oops, didn't notice the thread was getting too big!

PMSL at the Burn's night smilies; I thought they were wearing earphones.

not sure I agree with them; as a proud Scot, I hate all that fucking tacky tartan crap that we get labelled with, tartan tammies and fake ginger hair more than most

Jammy, when DD1 took issue with bathing. I got in with her a few times. Sorted it out very quickly.

Sounds like you are persevering with PT. Well done. Its worth it, and nursery will reinforce it - they can take the load and at least do some of the job for you.

I'm going to plan for Sunday and Monday to crack it, then she's at nursery Tuesday morning, where she goes to the loo anyway . I think she's playing me along ...

Ohforfoxsake · 26/01/2010 22:55

Hi Ria,

my PC is running slow so not letting me do a link but I will.

I've been on the PC all night doing 'additional information' for the invites and now my eyes are all blurry.

LackaDAISYcal · 27/01/2010 00:09

shameless mother alert here . DD's skin breaks out whenever we bathe her, so other than getting her nether regions washed (or more often baby-wiped) regularly, she is seldom bathed and then only in water with a teeny bit of mild bath milk in and her hair never sees shampoo, just gets rinsed in the water....and everyone comments on her lovely hair condition! Makes me feel a bit shameful!

I actually gave her a shower yesterday morning as I realised the stamp that they get on their hands and feet at the end of gym minis was still visible on the top of her feet she maybe gets a bath or shower every ten days or so!

foxy hats off to you doing all the wedding stuff. I did all mine as well as organise a house move 250 miles away and look for a new job and it was exhausting. Worth it though!

oh I'm looking forward to seeing shoes as well

Weekend away sounds fab Daisy.....I booked a cottage in Devon last night and we are taking my mum as well - she's been so good to us recently and is also handy for a spot of baby-sitting . Only thing is, is that we need to hire a 7 seater for a week at a cost of £350 . So together with feul, cottage, food, and kennels for dog and cat, pretty expensive holiday.

CharlottesClan · 27/01/2010 09:02

yes i want to see them too

holiday sounds fun, even if expensive, im sure you will enjoy it norty

daisy, charlie doesnt get a bath very often either. thomas and ellen get one twice a week, on a sunday for school, and on a wednesday because we go to my friends house who baths every night.
my kids have sensitive skin too, to many baths def makes it worse. i dont shampoo ellens hair unless there is something in it (usually sticky )

everyone comments on how clean and shiney ellens hair always is
funny isnt it!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 27/01/2010 11:18

We normally give Jamlet a bath every other day (or sometimes every 3 days) but at the moment she's getting a full strip wash every other day and quick hairwash once a week. We don't have a shower and she hates them anyway (possibly because we don't have one? ). I suggested she has a bath with me and she screamed and screamed. but I might suggest it again in a few more days time - back then she went into meltdown at the mere mention of "the B word" but she might be a little more receptive to suggestions now?

Having an early lunch here, got to be on a teleconference to a meeting in Sweden from 11.30 to 1.30 and not sure if I can wait that long to eat !

Oh and jamlet wet herself int he car this morning and despite thick blanket under her the seat got wet . Thankfully we don't need to use it for the next few days. It was very annoying though as I knew she needed to go (night nappy wasn't very wet, plus she was quite "jiffly") but would she do a wee before we left the house? Would she heck!

Well done on the wedding organising Foxy - I take my hat off to you for doing it on top of house stuff and looking after all the family and normal stuff! And yes, shoes please!!!

thistimeIknowitstheRiathing · 27/01/2010 13:51

baggins has a bath at least once a day, he loves it. DS2 the same, and I make DS1 shower every morning and bath/shower before bed - I think he'll get cleaner than way than if he just gets a wash. It is probably habit because all DH ever seems to do is have a bath

odd things happening with the internet here, we are in the middle of changing suppliers, so that is maybe why. Our BT vision isn't working yet either

CharlottesClan · 27/01/2010 14:53

oh dear jammy! ellen did that to me at the bus stop today.. left a nice puddle on the pavement
can you take the cover off it and wash it? we dont drive so have no experience of carseats!

Sputnik · 27/01/2010 17:28

Wow I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't wash DC's hair very often. TBH it really doesn't seem to make much difference with DS, unless he has rubbed food into it, at which point I do wash it.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 27/01/2010 19:17

Well other than the phone call to Sweden going well I've had a shit day! Wish I had gone on the trip to Sweden now. I could have woken up in a nice hotel this morning, had a day at the meeting and now been tucking into rudolph steaks sumptuous dinner at one of my Swedish colleague's house . Instead I suffered another evil Weds morning with Jamlet playing up at every turn, and this afternoon had her playing up big time with not wanting to use the potty (again despite it being obvious she needed to) and then getting really cross when I said she couldn't climb on the sofa with no anppy when I knew she needed a wee. She climbed up and got taken off about 8 times (I offered her the choice of putting a nappy on so she could lie on the sofa and she screamed at me) and then she sat on my lap (on the floor) and weed all over me . I wasn't impressed and got rather cross . It didn't help that I had been cold to start with and was then freezing, but I was so at her wanting to be a big girl but not being prepared to do as I asked. That was the 4th accident today, and then after getting cleaned up and cuddles and apologies and having tea she said she wanted to go to bed and promptly weed on the floor again . I guess there wasn't much hope of success of she was so tired, but I'm just so fed up. Half of me wants to give up on the whole thing, but half of me wants to persevere. I really don't know what to do.

Sorry that was so long. (And that's the short version!)

TALLULAHBELLE · 27/01/2010 19:58

Oh what a shame Jammy, but when i started with DD it was one step forward, 2 steps back. If you really can't face it give yourself a break tomorrow & put her in nappies & just don't mention it at all. Start afresh in a few days. Maybe up the ante on the rewards too. Something she wouldn't normally get. As well as stickers we had phases of choc buttons, finger crisps (hula hoops), choc raisins & marshmallows. A friend recommended 'poo biscuits' when she seemed to be withholding so I bought a load of jaffa cakes. Still got the bloody things, she didn't like them & neither do I.

LackaDAISYcal · 28/01/2010 05:50

goooood morning June 07

I have been up since 2.30 with bumble. His cough is horrible and he has a raging temp and sounds very rattly and will only sleep lying spreadeagled on top of me. If this is just a reaction to the measles bit if the mmr, I'd hate to see full blown measles.

Thankfully I fell asleep on the sofa at 7.30 last night and went straight to bed when dh finally managedto wake me up at 10ish, so I had a full night's sleep before getting up. I'll be on my knees by teatime though!

sorry things are tough with the PTing jammy. It can be hard, especially at this determined age. I agree with T to maybe give it a rest till perhaps the weekend when you can be more relaxed about it and aren't rushing aroung getting out to work etc. We make DD go to the toilet first thing in the morning whether she says she needs or not. Shge is now in the habit of it. Anbother thing we found useful was plonking her on the loo rather than the potty as she couldn't get down without help so was stuck there till she performed!

DD is driving me nuts as well with the obsessive routines like switching the tv back on and then off again if anyone else does the switching off redoing her buttons or socks etc if I do it etc. tis all part of being a toddler, but it's sooooo frustrating, especially when in a hurry.

Shehas also got worse with PTing....and had three wet pants and one pooey pants yesterday . Just down to laziness and not telling me she needed. Last one we were out at the shops and were going straight to a course I'm doing so I had to buy a pack of pants and a new pair of trousers in Mothercare....snd typicxally therewas nothing in her size in the sale...either girls or boys!

norty could you not take two cars and then just use yours for bodding about when you get there? We can get an adult in the middle between the car seats in my scenic. OK for short journeys but not for a long drive.

oh dear daisy. hope he feels better soon and you manage to keep going.

DH and I are both a bit off-colour, but because I asked him to get up and see to the kids this morning because I'd been up in the night to be sick, he is now getting a lie down. I am shattered and not sure if I'm going to be sick again (when I woke in the night I was having a panic attack, so I don't know if that's why I was sick, or the panic attack was cos my body knew I was going to be). Why he can't just take one shift off as sick leave I will never understand.

friends partner came round this morning (she was teaching here and needed the loo!), hope it was helpful for her to sound off a little, as it sounds like all their other mutual friends are keeping a distance. they had bumped into each other this morning. She is maybe coming for lunch on Monday. I might as well give up all pretence of tidyness now we've been seen at our worst (and even worse, in my PJs)

hope your cat is OK jammy

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 28/01/2010 12:59

I'm a bit late for good morning Daisy, but hi! Hope you're not suffering too much from your early start?

Been a better day today, so far. We had to take our cat to the vet for some blood tests early on, so I put her into a nappy when she got dressed and she kept that on until about 11. At about 11.45 she started with the jiggling and I said to sit on the potty. She wouldn't so I said it was potty or naughty step! So she kept sitting and a minute later - weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!! Lots of praise, we rang Daddy and told him, she had some chocolate with her lunch, smiles all round. She's asleep now (with a nappy) but I have said she can wear pants again this afternoon. No work now until Monday so much more relaxed, which I think helps.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 28/01/2010 20:46

Well it seems that I'm here on my own but I'm going to woohoo anyway! Today we have had one wee in the nappy while at the vet, one poo in the nappy while asleep, 3 wees on the potty at my suggestion and 1 all of her own accord And NO puddles on the floor AND she had her wash really really well and only complained a little when I washed her hair and didn't start screaming when I suggested she might sit down to play, just protested quietly and carried on playing standing up So a really really good day.

And our new Miele freezer has arrived ( but at the price) so I now have a 6ft x 8ft sheet of cardboard to store away for a really good piece of messy painting one day when the weather is nice enough to paint outdoors. Of and a lovely new freezer of course!

CharlottesClan · 28/01/2010 21:41

woohhooo jammy!!

GO JAMLET!!

thistimeIknowitstheRiathing · 28/01/2010 23:27

yay jammy

thistimeIknowitstheRiathing · 29/01/2010 13:43

it's snowing again.

LackaDAISYcal · 29/01/2010 14:29

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG.....my friend just brought me a box of gluten free chocolate brownies from HERE for my birthday(with orders NOT to share). I have just eaten two of them (well they are small ) and am in heaven...I may even have to say they were better than sex . There are 10 more and I should savour them, but I want to eat the whole box. It's been over five years since I had a decent brownie, I stopped buying supermarket GF cakes as they are shit! I want MOOOOOOORRRRRREEEEEE!!!!

Go jamlet

I made a sticker chart for DD jammy...with a row for going to the potty for a wee, one for a poo, and a few more for asking to go by herself etc....and got some lovely big metallic smiley face stickers. She was so enthusiastic we run out of space after the first week!

Took bumble to the docs....he has an inhaler and some antibiotics should he get worse over the weekend. Temp still high, but he is a bot more himself today, but he is still very sleepy, bless him. She reckons he has got one or two different viral things going on, on top of the reaction to his MMR, but has given the ABs for his nose which has been producing the most delightful rainbow coloured snot for over a month now and she thinks it might be his sinuses. Poor scone

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 29/01/2010 18:26

I downloaded the Hello Kitty chart from here (after offering DD her choie of charts) and we are writing in Ws and Ps appropriately, with a star if SHE asked for the potty rather than being prompted. At the end of each morning and afternoon Ps and Ws = chocolates! A repeat of yesterday, so pretty good

TALLULAHBELLE · 29/01/2010 19:31

Great progress Jammy & Jamlet

Poor Bumble.

DCs got their sf jags this morn. Neither up nor down since though nurse said to expect sore arm/legs. Hope I've done the right thing.

Am desperately trying to de-clutter in preparation for the big move. Getting nowhere fast. Have turned to the Fly Lady thread for help & inspiration. It's useful but I'm more about clearing a whole lot of crap from my cupboard than shiny sinks & lace up shoes.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 29/01/2010 22:42

Hope your DCs are OK T, and that Bumble perks up soon Daisy.

Had a short counselling session as there was an accident a little bit ahead of me on the way there so ended up 20 mins late. Annoyingly this was the night when there were plenty of things I wanted to discuss. But never mind, there's always next week. Though we are meant to be discussing what I think about my appearance then

thistimeIknowitstheRiathing · 29/01/2010 23:10

decluttering is mega difficult IMO. Hope the SF doesn't have an effect. Are you off to Oz?

yay jamlet. shame about your evening jammy.

woohoo for brownies daisy

I have eaten too many crisps

PFB DS1 is going to town with a friend on his own at the weekend. Any ideas how much cash he should take? Am very nervy about it, but have read too many threads about the MN curse that is being a "helicopter"...

LittleMissNorty · 30/01/2010 09:41

No idea Ria - sorry. Has he got a mobile?

Hope DCs are ok T - I read the latest DOH bulletin yesterday and I'm def getting SF jabs on my two - and me (I get mine through work)

Arse about counselling Jammy. Are you on a fixed number of sessions.

Hope Bumble is OK Daisy....saw your FB status

DH running solo today as I'm off to London teaching

So T, are you moving to Oz permanently?

thistimeIknowitstheRiathing · 30/01/2010 12:35

cold... snow...

don't want to be stuck in the house with the boys today Baggins is being really naughty ATM. been for a long walk in the snow already.

DS1 sulking cos I've said I'm not letting him go tomorrow if the weather is bad (but it'll solve my dilemma it's going to cost me a fortune letting him go, what with topping his phone up and lunch etc)

how long til bedtime?

hope bumble is OK daisy.
