Thanks for thoughts and messages

My baby brother (who is 33 in May!) phoned at 9 pm last night. Surgery went quite well, no nasty surprises and she apparently won't need to use a stoma bag. He will keep me posted. I think I should send an email or Facebook message to her dh later as he will need our support too, but I chose phone contact from Gareth as mum's dh is rather deaf and also goes to bed about the time I resurface from settling C for the night.

CaptainDippy · 17/03/2010 12:09

Glad everything seems to have gone ok so far Elkie Great news about the Stoma

D's birthday's not until May. Haven't got him that many birthday pressies before, will probably get him a few little things this time - probably a couple of DVDs, an outfit and a small toy or two. At least his viewing is more varied than it was - at one point it was Fireman Sam continually - he's rediscovered Teletubbies, we got a Pingu DVD at a nearly new sale and he's also watching the Bob the Builder and Big Barn Farm DVDs he had. And he also likes watching Walking With Dinosaurs and Meerkat Manor. All of those are better than Fireman Sam, I think!

Eddas · 17/03/2010 13:32

i'm glad teh news is positive Elkie and I hope it continues to be

My dc are getting bikes for their bdays as I won all those Halfords vouchers We're getting ds a balance bike and dd will egt to choose one(her bday's in June) so no doubt it'll be pink and sparkly!

DS is also getting a real childs camera as that was in my halfords prize too! and I got dd a vsmile pocket from Tesco in there sale as it was 75% off and only £15 bargain!!

That'll be it from us, but quite enough anyway.

I've started planning their parties too, makes sense to buy party bag bits/prizes etc in bulk so i'm getting them all now. I didn't use to like this time of year as my bday's end of Nov and dh's is end of sept so everything was always end of the year, good planning of dc's bdays

Oh and one of the hamsters dd got for christmas has escaped and is MIA in our house somewhere

ScarletBandit · 17/03/2010 15:18

Eddas, hope you find the hamster soon. I have seen your facebook messages about trying to find it!

Elkie, really pleased that the news is positive so far

I haven't got F anything for her birthday yet and it is in less than a fortnight. Really don't know. Don't think I can cope with more dollies, but she does love them!

ScarletBandit · 17/03/2010 15:19

I have just realised that this thread has been running for 2 months
Hard to believe that we used to fill a thread in a day back in the good old days!

ScarletBandit · 17/03/2010 15:22

Won't be on tomorrow as I will be in work most of the day, but thought you might like to know that F has a visit to school tomorrow afternoon as she starts after the Easter holidays.
This means that I have to go school uniform shopping for my baby! How can three years have gone by so quickly?!!

AngeG · 17/03/2010 16:58

Sexonlegs · 17/03/2010 21:29

Elkie, so glad things are so far so good with your Mum, and a relief re the stoma. My Mum has one, and unfortunately it is not behaving itself

Ange, glad all the illness has gone. We are also getting K a dolls house She loves playing with it at nursery.

SB, can't believe F is starting school after Easter; is it the same school as E? How many hours/days a week?

SOL - Izzy loves the dolls house at pre school we are getting the one from early learning centre in fact I'm chugged to bits as I went on the website to look earlier and it been reduced to half price! Only £55 and I've got a 20 percent off voucher to use to get some of the room sets Which one are you getting?

Forgotten everything else, hope you're all ok xxx

AngeG · 17/03/2010 22:22

I meant chuffed obviously not chugged!

SPBInDisguise · 18/03/2010 07:34

hi everyone
hope he doesn't havr to go oooggs
no idea what we're getting T for his birthday, but i have planned the cake & cbeebies card
Is anyone else finding the terrible 2s are being replaced by the even more terrible 3s? T is constantly disobedient, tantrumming, wingey, yesterday we discovered he'd scribbled all over the TV screen with a pencil - it's one of the soft ones, luckily seems to have come off! I have to admit i do not like him at the moment, finding it hard

Sexonlegs · 18/03/2010 07:54

Hugs to SPB xx K is still pretty good, but B was v wilful at 3. It is a phase. Hang on in there.

Ange, I have seen one in ToysRus which is £49 and comes with loads of bits; assuming they haven't sold out!

Need to head.

Bramshott · 18/03/2010 08:54

Glad to hear that the news is good so far Elkie - thinking of you.

SPB - we are in a major tantrum phase here too - O is MUCH worse than N was in that regard! Yesterday she was screaming in the car when we got home, with usual toddler logic that "this isn't my house" - so I left her there to calm down. Was mortified about 5 mins later when a neighbour knocked on my door to say "I think your baby is awake" . Tried to explain that actually my baby was being a demon child and screaming and hitting my face every time I went near, so I had left her in the car to calm down. So then after that I went to get her, carried her upstairs and put her in her room until she was calm (about 20 mins in total). There is no reasoning with her when she's in full-on tantrum mode, so I usually put her either on the stairs or in her room until she's calmer. Not sure if this is the best plan - what do others do?! While O is in her room or on the stairs she launches herself at the door and tries to pummel it into submission . So much anger for one so small!

SPBInDisguise · 18/03/2010 09:07

yes i put T on his bed until he's calmed down
leave him & go back after 5/10 mins
Sometimes he's back to normal, says "I not crying any more" and we have a kiss, sometimes he is still possessed.
How did my little baby turn into this?

SPBInDisguise · 18/03/2010 09:08

lol at your baby is awake! sorry but the have no idea
Do they get better by 4 then? pleasse say yes!

oooggs · 18/03/2010 11:35

not better by 4, just different

Bramshott · 18/03/2010 11:58

I think the screaming tantrums become much less common by 4, and then tail off completely by 5. What comes in their place however, is sulking and eye-rolling!

SPBInDisguise · 18/03/2010 13:13

ah yes but sulking & eye rolling won't wake the baby

SPBInDisguise · 18/03/2010 13:14

glad to hear my beautiful, innocent baby isn't in fact the devil child after all!

CaptainDippy · 18/03/2010 16:30

P is a very willful little madam too - "no" is one of her favourite phrases!!! Sigh. Although, choosing to do the school run in a dressing gown and wellies today
