Ok so a pretty boring thread title but thought we needed some distance from the last one!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Inzi - oh hun! So glad you've decided not to leave - I've read that other thread and there is no way that is anybody in this group - as you pointed out she disappeared pretty quick when you challenged her. If it really was somebody from here why would they have waited so long after your diet to voice an opinion on a subject that obviously sends them completely mental with rage?! You've done amazingly well - don't let some opinionated cow take that away from you.

Potty fairy approach sounds wonderful - very creative. I shall pinch it for when Anya decides she wants to sit on her potty without clothes on. And well done to Jane! Sorry your midwife appointment was a bit rubbish as well.

NC - yes Anya has her back molars coming through, the last 4 - just about through I think. She's driven me nuts today - has been screaming at me when she wants to reach something but can't without me picking her up, which is apparently against toddler rules. Glad the dentist wasn't anything serious.

BabyBlue - enjoy your half term and your organising.

Dal - sorry your midwife appointment was a bit of a battle - at least the sweep was gentle. Fingers crossed now for Friday (chcolate at the ready).

I looked at a local nursery this morning - we're thinking of doing maybe a couple of half-days a week - I still worry that she's not socialising much with other toddlers. I liked it a lot - it's very small, only 30 children, so everybody knows everybody else, which I like. I'm going to see a couple of others to compare. I'm starting to worry about how Anya will cope though - the last 3 weeks we've gone to a SureStart session which involves the children being in a creche without parents for about an hour while the parents get info on healthy eating, etc. (It's better than it sounds, honestly!) Anya hates it though - the first couple of times she just looked sad all session and then cried when I picked her up, but today she'd obviously been crying on and off for the whole hour - her face was so red and puffy when I went back in, I felt terrible. I was a bit annoyed that the creche staff hadn't let me know she wasn't settling - and I think a lot of the problem is that they use agency staff so they've been different each week. I've agreed with the course organisers that she can stay in with the parents instead of going to creche for the remaining weeks, but I'm now a bit freaked out as to how she'll be in a nursery for half a day. .

Sorry, still have stuff to do before bed so run out of time to read other threads (what a busy couple of days!)

Hugs to everybody not mentioned.

strawberrylace · 17/03/2010 23:33

hello everyone
Sorry i've been awol yet again - nothing bad this time, just not enough hours in the day it seems.
So no hope of properly catching up on what everyone's been doing, but just a few things to say
Inzi - your weight loss is great, I know how hard LL is, its not an easy option, and frankly what you choose to do is up to you, and people shouldn't criticise that. So i hope you can put those nasty comments (and the rubbish midwife!) to the back of your mind
NC - sorry that your colposcopy turned into a bit of a nightmare, hope you don't have to go back
Dal - sorry you've had a bad midwife experience too, and I hope you're not actually reading this, but giving birth of your own accord
WWAJC - hope that you find a nursery you like - i'm sure that if it's a place where Anya sees the same faces that it will help her settle in.
Muppet - you are soooo creative, i wish i had a nice hobby that could turn into a business
A very fond hello to everyone else - BB, Floria, Eva, ALicet, LLL, people i've forgotten etc etc

After a very busy two weeks back at work (several major projects to get moving, most of which frustratingly would have been easier and simpler if people had just given them to me at the start, not 6 months to a year in with tight deadlines now....) I am off on leave for two weeks. Annoyingly, not because I am going on holiday, but because my childminder is - she's off to Mexico, and I am stuck here! It will be nice to spend some time with DS though and as I am now feeling a lot better, hopefully we can get out and about to places.

He is also a bit terrible-two-ish at the moment. Very strong willed, thankfully not too many tantrums, but spends most of his time saying 'naughty mummy' or 'naughty daddy' because we won't let him do what he wants/have what he wants. We are nowhere near potty training, as he refuses to sit on his potty or the toilet at the moment, and when offered big boy pants or nappy, always says 'nappy mummy'. so just leaving that for the moment - unless i can perhaps invent a 'potty monster' - as a fairy isn't going to cut it in this house!

Hope you are all well, and don't leave anyone!!

Dalrymps · 18/03/2010 08:43

Morning ladies,

Yes, i'm still here...

LLL - Looks like no creme egg for you!

Sounds like Ben is getting the idea of the potty so it should be a breeze by summer

Boo to the fillings, I need to get a check up at some point... Not had any work for years, just a check up about a year ago I think

NC - I think sat evening is a safe bet

Sorry your colposcopy app was so swful , at least it's over with. I remember feeling a bit grossed out/squiffy at the biopsy idea when they took mine (I had 2) I felt the first one a bit but not the second one... I suppose at least there was a lady to hold your hand and keep you talking. It's annoying you'll have to be put to sleep if you have to go back but at least you'll be unaware of whats happening I suppose. Well done for getting through it anyway, it's not pleasant!

Sorry your day was generally sh*t and stressful too, last thing you needed when you had the appointment to think about.

How are you feeling this morning?

Inzi - Sounds like the potty training is going fantastic, well done you and Jane!

Lol at you having trouble watching embarassing bodies, I'm the same, have to keep covering my eyes and peeping through my fingers

No creme egg for you either... I wish there was cause I'd the holding the little man by now!

BB4 - Ah good you have creme eggs there too, yummy!

Your hosp app sounds horrendous I can't believe they tried to make out it was your fault and accused you of lying what a horrid thing to say to someone in that position . Glad all is ok now though.

WWAJC - I sometimes worry about Dylan going to nursery too, he is quite sociable but not sure how he'd be with people he's never met before...

Having said that I think nursery will be a lot different to a creche, for a start I'm sure most of them have 'key workers' that get to know your little one so they always see a familiar face and become attached to their key worker. My niece has a few people she will go to at her nursery even if she's been on holiday and isn't wanting to leave sil/bil, she's usually fine once with her key worker. I'm sure after you've looked around a few you'll get a good idea of where she'd settle. You can always break her in to it slowly an hour or 2 at a time.

Strawberry - Nice o hear from you, sorry you're so busy at the moment. Probably a good thing you're gonna get a few weeks off even if it wasn't the plan!

Dylan is about the same with potty training, fine in nappies and won't really sit on the potty without leaping up and running off!

Lol at 'naughty mummy', Dylan's favourite at the moment is 'mama's farted' I wouldn't mind but most of the time he says it I haven't farted at all!

Well, another day of waiting and wondering here, mostly resigned to being induced although can't help but wish i'll suddenly go in to labour just before with no warning...

Hi to anyone i've missed x

Ok, you guys.... go a bit slower on this thread. Whenever I think it would be just a page or so long then its 4-6 pages that I miss.

Dal Hope Miles makes an appearance soon. Its not nice being overdue and can only imagine how fedup you must feel. Feel for you with Dylan as Aaliyah sometimes go through that as well. BuT i have learnt to just walk away and leave her screaming, it normally then dont last longer then it would if I was still fussing over her. She would then always come to me and say sorry Mommy.

NC hope you feel better. I am very bad as well. I faint at everything and really cant stand pain. Once my arm had to be x-rayed and just watching other people I fainted and woke up on a bed.

WWAJC I am sure if she is in a nusery or childminder she would settle better. because with creche's its always different people working different days and hours. Never consistent. And especially if she is new to it all it would be better for her to be with more consistent people. Hope you get it all sorted.

Muppet Glad to have you back. I found the other name odd as well. I would read and only if you mentioned the kids name would I realise it was you.

Strawberry Hope you have a lovely 2 weeks.

Inzi cant believe that thread that you linked. I think some people just need to get a life and I also didnt believe for one minute it was one of this group.

I have taken all my time reading so dont have time for a long post but I read it all cos I have been let down yet again. My Au Pair is awol and my childminder is sick is cant have Aaliyah. It would have been her last day with Aaliyah because we are leaving next week. I am very annoyed because I have such a lot of things I need to do and now not only couldnt go to college today because no one to pick her up early from childminder (ooops just realised as I typed that I had to let my lift know that I cant go in cos she is due to pick me up in 15 minutes, lol)

Au Pair just packed her bags last week Thursday and then came with an overnight bag here but hardly did any work. The last 3 weeks she has just not done anything. So anyway yesterday I removed all the furniture from her room and moved Aaliyah into the bigger room and will now use the smaller room as my study and just not have a guest room anymore. When Rich came to the house last night (we had to take last of Au Pair's stuff and drop it off at her boyfriends house to get our key back) he was shocked that I changed the rooms. Sometimes men think us women cant move furniture. Today I wanted to attempt to chuck the mattress down the stairs to get into the garage but might wait for Rich to come tonight to move it. not that strong

I just dont know what next I will be jinxed on.... Life can be so hard sometimes. Just when you think all is sorted then Bam! something else

EvaLongoria · 18/03/2010 12:22

Any advice on how to fill those blow up sofa's. I bought a selection of Dora storage for Aaliyah's room and a sofa. But the sofa is blow up and Aaliyah decided to jump on it even after me telling her several times it is to sit on. So guess what a whole rip on the one side so even the puncture seal wont work. I am thinking of maybe filling it with something. Any ideas and maybe where I can buy what you suggest.

Thanks

Morning ladies,

Inzi - Glad the potty training is going so well, you must be so pleased, will be strange to not have to change nappies, well for a little while!

Eva - Sorry you've had a difficult time with your au pair and childminder, what an inconvienience when you have so much to do. Hope you manage ok!

Not sure about the blow up sofa, maybe you could get some foam or something from a sofa place? Sorry that's a bit of a rubbish suggestion!

Well, induction day here. I feel a bit scared kinda cause i know more about the whole thing than I did last time and I keep imagining all the things that might go wrong, wish I could just clear my mind and relax!

I'm very excited about meeting the new baby though and introducing him to everyone

Also feeling emotional about leaving Dylan, he'll be sleeping at grannies tonight and staying with her intermittantly whilst i'm in hosp. I just had a little cry but I think it was more to do with it being our last day together just 'us' 2 without little bro, he's my pfb, I love him so much! I'm sure i'll have twice the amount of ove soon and have my two boys on my knee though

Inzi - I know, I keep getting a tear in my eye if I think about it too much

I have to ring the hosp at 8pm and if they're not too busy I go in for 9pm. Quite late in the day but I think it's so the first pessary has time to work overnight...

Wow, 2 dry nights, it seems to be going so well, you obviously waited till she was ready

muppetgirl · 19/03/2010 10:09

Hi Dal - am so excited for you!! Next week you will sitting on your sofa with lo and Dylan thinking that Miles had always been here. New babies have a way of just slotting in, making themselves at home and I'm sure Dylan will love him. Get as much rest as possible today...x

Eva -not sure what you could fill it with really????

Inzi - fab news on the potty training Jane is doing so well and obviously ready for it. Think the fairy idea was inspired

Toby managed 6pm - 7am last night (woohoo!) with amoan around 3 ish and 5ish. Not at all thinking this is it for him sleeping through but does shine a little light at the end of the 'god I need sleep!' tunnel.

Needcoffee -how's you today? Hopefully feeling a little less sore.

We're supposed to be going to Bath today for lunch in the pump room (supposed to have ahappened weeks ago...) but dh has disappeared off to the gym to do a couple of hours work. [hmm} not looking hopeful for this week then! I have my best friend and her hubbie coming round tomorrow to look after the boys as we're off up to London to see a show -avenue Q and a stay in a hotel. Really looking forward to some dh and I time. The boys love their Aunty (she's the lovely girlie who can't have children) as her and her hubbie are just on their wavelength. They will have lots of un whilst we're away. It works out well for them too as remember my firend being induced -she's been in since tuesday and the pessary hasn't worked and they're too busy to break her waters so she's still waiting around. You may see her updates on facebook...well, she's my bestfriend's hubbie's sister. (oh, yes, sounds just like Jeremy Kyle!!) My bestfriend, Kate and I went to uni together and my bestfriend married Kate's brother. They were hoping to visit the new baby at the weekend while they were here but it looks like it might not have arrived.

Off to make some more bags and try an apron, love to all

FloriaTosca · 19/03/2010 10:39

Hello Ladies!!!

Dal; no cream egg for me then but you will be seeing Miles for the first time tomorrow...I must admit your last 2 posts have had me cholked up too. When was induced I had the pessary at 3pm (1cm dilated, head 1/4 engaged, didnt need a second as I was 10cm by 6pm, had waters broken at 7pm, epidural and put on drip at 8pm and had him at 7.30am....bet you are quicker than that. Sorry to read about stupid MW..you had every right to be angry. Wishing you a swift, straightforward and smooth delivery. [hugs]

Inzi; I can't believe that crazy woman was one of us either (though of course "we" were many more right back in the beginning but it certainly isn't one of "us" now...writing style is unfamiliar...and none of us has been ill with ketosis have we?) You were absolutely amazing sticking to such a tough regime and look truly amazing....thank heavens you didnt leave us because of her nastiness. Well done with fairy idea, sounds like it really did the trick..Bravo Jane! Shocked at your MW treatment too...that is what the tear stickers on your notes are for...what a stupid woman to think that, just because you have had a sucessful pg since, the past tragedy is wiped out of your memory well done you for sticking to your guns and not losing your temper.

NC. Sorry you had a bad reaction...my GP said that most women have a drop in blood pressure when they have their cervix 'tampered' with...and the worry about implications won't have helped. I hope it comes back clear and sets your mind at rest.

LLL; enjoy your last day of peace for 4 weeks...I hope Dh is getting better/less stressed.

Muppet; sooooo glad you changed your name back I just couldn't think of you as theoldbarn ...love the hearts and bags and like the apron idea...how about nappy stackers/bed tidies... baby mobiles...school P.E. kit bags? Love the Chrysler.. I drove one belonging to a pal last year and felt like queen of the road.

BB4; your hospital horror story is dreadful too! Thank heavens he was ok in the end.

Strawberry; enjoy your time off...who wants to go to mexico anyway?

WWAJC; well done with the DIY..amazing what you can do when you set your mind to it isn't it...before you know it you'll be installing your own drains, draining and repairing your own central heating, building your own patio and putting up your own gutters(just some of the jobs I did before Dh took over )

Hi to everyone I have missed...crochet, alice et al..hope you find the time to drop in soon.

Sorry to have been off so long..thanks for all you thoughts last week[grateful hugs all round] Thane got 2nd in his class at Crufts and his niece got best of breed. Our wedding anniversary was quiet but lovely..he didnt buy me an iron ball and chain after all but a very pretty decorative iron rack for my garden tools. Mothersday was lovely; a morning with Alex (I got a pilates dvd and a lovely card)and my Mum, and an evening meeting the ladies from the over 40s mums MN thread at the midland hotel, champagne and chocolates, dinner at waggamammas and entertainment at the comedy store...monday we met up again at Slatterys (a world class cake shop in Bury/Manchester).Tuesday I was clearing my Mums garden (she got flowers but she wanted the garden doing as a Mums day pressie)all day while waiting for my car to be serviced/mot'd and yesterday...well that is a complete story on its own... I'll tell it later when Alex has had some energy burned off at the park (glad to hear that Mr Unabletodecide ContradictHimself is not alone

FloriaTosca · 19/03/2010 10:46

oops Eva..sorry forgot to post;...have you thought of polystyrene balls for filling the sofa? Have a fabulous time in SA if we dont get to chat before you go...I hope you get everything fitted in before you fly and come back with a potty trained dd

Muppetyou didnt get your trip to Bath. I hope your pal gets attention soon'ed that they have left her so long esp after such a huge baby last time. Have a fab time in London.

Dalrymps · 19/03/2010 17:03

Right ladies, got some errands to run then off to pils to get Dylan settled before we go so i'll say bye for now.

Dh will try and update you asap

Dal!!! Good luck. We're thinking of you.

Muppet-Your poor friend, hope she get's it out soon. Jeremy Kyle eh??

Inzi-Great news about the potty training!

Eva-ummm cushions? Can't you take it back and say it was like that when you opened it?

FT-ooooh tell us the other story. Well done Thane Yup that was what the nurse said, something about blood pressure, it was very scary, don't think I've ever felt like that fainty feeling before.

News from here, think I've overdone it today.
Messed the rest of my exam up, so anoyed that we didn't finish it last week, had to try and get back into it and had forgotton loads of stuff. Then I walked round town looking for something where nowhere had one, the walk was okay, but college bag so heavy.

Then got on bus with Shannon and had to drag bags and child upstairs because noone would give there seat up or move the pram for me to sit or at least her on a seat. I totally don't mind prams on buses but I try very carefully to only use one place with the pram and I'll stand, but there was a couple sat right at the front and a pram taking up 4 places!

Anyone thought I could chill out when I got home but Shannon emptied her bladder all over her booster chair and my dining room seat, so got her bathed and cleaned up and the washer on, then she vomited all over me

Have got a bit of back ache and feeling dizzy, hopefully can get to bed once the second wash has finished, maybe I'm coming out in sypathy with Dal

Someone should have got her mob number to get updates!

Sorry for the selfish post, hope everyone is good

NeedCoffee · 19/03/2010 21:04

Sorry! Missed out strawberry and WWaJC-Was too lazy to scroll back down before posting.

Strawberry-What a pain that your child minder has gone away, could you not have used a nursery or family while you work? At least you'll get quality time with DS

WWaJC- I agree that nursery should be easier than a creche, the same people every time will be easier for anya-They'll get to know her and how to handle her-Like at Shannon's nursery-A lot of the time I think they let her get away with things because apparantly 'Shannon get's what she wants' and they find her easier to deal with if they ignore her rather than fighting her iyswim.

muppetgirl · 19/03/2010 22:00

good luck dal(and mr dal)!!!

watching sport relief and crying a lot. I am so lucky...

love to all
xx

NeedCoffee · 19/03/2010 22:12

Awwww Muppet

EvaLongoria · 20/03/2010 00:38

Dal Hope Miles have arrived by now if not thinking of you. And dont worry Dylan will be fine at his grannies. I think us moms get more emotional then they do

Inzi Well done with the potty training. I wish I had your guts but right now I am a little selfish and really dont have the time to be patient.

Muppet That did sound like something out of Jeremy Kyle... Not that I watch it... (anymore) not that bored now. .
I hope you have a great time in London and enjoy some quality time with DH

Floria No wonder you disappeared lately... looks like you have been really busy. Over 40's meet sounds great wish I can just meet up with a few mums but no kids. Just for one eve

NC Sorry to hear that you messed up with exam... Hopefully it wont be too badly messed up. I really have empathy with you and a toddler and a bus... I am definitely getting my licence before the end of this year because I have had enough of struggling with buggies and buses, etc. Looks like you had an adventurous day today with Shannon. Sometimes when you write about her it sound like Aaliyah, lol.

Guys I totally cant believe that I havent told you guys of my very important meeting as a mum on Tuesday. It was our first meeting with the pre-school that is attached do the school that DD will hopefully attend. It was such a excited but scary evening. I cant believe that my DD will be starting pre-school when we come back from our holiday. I am suppose to order the uniform poloshirt. Its not compulsory but all the little ones where it and it will make life so much easier i think. She is not 2.5 yrs yet and I cant believe how quickly the time flew. I was this night that my Au Pair never turned up for babysitting and I almost went alone while DH looked after Aaliyah but luckily I got hold of a friend that managed to pop over and babysat. I am now super ready for a second baby because my baby is growing up way too fast.

NeedCoffee · 20/03/2010 10:09

Any new mr Dal? Hope all is going well Dal :_

Eva-awww @ you going to see the pre-school, bet she'll look so cute in the little polo shirt Also it saves her other clothes getting ruined.
I do drive but always go into town on the bus so I don't have to fight rush hour traffic or pay for parking. I'd normally be fine with lugging her and bag's upstairs, it was just that I wasn't meant to be heavy lifting for a few days.

What's everyone up to today?
I've got cartoons on and going to try and get one of my assignments started Wish me luck!

FloriaTosca · 20/03/2010 16:54

babyblue4 · 20/03/2010 21:57

Also popping in to see about Dal?? Nothing on FB either.... Ooohhhh... hope everything is going well and that Miles is already here!!

FloriaTosca · 21/03/2010 00:35

Just got back from the comedy store and popped in to FB; 6 hrs ago Dal was saying she was walking round feeling crampy, 5 hrs ago someone was congatulating her and her dh and big brother Dylan....???? does she know something we dont?

Mr D??? announcement please????

Dalrymps · 21/03/2010 01:12

Hello Ladies, this is Dalrymps DH here. I would like to announce, on behalf of Amy and I, the arrival of DS2 Miles Elliot born at 17:58 on saturday 20/03/10 weighing in at 6lbs 14.5oz!!!! Mother and baby are very well. Amy was truly fantastic, an amazing lady. She was placed on the hormone drip at around 1pm but didnt start full on contractions until 4pm. So the labour was only really just under 2hrs long!!
Amy requested an epidural due to intensity of the drip but by the time she was examined she was already 7cm dilated and therefore too late for the spinal!! She then requested pethadene (excuse the spelling) but by the time the midwife had even left the room Amy felt the urge to push. Miles was born shortly after with cord round the back of his neck but it wasnt tight enough to cause any problems. Amy suffered only a very minor 2nd degree tear and had 2 stitches. There were no other complications and Amy is already up and about, showering and walking the ward. What can I say, she is the most incredible woman I have ever known and I really couldn't express in words how proud and thankful I am of her and what she has gone through for our little family. Thank you all for your constant support, I know it means the world to Amy as well as myself.
Amy is still in hospital this evening but is hoping to return to our local midwife lead unit in the morning. Dylan is very excited and has already declared his 'luv luv' for his new brother I'll keep you updated as mush as I can. Sorry for the late post, I've only just got back and couldnt wait til the morning to tell you all x x x
