Morning
Tea, I have been a size 16 for years and only dropped a size really after horrible gallbladder problems last summer. Having to watch it at the moment though, as with all this poorliness I have been a lot less active as well as comfort eating and my weight is starting to creep back up again. Glad ds is eating again. Am getting dangerously tempted to make up a batch of 120s brownies though.
We have been heavy on the Milton hand cleaning gel recently as its the only one that kills viruses as well as bacteria. Not that its helped much, we are still plagued. Harumph!
HKZ, that dress is gorgeous. Would be too high in the neckline for me though, anything other than a large scoop or vneck and I start to look decidedly matronly.
Meeting at school was surprisingly positive and dh and I have come away feeling like something might actually change for the better for ds now.
Both his supply teacher and his actual class teacher attended and just before the end his maths teacher popped in to say that he is doing really well and she doesn't have any concerns about his abilities. She also said he is really sweet and she likes him a lot, which was lovely.
He's been given an IEP with some realistic targets for things like handwriting and starting his work quicker (ie improving concentration) but also some things that no-one expects him to necessarily be able to improve/overcome but are there just to make sure that all staff who have contact with him are aware of his difficulties.
They are going to arrange for him to have one of the dinner ladies that he likes as a sort of mentor/buddy, so that if he gets stressed or upset or is bullied etc he can go to her and she will help him deal with the situation or pass him on to his teacher for help.
The SENCO is going to speak to the Head about reinstating the quiet area of the playground (which has been inaccessible due to building work for most of this year) as apparently this has been an issue for a number of children on the register. Then ds will be able to choose to sit and read quietly at playtime if he wants to.
He is being given a visual organisation chart for remembering what he needs when, and they are going to do a version for the class as a whole as well, as apparently he is one of several children who are struggling with organising themselves.
We also discussed setting up a system a bit like the mood diary thing you suggested HKZ. Basically a system that employs a scale based on emoticon type pictures that he uses to talk about events during the day. They have used this successfully with another little boy who had similar difficulties to ds and apparently by year 6, after using it for 3 years, he no longer needed it as he was able to talk about his feelings more effectively.
His supply teacher is handing back to his class teacher in the week before the end of term, but she is staying on in the school to teach a year 6 class and has said she is happy to mentor him. In fact she has already told him that he can come to her, any time about anything at all and she will help him.
So all good stuff. There is more, but I've already gone on and on so I won't bore you with all the nitty gritty.
All 3 dc's are currently drawing quietly on their magnadoodles. The boys are sat at either end of the sofa and dd is standing up with hers on the sofa between her brothers. Soooo sweet!
Both boys slept through for the first night in weeks last night and seem a lot better for it today. Dd still managed to wake me at least a hundred times though. I think ds2 will be back to school tomorrow and ds1 is desperate to go back on Thursday as its his dress rehearsal for the school play in the afternoon.
Right, another humungous Moose post. Best be off and do some housework now (breakfast dishes still not washed up as yet).
