Zulu, d'ya fancy a meet-up in Edin in April? Meadows/Botanics/somewhere else chid friendly, perhaps indoors? We could try and rope Frekkles in.
Or would meeting me be too disappointing, like meeting a character from a soap and discovering she has horrible brats and bad breath?
(Boff survived, though...)

I am meant to be doing sit-ups. Will be back later.

AuldAlliance · 07/03/2010 19:18

chid-friendly?

I meant child, obv.

But please feel free to bring any chids, chads or chods you wish.

Schulte · 07/03/2010 19:37

Oooooooh

I have a shiny new ipod

I'm so excited

All because DD1 has hidden my old one somewhere...

Schulte · 07/03/2010 19:37

I keep trying to log on as Feierabend. Very confusing.

Bicnod · 07/03/2010 20:41

WR - our new doors make a gentle thunk as well its a silver vauxhall corsa and i'm in love with it. we bought oscar a new forward facing car seat today as well and he LOVES it - he was so fed up with facing backwards. it'll make the 5 hour journey to cornwall on wed a tad more bearable. i'm a bit scared thought as i haven't actually driven said car yet and i have to drive oscar to swimming on tuesday all on my own. what if i ruin it???? eeek.

Boff - yep, we need to bring back nutty. at least WFH is back to being WFH. or maybe she should even become littlemy again. i couldn't ever namechange from bicnod. i am bicnod.

schulte, i still think of you as fei . ipods are sooooooooo cool - i love mine so much. i have an ipig to plug it into in the kitchen.

auld how is the house situation?

off to watch 24 in bed with cammommile tea again

BoffinMum · 07/03/2010 20:59

How about LuLuBai2?

Auld, you're right, it was bloody awful when me met, given that you're a 32 stone slapper, and that I am in fact a transgendered hairy biker called Gareth in RL, but we both survived, didn't we?

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 07/03/2010 22:04

Hello hello

Am not going to go back to being littlemy I'm afraid, but I never really took to TwilightTurtle.

Evening everyone, haven't a hope in hell of catching up I'm afraid. I gather that Feier is in hiding after riling the SN community, kingbeat is fighting her own Egyptian plague of ladybirds (we have hundreds too, strange), Moo is walking, some crazy people are TTC, and Auld is feeling a bit down.

Here Auld, have a . It's got chocolate on it.

I still seem to be living in interesting times, as the Chinese say. Mum's operation was meant to be last Thursday, but was then postponed to Friday, and then she was bumped AGAIN in favour of some other un deserving patient. We're now hoping for Tuesday, but to be honest the waiting is doing our heads in. Poor Mum was in floods of tears when they told her on Friday, she'd got as far as seeing the anaesthetist in the morning and then poof, her slot was annexed.

My dad has been staying with us and is finding it really hard, he's an anxious person at the best of times and this is really taking its toll. Have also had various other relatives breezing through, which means getting on with getting the new house sorted has been slow progress. Just about starting to feel like home now.

The prognosis is basically that if they can get it all out with this surgery, then she has a reasonable chance of survival as long as the cancer doesn't recur, but if they can't get it out then things are not looking good. So we're all hoping it goes well on Tuesday, assuming they actually do it.

Orbit starts nursery tomorrow..... Am feeling really sad that my mat leave is practically over and the last few months have just slipped by without me doing anything special with Orbit, I've been so busy with moving house and Mum etc. He's only been swimming about twice in his life, and we did a music class for about three months but then had to stop as things got so hectic. I'm thinking of keeping him at home on Tuesdays just while I'm taking my accrued leave, and at least taking him to a baby gym class or something.

He's also still a rubbish sleeper, haven't had the time to take it all in hand, but basically he won't go to sleep without being cuddled to sleep. Am about to order the NCSS book, as I'm running out of ideas.

Ho hum.

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 07/03/2010 22:08

Almost forgot - work has announced new structure for my department, and is now assessing us all against the new roles, so I should find out at the end of May if I actually still have a job or not. Deep joy.

And Orbit won't take a bottle, either, or milk in a cup. Nursery are going to hate me - won't sleep, won't drink

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 07/03/2010 22:24

By the way, why does noone have their floaty status enabled?

Get with the programme, ladies.

ZuluWarrior · 07/03/2010 22:46

Auld, would love to. I have a bit of a thing about 32 stone slappers . It would be great to rope Frekkles in too - I once thought she'd make me feel like a middle-aged frump but recently have been wondering if she's actually quite wise.... It'd be great to get the Alexander/dres together too!

Shiny new i-pods and cars abound. I have a new land line phone if that counts?

WFH, you're having a shitty time. The plight of the NHS patients who needs an operation that isn't quite immediately life saving is so, so awful. There is no provision unless you're actually haemorrhaging there and then. It must be so heartbreaking to get all geared up and then be put off at the last minute. Thinking of you. Oh, and Orbit will be fine. You're doing you're best for him and you love him. The rest is window dressing.

It's past my bed time. Maybe I am a middle-aged frump after all...

Bicnod · 08/03/2010 07:37

Morning all

WFH - I'm so sorry about your mum's op being delayed, you must be going out of your mind with worry Will be keeping my fingers crossed today that the op goes ahead and that it is successful.

As for Orbit, he is (from what you've said) a happy little chappy, so I wouldn't worry too much about classes etc that you have or haven't done - as Zulu says, that's just window dressing. He is loved and he knows it and that is the main thing. I honestly don't know how second (or third or fourth) children get to do anything except watch their older siblings being whirlwinds. Any future baby Bicnods will just be watching Oscar TV all day.

And I can definitely recommend the NCSS. It doesn't work wonders immediately, but if you stick with it and are ruthlessly consistent (which is really hard on the fourth wake up at 3am when you just want him to go back to sleep any way possible so you can drag the former shell of yourself back to bed) then it does seem to work. Oscar is now sleeping much better. He slept through 3 nights in a row last week and generally now only wakes once or twice at the most and needs minimal intervention to settle. Last night he woke at 11.45pm and just needed a hand on his tummy and shhh shhh to go back to sleep until 6am. This is amazing as he was really a terrible terrible sleeper and always needed picking up and rocking back to sleep if he woke in the night. If you want to talk about what we did a bit more once you've got the book then feel free to facebook me - might help as Orbit and Oscar sound fairly similar in their non sleeping habits.

Oh, and don't worry about the nursery. They'll find a way of getting him to sleep - my friend's little boy NEVER napped during the day (don't know how my friend coped) and the nursery got him to nap. In fact the parents ended up asking the nursery for advice on that and now he naps at home as well. Result. They'll have seen a lot worse sleepers than Orbit. And don't worry about the milk either - as long as they give him snacks (which they will) he'll be fine. Does he take water in a cup? O has dropped his afternoon bottle (just has milk morning and night now) and has mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks (with the occasional slurp of cow's milk from a cup but nothing worth writing home about) instead. I didn't want the childminder to have to mess about with bottles in the afternoon when I wasn't sure he actually really needed it anymore. He didn't even notice when I dropped it and replaced it with a snack - not bothered in the slightest.

What is a floaty status?

Zulu - I've just realised I haven't seen any pics of you yet - are you on FB? Will go and stalk you have a peek. And don't you dare talk middle aged frump - you are the same age as me and I'm a mere spring chick [stern waggy finger emoticon]

Bicnod · 08/03/2010 08:25

WFH - I meant will keep fingers crossed tomorrow - for some reason I thought it was Tuesday today

Schulte · 08/03/2010 09:22

Oh WFH what a saga your poor mum and I can't begin to imagine how worried you must be. I will also keep my fingers crossed for the operation and that everything goes well.

And Orbit will be fine, promised. Although I know what you mean because I too worry about my little Hazel at nursery... she seems so much more babyish than DD1 when she started nursery.

Your work situation sounds a bit like mine really... when I asked them what my role was going to be it turned out they were sort of inventing one for me and it's a very non-essential role - so if they ever want to get rid of someone it will be me. Oh well.

Yay for shiny new cars and phones - we have a new phone too. You could think we've won the lottery or something

dawntigga · 08/03/2010 09:25

Waves to all.

Much unmn hugs to WFH - sorry to hear about your poss redundancy! Keeping fingers crossed for WFH Momma.

As I may now not be going back to work I find myself strangely not so bothered about his sleep.

surprisenumber3 · 08/03/2010 10:11

trying to beat Bicnod.....

surprisenumber3 · 08/03/2010 10:12

did! lol.
Just saw you'd put on FB page that 22nd April is fine but then I realised Kids are back at school then so is 15th ok with everyone?

Bicnod · 08/03/2010 10:12

22nd April for FW meet up ?

Go and post on surprise's FB discussion thread you naughty fanjo warriors...

...how about we meet for picnic in Richmond Park if weather looks reasonable? Or on South Bank in London if we want to be adventurous (could book enormous table of highchairs in Giraffe)? Any other suggestions? I would invite you all round to mine but my flat is the size of a matchbox.

Can't wait to see you all and can't wait to get all our gorgeous April babes together

surprisenumber3 · 08/03/2010 10:16

sorry Bicnod Hope 15th is okay though.
Richmond Park or South Bank are fine.
I will come down on the 14th and stay over. The kids have been begging me to go to London Museums so we can do that on the 14th

ZuluWarrior · 08/03/2010 10:17

Surprise, probably have to out myself as a doctor now. What you have is an entirely normal pulsing aorta. The chances of you having an aneurysm are virtually nil unless you're much older that I think! It might be a bit more palpable because your abd. muscles don't quite meet (again normal for 3 kids ). The overlying twitching I suspect was muscles twitching after the sneezing fit.
However, none of this is a substitute for you getting properly examined so worth mentioning it to your doctor anyway.

No wonder you're scared - googling always comes up with the worst case scenario

HTH xx

Bicnod · 08/03/2010 10:23

15th April works for me

Thanks Surprise - can't wait!

Zulu, you're a doctor? Right, if you could just take a look at...

...only joking

surprisenumber3 · 08/03/2010 10:24

ah thank you so much Zulu, I have been working myself up over nothing I know but I needed reassurance

I'm 33 and had read that mainly older men suffer with them but then read high BP can be a factor. I have never smoked, don't have high cholesterol nor a family history. Never google, I hate googling symptoms..but always do it!

Thanks again x

surprisenumber3 · 08/03/2010 10:26

seems we're not going to Rhythm Time, Evie has gone to sleep and after how off she's been I'm going to leave her to sleep.

Woohoo, can't wait til 15th!
