We caved on the price of the car , as they wouldn't budge at all, but at least it's ours (pending a quick phone call to the dealership branch that actually has it). Here it is (expect they'll take it off the site later today).

Oops, forgot my in the last post!

Great news CSWS. I guess it fits all the seats easily enough! And it will be great if we have more weather like this. My dad has the disco 2 and is dreaming of the disco 4 (won't get one yet, but when his comes up for renewal he'll try and get a 2nd hand one). He likes to keep his cars for 10 yrs plus though...

Myjob, glad to hear you got a chance to put up your feet. I got both my two down for a nap today so had about 20 mins vegging on the sofa too (but I indulged in some chocolate - oops). It was bliss!!!!

Matthew's latest phrase is 'I fix it' as he comes over brandishing his wooden toolkit . He's pretty handy with a screwdriver I have to admit, though a bit lethal with his hammer!!!!

CantSleepWontSleep · 14/01/2010 16:36

It was sold to someone else this morning .

Aw BUGGER CSWS! That's crap! At least you have a good idea of what you want now though. Not that's a huge consolation really......

Myjob - Good news. Glad you're not falling apart and passed your MOT. Now make sure you get some rest, easier said than done I know but at least try.

Ronshar - It's pushing that blood push chair around in the snow! But I'm not going to tell you just how much I have lost or you'll tell me off. I don't look any different though.

Ekka - at the tool kit. M is far more interested in Grandad's tools than DS ever was. DS was more interested in my sparkly shoes.......

I survived my non-shopping trip to BW even when I saw a delicious Stella McCartney for Gap jumper (that I had been considering for M at full price) reduced from £40 to £12. I put it back on the rack....... I did get her some boots which was allowed as she hasn't been able to test her legs with all the snow. I also got some wool and some new knitting needles which DH paid for as he is impressed with my new hobby. M has now been out and tested her new boots. She only fell over a hundred few times and only ate a little bit of snow!

They are hard to come by in that colour pistachio, especially with those particular extras (the foot plate, privacy glass and towing equip), and having looked more this afternoon, at that price . If we'd realised that the price of the new one was so good yesterday we wouldn't have been quite so bothered about the part ex price.

Afternoon ladies, just jumping on here quickly while ds watches In The Night Garden and lets his tea go down before his bath.

Bugger about the car CSWS.

Very impressed with your non-shopping 50ft. Very restrained of you. So, what are you going to knit?

I was so glad not to be at work today. The last three days have been a nightmare as the kids haven't been allowed out to play (ridiculous IMO as it was slushy, not icy), so it was like having 25 caged animals in the classroom. Went into central London with S to meet a couple of friends for lunch which was lovely, but S didn't deal well with the journey home.

Myjob - Very good to hear that it's nothing serious. Can you have a lovely relaxing soak in the bath with a magazine once you've got the children in bed? Maybe also have a few really early nights to help get your strength back.

50ftQueenie · 14/01/2010 19:13

Oh yes Aubergenie I can imagine how awful it must be to have the children all stuck indoors. It was bad enough for me with just one! I am knitting a soaker as a nappy cover for M. I have had a practice run and now feel cocky confident enough to try it for real using the proper wool! It's a very simple pattern!

Pistachio - Maybe the new cake book will help you to have delicious cakes without the worry of the lard. The calorie table at the back is useful when deciding what to make as a conservative treat. The calories mainly come from sugar and seeing as you're so active, you should burn that off no problem.

StarExpat · 14/01/2010 19:42

Sorry about that csws, that's very unlucky

Myjob glad to hear you're ok. Just need to rest!

Q is doing better, but napping twice a day still. I think he's just sleeping off the illness. Today he napped 9-11.30 and then 1-3.15 Of course, I was at work for that...

I got my reports all done just one day late (only due to our editor yesterday anyway and they have 2 days so it's ok)... just because I never turn in anything anytime but days before it's due!

Pistachio glad you had a relaxing day The weight will go away on it's own. Stress makes it stay.

50ft congrats on the weight loss. Why would you get told off for losing weight??

StarExpat · 14/01/2010 19:50

I want that cake book!
aubergenie - our kids have been out to play every day. They built snowmen yesterday Why can't they go out?? The pavements were just cleared off for them on icy days...

50ft you must post pictures when you've finished. I htink knitting is so so so hard! You and myjob have my full respect for that!

50ftQueenie · 14/01/2010 20:09

Aww bless poor Q. He needs the sleep and at least he's sleeping while you're at work. I might get told off because I have lost a lot very quickly. It's only water weight I know, but it is far more than is recommended. I am being sensible though.

CSWS - Thanks for introducing DH to Firebox, he is currently ordering Plop Trumps, I will leave it to your imagination........

StarExpat · 14/01/2010 20:12

50ft, I guess as long as it doesn't keep up at that rate long term, it's ok, right?

aubergenie · 14/01/2010 20:31

Star - They weren't allowed out because the powers that be thought it was too cold/too dangerous apparently. It was slippery on Monday but it wasn't dangerous on Tuesday or Wednesday. Our school is massive and we've only got one caretaker so it would be a lot for him to clear on his own, but quite frankly I think a few broken legs would have been a small price to pay .

Aw, Q must really need that sleep to get himself back on form again.

RachieW · 14/01/2010 20:48

Evening all. CSWS glad to hear that you are feeling good and not suffering any pregnancy symptoms. To be honest although I don't feel ready for another baby yet I'm also put off by the fact I spent all of my pregnancy feeling sick. I'm not sure how I'd cope with that and J at the moment.

I didn't know we had another lady in the same condition as Ronshar put it. Who is it? This is very exciting!

Hello Star I hope Q gets better soon. J had slapped cheek before Christmas and slept loads and loads, even in his cot in the day which is very for him. He just didn't have the energy to be awake really but he's all back to normal now and fighting naps as usual.

Myjob- glad nothing is wrong, though I imagine exhaustion is horrible. Can you have a medicinal wine before bed to help you relax?

Well only one day til the weekend, yippee! We've been struggling with the snow too Aubergenie, we couldn't let the Nursery children out once the snow went icy and keeping 25 3yr olds entertained in one room for 3 hours is not easy!

CantSleepWontSleep · 14/01/2010 20:57

Oh slapped cheek can be horrid can't it Rachie. Ds was really really ill with it when he was only a few weeks/months old.

Heather is the other person with the same affliction .

OP posts:
RachieW · 14/01/2010 21:05

It was CSWS- to be honest to start with I didn't think much of it as the Dr said it was just like a bad cold which it was but he was ill for 9 days in the end. He was so clingy and sad, he'd play and then cry for ages and just need cuddles. It wasn't until Boxing Day that he got better. Still at least it's one illness to cross off the list!

Congrats Heather!

Slapped Cheek sounds awful!
Rachie - Q usually naps about 3 hours at midday still, and doesn't fight that - he needs it, but usually isn't ready for it until earliest 10.45/11am. I wonder how long it will last....

I've been sneakily looking at some childminders near where I work for next year. The two I'm looking at are in the same area (within a 5 minute drive) and one has 1 other mindee of 2 years old and the other has 2 other mindees, both over 5. So I don't think that sounds like Q would be among too many kids or too high of a ratio... I've messaged them both (had to join that childcare.co.uk website that was previously free, though to get their info ).

aubergenie · 14/01/2010 21:07

Oh Rachie - Being stuck in a room with 25 3-year olds really would be my idea of hell. Welcome back by the way! How are you enjoying nursery? Do you feel like you'd like to stay down there now that you're more used to it or are you hankering to get back to KS2?

tsk tsk to evening snacking!

I have to admit that I love the cuddles I get from Q when he's ill or when he's bumped something
Since he's been ill he'll just crawl up into my lap and put his head on my chest or shoulder, tuck his hands in and snuggle up. I just love it! Well, I didn't love it when we couldn't wake him at all... that was just scary. But I like the nice cuddles. He finally "gets it" at bedtime, too.. has done for a few weeks now. So when it's time for him to go into his cot (7pm) and we're in the bedroom, he cuddles up to me really close and tries to give me the nicest cuddle so I won't put him down... it generally works, too! I'll stand there and just cuddle with him for about 5 minutes before I put him down.
I really didn't like the phase just before this when he didn't want to be held close like that unless he was being fed or asleep.

RachieW · 14/01/2010 21:20

Wow to a 3 hour sleep Star! We're lucky to get an hour at a time, he usually has an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening. I can't complain though as he does sleep from 7.30pm ish to around 6.30am ish so we are quite lucky I think.

I'm really enjoying Nursery thanks Aubergenie and would like to do at least another year. I miss the banter I had with KS2 but you just see the little ones develop so quickly and they are very funny. I do spend lots of time repeating myself which is quite frustrating but then this afternoon I got to play with dinosaurs in the sand and speak in a stupid dinosaur voice which was good fun. It's like being a child again somedays.

Pistachio- DD's Nursery sounds nice and spacious. We try to go out everyday unless it is icy or torrental rain. We have a shelter but it's only an overhead cover so if it's windy and rainy you still get soaked and this week it's been too cold to do much out there. They really need the time to run around, especially as most of our children live in flats and have no gardens. Roll on summer

50ft how was driving?

50ftQueenie · 14/01/2010 21:20

Ok, I haven't weighed myself since Monday but last week I lost...... 12lbs But it will only be water weight, plus I was sick......

StarExpat · 14/01/2010 21:23

Wow! I want you to tell us how you did that right this minute! Every detail and don't leave any out. 12lbs in one week? Come on, tell.
