oops, didn't notice the thread was getting too big!

PMSL at the Burn's night smilies; I thought they were wearing earphones.

not sure I agree with them; as a proud Scot, I hate all that fucking tacky tartan crap that we get labelled with, tartan tammies and fake ginger hair more than most

Well in that case then Happy Birthday to Little Master Norty!!

No insurance, I stopped it years ago when they hoiked the premium up three-fold because she was classed as a "senior cat" at age 7. She is now 15, so I can't complain, she's only had a few injections, some sedatives for travelling when we moved house, some flea treatments, and a couple of blood tests in the 14 years we've had her. I'm not even sure that much we've had would have been covered by the insurance!

A couple of accidents at nursery today One wee and one poo. But I guess it's too much to expect 100% sucess every day.

LackaDAISYcal · 02/02/2010 21:25

Hellooooooo and Happy Birthday to Sputnik and to Norty's DS

thanks for all the Happy Birthdays but sorry I wasn't on to receive them yesterday. Been a horrible weekend with bumble still very poorly and I have been asleep by 7pm as up half the nights with him since the middle of last week. Managed a night out to the pictures to see Avatar in 3D at the IMAX...fabulous!!...and we had a takeaway as bumble too poorly to go out. He's turned a corner now though and seems to be on the mend. Horrible virus (according to doc) on top of his MMR jab side effects (which doc poo pood entirely ).

Sorry to hear about your cat jammy....mine is about 14ish (not sure as she was a stray) and I am dreading anything happening to her.

Oh, and I am Mummy Pig ...

...and DS1 kindly informed me that he saw an advert on the Discovery Channel and there is a clinic in London where you can get your fat removed and it would be good cos I could go there and I wouldn't have to diet . Ach he means well

love your DS1 daisy - haven't seen that as myself, maybe I should! Glad all is getting better for you, and that you had a good birthday.

yay for jamlet, but for your cat. What are the symptoms of kidney failure? Obe is getting on for 11 or so now. He is mental though... there is a 5 month old cat needing a new home, her pic is in our opticians window. I am SO tempted.

happy birthday little Norty-ness. hope he's had a great day

baggins in pants (or more to the point out of nappies) from just after 9am until his none-nap at around 2pm. Just wet nappy though. We went off to the shops after the school run, so he did good

Ohforfoxsake · 03/02/2010 08:57

Sorry to hear about your cat Jammy.

Daisy, I love DS1s logic. If only....

Sputnik, I'm not really potty training. I can't abide potties, so encouraging DD2 to use the toilet. She does so at nursery no problem. She's in pull-ups, she totally gets what she's meant to do, but I don't think she feels confident about it so she is resisting pants. We have the sticker chart (thanks Jammy!). I don't suppose she'll still be in nappes at 15, so I'm not in a hurry.

Sputnik · 03/02/2010 09:40

TG I am not the only one!
I am planning on going straight to toilet too if poss, and waiting til it's warmer I think.

Daisy, hope you got a decent night.

CharlottesClan · 03/02/2010 10:05

we've done a week of potty and now we are using the toilet. i cant abide pottys either, nasty things

DH birthday and our anniversary this week. so ive been busy being a servant to dhs many needs

three years married today. where does the time go? feels like yesterday i was dragging him down the isle with a baby bump

Riapwhatyousow · 03/02/2010 13:44

happy anniversary natty

no PT here today. I've been out leaving DH in charge

twunt. on many counts, not just the potty. He has gone for a lie down (again), because he can't find any of the documents we need in his "filing system". And he wonders why I suggest he gets it sorted. But I'll be stuffed if I'm taking over that as well as everything else, it's his one household job.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 03/02/2010 20:19

Happy Anniversary CC!

Went to visit a friend this afternoon. Her DS was a right handful! But Jamlet enjoyed being there and said yes she would like him to come and play at our house And she asked for and used the potty 3 times this afternoon

CharlottesClan · 04/02/2010 11:10

lol ria, u made me laugh with 'twunt'

yay for jamlet. we havent had an accident since saturday! hurrah! cracked it i think. we must all have the right month i think lol.

dh surgery been put back again. which means i now have no childcare.. because its been scheduled for HALF TERM! (twunty hospital)

Riapwhatyousow · 04/02/2010 11:41

natty.

I am trying not to a) strangle DH, and b) burst into tears. Must have PMT He is driving me mad, he is so lazy ATM. Hope he burns his arse in the bath!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 04/02/2010 11:59

Mum says they had a tin bath when she was little. And if you put the hot in first you did burn your arse!

TALLULAHBELLE · 04/02/2010 20:46

horrible night here again....@I fell aslepp on the sofa at 7 and woke up at 9.30. Wemt to bed at 10.30 and couldn't sleep, so got up at midnight and that was me up till 3.30. Went back to bed and finally drifted off sometime after 4.30. I have no idea how I'm actually functioning today!

OP posts:
Riapwhatyousow · 04/02/2010 21:45

gah for no sleep. I had a nap this afternoon, but baggins slept too long and is still going strong now.

TALLULAHBELLE · 05/02/2010 20:17

Sleep???? Now what's that again? I think I remember it but it's been so long. [yawns and drops off mid-sent...]

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 05/02/2010 21:27

Sorry I missed you Tallulah, and I guess everyone else is off catching up on sleep?

Feline diabetes confirmed today Had a long chat with the vet today and she'd given me some info to read. Now got to decide whether to go ahead with the insulin treatment (no other options ) or to have her put down (possibly not straight away but before she is suffering). Such a hard choice. It'll be a big commitment to go ahead with twice daily injections, not nice for me or her, it will make going away so much more difficult, plus there is the cost (estimated at about £200 over the first month then £50 per month after that) to consider. But it seems heartless not to do it. I'm really torn

TALLULAHBELLE · 05/02/2010 21:37

Hi Jammy. What a shame - tis a difficult one. It's obviously not a simple treatment & will put her through daily distress & you too.Did the vet say she would have good quality of life with the treatment or is it really just keeping her going? Sometimes you have to let go.

Riapwhatyousow · 05/02/2010 23:01

jammy. No advice from me I'm afraid. My Dad had to choose to have his sheepdog put down, and then my Mum the cat - they went with the "kinder" option (having spent an age coaxing both to eat 24/7 etc), but they were incredibly cut up about it. So much so that Mum won't have another cat. Agree with Tbelle though about whatever the vet said. Take care.

Hi Tbelle.

LackaDAISYcal · 06/02/2010 08:57

jammy; it's a horrible decision to have to make but sometimes the euthanasia option is best all round, especially if twice daily injections is going to cause her lots of distress. It's awful when pets get so sick though. What is the vet advising? and with the insulin, will her quality of life be back to normal or will she still be poorly?

no internet yesterday.....I was like a caged beast, especially as I actually had the time to spend on the pooter for once!

.....loving this little chap

DH not well...he has a chest infection which won't shift and has had an allergic reaction to a fourth type of AB, so is trying to fight it with steroids and inhalers....he had to stop in at the docs yesterday and use the nebuliser as he couldn't breathe . I want him to go to A&E, but typical of him, he is "fine" and would rather do that martyred silent suffering thing. I am really worried about it, but he thinks it'll go by itself.....one month and counting though.

OP posts:
LittleMissNorty · 06/02/2010 09:17

a month . He needs to get that sorted!

so about your cat Jammy....I would be so cut up about that. For me it would depend on quality of life I think, but £50 is a lot of money on an ongoing basis. Cats seem to tolerate injections very well IME - mine does't make a fuss at all. I'm dreading the day I have to make a decision like that

Typed out a huge long rant last night and PC ate it up.....probably just as well as you don't want to hear how fucking pissed off I am re DSs birthday party. Bit like when he was born and no-one visited for 3 weeks. No-one can make it and its just my two and a couple of his cousins .

Riapwhatyousow · 06/02/2010 11:38

and norty, but it'll still be lovely, 'cos there'll be DS and DD and you and your DH, and cousins. Perfect. Screw the rest of them, it's them missing out.

  • always . Only thing is might be a bit redundant

I was a bit ranty yesterday too. Am a bit narky with DH, as am sick of being skint, him being P/T hasn't improved his shoulder problems, and he is putting too much into a job that has no long-term prospects (serves me right for watching Gareth Bloody Blackstock doesn't it!). Haven't got the documents I need from the jobcentre to send off for my couse and the deadline is Tuesday, and I have a job application filled in ready to take to the recruitment day later on. But I am and and and all at the same time. Dratted TOTM. Oops, and I thought I'd done so well not to rant yesterday

LackaDAISYcal · 06/02/2010 12:14

Oooooh, I can do ranting....ignore if need be!!

DH is off to the tip and then doing the weekly shop, whilst manfully not breathing well and going "No, I'm fine, honest" "we need to get on!" He has also tipped the contents of the laundry basket onto the bed in a bid to get me to put it all away, when of course he should know me well enough by now to know that all that succeeds in doing is winding me up and making me more determined to not put it away...which I can't anyway as the kids wardrobe is full to bursting and needs extra shelving fitted in which he says he can't do until he can get in to tidy the garage so he has some working space.........AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

And all this on top of him being ill and grumpy (and brushing me aside when I say how worried I am about him) and deciding we MUST clear the house, now, this very minute when he's been happy to ignore it up to press......

fucking cunting arsing twunt. Be ill you fecking moron or you will NEVER get better!!!

...and breathe

OP posts:
JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 06/02/2010 13:09

Sorry everyone is feeling so ranty

What a lot of etc Ria

Still don't know what to do about the cat. I have lots of reasons why we shouldn't treat her but I'm scared they are all just selfish ones But the vet said we don't have to rush the decision - in fact she said we shouldn't, so time to read more before we decide. Seems she could have quite a good life once the treatment is sorted though, but of course we have no idea how long that life might be.
