Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
StarExpat · 12/01/2010 20:47

you're right, csws. sorry for that. I don't know why I assumed they'd have vaccines for all types of meningitis.

I know what you're saying, pistachio. I was just scared and shocked by a lot there. Especially being in that room, and seeing so much. frightening.

50ftQueenie · 12/01/2010 20:49

Here you go Star. There are a few different types of meningitis. The website is informative.

CSWS - If it's not too much yuck, what are D's nappies like? Just want to compare notes......

Thanks, 50ft. If you're interested... Q's nappies are runny and green. With little chickpea and green pea chunks (only the few he can swallow at the moment before he gives up and demands purees). mmmm I hope no one is eating.... It sounds like an explosion coming out of his bum and this evening he actually jumped back when it happened... almost comical

I know, I was just watching everything and thinking thinking thinking "did we get the meningitis jab yet?" and I couldn't remember... and while awaiting the results and watching the paed and nurse press on his marks with different objects every half hour or so, I just would have never forgiven myself if he had it because I hadn't vaccinated him. But I also now realize (with a clearer head) that's a bit silly.

StarExpat · 12/01/2010 21:01

thinking (just once was intended... ).

CantSleepWontSleep · 12/01/2010 21:02

It's ok star!

50ft - well it's strange - he normally poos a couple of times a day, but he's gone an odd day without pooing at all, or just one big one, and other days he's pooed 4 or 5 times. He's also had much worse wind than usual, which keeps making us think that he's pooed when he hasn't.
Then those that he has done have been getting runnier, and bittier (a bit like they can be when teething) and today more mucousy too, which is a classic intolerance sign (as is frothy if you've had any of that).
But I really don't want to cut it out again when I'm so restricted anyway with the GD !
On the bright side, dd's tummy may not be 100%, so it might be something affecting them both, and totally unrelated to dairy .

Dh gone to a diff Ikea tonight to pick up the playroom storage unit . Though who knows when he'll get round to building it.

I would have a super early night (and maybe read my book for a bit), but Ocado are due between 10 and 11, and they often turn up early, so I need to stay up until either they arrive or dh gets back.

Ekka · 12/01/2010 21:54

CSWS, could you maybe remove it from his direct diet but leave it in yours? On the basis that although he would then be getting exposure, it may be more, errr, diluted? If I was still bf M thats probably the way I would have tried re-introducing dairy, though not sure whether my reasoning is really correct .

Star, I remember when we took M into the hospital (not A&E) there was a little boy in the bed next to us, who would stop breathing when he cried. But go blue and floppy and need oxygen and stuff to revive him. He was being treated for other things as well I believe, and his parents would apparently spend at least 1 night a week in the hospital with him . A&E must be even more frightening with the cases being so extreme there. It does make you so grateful for healthy children.

Honeymoonmummy · 12/01/2010 22:09

Hey all,

OMG Star, I've just read about what happened! How scary for you, i'm so glad it was just tonsilitis. I remember ice cream being really soothing when I had tonsilitis, perhaps you could make Q some ice lollies out of fruit juice? (Annabel Karmel has some recipes in her book)

50ft, sorry to hear about your friend's brother.

I've spent the whole day clearing my backlog of emails. Soooooo boring. There's a job going in London for a month but I'd have to stay there during the week and I wouldn't want to be away from Pops for that long.

Honeymoonmummy · 12/01/2010 22:36

Oh and thanks for the playdoh recipe!

StarExpat · 13/01/2010 10:12

Well, I made it to my friend's house (barely) this morning.... could not get up her hill - it took forever and slipping sliding everywhere. Road conditions today are worse than they were at any point last week and snow is only lightly falling! I couldn't keep Q there because it if gets worse or there's an emergency I might not be able to get to him. Lots of kids and staff out at school today - principal told me not to come in but stay home with Q another day. So here we are... but we left at 7am and returned at 9.30am. What a waste of time! DH drove his motorcycle to work against my every wish and demand! he's made it safely and then fell in the carpark. But is ok. I'm begging him to take a train home but as of 7.30am there were no trains headed toward london which is what he would need from where he is to get to us. Well, Q and I are safe and snug in our warm home No reason for complaints here

Myjob I hope you feel better soon I'm not giving the sf jab because it just seems like a bad flu.

Dh is coming home by train thank goodness. Our school is closing early (glad I stayed home - what was the point in opening?)

KSal · 13/01/2010 11:22

myjob if it helps, emma had hers yesterday and has been fine so far. perhaps feeling slightly sorry for herself yesterday afternoon, but on fine form.

StarExpat · 13/01/2010 11:27

I was just looking at Rachie's fb photos...
do your toddlers all hold your hand/finger when walking out and about? Because Q pretty much refuses unless I grab it for safety reasons or if we're on a moving sidewalk or something where he feels uneasy, then he'll hold on for dear life. Otherwise, he'll fight to walk all by himself . How do you get them to hold your hand without forcing it, then? her ds seems perfectly happy just walking along clutching a finger!!

Myjob. Please go to your doctor. If a HV is telling you that you look poorly then you must be looking less than your usual gorgeous. It isnt right that you still have this cold and are feeling so rubbish. You eat fantastically well. So why are you so run down?? I dont understand.
