Ok so a pretty boring thread title but thought we needed some distance from the last one!

Strawberry came home yesterday & has the nurse coming out to do IV antibiotics twice a day for a couple of days, then onto tablet Antibiotics.

Her dh & mil are looking after her &ds. mum is going at the weekend.

hopefully not long before she's on the mend.

babyblue4 · 24/02/2010 19:42

Bogwoppit - glad to hear Strawberry is on the mend.

My DS1 is now sick with the stomach bug. Still keeping fingers crossed that Marco won't get it. A 7-month-old with a stomach bug will not be fun. Besides, DH is going for the snip on Friday, so I will have another 'baby' to look after .

Took me forever to get Sofia down for her nap today. After countless stories, a bum change in the middle of it all, and all kinds of conversation, I finally left to the sound of her screaming and jumping in her cot! Of course, thats just when the baby woke from his nap, so there goes any chance of getting things done.

FT - I wish I had more time to spend with my older DCs. Sometimes I feel like they are constantly deprived of my attention, because I have the 2 LOs that need me more. I know that will change, but it makes me feel guilty. I try to do things one on one when I can.

Anyway... off to rummage through my closet. Am gathering all my maternity clothing to take to the consignment shop this weekend. Now that I have outgrown it all, I dont want to see it again!! Besides, the money will come in handy to finance my shopping spree for a new wardrobe once I have lost the rest of my weight (less than a stone to go now!!).

WhiteWineAndJaffaCakes · 24/02/2010 21:06

NC/FT - 10-10:30 sounds good - yes yes yes please to the spare car seat, that would make life so much easier ! And don't bother with cleaning the car on our account. Do you want to meet at Asda's again? What time?

BBlue - glad you had a better day with the kids. How frustrating that Sofia and Marco don't nap at the same time - that would be blissful. Hallucinating toddler sounds very scary - H did that once when he was on really strong painkillers - he got very agitated about stacks of imaginary boxes in the corner of the bedroom - completely freaked me out. Hope ds1 is better soon and Marco doesn't get the bug.

Bogwoppit - thanks for update on Strawberry - so glad she is home and she's got lots of help.

Went to see H's flat today - I'd sorted some of Anya's toys out so dropped some round there. It is really nice - very big and Anya's room is lovely, and she's obviously happy there. It's closer than I thought too, less than 10 minutes away. I'm very glad I took this week off work - I'm sort of settling into a routine now, which is good, but it's been much easier without having to be in the office.

Hugs to all x

NeedCoffee · 24/02/2010 22:37

Sorry I am on the way to bed so will reply tomorrow evening. Just wanted to post to let FT and WWAJC know that I'll see them in morning. Any problems just text me x

FloriaTosca · 24/02/2010 22:58

WWAJC; I'll be at Pilsworth Asda for 9.30 if that is ok with you? Looking forward to seeing you both tomoz.

Bogwoppit; Thanks for keeping us updated. So glad Strawberry is home and has her family around her (it must be a relief to be out of hospital) and hope she is feeling better soon...I had it years ago and it knocked me sideways...tell her not to try to do too much too soon.....continue to recover vibes winging their way ...

Quiet nights all.

muppetgirl · 25/02/2010 10:50

hi all

Hope you're having a lovely meet up! am very xx

Babyble- we're like that in our house re the naps. Toby would nap in the morning and Hne in the afternoon, meant I had the pleasure of one of them all the time but it would have been wonderful to have a little time to myself during saylight hours. Hen has now decided that he doesn't need a nap so that's that now. We pay for it around 4pm as although his mind doesn't want to nap, his body still thinks this would be a good idea as he's knackered.

Toby still doing press ups (photos on facebook Babyblue are you on FB would you like to be friends?) feel sorry for him as he's getting a little frustrated with not getting anywhere though he can get to where he wants to be by a mixture of wriggling, reaching and rolling.

Henry still tough but yesterday I bit the bullet and got water play out, took them both to the park -it wasn't rainning/snowing for a change- and he was much better. I think he's getting a bit bored hence the behaviour but I have Toby still needing naps and I find it hard to balance the 2.

All at nursery/school today so time for me to do the shopping/clean/tidy ect. is just nice to have a coffee on my own

love to all
x

muppetgirl · 25/02/2010 10:50

so sorry...
strawberry, I hope you're feeling better xxx

WhiteWineAndJaffaCakes · 25/02/2010 20:38

Had a lovely meet-up today - it was great to see NC & Shannon, not seen them since the last York meet-up. Of course great to see FT & Alex too! Softplay centre was huge and very busy - the dc's loved it, I've never seen Anya so adventurous, climbing across rope bridges . Went to Bella Italia for lunch, which was delicious - dc's getting a little tired and grumpy by this time (except Shannon who was good as gold) - and Anya was completely freaked out by the helium balloons.

Anya had her first proper throw-herself-on-the-floor temper tantrum tonight. She'd slept in the car on the way back but she was soooo tired when we got home that half an hour later she really didn't want to have her dirty nappy changed. I carried her upstairs and she threw herself on the floor crying (to the point of retching) and screaming 'I do it' - so we had to go back downstairs so she could come back up on her own. Except she wouldn't go back upstairs ('I want cheese' ) - so we had a stand-off at the bottom of the stairs for about 10 minutes until she eventually decided she wasn't going to win and went up to have her nappy changed. She had an early night after that and I think she'll sleep well!

Muppet - wow at photos of Tobias doing press-ups - he's going to be off like a rocket soon! Hope you enjoyed some time to yourself today.

FloriaTosca · 25/02/2010 21:47

evening all!

Lovely seeing NC and WWAJC and the delightful and beautifully behaved Shannon and Anya today ...Alex, as sadly usual, was not so beautifully behaved and ended up with a tap on the bottom for pushing poor Anya over...ho hum

Muppet not in the least surprised you are enjoying the peace of having a cuppa on your own..I'm dreading Alex dropping his nap completely....glad to hear extra stimulation is helping with his temper ... shame you couldn't have just beamed over to the super soft play place nr Leeds we were at today...that would have run off a bit of his surplus energy

Early to bed for me tonight. Hope you all had fab days too.

FloriaTosca · 25/02/2010 21:53

xposted WWAJC; sorry to hear that Anya has caught tantrumitis from Alex Hope she recovered before bedtime and it doesn't turn into a cronic condition like his

NeedCoffee · 25/02/2010 22:17

hi all

Muppet-Glad you got the boys out for a while today, I bet it did Henry good having a run around. Poor Toby, he won't be long before he's off!

Was great to say you 2 too.
I didn't see any altercation between Alex and Anya, must have been when we left or on one of our frequent trips to the toilet.

Pay centre was good, kids enjoyed it and Bella Italia was nice. Not suprised they fell asleep on way home, Shannon was a bit of a grump when we got back after sleeping most of the way, was quite late for dd1 but she had a key so came in and watched tv.
Shannon was quite well behgaved today, apart from an hour after going to bed we realised she'd took her nappy off and wet the bed so washer's on.

Rich taking Shannon away for the weekend tomorrow night and I'm off to Blackpool with my friend Sat morning so I may not get on, so I'll wish you all a happy weekend now

Have had a banging headache since half way home so will be off to bed very soon.

strawberrylace · 26/02/2010 11:32

hello everyone
thanks for your messages, they were much appreciated. was awol a bit I know before the whole scary hospital pneumonia thing - just lots of rl things going on.

anyway, thanks to bogwoppit for her updates - its been a very painful and
quite surreal couple of weeks. one moment i was fine, just recovering from a
cold i thought, the next moment i had such a temperature and then I went to the docs and he sent me straight to hospital. not helped by having an early miscarriage as well.

The hospital people were very efficient, but very busy - lots of ill people,
so I think they were glad to get me home, and i've had nurses coming in for
the last three days giving me iv antibiotics. after that i swap to ordinary
ones for a few days, and then hopefully that's me on the road to recovery. i am starting to get a bit of an appetite back which is good, as this is a bit of a drastic diet to repeat!

Poor DH has been fab thoughout everything, having to keep me and DS sorted. luckily our childminder offered to have DS for extra days this week, so that's been good for him. and my mum is coming up at the weekend so that will hopefully give him a break!

have been reading all your posts to try and catch up, and realised that the first time i was separated from DS overnight since he was born, was the night i just spent in hospital on a drip and oxygen - not the romantic night with DH that i may have imagined!

I will be so glad to see the end of february. My best friend is relocating to New York at the end of next week, so I have some teary goodbyes coming up - joy!

Sorry for the me me me post, i promise i will read things properly now so i can reply to things
xxx

FloriaTosca · 26/02/2010 14:45

*Strawberry ((((Hugs)))) what a terrible few weeks for you. So sorry to hear of the early m/c and to hear of your illness from Bogwoppit [frightening emoticon]. But I'm glad you are getting a bit better and are both well enough to be going onto normal abs and to be able to post to us yourself. It is wonderful that your Dh coped so admirably (sorry your first childless night was in such circumstances though)and lovely that friends/family/childminder all rallied round. I'm sure your friend leaving the country will be very sad, but from personal experience I have found it not to have been as terrible as my best pal and I imagined when she flew off to NYNY, cheap phone calls and the advent of skype have made things almost as if she wasn't across the pond, though I will admit it isnt as intense as when we worked together 9hrs a day and still sociallised together in most of our free time, but in the 8 years since she left I have been over there twice and she has been back here 4 times and we have been there for each other through the big events of our lives (we have each got married and lost a parent in the last 6 yrs)she is still my best friend...the miles can't change that. I'm sure it will be the same for you.
Take thing easy even when you think you are better... having had pneumonia myself several years ago I know how easy it is to have a recurrance if you push yourself too soon. If you get bored, come on here, we'll try to keep you entertained

NeedCoffee · 26/02/2010 18:50

Strawberry-Nice to hear from you, sorry you've had such a hard time of it lately
I hope you're well on your way to recovery and as FT says, if you get bored, I'm sure MN xan keep you occupied

WhiteWineAndJaffaCakes · 26/02/2010 21:51

FT - Anya slept well and has turned back into her normal cheerful self today [smugemoticon] so hopefully the tantrum was just the result of a long day yesterday.

NC - hope your headache went after a good night's sleep. Enjoy your Blackpool trip this weekend.

Strawberry - so sorry to hear of your mc - what a terrible couple of weeks for you. So glad you are on the mend now - wishing you a speedy recovery. Great that you have had such a lot of support from family and childminder.

babyblue4 · 27/02/2010 00:37

Strawberry - So sorry to hear of your ordeal. I am glad you have such a wonderful support system to help you get through all this. Get lots of rest and let the rest of us keep you entertained

And speaking of supportive partners... Well... Ended up with the D&V last night. Good timing, in the sense that DH had just walked through the door from work, so he was able to do bedtime. I was hurling from 9:15pm until sometime around 3am. It took everything out of me... could barely hold the pail to my face at the end... sorry if TMI. Lost 4lbs in a matter of a few hours. Stayed in bed all day today. Its now 7:00pm and i have finally got out of bed for a quick change in scenery. Because DH went for his 'snip' appointment early this morning, and I could not get out of bed, I had to keep DD1 home from school to help out with the babies. Can you imagine?? Feel like such a bad mummy putting that responsibility on a near 12-year-old. I promised her a mommy-daughter date very soon as a thank-you. She didnt even complain, bless her. Then when DH got home, she went to school for the afternoon. I have to say, he has been very good. Even told me he feels guilty for allowing me to get my tubes done when his procedure was so simple and relatively painless. He hasn't complained at all about having to run the household alone today in his 'condition'.

Have read everyones post... to tired to catch up properly though. Hope everyone is doing well. Just had a piece of toast and a scoop of choc ice cream couldnt resist... besides I need to get my strength back

alicet · 27/02/2010 17:57

Again time has run away with me and I haven't had a chance to catch up or post. I;ll try to catch up tomorrow.

In the meantime - NC told me that inzi's 12 week scan went well - yay! Good luck Dal - 1 week today

Will try and catch up properly soon - the prob is that I leave it a few days because real life gets in the way, then it takes too long to catch up so I leave it thereby accentuating the prob!

Anyway I am thinking of you all xxx

OP posts:
Dalrymps · 27/02/2010 21:29

Evening ladies,

Just popping in to say hi and that i'll catch up soon...

Saw midwife on thurs and baby back to back (just like Dylan was, ouch) so have spent my every waking mintue since then either sitting leaning forward or on all fours over my birthing ball. It is not the most comfortable way to spend the end of my pregnancy, I just wanna flop!

Strawberry - Glad you're out of hosp, hope you feel better soon, what an awful thing to go through. So so sorry to hear about the early miscarage too if you ever wanna talk about it we're here.

Alice - Hi! great to hear from you!

Hi everyone else, thinking of you all x

I will come back to catch up properly cause the only way I can type on here is to sit on the egde of the sofa with the laptop on a foot stool thingy so I lean forward and I haven't got the energy to stay on here long right now so off to lean on ball.

Bye for now x

WhiteWineAndJaffaCakes · 27/02/2010 21:37

BBlue - oh my word, poor you. Hope you are feeling a bit better now. I'm impressed your dh did so well during your incapacity - he must have been a bit sore - what a man!

Alice - hi, we've missed you - hope you get time to catch up.

Nothing exciting going on here - h had Anya this morning so I got some shopping done that I can do quicker without her, then a friend popped round in the afternoon for a coffee - Anya wasn't impressed, she was obviously disgruntled at not having my undivided attention for the afternoon and kept pulling me away to the kitchen and glaring at my friend .

WhiteWineAndJaffaCakes · 27/02/2010 21:39

x-posted Dal - hugs to you for having such an uncomfortable time - hope the baby turns successfully - all be over soon hun x.

FloriaTosca · 01/03/2010 08:25

Morning ladies

BB;What a dreadful D&V bug!Deep sympathy I do hope you are fully recovered now. What a star your Dh is coping after his vas...a pal of ours couldn't walk for 2 days after his...and your 12yr old DD too deserves some very special mum and daughter time, how lovely to know you can rely on her if needed.

Dal; I hope the uncomfortable positions have done the trick...I heard about running cold water over the top of your tum to turn a breech but don't know it that would work for back to back...fingers crossed he has already spun round... just a few days to go now [excited emoticon]

Alice; good to see you pop in..I hope you can find the time again soon.

WWAJC; lol at Anya glaring at your friend..Alex has taken to hiding under my skirt or burying his head in my shoulder and if those fail he covers his face with his hands with anyone he doesn't see regularly[eye rolling emoticon].. he soon gets over it though...its a stage _

Yet another busy weekend here;Yesterday Alex had a ball at his pal Matthews 3rd birthday party with their his best mate James (3 in July) they played pass the parcel and pin the tail on the donkey with 2 of Matts female cousins (5 and 7) who really didnt want to be there with little boys...we then had pals over for the afternoon to watch the cup final and then went to Mums for dinner...slob around the house day today to recover I think.

Hi everyone else. Has anyone heard from chocstar/stefka at all?

babyblue4 · 01/03/2010 20:22

Hello all... feel so out of the loop Had a rough weekend and am back in bed AGAIN today with this stomach bug. Seemed to have hit me hardest At least I am not vomming today. Just have really bad stomache ache and cramps... almost feels like AF is getting ready to veer her ugly head for the first time. No appetite either... which really wasn't nice since I had 2 functions this weekend both in restaurants!

Teeth - still waiting patiently. With the way Marco has been screaming at night, you'd think his entire mouth of teeth were coming at once. Although last night he gave us a break and woke up at 5am the first time, and then got up at 8:30am with me. Both times he just did a normal cry which was quite nice!

DH was a sweetheart and did some cooking for me today, so all I have to do is re-heat. The DCs have a school holiday today, so all are home (and helping with the LOs), so its been quite an easy day. Dare I say I havent had this much sleep in months??!! Sad to say that it takes an illness to get some rest!

Did everyone have a nice weekend? We tuned in to the Olympics whenever we could. Wish I could have been there. Both my work and DHs work had raffles to send people over to Vancouver to work for 2 weeks, but neither of us applied (because of the kids). My older DCs were sooo excited when we won the hockey game, they took the flag out into the street last night and were waving it at the corner. All the cars passing them were honking their horns in celebration. We ALL love our Hockey!! LOL

Dal - Thinking of you. Hope that baby turns for you and doesn't give you a hard time. My sister had horrible back labour with her oldest because he was back to back. I am sure all these uncomfortable positions you are enduring will pay off in the end.

Muppet - Yes! Add me to FB [email protected] Funny that both our LOs are the same age

Anyway... off to bed again... hope everyone is doing well xx

chocolatestar · 02/03/2010 07:02

Hello

Sorry I have been awol. I am a terrible coward when it comes to conflict situations so was hiding for a bit! Daft I know.

Floria thank you for checking up on me - it gave me the push to come back.

Will try to catch up after work tonight. x

FloriaTosca · 02/03/2010 08:51

BB; still ill? Oh dear that is a bad one I do hope it passes soon. Congratulations on the hockey gold...That image of the kids waving flags on the street corner is fabulous. I hope 2012 brings a similar surge of patriotism over here .. atm we hesitate about hanging a flag out on St Georges day for fear of offending someone

Choc; conflict? what conflict? Glad you are ok and are back with us. We missed you. How are things with you and yours?

We have been having decent enough nights since 'operation no night time boobies' until this week ...and now he has started waking 2 and 3 times a night again and getting into our bed(not asking for milk until 6ish but talking and wriggling/kicking and generally keeping me awake)...so last night I put on the monitor again and leapt out of bed to intercept him in the hall whenever I heard him get up...12.00, 4.00, 5.45!!! I finally allowed him to come through at 6.45... we had lots of demands for "Mummys bed!","Big Bed!" and "I want my Daddy!" each time... I answered with "sshh! night, night" through the monitor, but had to giggle when I resorted to "daddy is asleep, you go to sleep too" and he shouted "wake him up!" ....Let's hope tonight is a bit easier.
Happy Tuesdays everyone

chocolatestar · 02/03/2010 17:17

I am good - very busy though! Work is ok - a few problems with Senior management at school. I am thinking about setting up my own little theatre company so that I can do work with young people and I don't have to ask senior management everytime I want to breath but there are cost implications in that so we shall see.

Dareh is well. Not really been potty training but have had it out and talked to him about it and the last couple of days he used if for the first time of his own accord so we were all quite excited and Dareh was running around singing 'Dareh did a poo on the potty, what a clever boy' at the top of his voice.

The sleep battles still continue then Floria? Dareh is not bad now although sometimes I have to go and sleep with him in the middle of the night. If DH is snoring then that is often no bad thing!!
