Pre-schools are used to and fully able and equipped to deal with potty training little ones; so I would go with your instinct and send him in Big Boy pants He'll be completely crap and inconsistent with his wees and poos for the 1st couple of weeks and then he will get the hang of it. Just tell the practitioners at pre-school to keep reminding him and taking him as regularly as poss. Keep with it and all will be fine My DD1 and DD2 were a nightmare to potty train and DD2 (nearly 5) still wets herself about once a day (grrr) Phoebe is completely trained now, which is a to me as much as anything else. She still has the occasional accident (wee mainly and sometimes poo); but she was terrible in the first week or so; but has been fabulous now that I have persisted with it!! BIG bag of spare clothes carried round at all times!!

Sorry for the ramble, but to all those potty training here. Stick to your guns!! You WILL be ok!!! xx

(sheepishly pokes head around door) Hello! Keep seeing NL, SPB and GMM on threads and mean to come in and say hi... is it true - are GMM and I the only ones left with onlies??

I like the title - and yes CD you're right, N goes this september [waaah] though a rather callous HURRAH for not paying nursery fees!

I'm afraid I am not up on what everyone is up to but I hope you are all doing ok.

Elkie I have just seen your message and I am so sorry about your Mum and everything you are all going through. I can't remember if I told you my dad was ill with leukaemia. We went through the mill a bit with it all, as you do. It's a really hard time and I am thinking of you and wishing you strength.

Eddas · 08/03/2010 19:04

Hi Maveta nice to see you

CD, you're right they do know what to do and it's not like all the kids are training at once so he may well be the only one that day to need reminding I took him in his pants and warned them. No sooner had I left when he peed on the floor ooops!! He then had another accident. Good job i'd put 3 pairs of sapre pants/trousers/socks in his bag!! I think the cm may need a suitcase full tomorrow I will continue and see how he gets on whilst with the cm. She does only have him to deal with and he's not there at school run time so it hopefully won't be too bad for her. Although she does like to go out and about. I might text and pre warn her incase it'll muck up her plans for tomorrow

oooggs · 08/03/2010 20:34

can't remember if I have mentioned this but the new pre school which dts are going to after Easter (which the Countess of Wessex opened today!!!!) won't take until 3rd birthday

Basically they are expecting them to by dry and have no provision for changing nappies.

Jack hasn't even started yet and is in nappies - not pull ups - they have 2 small toilets and a large disabled one and that is it.

Any great ideas - they start on 19th April - he is not interested - but it is discrimination

Eddas · 08/03/2010 20:39

oooggs, I don't think they can do that. Our pre-school (which I'm treasurer and trustee of) used to have a policy which stated they wishe children to be dry before starting but they have had to change it as it is discrimination and they cannot refuse entry to a child on that basis. They have to have nappy changing facilities.

It is a pita for them though as if they need to change a nappy they have to have 2 staff, one to change and one watching.

The things i've learnt sine being on the pre-school committee are astonishing, I never knew just how much went into it all!!

oooggs · 08/03/2010 20:49

thats very interesting eddas as in the afternoons they only have 2 staff

Eddas · 08/03/2010 20:53

only 2 staff? How many kids are there?

oooggs · 08/03/2010 21:00

not many children in the afternoons (less than 16)

in the morning they have 3 staff and 24 children 1:8 ratio for over 3's

Eddas · 08/03/2010 21:14

Can you imagine looking after 8 3 year olds I have no idea how they do it!! I went in and helped for a morning once and was exhausted

I would talk to them about it oooggs. You can't force him to train if he's not ready. I'm not convinced this attempt for my ds will see the end of nappies. Anyway if he goes in big boy pants they'll only end up clearing up the puddles. I did feel guilty today that ds had 2 accidents at pre-school.

oooggs · 08/03/2010 21:20

nope - not my idea of a fun day

I HATE POTTY TRAINING

elkiedee · 09/03/2010 13:55

D still has a bottle and C likes to play with them but hardly uses them - he didn't drink much formula out of a bottle at CM's and now won't drink much milk, though he feeds quite enthusiastically when I'm around to offer him. He likes to drink water from a cup though.

Hope things get better with the potty training oooggs, I'm not sure when D's going to learn.

Nice to see you Maveta. You did mention your dad's illness, how is he now?

Maveta · 09/03/2010 14:29

Good luck to all with the potty training, I forgot to say that! We had it pretty easy with N and for that I am very thankful

Elkie - he is fine, he has ongoing health issues but he is here with us and has been in remission for - oooh - I think about 10 years now and counting. We went through a worrying few years with him and I remember it well, there's little anyone can say that doesn't sound hollow in the face of what you are dealing with. Take care of yourself, you are also affected and need love and care to get through it x

CaptainDippy · 09/03/2010 15:49

So lovely to "see" you Maveta

They can't do that oooggs- you should chat to them!!!!!

Hi CD! Wow when did this thread go so quiet?? All those 2nd ,3rd etc babies keeping you busy or something it´s cold here! Actually snowing. last week dh and I were just commenting how mild it was, wearing spring jackets etc and now back to woolly hats etc. Nice though, especially cos I am not working today or tomorrow so still in my dressing gown..aaaaah.

hope you all have a nice day!

AngeG · 10/03/2010 09:11

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRHGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH

Rant alert !!

I'm so fed up of sick children!
Jake started being sick at 2am sunday morning and was sick every 45 mins until 8pm that night. Then sick once on Monday. Not at all yesterday and then sick again today...Meanwhile Izzy started being sick at 11pm last night and is still being sick every 30-60mins

Anyway moving on...

Maveta great to see you

How is potty training going Eddas?

Bramshott · 10/03/2010 10:55

Oh dear Ange - it's hideous when that happens isn't it? Hope they are on the mend soon. Is Izzy managing to get it in a bowl?

All fine here, although I'm feeling a bit blurgh about work and stuff. Not sure if the sort of freelance work I'm currently doing is the best plan for me in the long term. But then not sure I could go back in 'employment' and do all that offic politics stuff! Not sure what has brought this on - maybe the realisation that both my kids will be at school in 18 months time !

oooggs · 10/03/2010 12:08

oh hell - dh just rang - now not back til monday, fil & wife coming saturday to stay with us - haven't seen them for 18 mths so kids don't know them argh (they haven't met Luke)

worse still - high possibility he will have to go again - miss dts birthday & party, them leaving nursery and the start of our holiday

I am so tired and feel so sad - but I have come here to moan as this is kind of moaning in secret

Sexonlegs · 10/03/2010 16:27

wish you all lived closer!!!

well FIL & wife arriving tomorrow pm from Scotland to stay with us I have warned them that my day starts at 6am (at the latest) that I hardly stop all day, I am in bed by 9pm and up several times in the night. That I won't have the time or energy to be a perfect hostess and that they will have to chip in - and they are still bloody staying with me

runnyhabbit · 12/03/2010 21:37

Evening all

Hope everyone is ok

Big cwtches to you all x x x
