star - mumsnet is famous for its members using the bottom butter on their skin. Our members caused a nationwide sell out of it 2 or 3 years ago, and it hit the press (back in the days when we weren't an everyday press occurrence).

Ekka - are you familiar with this site? They have little dairy free eggs, and they did have a dairy free bunny which I was going to order, but obv left it too late as it's disappeared from the site now, presumably because they have sold out. Worth bookmarking for next year maybe.

That is so typical. I am always the very, very last to hear about stuff like that. Same with gossip!

pepperrabbit · 31/03/2010 21:02

I love dolly mixture
CSWS glad D is better and Ekka sounds like you had a good birthday - did you come to any decisions about work?
We've had random vomiting here again we aere all ready for school yetsreday morning, and i mean, coats and everything, and I was just about to strap J in the buggy when DS1 threw up chocolate milk everywhere.... I had to wash down the walls after i sorted crowd control that is.
J was very upset to take her coat off again, DS2 couldn't go to preschool as I couldn't get him there with a poorly DS1. and Ds1 was just Covered.
And i thought Monday was bad!
I have to have some tests for my tummy thing, the blood test was obviously easy, now I have to have an ...oscopy. The GP said, in his jolly voice, "as your problem is right in the middle, I don't know if they'll want to go upfrom the bottom, or down from the top". sigh.

CantSleepWontSleep · 31/03/2010 21:04

Nice choice eh pepper .

Here star - 2 years old!

Oh sorry Ekka - those eggs contain soya .

OP posts:
StarExpat · 31/03/2010 21:08

damn. I really thought I made it up. It was given to me in a "Nappy Cake" from waitrose before DS was born... and I liked the smell and it works so well on Q so I tried it on me... and now it turns out I'm not the first to think of it! ah well, c'est la vie.

pepper your gp sounds absolutely charming

StarExpat · 31/03/2010 21:10

Ah, I used it on my hands.
They used it on their faces.
I am original after all

Ds still has red dry patches on the backs of his knees. They vary in severity, but have never cleared up completely.

Ekka - this would have been good, though also out of stock now. Have double checked is soya free too!

I am going to be all bah humbug. Easter has become as crap as christmas.
Just another over commercialised shop driven excuse to buy more crap for children, who lets face it dont need anything else!
I dont understand it.

Aveeno is the only cream that has got W's rampant scabby excema on his face under control. Thanks to you Star.

Pepper your house truely is the house of vom. Good luck with the cameras, which ever way it goes in

HMM is P only being sick before bed? Could she be having too much liquid? Just a thought.

Honeymoonmummy · 31/03/2010 21:59

Hi all, I'm a bottom butter fan too after reading it on MN, I use it on my hands too Star, I dont want to chance it on my face as my skin's really spotty sensitive so I stick to E45.

I've seen the doc with Pops and she's back on renitadine only, but doc also brought up (unilaterally) lactose intolerance and DH mentioned she's had looser stools for the last week, but he thought it was teething. Anyway, we're providing a stool sample and she'll send it off for allerfies including dairy - I seem to remember reading that it's not very reliable but is that just in v young babies?

I'm debating whether to come and take a day off work next week - it's a 3 hour drive, is that ridiculous??? What time are you all meeting, am I gonna hit rush hour, how easy is it to park in that area?

CantSleepWontSleep · 31/03/2010 22:07

Test not v reliable hmm, esp for intolerance rather than allergy, but can't hurt to do it I suppose. Presume she will test for milk protein and not just lactose, and the former is more common in this age group?

A 3 hour drive each way does sound a bit mad to me hmm, but it would be lovely to see you if you fancy it! Meeting at 10:30am. Clown Town itself is quite short on parking, but it's next to a huge Tesco which has a big car park, so shouldn't be a problem.

Can someone link to the EXACT Aveeno product please? I'm sure I looked for some once after it was mentioned on here, but I got confused.

Forgot to say that washing machine blew up our electrics today. I need my washing machine working, esp with a holiday to get ready for! First company we phoned couldn't come out to even look at it until next Thurs, but we've found another who are popping out tomorrow afternoon to at least have a look. I have wet washing still sitting in it .

Honeymoonmummy · 31/03/2010 22:15

I'll have a chat with DH about it, he'll prob agree with you that it's mad CSWS but it would be nice to see you all again and the LO's too. 10.30 start would mean us setting off at about 7ish so we might just get past Brum before the real probs start. Who's going, is it a big meet-up? Is it just a bog-standard playbarn? I'm just having a quick look for somewhere as a stopover overnight, would Luton be a good place to stop at a Travelodge or something so avoid the rush hour?

Honeymoonmummy · 31/03/2010 22:16

Sorry Ronshar, I missed your post! I think she is having too much liquid, is that all it could be? She always has a lot of milk but if we give her less she cries for more.

Honeymoonmummy · 31/03/2010 22:26

My battery is about to die so I'm logging off and going to bed. Night all.

CantSleepWontSleep · 31/03/2010 22:28

Yes, just a regular soft play. So far just me, star and aubergenie, and possibly Ekka and 50ft. I'm not letting you pay money to stay in a travelodge 10 mins from me hmm - you might as well stay here!

ronshar · 31/03/2010 22:34

CSWS. I have different varieties but the best one for W is the blue label, Skin Relief Moisturising Lotion, with Shea Butter and Triple Oat Complex. As long as I put it on constantly then it keeps on top of the spots and the red rash.

ronshar · 31/03/2010 22:49

HMM, maybe give her more stodgy food at tea time. Then she may not have such a strong desire for milk at bedtime.
Now that you are not BF at bed time you can give P her milk allowance during the daytime and slowly change her association of bed and milk.
It will also help when you are trying to get her dry at night soon during potty training

StarExpat · 01/04/2010 07:29

Ronshar I see your point about easter.... and christmas... . I'm all for a gift here and there but the consumerist mentality and kids learning to expect/anticipate gifts for every ocassion... it drives me batty!! Perhaps I'm a werido. So be it.

Honeymoonmummy · 01/04/2010 09:50

Stupid question - but how do you do painted eggs??? Just hard boil them then paint them?

Thanks CSWS, I wasn't fishing!! I'll have a chat with DH when I get a chance.

Ronshar, she has her milk allowance in the day, I reckon she drinks about 1.5 pints a day easily!

ronshar · 01/04/2010 10:24

HMM you make tiny holes either end of the egg then bloww out the runny bits. Wash carefully then paint. Carefully.

I personnally wouldnt be giving that much milk especially if P eats enough dairy in other forms. But then I am quite anti milk myself so not sure if I am the best person to be giving out milk advice.
Is the guideline at this age 1 pint??

Star you are only as weird as me my love

StarExpat · 01/04/2010 10:35

You can also boil them, let them cool, then paint them. That's the way I've always done it. Blown eggs sometimes but they are harder for littles as they crack. And you can eat the boiled eggs later.

Give her more cheese...etc. And other stuff filling like oats... it will decrease milk intake.

I don't like loads of milk intake either.

StarExpat · 01/04/2010 10:39

Happy to be your fellow, anti- ott-pressies-all-the-time weirdo, Ronshar

Ekka · 01/04/2010 11:17

We do decorated eggs, but no painting. Save up onion skins (red onions are best) or collect gorse flowers , lay a layer of them in an old square of shirt, wrap round the uncooked egg (adding extra onion skins/flowers as you wrap, so the whole egg is covered) and tie it up in a sort of parcel then add to boiling water and hard boil (about 15 mins). Leave to cool and they come out coloured. Mind you it really only works well with really white eggs, not the brown ones we usually get!

We also do what my mum calls 'japping' (I think) the eggs. You each take one of the hard boiled eggs and then pair up and hit them together (sharp end to sharp end and then blunt end to blunt end) the ones whose eggs don't break then try each other till you come out with a 'winner' whose egg (or at least one end of it) is unbroken.... Then you eat the eggs . Think its a northern thing - she is from Northumberland, I've never heard any of my friends from down South talk about doing this!

Yup, my family is just as weird as anyone elses!!!!

50ftQueenie · 01/04/2010 11:36

Hello all. Dh is working on the 8th. An we wouldn't have a car anyway as my brother is back from snow boarding and needs his car back!

We do small gifts at Easter but only to avoid them getting swamped in chocolate. M will be having a TINY bit as she tends to go a but crazy when she has sugar. Plus she is getting porky & won't stop eating, which is fine as long as we stick with healthy food. I'm still not sure about M & dairy. Her bottom is horrible again so we are trying wheat free to see if that's the problem. Her tummy was fine when she was having milk and eating with me, so maybe it is wheat...

Hmm - Hope you get to the bottom of what's causing P's sickness. And I can recommend Hotel CSWS. Actually, that would be a rubbish name for a hotel. Who'd want to stay there?!

Pepper - Eeeek to either option. Hope it's not too traumatic and at least gives you some answers!

I'm struggling to keep up!

DS is being sort of bullied at school by an unpleasant little shit of a child (the one with the mobile phone). Every single day poor DS is either slapped, kicked, punched or pushed over by this brat and yesterday came home with a huge plaster over a slice in his hand that had happened when said vile creature pushed him over for no reason. I have witnessed the slapping and I told the nasty little future criminal to stop it as his benefit cheat mother did nothing. I have told DS that I am going to talk to the school about it but he doesn't want me to because the boy has told him that if he tells, he'll stop another of their friends from being friends with DS, plus he also thinks of the horrible turd child as his friend. We're going to speak to the school anyway but not tell DS as we don't want to upset him.
