda goes all wonky great fun. I do kisses too but all i get in return are raspberries!

belgina i hope your day at work flew by and you're not too exhausted.

pula I hope your full week flies by and yay to only having 3 days next week.

tummum sorry to hear about your friends dad. Your work must be really bad if it's making you want to walk out. What does your DH suggest? I have had jobs where i counted the seconds I had left to go until time to go home (usually from when i first arrived) and over the many months it really wore me down... it's not a good situation to be in.

That's all i can remember without my double window method so i'll just say hi to everyone else & hit post to find the probable numerous xposts

youngerthanspringtime · 08/03/2010 20:06

Night, muddled! LadyH, don't you worry about talking about things like MC here. we're here to talk/listen and be support for each other.

Tumm, so sorry you had a bad day . YOu're right about a plan of action for the job, it's just so difficult to know what to do sometimes. I hope you can sort things out. About your friend's dad, very . horrible, horrible disease. anyway, I hope good things happen to you tomorrow.

running, glass of SBlanc, mmmmm. also v impressed on the knitting regardless of when you started. Knitting is something I wish I could learn to do but not sure I have the patience.

febes, when are you moving btw? do you have a date or waiting for the house to sell? all very exciting.

i'm waiting for my food right now . DH is making me a steak sandwich, philadelphia style with mushrooms and onions. earlier I had a bacon and brie sandwich but could only eat half. I think my eyes are bigger than my stomach at the moment .

febes · 08/03/2010 20:09

Fi What's your NS news??? Come on!!

I have my first supply day tomorrow . I have made the DCs a chicken pie for their lunch, sterilised my breast pump, written a list of times and routiney things for SIL who is looking after DCs, made my lunch... what am I forgetting?? I need to sort something out to wear. It will involve pop socks no doubt.
