Hello can I come back? I've been very rubbish recently. Nothing major wrong, just the usual gripes of life. I found the second half or last term very tough at work, just dealing with the amount of work and juggling home life etc. Jack seemed to be constantly ill too, again nothing major just colds, coughs, sickness bugs all the usual when they start Nursery and then I got a few sickness bugs too so all in all it was a very weary end to the year. Anyway enough of my excuses I've missed chatting and would like to come back.

I hope everyone is ok? I can't possibly catch up but hope everyone had a good Christmas break? CSWS how are you doing? Feeling good I hope. I've seen lots of pics on fb and the babies are all looking gorgeous and not really like babies anymore. Jack's walking now which is great. Star- he won't always hold hands but in strange places will if he feels like it. We put him on reins for the first time last weekend in Ikea which worked quite well.

I've just ordered the book 'Toddler Taming', my angel seems to have a dark side to him. We've had tantrums a bit of hair pulling, a few bites and lots of laughing at no. I'm hoping it's all normal and if not for it all to be solved by another book

50ftQueenie · 13/01/2010 22:12

I have had a busy day with a pickle of a girl who refused to sleep until late this afternoon!

CSWS - The poo situation sounds very familiar. I think M is dairy intolerant. She only did one poo today, this evening & that was a proper one. She hasn't had dairy at all for about 5 days so it makes sense. Cheers for the info.

Myjob - You need to do some work strengthening your ankles before you consider running again. Gymnasts often end up with weak ankles so you need to do some weight bearing exercise and get doing some fast walking to build them up. But NOT until you're better. I really think you should go to the doctor which I have been saying for weeks now! Maybe you'll listen to Ronshar because she is scarier than me.

Star - Ha ha ha ha! Not a chance in hell will M let me hold her hand! She throws her arm around and shouts at me if I try to hold her when we're out. It's a nightmare. In a way I'm glad of the snow as it means she's restricted to the push chair for now. When I did let her walk some of the way to school to collect DS, she stopped to look at some window cleaners for about 2 minutes. She refused to move. Does Q pull his arm away and then pull it all the way across his body, as far from you as possible, so you can't get it again?

Pistachio - I have days like that too. Normally it's PMT for me. M has been a bit neglected today but that's because a) she was over-tired and b) her lack of nap meant no time to sort stuff out. So she just had to put up with no attention while I got on with things. I had a snotty, red-faced screaming shadow for most of the early afternoon until she finally gave in and asked to go for a walk. Yes, you are the adult, but you are human and have feelings that can;t just be switched off. Go easy on yourself.

I am going to Bluewater with my brother tomorrow but CAN'T SHOP! It's going to be torture......

50ftQueenie · 13/01/2010 22:15

Hello Rachie!!! Lovely to see you again. I am loving J's red coat in your new pictures. Very smart!

RachieW · 13/01/2010 22:19

Hello 50ft!! Thank you, it's from good old Next. I had to have it as soon as I saw it . Is M talking lots now? J is mainly babbling some of which sounds like real words. Typically the only words he can say properly are Dada and no.

50ftQueenie · 13/01/2010 22:22

M is talking loads! She is the second most chatty baby/toddler on the thread. The crown belongs to Jenwa's P who has an amazing vocab! It is mainly stuff that only DH & I can understand but she's making herself very clear. She has a new one - Ninny, it means Granny. So how are you now?

Hi Pistachio

Wow 50ft am very impressed at lots of talking. I can't imagine Jack actually talking properly. People keep telling me boys can be slow talkers so we'll wait and see. Oh sometimes he says naarna too for banana I've realised that everything with J is totally on his terms he's quite willful independant

I'm fine now thanks, no illnesses at the moment and feeling a bit more in control of work having survived a whole term in Nursery. Plus on Friday it will be only 4 weeks to half term Now if the snow could just go away so that driving was less hairy I'd be a totally happy lady!

50ftQueenie · 13/01/2010 22:36

Well, I've got a driving lesson.... tomorrow..... in the ice! It's only my third and my last one was about 7 weeks ago! I'm not happy! And don't remind me that half term is only 4 weeks away. I'm 33 on the 15th Feb.

RachieW · 13/01/2010 22:40

33 is very young, I am 33 this year too. We are still practically teenagers! Good luck with the driving lesson, I don't envy you learning at the moment. I spend every drive to work at the moment hyperventilating, could you delay it until the big thaw?

Now I'm back I want to chat all night but am dragging myself to bed as it's work tomo and my little alarm clock that is J will be wailing for milk at 6am. Night night.

CantSleepWontSleep · 13/01/2010 22:41

Welcome back Rachie!
I'm good thanks. Wouldn't know I am pregnant at the moment tbh, so was glad to hear the heartbeat this week to confirm that I still am .

I don't automatically see when people load photos to fb, as my feed is set to status updates rather than news, so you must all be sure to mention when you load good ones!

Dd would never hold my hand and would tantrum too much in reins to make there be any point in using them star, but ds is a bit more co-operative when he wants to be. We don't do a lot of walking outside mind, so it's not like he gets tonnes of opportunity anyway.

I bought Toddler Taming when dd was younger Rachie. I haven't read much of it though. I'm sure that there was one specific thing I wanted to read about it in, but can't for the life of me remember what it was.

Well we nearly bought a car today, but the dealership is being very tight about the part ex value of our A4 Cabriolet, so we're currently at stalemate with them. I'm pissed off that they would lose a £30k sale for the sake of £300 (the difference between what they are offering for part ex and the minimum that we were prepared to accept), but then again we don't want to lose the perfect car for us for the sake of £300 either! If it was early spring then we'd just sell the car ourselves privately (for a couple of grand more than the part ex value), but a snow filled January isn't the ideal time to sell a cabriolet!!

Welcome back Rachie Did you know we have two ladies in a certain condition AGAIN?

Myjob, I am not being scary. I save that for 50ft as she can be a very naughty girl. But I do think you should go to the doctors. Write down everything you can think of that isnt right with you. Even if it seems small or silly. Then read out list to the DR. Big black bags can also be a sign of food intolerance, liver problems and something else that I cant remember. I am not trying to worry you but I want you to stop brushing these things off as just being tired etc.

50ft. Good luck with the non shopping. Are you allowed to buy lunch? Have a Leon Brownie to make up for it

Star how is Q today. He sounds a bit better. Did DH make it home ok?

Pistachio, children just make you think they cant survive without you, usually when they want something!

CSWS I forgot to say how great that you got to hear your babies heartbeat. Woll you be taking DD to the scan? Will she like that? DD1 came with us to the 20 week scan for DD2. But following the MMC we didnt take the girls for any scans for W. Too scared ourselves in case of bad news.

More snow today and no school. Ridiculous.

ronshar · 13/01/2010 22:48

CSWS what car are you going for? Is it the landy?

Yes ronshar, a lovely red landy .

And yes to taking dd to the 20wk scan. She wants to come, so we have booked it for a non-school time.

OP posts:
ronshar · 13/01/2010 22:57

Young lady you didnt tell us that when we were encouraging you to go running[grr]
Why wont a doctor help? Is it not worth going for a check up anyway?

ronshar · 13/01/2010 22:57

CSWS. my favourite colour as well.

Myjob - You don't know until you go a see a doctor. PLEASE go! Even it's just so you can come back on here and say 'right I've been now stop nagging'. I have dodgy ankles from ballet when I was young but they're not too bad. They do click when I run down stairs though.

Ronshar - see, now you have to be scary to Myjob too as she was naughty about the ankles I won't be having a brownie, but nice idea. I have been a super good diet girl and have lost some weight so don't want to ruin it by eating delicious cake. Oh God, I'm really hungry now!

Oh and Star - When I tired some reigns on DS he tried to run away, realised he couldn't then he hung forwards like a puppet, screaming his lungs out, then tried to reach out to grab things to pull himself away and when none of the above worked he rolled around on the floor screaming. Needless to say, I didn't buy the reigns.

StarExpat · 14/01/2010 08:55

ugh I'm drowning in work. snow days and Q's sick days have really made things behind! Q is doing better. Still bad cough and not 100% but much much better.

I'm good thank you.
Ds seems a bit calmer the last couple of days (still having dairy), we have our new playroom storage all set up, and dd is back at school, so all is well!
