He definitely had some spots pop up overnight in the nappy area. All around his little willy Inside his bum, in crevases where nappy lies... yuck. He's got them all over his face, on his scalp, on eye lid, one in the corner of his eye, in his ears, on his tummy and back, on his neck, in the folds of his neck. They haven't stopped coming. When will it stop?
Do they do calpol in supository (sp I know!) form here? I NEED to get something in him to get his fever down. What anti itch syrup tastes the best? He's refusing calpol now after having tasted piritol. DH is home with him today. I'm sure he'll be a sticky mess when I get home, but what can I do? I'll be home with him tomorrow. If he's all better on thurs and just spotty, he can go to cm as he's alone with her (no other kids) for thurs and fri this week anyway. But if he's still feverish...etc I'll keep him home more days.

He's not itching them
he sort of rubs his belly... but doesn't actively scratch. Maybe there is something not quite right with him...
I got calamine cream last night.
I couldn't find bicarb of soda. Where is it? Would baking soda do in a pinch? or baking powder?

sorry for the selfish post. We were up most of the night again. Q up for the day at around 3.30am... big improvement from last night.

Don't get too broody, 50ft - imagine them all getting ill at once.

Cute "meow" HMM Q says "moo" for every animal now (he didn't do this before...) except cats and birds, which he smacks his lips together and apart beckoning them to come with a kissy noise.

csws - stuff to go in the doll's house?

ronshar · 27/04/2010 12:56

Star get DH to take Q to the local Pharmacy. They can give you everything you need. Dont need to go to the doctors for this one.

Pepper, what are you going to call your Hernia? Herman is a catchy one!

Stop encouraging 50ft. How on earth can she afford another baby? M would be nappy less & Converse less in no time

My eyes oh my eyes. I am in so much pain. Bastard Birch trees.
If you see on the news that a woman has gone crazy on the south coast and has cut down all the Birch trees. That will have been me. Just to let you know.

StarExpat · 27/04/2010 13:05

Ronshar - if we take him out, people will run from us and give us angry looks, I'm sure. Not all have scabbed over so he's quite contagious still. But... that might be the best way to get to the front of the line....

ronshar · 27/04/2010 13:07

Ok pop in on your way home. I thought it would be easier for DH to pop out as you are at work.

StarExpat · 27/04/2010 13:20

rofl easier for dh. lol lol lol

pistachio.
But we'll expect you to be back to moaning and whinging about them tomorrow .

Star - i've just had to google baking soda, as I wasn't really sure what it was (as opposed to baking powder), and it is bicarb of soda! So yes, it will be fine! I don't think that your dh should take Q out actually, when he's so contagious. He needs to stay in until all of the spots have properly crusted over.
We've only used piriton as anti-itch, so not sure what other options are available. What about mixing his medicines in with other stuff that you know he will drink? I bet you wouldn't notice a few spoons of gunk in a smoothie for example.

Dolls house is already furnished star, but thanks for suggestion.

Oh, and if you had £40 to spend on real nappies for a chunky 18 month old boy, what would you get oh wise ones?

OP posts:
StarExpat · 27/04/2010 14:36

Well, not sure... but I do know that would buy a lot of pampers!

StarExpat · 27/04/2010 14:37

Pistachio.

CantSleepWontSleep · 27/04/2010 14:45

I don't think that my local council will let me claim £40 for buying pampers though star .

OP posts:
CantSleepWontSleep · 27/04/2010 14:49

Oh how disappointing - I thought I'd be able to claim for the new baby too, but it says only one claim per family, rather than one per child.

50ftQueenie · 27/04/2010 17:20

Well, BumGenius pockets are nice and simple plus effective. They are DH friendly too as pocket nappies are pretty fool proof. It is Real Nappy Week this week so you should be able to get some bargains! The BumGenius are also one size fits most so you'd be able to use them on the new baby too once the new born pooing has calmed down (pockets are not so good for newborn poo). The waist tabs on M's BumGenius still overlap so there should be plenty of room for D. I can lend you my one if you don't mind that a) it's pink and b) you might not be able to test it out before RNW finishes. You can borrow an Itti AIO too if you'd like but it will probably be a bit low in the rise for D. I'm sure Myjob will be along with an opinion soon....

Not feeling broody today. Phew!

Be back later for proper catching up.

Dh managed ok with the fluffles we had for dd actually, so he's not too bad on that front.
I've been looking at weenotions this afternoon (just online, not in the flesh) and love some of their fabrics (although many aren't available with the type of nappy I'd ideally have from them). Have you tried those?

I assumed that I'd be able to get discounts due to it being RNW, but how? There's nothing mentioned on the weenotions website.

OP posts:
CantSleepWontSleep · 27/04/2010 18:19

I want one in this fabric!

OP posts:
CantSleepWontSleep · 27/04/2010 18:36

And have any of you tried cushie tushies?
Pistachio - what fits T best?

I really should dig out my fluffles and see if they fit him or not shouldn't I. Can't remember what sizes I have. And I have a couple of another make whose name I can't remember too. Then i could buy for new baby instead .
These aren't too girly for a boy are they? Can just imagine him wandering around the garden in summer in one of these and his bright yellow rainbowbabies t-shirt!

OP posts:
StarExpat · 27/04/2010 19:46

there are spots all over his scalp... he looks like he has the plague. He's now rubbing his face for relief. and his willy. There are loads of spots all around his willy... and one right on it near the tip

csws I still say buy the pampers. Really, a toddler, a newborn and dd, all that nappy washing...will you have help when baby is born?
I guess I'm just thinking how inept I would be you'll be fine!

CantSleepWontSleep · 27/04/2010 19:52

oh I doubt that I'll switch to them full time star (with ds anyway, not sure about with new baby yet - we used from birth with dd), but I don't like to look a gift horse in the mouth!

for the CP. It's horrible, but thankfully only lasts a few days.

OP posts:
StarExpat · 27/04/2010 19:54

only a few days? That's promising! So, tomorrow he shoudl be looking better?

CantSleepWontSleep · 27/04/2010 19:58

I think you'll find that the definition of a few is anywhere between 3 and 9. Expecting 3 is prob a bit ambitious, but the worst of it should be over in 4 or 5 I would think. Prob a couple of days more than that for them to at least mostly crust over.

OP posts:
CantSleepWontSleep · 27/04/2010 20:15

Ah, just noticed how to get 10% off weenotions, so ignore that bit of my earlier post. Is that about the norm for discounts atm?

pepperrabbit · 27/04/2010 20:26

Evening all. CSWS, this real nappy talk is like a foreign language to me
ronshar - I thought I'd call my hernia Jeff actually
Not really looking forward to a CT scan tomorrow for the real problem though I have persuaded my lovely SIL to look after DD so i don't have to tell my MIL and ask her. I cannot bear the way she rings constantly in a nauseating simpering voice to ask how I am so I never ever tell her if anythings wrong. She's bad enough about my wrist, imagine how over the top she'd go about Jeff and an unidentified stomach thing.....
