WFH/TT - Oh my love, I just read your post. I will keep everything I have crossed that your Mum is a suitable candidate. And I wish you all the strength you need to remain positive for her.
My Mum had a successful biopsy (uterus) about 17 years ago. She is just one of many people I know who have kicked cancer on the arse. The Gee family's thoughts are with you. xx

PuzzleRocks · 12/01/2010 17:42

The girls are happily mess making so time for a catch-up.

My two are still bunged up and I don't feel so hot now myself. Ho hum.
I must look a bit rough because my Mum rang yesterday to say she wants DH and I to have a break and she would like to pay for us to have a weekend away later in the year. I love my Mum. Yes bloody please.

Has anyone done the "your fine" test. I got £640. I worked out that pre DH it would have been less than half so he must be a really bad influence.

Shame about Riven, I really liked her too.

King - How was your night out?

Kali - How did you find your return to work? Easy transition I hope?
Thanks for the snow, ours has all melted and I want it back. It was so pretty.

Auld - Sorry to hear you are having a shitty time. Roll on Spring. This Winter has been nothing but bugs and viruses.
Re the canteen, I agree with Gui and MrsG.

Bicnod - How is the childminder hunt going?

Gui - How awful. Does your DH talk to you much about his work? It must be very tough.
If I worked for the police I would probably end up like this.
Anyone see this film?

Zulu - Four weeks who have me worried. Are you on the pill by any chance?

Bebe - Your poor Granny. Mine is just as stubborn.

Waves to Oddeyes. I have a giraffe too.

Ooh and B52's. HJello there.

Fei - I have never been very good at forward planning. A few weeks is all I can muster. So i'm afraid i'm useless to you.

PuzzleRocks · 12/01/2010 17:50

Kitty - Bloody hell sweetheart. . Major respect to you for overcoming a such a horrid obstacle.
You sound great now though, thank goodness. We have a facebook group, you should come join us. Not least so we can see the gorgeous Gabriella. [nosey]
We are thinking about an April meet up too.

Guimauve · 12/01/2010 18:42

Happy Birthday Bronze! I hope DH and the DCs have spoiled you today!

Hey B52s! Good to hear the boys are starting to get on

Howdy Oddeyes - poor little E with a poorly chest - hopefully she'll get over it quickly. Has she antibiotics? I do not have a giraffe!

Kitty, so good to see you , and so sorry you had such an awful few months. PND is a cruel thing indeed, I am glad you are beating it. Oh, and no teeth here either.
I assume Feierabend already told you on a different thread that she is Schulte, as she has failed to list herself above
Re: FB group - it is now secret, which means it cannot be searched for. If you wish to join, Kitty, hunt out BB on fb (I think she was your buddy so you should know her RL name!) and she should be able to invite you, I think.

TT - what a pain your Mum's op is delayed. Is it due to hospital-related reasons rather than anything to do with her condition?

Surprise - big congratulations to your sister, how exciting! Will this be your first niece/ nephew?

Puzz - DH does talk about his work sometimes. I try to make sure I ask him about work lots so that if there is anything he needs to get off his chest, he can. It's a tough job though.

TwilightTurtle · 12/01/2010 19:36

Evening

Sorry haven't done much of a catch up lately - have been busy toing and froing to hospital and whatnot.

So Mum's op is to insert a stent to bypass her bile duct, and apparently there are only a few people experienced enough to do it, and they're not available till Friday. Poo.

Poor old Orbit has a really bad cough and very rapid breathing - am in two minds about whether to take him to the doctor tomorrow, assuming it doesn't snow too hard to go anywhere. Got a bit worried about meningitis and things after his bath, as his lips had gone blue and he was a bit mottled, but I think he was just a bit chilly. He's still eating and playing, although he gets tired more quickly, so he can't be too ill.

Tigga you asked ages ago why we're renting - I wasn't ignoring you just hadn't got round to answering. Reason is that we used to own a house in London which we rented out, so when we first moved to Bristol we rented as well. We weren't sure where we wanted to live or if Bristol would work out.

Now we've sold the house in London and want to buy but there's very little on the market that's any good, and our landlord wants us out quite quickly so he can sell this place, so we'll have to rent for another year I think.

Kitty well done on getting treatment and starting to feel better - sounds like you had a really tough time, poor you! Hope you continue onwards and upwards.

Surprise exciting about niece/nephew! Do you feel broody ?

Better go and tidy up toys before DP or I break my neck.

kingbeat23 · 12/01/2010 21:40

Hi guys - Had a great night out last night, got in at 1.30 am and i dont know how i managed to type tbh, I think it took a long time!!

Needless to say, I have been hungover all day and feel crappy, but was so nice to get out of the house and childless too...a rare treat.

On the plus side, Iris is now better, so I should be able to go back to work on Thursday now....

Thanks for help and advice guys..

SurpriseInACracker · 12/01/2010 23:37

big big big big catch up!!

Nutty - how is your big bro now? Hope things are going well for him x

Hope all the poorly babies are better now.

WFH - sorry to hear about your mum (hugs)

Bebe - Evie has been lucky in that she has never had a sore bum or redness, all I use is the pink Johnson's wipes that say 'as pure as just using water' (or something!) on them. TBH I have used them since she was born . They are unscented and really wet so cleans everything up nicely. Then I give her a quick wipe before putting nappy back on so ensure she's nice and dry

Hope your DH is sorting everything out now bebe, I can totally understand your frustration! And I don't understand what he's thinking really? And sorry to hear about your grandma's hip

Blimey Auld that is a long day for a 4 year old. and a long lunch time. I don't know what to say really but hope you manage to come to an agreement that is best for all of you x

so so good to see you back Kitty I do remember your daughters name, I am sure you were on the list not so long ago! Well done you for getting over the PND so quickly. Hope you can stick around with us now

WFH/TT - everything is coming together for you at the moment isn't it these things are sent to test us, hope everything is sorted out and you are settled again soon x

Hope you have had a great birthday Bronze
((happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you!!) :D

Yes, my sisters baby will be my first niece/nephew really, DH has nieces but this will be my first blood niece or nephew! And no, I can honestly 100% say I am not broody! I thought I would be, I have been broody for the last 20 years nonstop! But I think 3 is enough for me, I am exhausted as it is. And the last few weeks of being pg with Evie and then her being a big baby for me, hardly any waters etc, I was so uncomfortable taking the boys to school at 9 days overdue was virtually unbearable and I feel well and truly done with baby making!

Gosh, I do love my little poppet to bits! (I do love my boys just the same though!).
She finally has a little tooth poking though. She has little strands of fine white hair coming through too and she is ALWAYS smiling! She is still BF about 7 times a day but I really don't mind anymore, I'm sure she won't be doing it forever. I still can't get her to drink from any kind of cup apart from a glass, so BFing it is at the moment.

I think I've decided against the swine flu jab for her, anyone else?

She doesn't crawl but she shuffles on her bum and get onto all fours and then slides backwards! She claps, waves and says mumma, dadda and hey-o (hello!).

And if I swing row row row your boat she rocks backwards and forwards and sings along!

We go to rhythm time which she loves! And start baby yoga next month

She sleeps all night although she doesn't go to bed til about 9.

The only trouble I am really having at the moment is with DS2. He is really attention seeking, I think I need to spend more time with him alone but it is so so difficult with DH working late and me working from home. But he is only just 6 and he does need mummy time, will have to make more of an effort! Anyone got any tips please? But I don't want to leave DS1 (10) out either!

Well I think I have babbled on enough now, have got to get some sleep, have been reading this for 2 hours now!!

I really hope we can meet up in April. Am kind of hoping it will be in easter hols so that DH can drive me and he can take the DS's off for the day and me and Evie can come and meet you. I aim to get there anyway!

Night night all xxx

SurpriseInACracker · 12/01/2010 23:39

sing not swing!

dawntigga · 13/01/2010 07:59

Had Sam weighed and he's 19lb 10 ounces - considering he's classed as premmie and weighed 5lb 11 oz when he was born, momma's boobies do VERY good work

HV told me that it's ok he isn't crawling etc. yet (have been secretly very worried) as he should be about a month behind everyone else and he's doing 'remarkably' well considering. She also went on to tell me how lucky I've been and what could have happened with him being early.

I'llNeverComplainHeIsn'tKeepingUpWithTheOthersAgainAsI'mSooooDamnLuckyTiggaxx

SurpriseInACracker · 13/01/2010 08:54

Hi Tigga that's great news

DS1 was 6 weeks early. He was 4 lb 9 oz and he was about 2 months delayed with most things but by the time he was one he was 22 lb and walked at 16 months. He soon caught up with everyone else though (even though he ended up in the year above what he should have been in at school due to being born early!)...

keep up the great work!

Feierabend · 13/01/2010 09:47

Good morning

Oh no TT, that doesn't sound good about Orbit, how is he now? If not better, I'd take him to the docs to be honest but them I am a paranoid mum and always taking my girls to the docs.

Surprise, lovely to see your update, Evie sounds a dream. No waving or hand clapping here! When are the Easter holidays? Not sure about DS2 except give him some special mummy time, take him for a swim or so? It's difficult though if Evie still feeds that often during the day?

Tigga well done you and your boobs There are plenty of babies Sam's age who aren't crawling yet so I wouldn't worry AT ALL.

I have just made myself depressed by looking at the kind of house we'd get for our budget if we moved to the countryside. No idea how DH would get to work though, probably a drive to the nearest station. And I suppose I'd get bored out of my mind sitting in the middle of nowhere with the girls.

PuzzleRocks · 13/01/2010 10:07

Surprise - Sorry. I forgot to say congrats to your sister. I have a niece/nephew due this month on DH's side and i'm very excited so you must be thrilled. And how lovely that the baby will be close in age to Evie.
I think Holly is clapping, although it looks slightly more like a frenzied chicken flapping its wing.

TT - How is Orbit this morning?

King - Good for you. Sounds like you had fun. Although I don't envy the hangover.

Tigs - Sounds like you are both doing fabulously.

Feierabend · 13/01/2010 10:16

at frenzied chicken.

Yes Surprise I too forgot to say, how exciting about your sister!

dawntigga · 13/01/2010 10:36

Sam is almost waving - he waves his arm up and down very enthusiastically in response to you waving to him. I however, confuse him, whereas dp waves his arm to say hello, I wave my hand. He'll stop 'waving' and look at his hand when I wave at him!

Sorry I'm not responding to any of you. Though I am reading and feeling happy and sad and encouraging to each of you in the right places. I just cannot seem to muster the energy to type the proper responses. I am however embroiled in a AIBU abt fb and kids. Because I feel I can be short with strangers .

PuzzleRocks · 13/01/2010 12:43

Hey Nuts, glad that cloud had a silver lining. Best wishes to your brother. xx

Feierabend · 13/01/2010 12:51

Wow Nutty, yes it's better to know about these things, when are you going to get tested? Glad your brother has had the right treatment!

bronze · 13/01/2010 12:55

Bebe I am like that a lot

PuzzleRocks · 13/01/2010 13:11

No sweat Bebe. We still love ya. Bronze too.

bebemoohatessnot · 13/01/2010 14:07

That's why I love you guys. You're so understanding

TwilightTurtle · 13/01/2010 14:21

Hello lovelies

Thanks to those asking about Orbit and my mum - Orbit seems a bit better today, he's still very congested but we've had many more smiles, probably due in no small part to DP letting us both sleep in till 9am while he got DS1 up and ready for nursery. Bless that man.

Hoping to go and see mum this evening if snow allows - have just gone out to get the car out of its parking space, took some effort and wheel spinning but it's out and now parked outside the house in a slightly less snowy spot. I took Orbit's baby monitor with me as he was napping, car was about 100 yds up the road, I always wonder if it's ok to do that but the alternative is putting him in all his outdoor clothes and into a cold car while I manoeuvre, and that seems mean. I can see my front door from the car and have the monitor, so I guess it's no different to being in the garden.

Nutty delighted you got to see your brother and it sounds like a good thing in a way that this happened, at least now he knows and they can take good care of him - and you and the DDs if necessary. Wishing him speedy recovery and lots of luck to you for tests.

Feier I firmly believe that living in the countryside with small children is a recipe for madness. You need to be able to get out and about to shops and playgroups and life easily, otherwise I reckon one would get VERY bored and lonely. We have been considering it as it does look cheaper, but you factor in petrol and a second car in our case, and suddenly it's not so cheap.

Tigga go Sam! That's a splendid weight. Not sure how much Orbit weighs but he's got his 10 month check in a couple of weeks, no doubt we'll find out then. A lot, is my guess.

Surprise no real tips for DS2 but have you told him that you understand he's feeling the lack of attention? Even if you can't do much about it, acknowledging his feelings, even if he doesn't really know he's feeling them, can go a long way, I think. Just something simple like 'I know I've been really busy lately and we don't get much time to play/cuddle etc, it's a bit rubbish isn't it? It will get better as Evie grows up, in the mean time here's an extra big cuddle for my big boy'?

Must go and ring Mum.

bronze · 13/01/2010 14:38

I live rural but in a village. I think you need to make sure there is some kind of entertainment. We have a school and a playgroup (no shop) plus a pub...most important

Feierabend · 13/01/2010 15:09

Thanks for the views on countryside life you're probably right. Although without children, I'd quite happily spend all day, every day sitting in an armchair, reading books and looking out the window. Maybe I'll save that for when I am old

Nursery have phoned to say they are closing at 4pm today. They did this twice last week as well and seeing as the snow is actually MELTING at the moment, I think they are taking the piss. Grrrrrrrr.

So glad Orbit is better.

mrsgboring · 13/01/2010 16:07

Hello all

TT I have done the same as you re moving the car with baby monitor on passenger seat. Also getting bins in etc. I think it's fine.

I will try my very best for a proper catchup tonight.

Snowing hard here. I took E out to the shops and walked a mile back with about 15kg of shopping on my back (E on front) so am tad tired. Unless my maths is off though, ti's not an awful lot more than being full term pregnant which shows how bloody awful it is.

Fei I am with you on sitting in that armchair, though I do like to go out and enjoy the bright city lights / plays / concerts etc. too when not encumbered by children

Must stop neglecting said children. More later m'lovelies
