Congratulations Dal Family!!!! Thank you Mr.Dal for the update (was very touching ). So glad to hear all are doing well and that once things had started, it was over relatively quick for her. Cant wait to see pics!!!

So who won the creme egg and are you willing to share ???? I was only off by a mere 6 hours and 2 minutes!! LOL

FloriaTosca · 21/03/2010 07:37

OH MRDal! You are lovely!!!! I have tears in my eyes. I am so thrilled for you both. CONGRATULATIONS!!! Dal and MrDal and big brother Dylan; Welcome to the world Miles Elliot. Dal I'm truly glad that it was so quick and relatively trauma free (frustrating that you got no pain relief though) Well done you!

No creme egg for me...I was off by 2 days and 1 lb 3oz

Congrats to the Dalrymp family. Welcome to the world Miles.

Cant believe you did it with no pain relief. Well done!

LisaLessLumpy · 21/03/2010 16:53

WAHAY and little Miles joins the world

Many Congratulations to the family, lovely announcement Mr D

I was way late on the day, time and weight but hey ho I'll have a celebratory creme egg anyway. Glad to hear Amy was up and about so quickly, can't wait to see some pictures

Inzi Great news on the potty training, long may it continue.

I am absolutely shattered, spent half of saturday morning 1am till 5.30am cleaning up puke from Ben, 4 loads of washing to do Saturday and that was as well as cleaning up and preparing food as we had a surprise party for my mums 60th birthday last night.

Had a great time though, I love my family they are ace, my brother bought singstar with him and we were wailing along for half the night I drank a bit too much but had a nice lie-in this morning till 10.30 but have had a relatively lazy day apart from clearing up. Ben was luckily ok by 10am saturday morning, very odd and lucklily shortlived illness.

Inzi Cant help but agree with most of the women on that thread who said to try again later. Why put yourself through the added work and stress when DD isnt ready. Try again in the summer when she is wearing less clothing, and you can be outside more often. I would definitely want her trained before baby (although she may backslide anyway when baby comes), but giver her a little more time. I have to say, those ladies were very civilized with their opinions! At least you didnt get anyone bashing you for not having DD trained a week after birth!!

So I finally got my potty out, dusted off and set up in our downstairs bathroom. I am not planning on pushing it, just want it there for Sofia to see and sit on. She did that this morning, then proceeded to pee in her nappy 5 minutes later. I know I am not ready for this, and as it looks, neither is she.

Sofia's latest antic: stripping and running about the house with just a nappy on shouting "Naked naked baby! Naked naked baby!"

Half term is finally over here, and the DCs are back to school and DH is back to work. The house is relatively peaceful and I plan to do a whole lot of nothing today!! Its been a tiring week having everyone home, and trying to get things done. It usually ended up that DH and I would put the kids to bed at 10pm and then get cleaning, laundry, cooking and organizing done until at least 2:30am, fall into bed, wake up with Marco at 5am then get up at 9am to get older DCs off to swimming lessons. No wonder I am knackered!! It doesnt help that our clocks went ahead last week and I have still not adjusted to the time change. Yours dont change until this week or next?

Oh well... off to have lunch while I have the chance! Sofia is napping (went down without a fuss except for the fact that she WANTED her clothes to sleep in!! ), and baby is fed and content.

NeedCoffee · 22/03/2010 22:30

BB- @Naked baby! I so wish we could all get to gether and see each others los when they're at their best. We all must post more videos!

Inmzi-I've posted on that thread, sorry if it doesn't have much feeling, was writing whilst watching the end of New Moon. Want my Top tips for potty training?

1]Have a bucket full of water and milton or soda crystals in to dump the urine socked pants and bottoms in until you get round to washing them, or it stinks your house out.

2)Gross I know, but depending how deep your potty is, don't empty it every single time she has a wee, it does your head in, ours hold's about 6 or 7 and has a lid, so I just empty it when I can be bothered, disclaimer-The child does sometimes try to empty it yourself, so empty if you're leaving the room.

3)Sit them on potty in front of the TV. Probably not the 'correct' way to do it, but when you have a child as obsessed with Dora as mine, you catch plenty of wees and poos and she got comfortable with going and didn't feel 'watched' all the time iyswim

4)Put her in thin trousers or tights or nothing-easier to pull up and down and less washing.

  1. Get her to wipe herself after having a wee, Shannon never did and now keeps getting sore, so having to teach her now. Not important in the grand scheme of things, just saves teaching later!

Obviously don't do any of the above if you think they're crap, just ideas of what I did.

Hi to everyone else

Wonder if Dal's home yet. Am at college tomorrow so will be back on tom night x

EvaLongoria · 23/03/2010 13:47

Bye guys

We're on our way... Hope you have some lovely weather

FloriaTosca · 23/03/2010 15:11

Have a wonderful time Eva!

Inzi; I dont think you are as impatient as you think but I thnk staying in is making you frustrated. When I started training Alex we would go out for a short while...usually taking the potty with us just incase. I quickly managed to stretch the 1hr to 1.15, 1.30 etc...but I still ask every couple of hours (usually get an indignant "No, fank you" though) and we still get the occasional accident when he engrossed in something and doesn't listen to his own body even though he no usually goes by himself (only asks me when he wants the big toilet..he's just too short to get on alone, even with a step)
My feeling isthatif it really is too soon then there is no shame in going back to nappies but if she truly is proud of her big girl knickers and doesnt want nappies back on then I hope you persist...have you tried a star chart (from the "fairy") ?...I think to them peeing is very different from pooing and perhaps need differnet/extra praise? But what do I know? What ever you decide it will be right one for you both.

hi eveyone else...meant to post more but busy again...Comedy store and cirque du soleil sat and sun, out with mum(and trying to tame her garden again) yesterday...and out at Mums for dinner tonight..(tournedos Rossini.yum, yum) but must walk the dog now before it starts to rain again ....I'll catch up properly tomorrow....I hope

LisaLessLumpy · 23/03/2010 15:12

Have a fabulous time Eva xxxx

heartofglass · 23/03/2010 23:28

hi all (tis hj here. Think I fell asleep on that beanbag!)

late congrtas to Dal

Inzi - we're not having luck with potty either. Have endeavoured to have another bash in a couple of months. It would help if he vaguely cared if he's in wet/drty nappy or pants

sorry a bit me me me now ladies but have been hiding away for a while. I'm nearly 15 wks pg. Things have been v fraught cos of the whole testing / not testing minefield (I carry chromo abnormaility. My dd has 1 variant of it - the other is incompatible with life) Ended up gong to fmc and having cvs (would have had to wait to have it done locally cos of position of placenta - possbly wait for amnio) Results completely normal which is obviously great BUT still a worry cos procedure has left me with a hemotoma. Grrrrrrrrgahhhhh. Been on bedrest last week but starting to potter now

Not shouting about the pg yet - want to wait till after next scan which depending on bleeding might be 20 week one (ie if no more bleeding)So pls don't say owt on fb (hence namechange here again) Tho is bloody obvious to anyone seeing me in the flesh (I was being asked over xmas if I was when it was just pies and booze.. swimmers were on their way though )

Dd has been ill as well - doing some v scary stuff. 3 A and E dashes this month and one blue light. Touch wood has settled now

I'm singing mary j blige in a v wobbly voice now.. no more drama in my life!..

Anyway, tired now so will try and pop in and catch up tomorrow but just wanted to update yous a little. Ni night

Dalrymps · 23/03/2010 23:50

Just a quick hello, thanks for all your lovley messages.. Just cam home today from the midwife unit. Am quite tired but so pleased to be back.

Miles is doing well and after not showing much interst is making up for lost time on the breastfeeding front. Am experiencing lots of pain when feeding and have lactation consultant coming to see me on thurs morn, hope I can keep going till then am resting one side tonight and expressing from it and feeding from other side.

Just wanted to say I did have some pain relief, gas and air, oh and paracetamol!

Dylan is being adorable with Miles so far, has been stroking his head and kissing him

Miles is currently sleeping on dh's chest...

Have just uploaded photo's to facebook as it's easier that uploading them on to here so will add them here later.

Nice to be back on the thread anyway, will catch up when I get a chance, hope you are all well, thinking of you all x x x

FloriaTosca · 24/03/2010 08:55

Dal; congratulations! You did so well. And your Dh is a sweetheart! I'm so glad you are home and Miles is doing well. I hope the bf consult can help, what a shame she can't come sooner...Hang on in there...(I never thought I'd manage 1 week...then 6 weeks..then 12 weeks.. yet here I am nearly 30 months later still bfing morning and night (yes, we have managed to drop the day feeds at last)!) How lovely that Dylan is being so sweet with his baby brother. Enjoy!!!I'll be peeking on Fb as soon asI finish on here.

Heartofglass; OMG what a traumatic time you have had/are having! I hope with all my heart that the haematoma dissappears and everything is ok, I soooo want to say "congratulations"...(you and Inzi must be due at the same time)...but totally understand your reticence...it is terrible when you have the dread fear of severe genetic anomalies, go through the dilemmas and stresses of testing and then after the relief of a good result have the horror of the threat of mc ....and on top of that your poor Dh!!!! how utterly terrifying!!! I do hope the problem has been sorted and he is ok now....In fact I sincerely hope that 2010 becomes a much more boring year and everything runs smoothly and uneventfully for at least another 12 months; you have had enough trauma for 1 year at least! Fingers and everything else crossed for you.

NeedCoffee · 24/03/2010 11:31

Hi HOG! (nice name
Fab news about the pg, hope everything runs smoothly from now on with the pg and DD stops giving you so many scares! Whilst you're resting up you can be on MN more

Hi Dal!! Welcome back, so glad Miles arrived safetly and that Dylan is loving him. Am hoping that the pain whilst bf eases up soon for you. Are you going ot be in over the next couple of days? Will probably send that quilt tomorrow as we're away from the weekend.

Am waiting for HV so having to keep it brief, will be back later on though.

Dalrymps · 24/03/2010 12:37

Hey NC, yeah, in tomorrow so that's fine

NeedCoffee · 24/03/2010 13:51

Hi Dal, it won't be tomorrow as it wont be getting sent till tomorrow. You in Fri? Have FB messaged you btw

LisaLessLumpy · 24/03/2010 14:31

Gorgeous pics Dal, well done you and I hope you last out till thursday on the bf, all credit if you do, I gave up after 12 hours with ben

HOG - Ditto what Floria said. What an awful time you have been having, I sincerely hope this year is better for you xx

Dalrymps · 24/03/2010 16:26

Nc - Miles has his heel prick test on fri and it's Ali's birthday so we'll be in and out... Can we pick it up from the sorting office if we miss it? I don't mind doing that...

LLL - I can totally understand you giving up after 12 hours with Ben, thankfully Miles wasn't intersted for 24 hours and then only fed with big gaps in between or i'd be a lot more sore by now. He's feeding properly now, every couple of hours, oh the pain!!!

I say to myself i'll give up after each feed but then the next one comes around and I can't make my mind up so just do it again... It's not like I can just stop really cause my milk has come in and i'll get engorged, I have a pump but it doesn't work that well on me so I kind need miles to keep relieving the pressure iyswim.
