What a bummer HMM. I was thinking about you today and wondering how the camping was going. Where did you go, anyway?

CSWS - I somehow missed your post about sciatica before. DP gets it sometimes and I know it's agony for him. Must be awful combined with all the other pregnancy discomforts. So, presumably ds still wants to be carried everywhere?

We were in your neck of the woods today Star. We had an impromptu trip to Kew Gardens which was lovely. S was thoroughly exercised and went to sleep very easily. I really hope we've worn him out enough to make him sleep well, as the last week has been hellish, sleep-wise.

LOL about the birthing pool ball pit, pistachio! Sounds like fun!!

Aubergenie - it's so nice there, isn't it? I hope you had a good night sleep!

I hope your night was better too, HMM.

Dh being such a meanie last night. I have disagreed with a lot of things he's said lately about selling our place and stuff he wants to do to it still. He said "I hate talking to you. I really do" And wouldn't apologize. Then he told me it's ridiculous how I always say "well, I've been chasing after/looking after Q all day" when he says he's been working on the house all day. He said it's a privilege to be able to spend time with him and I shouldn't moan about it. I never MOAN about it. I only said it to point out that I wasn't sitting at home on my a* while he was working.

So, he emailed me an apology this morning saying that I have no idea how much pressure he is under at work right now and he knows he lets it build up and then takes it out on me and he's sorry but he's having a hard time controlling it
He said he feels badly and doesn't know why he says the things he does, doesn't think before they come out and doesn't mean most of what he says, he's just stressed because he feels at this point like he might not pass the next assessment with this b**ch assessor lady.

Well, Q got up at 2am "up up up!" Seemed a bit warm, but calpol and fine. Fussed a bit. Went back to sleep for about 30 minutes at some point... but I've been up since 2am. Lovely.
I also think he has the chicken pox. Everyone keeps telling me I'm over reacting.
But I'm telling you... I think it's chicken pox. He had some red bumps fri afternoon - saw nurse at gp surgery, got told I'm over reacting. Nothing sat or sun... but last night 2 on his stomach got bigger. This morning, those two look like they've bled. He's got one that looks like a fluid filled blister on his foot and "normal" red bumps appeared (4 of them) in the car on the way to the cm. I explained all of this to her... she was happy to take him.... He seems well other than that he's really tired from being up at 2am for the day. He went straight from me, cuddled up on my shoulder to her, same position..
but she text me that he's up and about playing happily now. So, maybe it's not, who knows?
I think it's chicken pox. He's got another one forming on the crease where his nappy is

CantSleepWontSleep · 26/04/2010 10:01

Oh star . I was just coming on to post to see how you were after your fb status last night.
Re the chicken pox, you'll know within a few hours, as if it is then he will be covered in them by then. Once they start coming properly they come thick and fast! You know how to treat if it is yes? Def make sure you have lots of bicarb of soda in, and bath him in it regularly to ease the itching. And piriton syrup. And calamine cream, not lotion.

OP posts:
pepperrabbit · 26/04/2010 10:09

oh yes, calamine lotion made no difference when mine had it.
Fluid filled blisters sounds about right, and as CSWS says, they appear quite quickly once they get going. If you're up for entertainment, pop him in a warm bath and watch them appear!
Hope you're doing ok today, can't imagine controlling a class full of kids on 3 hours sleep
Quite taken aback by your DH actually realising he's been unreasonable . Still all about him all the time though
take care x

StarExpat · 26/04/2010 10:12

Well, he developed a few just on the car ride. cm hasn't contacted me at all... maybe it's not.
Ok, baking soda in water, piriton syrup and calamine cream if it is. Thanks!

It's a busy week for me this week as we have accreditation visitors coming from America and there's a lot to be done (a bit like ofsted... but much less focused on paperwork and much more focused on the actual stuff we're doing). My principal chose me to be the one to represent all lower school teachers in a meeting with them
Hopefully it all goes well!

CantSleepWontSleep · 26/04/2010 10:14

NOT baking soda star - bicarb of soda, which is diff (isn't baking powder a mix of bicarb and cream of tartar or something?).

OP posts:
StarExpat · 26/04/2010 10:16

oh, we have baking soda and baking powder. Will need to buy bicarb of soda.

cm says he seems fine and isn't worried about spots so maybe I am over reacting. or maybe it's just a really mild case.

Star - DS had chickenpox when he was 18 months. HE had a handful of spots, a very slight temperature but no other symptoms at all. He was fine, a bit clingy, but nothing too serious. I honestly thought the doctor would laugh at us when we took hi as I was convinced that he just had a few bites.... I think they generally get it very mildly at this age. I'm not going to say anything about your H. I think I have run out of things to say. I will say.... you deserve better, so so so so much better!

Hello everyone.

I am PAINFULLY broody at the moment! Someone please slap me.

StarExpat · 26/04/2010 14:10

SLAP!

Thanks 50ft and pistachio. I'm hoping that's what it is. A mild case. I feel badly that he's at cm right now if it is what it is, though... but he's the only one there.

I had it at 4 months, mild. Then again a few years ago (20s). Wasn't very nice at all, but not as bad as it could have been.

All 3 of mine had it pretty much together when DD was 4 months, DS1 worse, then DS2 pretty bad and DD was def spotty, but not as miserable as the others, though it was obviously CP.
I have just been for another consultant appt about this persistent pain in my side. He thinks it's nothing too serious btu I have CT scan booked for Wed, so hopefully it'll be sorted soon...but.... he took one look at my tummy and said I had a hernia... (as well this is)
I had no idea, he looked at me oddly - and said, it's here, in your tummy button.
I HONESTLY thought my tummy button had just exploded with 3 rapid pregnancies but I can have it sorted!!!!
Am thrilled, cos it actually looks as if I've grown a thumb shape out of my tummy and sticks out a tiny bit if I wear a tight TShirt.
He said no-one had ever been that thrilled to have a hernia. with the subtext that only a muppet would think your tummy button can explode inside you....

pepperrabbit · 26/04/2010 14:48

Oh yes - SLAP 50ft! HTH.

50ftQueenie · 26/04/2010 15:54

Pistachio - I am worried because it's the wrong time of the month for me to be hormonal (day three of period)! I'm still sure it will pass, DS is home from school now so I'm sure that will help speed the process along.

Pepper - I too was very happy to have a hernia! I thought my stomach was going to be permanently lumpy and deformed! I don't think the idea of an exploded belly button is that far fetched, in a way it HAS exploded....

lol at enjoying the hernia, pepper!
Spots coming thick and fast tonight. there's one in his ear even... the worst one - is inside his mouth on the roof of his mouth - it's red with pus - I saw it when giving him the piritol (which he does not like). Poor baby I can't get his fever down completely. I got it down from 39.2 to 38.8 and before bed it was 38.4. His forehead, bottoms of feet ( ) tummy, back and neck are so hot to the touch.
some spots just red, others have pus, others blistering others scabbed. It's not very nice. Poor little doodle.

Pistachio - we'll all hold you responsible when 50ft announces she's pg in a few weeks, then

ronshar · 26/04/2010 21:22

SLAP and another SLAP with the back of my hand.

Come to my house 50ft. That will cure you for sure.

Star, poor Q. Try another anti histamine if Q isnt keen on Piriton. Lots of naked time for Q helps keep the itch down.

Myjob. Sounds like you had a good holiday. I have a link on my FB of H doing Giants on the bar. Tiny girl flying round in circles

CantSleepWontSleep · 26/04/2010 22:02

Poor Q. I remember dd being covered in spots all over her girly bits - in the creases and everything - that must have been really sore. She was just a little bit older than Q is now. But on the bright side, she only has 1 scar from it, from the 'mother spot' - just at the top of where the nappy goes to the side of her tummy.

No slaps from me 50ft. I am the bad fairy!

Congratulations on the hernia pepper .

CantSleepWontSleep · 26/04/2010 22:04

Does anyone have any great ideas for what the new baby can buy dd and/or ds please? Am really struggling to come up with something fab, esp for dd. Ds bought her her dolls house, so the bar has been set very high!

Honeymoonmummy · 26/04/2010 22:17

Ha ha ha ha Pepper! Did he say that it's a hernia if you have a big spare tyre where a little spare tyre used to be?? [HMM books appointment with doctor in hope of winning the hernia lottery]

Better nights sleep last night, thanks, she woke up and took a while to settle but was about 11pm so not too bad then slept till 7.30. She has quite a bad cough, not really got worse since camping but prob didnt help, so DH has said no to camping this weekend until we see how she does with the cough.

Star, I think it's really nice that your DH has finally admitted some culpability. Poor old Q tho, are u gonna take him back to the nurse just to say "I told you so"???

She's sooo cute, said "meow" for first time tonight. She can now do 4 of those puzzles where you slot the shapes in, one of which she did yesterday having never seen it before [proud] We put her hair in bunches tonight for the first time, she looked sooooooooo cute!

Honeymoonmummy · 26/04/2010 22:19

Oh and I put on 4 pounds this last month Goddamn takeaways

aubergenie · 27/04/2010 06:43

Get well soon Q! I second the nappy-off suggestion. Those dark, damp areas were definitely the worst when S had it. Is the CM still OK to take him or are you going to have to stay home?

I couldnt possibly slap you 50ft, what with being ridiculously broody myself and all.
