Ok so a pretty boring thread title but thought we needed some distance from the last one!

BB4 - glad your mother's day was good - breakfast and presents sound lovely. Good luck with your work interview - your supervisor sounds very supportive - when will it be? Glad the specialist's appointment went ok - at least you know what it is now and an annual test isn't so bad. It's never nice knowing there's something wrong but I know exactly what you mean about seeing other sick children in the hospitals and counting your blessings - I'm always so grateful when I've been in waiting rooms that Anya is doing as well as she is.

Inzi - good that your dad has settled down a bit although hope that you get an action plan from the hospital soon. At least he's resting, which must be doing him some good. Glad that Jane is much better after her antibiotics. Very good news about George too. I hope you've been able to take some time out for yourself and relax a bit - I think you're coping amazingly well with everything that's been thrown at you recently. (Fantastic thread btw )

NC - how did your interview go? pmsl at falling off the toilet onto the sink - hope your shiner has gone down. How's Shannon now?

FT - I remember that stage of Anya not being tired enough for a nap during the day but then being awful by teatime. I'm pretty sure it didn't last long though - hopefully Alex will pass through it soon.

Alice - glad that your sil is doing well, at least she's getting all the help she needs. Am so glad as well that you've been able to talk to your friends - it does sound as though everything you've done has been appreciated even if you didn't feel at the time that you were doing much.

Choc - hope the ab's work this time and that you're feeling better soon.

Strawberry - congrats! That's fantastic news - wow twins!

Dal - Miles sounds like a wonderful baby - I'm so thrilled that you sound so happy.

Anya and I had a wonderful holiday - felt longer than 3 days as we did quite a lot. I'm a bit sore today as we went to the Heights of Abraham yesterday on the way home (LLL - you weren't kidding about it being steep ) - it's got cable cars up to a large hill where there is a playground, cafe and a couple of caverns - we went in one - but to walk round you have to go up/down very steep slopes and lots of steps. We also did a children's museum and a couple of National Trust gardens - Anya's thrilled if she just gets a big open space to kick a football around. And of course we met up with LLL and Ben - he is so delightful and charming, and LLL looks amazing! I've only realised while we've been away just how loud Anya has become - she's definitely more confident since she started nursery.

Anyway, have a good weekend everybody x

Just skimmed but couldn't go without saying the most massive congratulations to strawberry!!!!! OMG! really chuffed for you

Doing work for appraisal so will try and catch up with the rest of you soon x

OP posts:
babyblue4 · 16/05/2010 01:05

Sorry... not much time to post. But cant lurk without saying a massive congratulations to Strawberry!!! How exciting to have Twins!! Enjoy the peace and get your rest while you can!! My first 2 DCs are 16 months apart, and that waas a lot of work... so I can imagine twins will be a challenge fun!!

Starting to feel poorly right now... which is not good. I have my marathon in the morning. Both Marco and Sofias have a cough and a cold with a temp... so it looks like I am headed down that road as well. I am hoping to go to bed early, so that I can do my best tomorrow. I have to be up at 5am, out the door at 5:30am and the race starts at 7:30am. Parking near the start line is going to be a nightmare, so we have to get there early. Its supposed to be 19 degrees, but today was really chilly and windy, and it was supposed to be nice as well. The dilemma is what to wear!

Anyway... will catch up better next week, but will try to post tomorrow to brag post my results!!

FloriaTosca · 16/05/2010 14:17

OMG!!!!! Strawberry! What fantastic news. I'm thrilled to bits for you. I'm sure that you will get lots of help, there are loads of muliple birth support groups round here so I'm sure there will be some near you too. Congratulations!

Good luck BB4 I hope the cold holds off.

Get well soon inzi and choc NC glad the interview went well, fingers crossed for positive result from it for you.

Alice;good luck with the appraisal.

WWAJC glad you had a lovely mini holiday and meet up with LLL. I think you may have just put me off finding a nursery for Alex..the last thing he needs is to get any louder but I'm glad it is building up Anyas confidence.

Alex has just dropped off for a nap (yay! 1st in 4 days)no wonder after a night when he had us up 4 times suffering from some sort of nightmare (manically screaming "take it off!" and kicking away his duvet then demanding his duvet back only to do the same again and again and again...very wearing all round. time to get some gardening done...have a lovely sunday afternoon everyone.

LisaLessLumpy · 16/05/2010 21:45

WOW Strawberrylace Fabulous news, many congratulations and good luck

I'll catch up tomorrow, off to bed shortly after a very good and alcoholic night in London yesterday.

Saw Gok Wan and David James (england Goalie) I got very excited but was too tired and pissed to go and get a photo with David James, unlike my friend

Hope you al had good weekends x

strawberrylace · 16/05/2010 22:25

thanks everyone for your lovely messages, it's much appreciated. still doesn't feel real though....

Dalrymps · 19/05/2010 09:11

Where did everyone go

Just popping in to say hi, Miles has a cough today, poor little mite

Inzi - How's everything?

NC - Heard anything from the job interview yet?

Strawberry - Has the news sunk in yet?

BB4 - Recovered from the marathon yet? I think you should rename yourself supermum, I feel tired just reading all you do!

LLL - Recovered from your drinking sesh?

Floria - Hope Alex's nightmares have calmed down now.

WWAJC - Sounds like you had a lovely time away. that you met LLL.

Choc - How you feeling now? Any better?

Alicet - Hi! Great to hear from you. Glad you finally got to see your friend and that sil is in good hands.

Oh, he's crying, back later x

Hi ladies

I've been around but struggle to get this page to load as it is quite large so have been avoiding it.

Inzi-I pmsl @ the image of your DH army crawling Sorry you're dad is bad, but as you say, at least he is home with family. How's your Mum doing?

Do you live near a large energy plant? Rich is travelling to near Edinburugh tomorrow for a job interview on Fri. Would have loved to have gone with him if I didn't have the stupid assignmnets to finish. Would have been cheaper for the four of us to go on the train than just him using my friends and family rail card.

Dal-Sorry Miles is poorly Shannon is still snotty and whiny, she's drtiving me mad, wish these bloody teeth would hurry up and come thjrough.

LLL- of your night in London!

FT-How are Alexs' naps lately? Shannon hasn't had daytime naps for ages, not sure how long exactly, nursery always try to get her to have one but say she usually lays there singing till they let her out.

BB-How did the run go?

WWaJC-Holiday sounds lovely Anya may become a player for the English football team! How are you doing re you and DH? You managing okay?

Strawberry-Has it sunk in yet? I bet it wont sink in until they arrive! even then you'll think it's all a dream lol

Choc-You feeling any better? Didn't realis you where in Scotland, dunno where I thought you was though. Have you and Inzi met up then? This interview that Rich goes for, if he is offered it, well, he wants me to move with him,but I'm not sure...never even been to Scotland! Will see what happens.

Alice-How's your sil doing this week?

Am on the way to finishing assignmnets, I know I keep moaning, but my family are so s41t with regards to helping me out. It'd be different if they needed me to do something.

Anyway, Shannon has been doing extra time at nursery, but I'm really starting to not like it, it's just so unstructured and, well, scruffy. Kind of like church hall type nursery, whereas her other one at the college is all clean, bright and airy..am going to have to have a rethink about the nursery in September, just wish I could find one that is as flexible.

Not heard anything from the interview, I'm not that bothered really, not the type of company I want to work for if they can't even be bothered to let me know. Especially when there were only 4 interviewees, oh and my black eye has only just gone down, maybe that's why I didn't get it, they didn't buy my 'toddler did it' story.

FloriaTosca · 21/05/2010 08:04

aaarrgghh...I posted last night, honest! where'd it go?...bet it is blooming wifi...can't spend a long time on now as a pal from the >40s thread is coming round to take the los to runamok...I'll be back later to repeat myself. xxx

WhiteWineAndJaffaCakes · 22/05/2010 11:19

Dal/Inzi - hope everyone's cough is better.

Inzi - hope your dad's heart op is sorted soon. Glad he's home and you're feeling a bit better about things. at your strange encounter - I can just picture your dh creeping through the undergrowth to eavesdrop. He must have very loud knees!

NC - h and I are coping ok I think - we sometimes have minor arguments over trivial things, but we can both walk away now so they don't escalate. He's been doing some gardening here while I was away and this week while I'm at work. On the one hand I'm happy not to have to do it myself but on the other hand it feels a bit stalker-ish knowing he's been here on his own .
Shame you didn't manage to get up to Edinburgh - hope you got your assignments done. Does Shannon like the 'scruffy' nursery? Anya's is very unimpressive to look at - not remotely bright and airy - but the atmosphere and staff are fantastic and Anya loves it. Shame you've not heard back from your interview - maybe the wrong company as you say - just means a better job is waiting round the corner.

We had a follow-up appointment with the endocrinology consultant this week and he's agreed that Anya can start growth hormone treatment. He's got to apply for funding from the PCT because it's not a licensed treatment for her condition but he doesn't think that'll be a problem. She's got to have half a day in hospital in July having a whole bunch of blood tests etc, then we're seeing him again in August to start the injections. If it's going to work on her we'll know in the first 12 months - there's no way of knowing whether it will or not so I'm trying not to get my hopes up. So far she's always stayed on the same growth line, fully grown that would make her about 4'6 - which isn't bad, but if the treatment works it might add a few inches - plus it would make her arms and legs more in proportion, which would remove a lot of practical difficulties for her. Fingers crossed then!

Enjoy the sunshine this weekend everybody x

chocolatestar · 23/05/2010 07:05

Hello all. Jumping on to try and catch up. Hate that I am always behind but crazy hours at work just now.

NC it wasn't Grangemouth was it? I am near there. Edinburgh is really beautiful as a city if you can afford property there. I am sorry you didn't hear about the interview. I HATE it when they don't bother to contact you at all, I think it is really rude and unfair. Sorry the nursary is not so good either, I have all that stress to come.

Hope Miles is better Dalry.

FLoria are you getting some sleep now? Dareh sometimes gets nightmares and babbles away about things - usually he says I want it back although I don't know what he wants.

Hope you can get the treatment paid for WW&JC, must be really hard for you having to do all those dr appointments.

I am doing alright, infection finally cleared up. Dr said there was nothing wrong with me and that it must be stress at my last appointment. Wanted to sign me off work but I said no.

My periods are all over the place right now which might not be helping. Seem to having oddly long cycles. I am 14 days overdue, happened last month as well.

I think today is going to be no fun. Dareh woke me up at two and I could not get back to sleep. Very tired.

WhiteWineAndJaffaCakes · 23/05/2010 15:36

Choc - hope you managed to get some zzzs in today to catch up. Stress would explain your long cycles - I always go a long way overdue when I'm stressed. Glad your infection cleared up though - hopefully you'll feel better when you've had the chance to sleep.

Just having a sensible indoor break from the sunshine - there's hardly any shade in our garden in the afternoons. Loving this weather though - isn't it fab?

strawberrylace · 23/05/2010 22:12

hello everyone
We are loving this weather too - I hope it stays like this for the summer as i won't mind about not going on holiday then!

choc - glad your infection has gone - hope you feel a bit less stressed soon, though i know that's easier said than done
WWAJC - hope you can get Anya's treatment paid for, and fingers crossed it will have the desired effect, would be nice for things to be sorted out for her
NC - so annoying that you can't just find one nursery that is all the things you want it to be. I have been wondering what to do when DS can get his free place somewhere, as the timings don't really help with me needing to work
Hello to everyone else!

Nothing much going on here. Have a follow-up scan at hospital on Weds - its the nuchal scan for Down's which we were too early to have last time. Only really having it so I can see that it is really twins and to try and ask sensible questions instead of hysterically laughing... In between I am frantically trying to get a big project at work finished and off to print - will be a weight off my mind when it's all done (and then I have another one to start!)

Hope you are all ok

chocolatestar · 24/05/2010 06:53

Stress - yes that makes sense. The last time my period was due at the same time as my senior exam performance, it didn't come for over another two weeks and obviously I am stressed right now. Kind of annoying as I really wanted to be pregnant this month, give me something really positive to focus on. I guess our bodies know what is best for us though.

Still can't believe you are having twins Strawberry, can't imagine what thoughts you must be having about it. Exciting and a tiny bit scary I imagine.

Amazing weather this weekend although sort of hoping it is not so hot until Friday night as my drama studio is a black box with no window or air conditioning. It's like working at the gate way to hell!

Have a good day all!

FloriaTosca · 25/05/2010 10:38

Well so much for getting back on last Friday Dh got a phone call and the next thing he was arranging flights to South Africa!! Turns out a machine that Dh needs to see is being shut down(for inspection) today to dh needed to be there pronto or the next scheduled shut down .. which is going to be on the weekend of our BBQ..needless to say I didnt argue about him going now.
So Saturday we were running around trying to finish the dogs' part of the garden,(we have been terracing it and had just had 3 tons of stone chips delivered to finish off the job)so dh was shovelling stone into the wheelbarrow pushing it up the steep front lawn, round the house, up ramps and dumping it on the terraced bits)while I washed and ironed his shirts for the week and kept Alex and the dog out of Dhs way and Sunday we had some relaxing family time, walking through the woods and then chilling under the sunshade while Alex played in his pool...

Strawberry;I hope you enjoy your scan this time, without the shock factor Hope you are keeping well and are not too tired. I totally understand the nursery problem.. the playgroup and nursery nearest to me only do half days, both only do free place mornings when I need afternoons to take the pressure off the grans.

WWAJC;Great news about being given the go ahead for the growth treatment..I hope the funding all goes through without hitch..even without it she is going to be tall for someone with her condition. Good that you are generally getting along with H and nice that he is doing some gardening for you (though I can understand your ambivalent feelings about it...perhaps it is just a bit soon yet)

Choc;I hope the stress at work eases off soon..that drama studio sound like a lot of theatres I have worked in...no fun at all. I'm sure when the summer holidays come round you will be able to relax and get back to being regular.(I'll keep my fingers crossed for a BFP for you this summer)As you say, our bodies know what is best for us, have you tried a spot of yoga before bed to help release the tensions of the day?

NC; I hope the assignments are going well. As to naps, the hot weather has brought a return of the regular afternoon one (thank heavens), in fact on Sunday he had 2!!! one when he got tired on our walk, went in the back pack and fell asleep at 10am and the other on the drive to the airport at 4pm...it was bliss!

Inzi; I hope you and Jane are better now...I have been suffering similar symptoms because of tree pollen, I have been resisting taking antihistamines but may succumb as the coughing is waking me in the night (ironic now Alex isnt waking me)How is your Dad doing? any news about why his back is giving him so much trouble? How is you Mum doing?

Dog walking time I think...happy Tuesdays everyone

babyblue4 · 25/05/2010 19:35

Just warning... this is going to be a me me me post.

Last week DH was on holidays, and this week I need time to recover! We had our yard last Saturday and it went well. Managed to get rid of a few items and make space for more junk the kids to play . I was ready to punch one couple who came to the sale. White trash is what they were. I had bins and bins of baby clothes that I was selling for $1 a piece. More than reasonable especially since most are brand name, and the proceeds were being donated to a childrens hospital (since I usually donate the clothing anyway). The guy bargained me down to filling a shopping bag for $12. That was a steal! He and his wife proceeded to pick out the best items and stuff that bag til it was ready to explode (over 5 items Im sure)! I had to step in and tell him enough was enough! He then tried to buy a second bag for half price. I told him to forget it! LOL. He paid full price for the second bag, and I stood over him the whole time. Then he had the nerve to complain that a few items had stains! UGH!! My blood was boiling by the time he left! I hate yard sales, but they are a necessary evil!

The following day was the marathon. We were up at 5am and home by noon! It was a wonderful experience! I think my DS was the youngest one there. He kept getting all these cheers from the crowds as we were running! He loved it! The weather was perfect, so it was a pleasure to run . We finished the race in 2:13:49 which was better than the goal we had set for ourselves. But was I ever sore for the next 3 days!! LOL. We had such a good experience, that we are thinking of entering another race in September! Oh... you can see actual race pics if you look here. I am wearing a white shirt with bib #5372.

Monday and Tuesday were then spent 2 days away in Niagara. Shopping and relaxing were the only things on our minds! Wednesday we went to see the Harry Potter Exhibit. It was cool to see, but not worth the money it cost for admission.

Thursday and Friday we had electricians in the house doing our potlights. What a mess they made!! They had to cut a hole into my coat closet wall to get into the ceiling. Do you think they removed the coats, or asked me to do it??? NO!!! I ended up washing half a dozen coats because they were covered in dust and debris!

Saturday, Sunday and Monday (our bank holiday) were spent sanding down the ceiling, patching around the lights, and repainting. The dust was so bad I had to wash all the walls in my lounge and kitchen. The worst part was, I couldnt let the babies play on the floor! The weather was nice, so they spent the day outside. In the evening, Marco was put in his high chair to play. Considering he is walking really well now, you can imagine how well that went over!

So this morning my veterinarian neighbour came to get the cat. She is putting him down for us. She thinks he has kidney issues, and to be honest, he hasnt been looking too well this past weekend. DD1 left for school crying. He has been in the family for 13 years (we had him from 7 weeks old). DH and I are pretty upset as well, even though it is for the better. Clementine will be cremated and burried in our yard. The kids asked for a little cat statue to put as a memorial and are planting orange flowers (he was an orange tabby) for him. Very sad.

So after all this exhausting and draining activity, I got a call from work saying that my interview has been set for Friday! I am a bundle of nerves!! They are interviewing 20 people for 8 spots. The odds are good, but the fact that I have been out of my usual job for 4 years is not going to work in my favour. I just have to try really hard to make a good impression. Its a behavioural style interview, so they gave me topics that my questions will be based on. And I will be interviewed by 3 of my superiors. Wish me luck!! This would solve a lot of childcare and financial issues for me. The pay is the same, but the hours would mean not needing nursery school for 2 children.

Anyway... will try to post later. My neighbour just returned Clementine to me, so I need to go bury him before the DCs come home and see it. I think the whole grave thing may be too much for them.

FloriaTosca · 26/05/2010 00:11

Aww BB4...I'm so sorry about Clem :-( I sure you did the right thing though..it is so hard to know when to let go. My mum is trying to decide just 'when' for her cat too (we dont know how old she is; she adopted my gt-aunt 12 yrs ago and had already lost a lot of her teeth even then so couldn't have been very young, and Mum has had her for the past 6 years)she is very thin now and can only eat food that has been mashed for her but she is still keeping herself clean, enjoying a gentle stroll in the garden and a short game of catch the pingpong ball without distress so we are delaying the inevitable. It is so hard losing a much loved pet we have lost 1 lovely cat and 4 fabulous dogs over the years so know just how you feel.(((hugs)))
I said bravo on FB about your brilliant run but will repeat it here. Bravo you and Ds! I am in awe.
Niagra is amazing isn't it? We had a couple of days there when over in Albany for my best friends wedding 5 years ago...we stayed on the Canadian side with a view of the falls...very romantic.
I can sympathise with the work being done too, usually here it is Dh doing DIY and the mess always seems to outweigh the work...and recently it took 3 weeks for our facias, soffits and gutters to be done with the workmen taking up the whole of the garden with dangerous scaffolding, tools and materials; Alex was going stirr crazy not being allowed out to play.
Good luck with the interview on Friday. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you.

WhiteWineAndJaffaCakes · 26/05/2010 17:44

Strawberry - how did your scan go? How exciting to be able to see the twins. Hope you got your project at work done.

Choc - at least the weather's cooler this week while you're at work - can't imagine working in a black box while it's so hot!

FT - shame dh has to go to South Africa but at better than the BBQ weekend. Sunday chilling sounds lovely.

BB4 - Sorry to hear about your cat - it's such a tough decision to make letting them go even if you know it's the right thing for them. The memorial and the flowers sound a lovely idea. Wow at your marathon, what a brilliant time as well. You put me to shame managing to train for that. Such a busy week as well - grr at the electricians making a mess, as if you haven't got enough to do. Bet the lighting looks really good though. Fingers crossed for your interview on Friday.

After enjoying the weather for half the weekend, Anya was then ill Sunday afternoon and Monday. Not sure if it was a virus or a reaction to the heat - she does much prefer being too cold to being too hot. She had a nap on Sunday afternoon and woke up with a temp and was sick. Had to keep her temp down for the next 36 hours and she was still a bit sick and we had very broken sleep for a couple of nights. She was fine by yesterday so at least it didn't last too long.

Just off to bed soon but am lurking and just wanted to say inzi, you haven't killed the thread!

Will catch up soon, I know I always say that but will try my best!

BB4 - Sorry about your cat ((hugs))

Dalrymps · 28/05/2010 22:08

Ha, now i've killed the thread!

LisaLessLumpy · 29/05/2010 09:43

Thread killers, the pair of you

WhiteWineAndJaffaCakes · 29/05/2010 11:42

Inzi - glad Jane is better - hopefully her other teeth come through quickly. Glad you've got a date for your dad's op as well, and things must be better with his back improving. How long until the op? Shame you can't make the BBQ - we'll have to make sure it's not 3 years until our next get-together.

Nothing new here. Anya's on a sleepover tomorrow at her half-sister's (I think this is now a regular bank holiday arrangement) - not sure what to do with my time off yet.

Have a good weekend everyone
