It's changed hands since I last went, but I'd imagine that the food is still fine if you are 4 or like an occasional bit of crap in your diet. I'm not sure that it will be up to your health conscious standards though!
Dd loves chips, so as long as they sell them, which they certainly did, she will be happy.

StarExpat · 30/03/2010 20:02

I'm ok with crap food once in a while.
And I'd like for Q to eat chips for once. He'll eat the sweet potato ones that I bake at home sometimes but have yet to see him actually enjoy real chips anywhere. I don't eat them really so maybe that's why. I just feel like it's a way in to potatoes. He'll eat sweet potato just not white ones. Sweet potato are more nutrient rich anyway, but so many recipes with potato it seems.

We can eat there if everyone would like... I'm just thinking with dcs it might be easier to do that then to pack them up, drive somewhere else, get them out again...etc. Or am I being over dramatic about that?

CantSleepWontSleep · 30/03/2010 20:11

No I agree that it would def be easier to eat there .

Thanks for all the birthday wishes! I had a lovely day and just popped in to catch up a bit. Had a useful chat at work and then met up with a friend for lunch and my dsis for dinner, so I've had plenty of wine and loads of food. I shouldn't have worn heels though, my feet are killing me - the sacrifices we make...

CSWS, glad to hear D has ABs lets hope that he feels much better soon.

If there is space for us on 8th we might be interested in coming too, but I'd have to look up the journey before I commit to it! I'm off to bed now, though, so will check it out another day.

ronshar · 30/03/2010 22:29

Very quickly.
The Paultons park in Hampshire has an offer on at the moment. If you use the code HAPPY then you get a discount off a family ticket. It can be used whenever you want. The code runs out tomorrow I think.

ronshar · 30/03/2010 22:52

Myjob. I have just prepaid for a family of three. Discount of £10. So I only paid £40 rather than £50.

We can meet there in the May half term if you are free?

StarExpat · 31/03/2010 08:39

myjob when you visited me you said ds was going to be poorly behaved and that you were a shouty mummy and he was a sweet angel and you're a great mummy! So, what I'm saying is, I don't believe you

What is Paulton's Park? I'll have to have a look.

Definitely join us Ekka.
Yes, spaces still available

Still not sure about DH's days off. He is too stressed at work to think about it at the moment because it's ISA season! He didn't get home until 9.30 last night.

M is growing up too fast. Today she managed to put on her own vest, her top (with a little help from me with the head) AND her dress (I had to put her arms in the arm holes though). DS wouldn't couldn't get himself dressed until he was about 2.5!

Ekka - Happy birthday for yesterday! Hope you had a fabulous day! How is M's bottom now?

CSWS - Hope poor D is back to his lovely self again now. Ear infections are horrible.

StarExpat · 31/03/2010 13:37

50ft well done M! Q has no interest in dressing himself or wearing clothes at all.

He's getting really good at taking clothes off, though. The only article of clothing he seems really interested in wearing are his fleecy feet pajamas. If he spots them he'll bring them to me and nod ferociously, sit down and stick his feet up to put them on! .

Sorry to hear about stressful work for dh

CantSleepWontSleep · 31/03/2010 13:39

D much better today thank you.
Which is more than can be said for this miserable weather! Really hope it picks up before we go away.

Hoping that your dh can come next week 50ft. I haven't mentioned it to mine yet (don't know if he's read for himself or not yet, but guess not as he's not mentioned it), but if yours is coming then I know that mine def will, as today is his last day of work until he finds a new contract.

Hi all, just a quick note as I'm at work. I've only read this page, are you planning a meet-up?

What are you all doing about easter eggs for your LO's? Are any of you letting your younger LO's eat chocolate generally or not? Poppy's never had any. I'm wondering just to let her have a bit for easter or get people to buy her a cupcake or something instead. What are you all doing?

Also, Pops' reflux has come back She projectile vomited last night, so I'm awaitoing a call back from the doc to see what medication they suggest, she's been off all meds for about 3-4 weeks now so they've obv worked their way out of her system, it's been building up to this, she's had sicky burps etc for a week or so.

StarExpat · 31/03/2010 13:53

Q has had chocolate once in a while after turning 1. It doesn't hurt them . We don't make a big deal of easter. I doubt Q will notice at this age if he gets an easter egg or not. if he happens on some chocolate, he can have it. If not, he won't have it.

I don't think anyone will buy him anything for easter, either... maybe that's another thing i'm missing out on! Holidays seem to be quite consumerist here... I thought it was bad in america...(not a dig at the uk, just strange observation). I didn't realize stuff was exchanged at easter.

When I was little and we were old enough to understand it we did an egg hunt (boiled eggs coloured with dyes on teh shells) and got a chocolate bunny in a basket of grass - but after church of course. We hadn't thought about it for Q... because he's too young to really "get it".

But if someone gives him some chocolate, he can certainly eat it. He ate a bit last night from Dh's treat

CantSleepWontSleep · 31/03/2010 14:02

Hmm - if she's been cutting down her bf and upping her cows milk or formula then it's more likely her milk intolerance causing the vomming than her reflux. Have you considered switching her to oat milk instead to see how she gets on?

I'll prob try and find something sweet for ds to eat, but have left it too late to find nice dairy free easter stuff online. I wouldn't bother normally, but dd will get stuff, and it'll cause a squabble if he's left out. Think I have some df lollies in the fridge that he can always have, and will look for some little marshmallows or something.

KSal · 31/03/2010 14:46

HMM, can I chuck in my two pence worth re the reflux?

Emma was on infant gaviscon until she was about 1. She is basically better, but i think she will always be a bit more prone to vomming than your average kid. e.g. she occasionally still has sicky burps and will occasionally bring up all or most of her bedtime feed. Its something i have kind of accepted and i am very careful about burping her before bed (and am always very releived when she doesn't follow through). I have noticed that she seems to be worse when she has a cold, presumably because there is more mucous and/or her throat is more swollen or she's coughing more, which can trigger a puke.

but then again... as they say... no two children are alike

StarExpat · 31/03/2010 14:54

So Easter is like christmas then? Children are normally given presents and sweets?

Well, then... maybe I'll get Q a new toy!

StarExpat · 31/03/2010 14:57

SOrry, know nothing of the reflux. But I think csws is wise with the oatmilk. Oatmilk is so good for them, anyway

Q had a desperately awful coughing fit last night and I had to use the stupid inhaler to help him catch his breath. It was only once, though, after that, no more. CM says he gets the bad coughs when he's running around outside a lot.

Honeymoonmummy · 31/03/2010 15:14

Ksal, that's an interesting point, thanks. Pops has had a cold for the last three months so it could be because of that. CSWS, I did wonder if it was due to stopping the BF but more because the flow is much slower when BF and she's such a little piggy she downs the cows milk so quickly! She's been on cows milk during the day for months now and she's had it alternate nights for about a month so I'm not sure it's a dairy problem. I've been about 5-6 days not BF now so I doubt there'll be much more left, I assume it takes about a week to stop? She's shown no interest anyway. I am still sad when I think about it but I'm trying not to think about it! Anyway, I've got a docs appointment tonight so I'll see what they say. Thanks folks.

Where's the meet-up then?

StarExpat · 31/03/2010 15:20

Meet up clown town in finchley (I think) on 8th April at 10.30am

StarExpat · 31/03/2010 20:28

where is everyone?
Out buying easter eggs?

Do people do the colouring of hard boiled or blown eggs here? I haven't seen the kits in the shops... though, admittedly, haven't been in an actual shop lately... just online
And never looked other years here as we didn't really think about that stuff, being childless and not huge on that sort of thing.

Ekka · 31/03/2010 20:43

Star - we have always given easter eggs and something religious in my family (eg a book about the easter story etc). But only tiny eggs when we were little. Sadly this year, we couldn't find anything for M that was small and non-chocolate, so both dcs will be getting a largish box of sweets. However, what will happen is that the sweets end up in the sweets cupboard and get cooked with/eaten over the next year (and probably used at parties and made up into bags for Xmas stocking fillers ).

M's bottom is a bit better, but he is soooo itchy and getting dry skin again. It may be the weather, I'm not certain - I can't see anything in his diet that could be causing it.

CSWS - glad to hear D is feeling better. Dolly mixtures are dairy free - we bought a metal egg with truffles in from Waitrose, removed the truffles and put in a load of dolly mixtures for him for his egg from the toddler group party. He was thrilled with the noise they made but hasn't yet worked out that you can eat them

StarExpat · 31/03/2010 20:47

Creative idea with that egg, Ekka!
Poor M with his skin Did you say you've tried Elidel before? I know I can go on a bit about that... it's just such a good cream (and steroid free but you wouldn't know it!)
Then, the steriod cream fucibet for more severe...I'm sure you've tried everything under the sun, though

I've discovered waitrose bottom butter also works wonders on adult skin. I know it sounds weird but in the dry weather, with dry hands, you just wouldn't believe what it can do!! Try it, ladies!
