I am so blessed to be part of this group. We are starting another year together, our 3rd but who's counting. May you each have a happy and healthy one. I look forward to more meetups, more FBing, more Skyping, more Waving, more crazy tales, more laughter, more hand holding, and more support than is humanly possible! XOX

Morning all, happy new year and that. We celebrated by doing some scratchcards and going to bed at 11pm DP won a tenner though so we're starting the new year £6 up!

libbyssister congratulations! What lovely news. Do feel free to come back/drop in/keep us updated, we all love a bit of vicarious pregnancy DP and I are getting married this year so am hoping to start trying for baby no.2 once that's out of the way. Baby no.1 is currently chewing the corners off two of my losing scratchcards so had better go.

HotterTheRedNosedReindeer · 01/01/2010 09:31

Morning all

Bugger on not winning loads of lotto cash cyteen, but being up even by £6 is a bonus so well done

Loti my 4-year old was a pain last night too - she got up and got into our bed while we were still downstairs i tried to put her back to bed when we went up but she woke and started yelling, so rather than wake DS too she was allowed to stay and DH slept in her bed. I woke up at 6 and couldn't get back to sleep so when DS started crying at half six I have kindly brought them both downstairs so DH could sleep on. All this on top of rather a lot of wine means I am flagging a bit now...

HotterTheRedNosedReindeer · 01/01/2010 09:39

LOL TS at giving up so close to midnight

Buckets sounds like you had a great night

Dizzy at knicker-burning. Oh I am partly blaming you for my fragile state today as you egged me on to keep drinking

libbysister congratulations!

oopsandbabycoconut · 01/01/2010 09:43

HAPPY NEW YEAR LOVELY LADIES!!

I lay in bed reading until 10ish then dosed on and off until DH came up at midnight. We chatted obout all sorts of things including how we are both actually scared of this baby, as much as he/she is wanted, we are both scared of how it will affect us,DD and everything. I know it will be fine but it was nice to voice my concerns and find he was feeling the same. Before we knew it it was 1am and I needed to sleep.

DD woke at 5 and DH settled her but as he got her done some twit decided to try and text the landline and failed, DH settled DD again and the phone went again, repeat afew more times and DD came in with us refused a feed asked for 'nilk in tup' and then thankfully went back to sleep until 8.30. We are now all in bed eating shreddies drinking the milk out of the bowls

Sorry to hear of your disturbed nights LOTI and Hotter.

Cyteen - coffee's on you?

dizzycringles · 01/01/2010 10:18

oh dear oops I hope you at least know who it was so you can give them an earful

MORNING HOTS!!! SHALL I TAKE OF MY SHOUTY VOICE

buckets funnily enough I watched Cranford last night and was wondering which one I was most like!

morning and Happy New Year to you all

lwfhthevampireslayer · 01/01/2010 10:49

Happy new year. Yawn again. oops do you think that your DD refusing BF is to do with your supply going down for pregnancy?

TwilightSurfer · 01/01/2010 12:44

Morning and a properly Happy New Year to all.

Both the girls are up at 7a. I'm fine with that. Might as well get things back to normal since school is back in session in 6 days.

Will be running shortly. I refuse to go out while it's still dark because it's so cold. Not that the sun up will help but it will give me the illusion of warmth.

Sounds like we each had fair Eve's.

Reese has brought in the year properly with a massive stink so I will exit now to attend to the poo.

well, the bracing walk to the park, which was my great idea, taking the new bike and letting DD2 have DD1's old bike was a roaring success the wind that comes in off the north sea about cut us in half, the girls wouldn't couldn't got their bikes due to the 4inch thick sheet ice and even the fecking dog looked miserable

home for hot chocolate with marshmallows, pizza and a play on the wii for the afternoon - to top that DH brought in a parcel from the shed which was my delivery from the white company including my new inuit slipper boots - ah, bliss

SazzlesOnASled · 01/01/2010 14:13

Lovely afternoon yesterday, bowling and then kids into the soft play bit so we could have a drink and a natter (inspired plan by me ). Then wonderful evening and even the DC's all disappeared off to bed fairly easily and we continued with champers and delcious food . A bit but i peaked a tad early and fell asleep on the sofa. Not the most wonderful hostess style .

I do have to say though that this saved me from any hangover whilst DH slept till 11 [lazy git]. DD2 woke at 7.50 and DD1 at 8.30 so pretty decent all round. Sorry to hear of those of you with disturbed nights . We had DD1 on her 'beddy' (an inflatable camping bed) in our room and she slept like a dream

We have been for a lovely walk this morning in the sunshine and scoffed leftovers for lunch. Visitors all gone, so fire lit and a film about to be started

Oh and many congrats Libby. A new decade baby, just lovely

SazzlesOnASled · 01/01/2010 15:04

Film delayed as DH asleep. Again

However this gives me a huge amount of ammunition for a loooooong lie in tomorrow

cyteen · 01/01/2010 15:25

Maybe your DH has stolen my DS's nap then Sazz, as he has resolutely refused one and is all over the place as a result.

SazzlesOnASled · 01/01/2010 15:33

I think he has had enough for all the Aug08 babes . DD2 just moving from 2 to 1 nap a day so is often conking out at 11. She did today in her pushchair during our walk and missed lunch. Hers has been a banana and two yoghurts

oopsandbabycoconut · 01/01/2010 16:35

Afternoon/evening all

We spontaneously jumped in the car and headed to Weston-super-mud for a long beachy walk and fish and chips. DD's face was a picture as we let her out the car and said 'off you go' - no pushchair, no reins and no backpack. She loved the beach and we took her to the little seaquarium where she spent a long time barking at the dogfish and trying to chase a fish apparently named Ray? ? We told her the fish types and we wondered around calling them. It was great to be out in the fresh air.

Sazz - DD is down to 1 nap too and often has to have a late lunch.

dizzycringles · 01/01/2010 16:55

DD3 has been down to one nap for ages

cyteen · 01/01/2010 18:52

Yeah, DS has been a one nap man for some time now. Except today, obviously He'd better not be starting the year as he means to go on, we've aged ten years over the course of today.

TwilightSurfer · 01/01/2010 19:35

Reese has been a one napper for months now too. On a rare occasion if her real nap is cut short she'll catnap a bit before dinner...but that's really really rare.

oopsandbabycoconut · 01/01/2010 19:55

I forgot to answer LWFH's question - yes I think she is refusing because my supply is really low again, we went through a few weeks of good supply and she was getting the yummy colostrum so fed willingly now it's just too much hard work for very little reward, a bit of comfort sucking to calm her and then her favorite phrase 'nilk tup yummy' and won't settle until she has had her milk.

pertelote · 01/01/2010 21:02

Aww bless her Oops. DD refers to cow's milk as 'miwk.... cooooold!' (with conventional sign for milk plus a dramatic shiver ) and breastfeeding is now 'ba-beee miwk'. She is feeding a lot at the mo, we were down to just bedtime but either because of her cold or just because I'm here all day every day she wants more. She's sneaking in a second mini nap too.

I haven't wished you all a happy new year - hope it is a great one for you all. I have been very emotional in recent days thinking about what 2009 included for us, even though most of the worry was over in the first half of the year and since then most things have been rosy: but as ever when I think of that time the memory of the Aug08ers' support and generosity is one of many things that makes the tears well up. Bless you all.

cyteen · 01/01/2010 21:07

So as a rough generalisation, it seems like the Aug08 girl babies are leading the chatty pack, with the boys content to grunt, point and yell till they get their way? Plus ca change...

pertelote many happy new year wishes to the three of you also. I'm just glad we could be there to hold you up during a hard time. You must look at M's little face every day and marvel that she's so blissfully unaware of all the tears and worry over what might be

Sazz I hope you are soaking in a bath right now. DS conked out the very second I put him in bed, poor little mite, then DP fell asleep on the sofa and has now adjourned to bed, where I will shortly be joining him once I've finished troughing cheese+crackers and perving over wedding gowns

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 01/01/2010 21:08

Happy New Year Everyone.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

oopsandbabycoconut · 01/01/2010 21:14

Hi No1 - have been thinking of you wondering how you all are.

Pert - you have had a tough year but now you can look forward to 2010 with little M going from strength to strength.

Cyteen - share you wedding dress porn

cyteen · 01/01/2010 21:18

lol, well I'm a great admirer of Rock'N'Roll Bride and anywhere that will show me awesome unusual dresses, since I'm not really the trad gown type, but I have just discovered there's a shop in my town called Brides Hut Think I might have to pop in just for the experience.

Am staying away from Ian Stuart's website since I love love love his dramatic, unusual massively expensive wedding dresses. It's looking like Vivien of Holloway for me, £6 scratchcard profit notwithstanding.

Hello no1 Happy new year to you ducks x

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 01/01/2010 21:22

sorry Xpost. pertelote what a year you have had.
Big mixed bag of emotions for all of you.
M has gone from strength to strength hasn't she? and I echo what cyteen just said.

oops thanks so much for the ss gift. However they smell far too good to use so are on my window sill in the bathroom and dd has to sniff them every morning, and every morning she says 'It's chocolate mummy, but I can't eat it'

PoinsettiaBouquets · 01/01/2010 21:35

Oops I felt all slushy when you said about your talk with DH, how romantic staying up chatting. Stuff like that is great because it stores up like a battery and helps you through the tougher times.

Sazz LOL at passing out falling asleep, that's why my party shift system worked. Half past ten I staggered home and fell asleep on the sofa very happy indeed and none of my fellow partygoers had to see.

Had brilliant afternoon. 3 families (14 people!) turned up for our hangover party and stayed all afternoon. It was a real mixer as we don't know 2 of them that well and was great to hook everyone up. One couple are classical musos so we got the ukes out and taught them a bit! Really pleased with ourselves as we don't do much co-hosting, usually have v separate friends, so it's nice to know we can do it. Esp as our street is apparently full of such fun people, will make more effort in 2010.

Have to admit out loud that Kurt is refusing a morning nap now. Slept 3hrs after lunch though with umpteen kids roaring about so not too bad.

So did anyone else cry at the end of Dr Who or was it just me bawling?

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 01/01/2010 21:44

buckets could I be nosey and ask what kind of recording equipment you have?

I am looking for a small studio preferably an 8 track. Possibly one that writes straight to cd too.Have seen a few, but thought I would ask what set up you and dh use.
