moose My friend is a teacher and their school has a zero tolerance but still some of the teachers think removing the bullied child is just easier than dealing with the bully. Outrageous! The bullied child just feels more isolated by that sort of action. Ps. Get your butt in a bathing suit girl! lol.

We've been taking DD swimming since she was 8 weeks old. Mainly we started because I would go and sit in the hot tub while DH swam with her, then he'd have a sauna. Its nice now because DD can do a bit more, getting in and out of the pool and walking around in it. There is a little pool slide for the little ones too that DD goes ballistic for now, as she has figured out how it works... I go up with her and get her settled on the slide, run back down and say 'shimmy shimmy shimmy' and she comes down. But she is a daredevil, and started down the slide before I could get to the bottom and out she shot from the tube slide into the water. She went under, popped up and was floating there. I received disapproving looks from the 'professional mothers' (as DH calls them) but the dad's had a laugh. I wasn't worried. She loves the water. Didn't even flinch. She headed right back up the slide after I got her. Hilarious girl. We never did the swimming lessons for infants because I just felt it was a bit of a waste of money. $80 to get your child comfortable with the water, bobbing around. I can do that. All my girls that did the classes wish they never did in hindsight, saying it was a waste of money. I love swimming.
We are starting music classes though this weekend. One of the moms met a lady who teaches at the conservatory but she has a studio in her house and the cost is half the price and we don't have to drive into the city. Its just through the forest for me, a 7 minute walk. I love that. DH takes the car to work so DD and I tend to walk everywhere. Which is good, I suppose, but it rains a lot here in the winter and DD hates the plastic rain cover for her stroller.
I'm feeling a bit rambly today... I could talk forever about all sorts of inane things, so, so not to bore you all, I'll go now. lol

PatTheHammer · 25/03/2010 20:52

Wow Tea..........you are coming right near me on your hols.............it will come as no surprise to others on the thread that i can feel a meet-up on the cards. (you may not know but I make it my mission to meet everyone on the thread in a friendly and not at all stalker fashion you understand!)

there is a lovely little farm near there, called the Butt's farm and loads of cool stuff for kiddies to do, they will love it!

Watching those premmie babies on tuesday's 'one born evvery minute' and reduced to a blubbering wreck

chefswife · 25/03/2010 21:03

Pat, when will I see you on the west coast of Canada

PatTheHammer · 25/03/2010 21:04

MissJ- Hope you are an aunt again now and SIL has not been having to hard a time.

Lenni- missing you too, take care and hope you are getting some rest.

HKZ- Go J with the pulling up!

Moose- sorry about the school situation, sounds like its not being handled very well at all.

Chef- at Violet on the slide and the 'professional mother's'

Tink- lovely newborn on tuesday, I had a nice cuddle and popped to tesco beforehand to buy some socks and a cool shirt.

Busy morning, at committee meeting for playgroup and then Z and I popped to shops, so picked up DD and then it started pissing down. Couldn't be arsed with much this afternoon so after lunch we got out the pop up tent and ball pit, they had a fab time!! really nice to watch some of their games, they are really starting to 'play' together at times (then DD smacks Z over the head or he bites her and all peace is shattered!). Then Z had a long sleep and DD and I watched a DVD and did some stencilling and playdough. quite relaxing!
Bit of a slummy mummy for tea tonight and I decided to do a 'toast picnic' where I gave them some slices of toast with various jams/spreads/cheese/butter and some little plastic knives..................carnage ensued, but they loved it!!!!!!!

Oh, and we have discovered that Z is allergic or something to blueberries, since the last 3 times he has had them he has woken in the night puking them up. Last night was odd, just the blueberries came out, nothing else!!!. Shame, as he loves them, the poor little dude!

chefswife · 25/03/2010 21:06

OMG! DD takes so long to eat. She's been eating her lunch for an hour and she is still munching. Is this normal or do I have a slow eater? I sort of am as well, but usually because I yammer so much at the dinner table.

chefswife · 25/03/2010 21:12

Pat Too bad about the possible blueberry sensitivity... if it was an allergy he would have broken in a rash. Maybe try organic ones, which I know are expensive but just to see how they are. He could be reacting to something used on the blueberries, like a pesticide or something. I don't what I would do if DD was as she loves them too.

missjackson · 25/03/2010 21:54

pat sounds like such a lovely day - can't wait to come to your house .... oh yes, you are coming to mine NEXT WEEK, how f-ing exciting is that?

Still no baby from SIL - was induced yesterday but only went into labour at 5pm this afternoon.... fingers crossed we will wake up to a phone call of news... dying for it to be a girl, and not the tenth boy born in a row to the family otherwise there is no chance ever for the rest of us.

Too bad about the blueberries - N also loves them, although his technique is to cram loads in his mouth, chew a couple of times and then spit out the skins.

Loving your rambling chef, please don't feel the need to apologise. We go to a music class every week, and N absolutely loves it - he is always first up and dancing, just like his daddy .

Dsis here so better go and be sociable before bed...

PatTheHammer · 25/03/2010 22:02

Well. Chef................I do have another friend in Canada who is always on at me for a visit..........so maybe one day

You may be onto something with the blueberries, as since the earthquake in Chile we have only been able to get Sainsburys basics and the organic ones have been out of stock. Thing is, too scared to try them now, even organic or whatever as it was really frightening having him up for a few hours, honking up a great big (unchewed!) berry and a load of mucus every so ofetn

MissJ- yay for next week!!! Oh, and come to ours any old time, although a bit aboput my teeny-tiny garden next to all your land, so better go out someplace nice for a bit of fresh air!
Hope you get a niece then, imagine how spoiled she will be, and how much pink will be bought for her!!!!!!!!

chefswife · 25/03/2010 22:33

missjackson Holy cow! 10 boys in a row! That must be fun at family get togethers!

DD has this funny little dance she's been doing... She gets her socks off and then stands up and giggles as she turns around in circles until she falls down dizzy. She never once lets go of the apple piece.

hackneyzoo · 26/03/2010 09:27

Missj...maybe you'll be the one to break the 10 boy cycle Any news from your SIL?

Pat, very much approve of your toast picnic... I will definitely use that one...makes a change to the standard boiled egg an dsoldiers of the HKZ household. Was in tears at One born Every Minute too... Poor babies and parents.

Chef enjoy the music, both Dcs love music groups, they have local free ones at our library each week, DD is a bit too old for it now but DS gets his bum shuffling groove on (according to DH...I'm alkways at work when its on ) You post has made em really want a sauna now...will have to persuade DH to come swimming with us on Sunday so I can.

Tea, DS has the same floaty swimsuit thing, haven't tried it out yet as a friend passed it on to us the other day, but it looks good. DD is scarily confident in the water, she is nearly 3 so am thinking I should try her out in arm bands or something...hmmm.

Moose, hope the bullying incident gets sorted with DS1, teacher sounded very inefectual. Grrr.

Am at work and something funn yhappens to the browser when I am on MN so can only view this page....so a bit of a rubbish catch up, but hello eveyone!

Lenni, hope its all gooing ok with you. I know you said before, but when do you hear back about your funding? Managed to get my proposal in on Wednesday....now have to start researching...am finding ATHENS very confusing!

Last day of term today, we break up a week early for some unknown reason. Have no lessons and really boring paperwork to do so am ...procrastenating and breaking my no MN at work rule!

Hello! Butt's farm sounds good Pat, I was hoping to take DD to Slimbridge whilst up that way. Probably a 45 min drive from there but better than how long it would take from Watford.

Slightly envious of Chef living in Canada beautiful country, always wanted to go...

chefswife · 26/03/2010 15:12

Tea I love it here too but I miss London terribly and would move back in a snap. Actually, when our big lotto win comes in, we are going to build a house on the ocean up island a bit and a flat in London... that would be bliss!

hackneyzoo · 26/03/2010 19:05

Chef how about a house swap a few times a year...it would be cheaper This time 2 years ago I was living on a tiny island in the south china sea...I am missing island life big time at the moment.
But seriously...if you want a london holiday we are away the last week in July and the whole of august so you are welcome to our house...if you don't mind roughing it in hackney!

So its the easter holidays, I am soooo knackered, had one glass of wine with colleagues about 6 hours ago and it has wiped me out for the afternoon....

Am at J in a big way, he has gone from not showing any interest in standing and walking to standing all the time in the space of about 4 days...I thought I was going to be safe for a while yet..

OP posts:
PatTheHammer · 26/03/2010 20:51

Errrrr, very at you HZ for starting your easter hols .......you cowbag!!!

Yay for J!!!

Tea- yes Slimbridge is about 45 mins from there (and you need to go past my house). there is loads of cool stuff to do with the DC's in the area, hope you ahve good weather.

Had to pick up DS from nursery at lunchtime today as he was poorly and had a temp. He has been very cuddly and sleepy this afternoon but gone to bed ok, dosed with calpol. Didn't want much dinner either, which is a sure sign something is wrong so expecting a good night!

Also, so glad I never bought that bookcase for DD the other week as I found an ad in the local paper tonight for a brand new one taht someone was selling for half the price. DH went round there tonight and picked it up, yay!!!

missjackson · 26/03/2010 21:13

Hi everyone....

SIL had a girl! Amazing. 8lbs 15 too, eye-watering. That family won't know what to do with a girl. Brilliant news. And has made me ridiculously broody. OK, that's it, we are now officially TTC!

Yey for Easter holds hkz!

Poor Z pat, cuddly and sleepy sounds sweet though. Hope he sleeps well.

Lovely day but tired. Visited grandfather in hospital. He is doing as well as an 86 year old can! Sister and brother here, all had dinner at my Mum's which was fun and loud.

Happy friday night everyone!

missjackson · 26/03/2010 21:14

easter hols

Where is gumps?

teaandcakeplease · 27/03/2010 08:12

Miss J - 8lbs 15, that's a nice weight hope your SIL is ok. I don't do small babies as I joke with friends, seem to give birth to big ones too. Very excited about the TTC comment!

Well Pat it does sound like a visit maybe on the cars doesn't it? How's you DS now?

My DD has a nasty cold now, so was a broken night of sleep for me last night sitting here with a big mug of coffee...

This thread has some very well traveled people on it with HKZ and and chef! I've never been anywhere particularly interesting myself as yet. Need to find myself a rich man if my hubby does leave me for the OW...

morning all. have banished everyone to kitchen so I can have a 5 min catch up! MJ, that's fab news! Am jealous (sort of) of the TTC news too. Need a bigger place first and don't want to move out of London! Hmm.

Morning Tea. I've got a nice hot cup of tea here and am considering what to do with my weekend. Heavy showers today. Lovely.

I have finally got round to listing that wool I didn't like on ebay and it's got a bidding war going on it!

120 · 27/03/2010 08:34

Oh, and my 'the child in time' has just arrived frome ebay. looks good!

books you poor thing. The same sort of thing can go on in our house where we both jossle for a baby-free 5 mins. I think that says more about our sort of age gap than anything else, quite frankly, and this is 14 months on!!

120 · 27/03/2010 09:35

have just sent all of my lot out to get omelette, chips and coffee from the greasy spoon! nice and quiet here.
