I am so blessed to be part of this group. We are starting another year together, our 3rd but who's counting. May you each have a happy and healthy one. I look forward to more meetups, more FBing, more Skyping, more Waving, more crazy tales, more laughter, more hand holding, and more support than is humanly possible! XOX

Also anyone know anything about digital Piano.
I am sure ann said she was thinking about teaching so maybe she would know.
Or vg sure she mentioned her ds1 having lessons too.

PoinsettiaBouquets · 01/01/2010 21:56

Dunno, 4track I think but it's all pretty ancient sourced 2nd hand off Ebay. Apparently though all you need is a Mac as it comes with Band-somethingorother software. I could see DH drooling when one of the dads today was telling him about it but we just don't have the £600.

pertelote · 01/01/2010 22:30

Your parties sound fun Buckets. Seems like so long since we hosted anyone except family ... Maybe that's my new year's resolution too.

Right, fairy lights have switched off, must be bedtime. Sweet dreams all.

cyteen · 02/01/2010 09:16

Can someone indulge me and tell me what their Aug08 baby has for breakfast? I'm wondering if DS is normal in the amount he eats or just a massive biffer. Today is fairly standard:

wake up grumpy and remain grumpy until provided with pre-breakfast tangerine

go downstairs, have bowl of shreddies, yoghurt, another tangerine

steal a piece of mummy's bagel

wander around moaning until provided with a pitta bread full of cream cheese

In fact, if anyone can reassure me that constant low-level grumping and destruction is normal at this age, that would be great, cheers.

pertelote · 02/01/2010 09:45

Cyteen low-level grumping and destruction is certainly normal here, though DD doesn't quite have the attention span for a breakfast like J's! On the other hand it is quite usual ATM for her to BF for an hour and yell her head off if anyone suggests otherwise. Since she's waking at 6 I'm tending to indulge this preference. Breakfast is then a weetabix and maybe half a slice of toast. That more or less keeps her going until banana at 10ish. It's not that much compared to J but maybe he is running around more/having a growth spurt? She certainly has weeks where she seems to need food about every 10 minutes...

dizzycringles · 02/01/2010 11:16

cyteen D eats a bowl of mini weetabix or oatybix thingies with apple and raisins, some toast/yogurt etc if she's not to busy torturing her sisters by then and then normally mooches off either DD1 or us

low level grumping, destructions and flailing tempertantrums all on display here [sigh]

agree with pertelote - possible growth spurt and by next week he may well turn his nose up at all foodstuff leaving you in a state of alarm over lack of appetite - they're certainly sent to try us

bloody freezing here today and hailstones as big as cricket balls now - am sitting down here hoping that I didn't open the girls window too wide [meep]

CaptainCaveman · 02/01/2010 12:53

Afternoon ladies, whizzing by to say we're off to Market Rasen for the night, to stay with friends. DS's off to grandparents .

Snowing here, quite heavy at times but not sufficient to halt the travel plans . We were meant to go on Monday just gone but I was too poorly, as was O.

Anyway, hope 2010 is so far so good?

Congrats to libbysister on your fab news! I've given up all hope of dc3 as dh says "no way". Ho hum.

PoinsettiaBouquets · 02/01/2010 13:12

Aha more holiday planning here, I feel like TS. After our hideous Butlins 2008 experience c/o tokens from The Sun, I vowed never again. However, just got this year's leaflet through today though and am now thinking we could stay in a nice warm caravan in Scotland and Cornwall too, rather than buy a tent. Some of the caravan parks look not too chavvy and do a 7night break for £70ish. Have to read The Sun for a week though.

Kurt's not a huge eater, just has a slice of toast and jam or bowl of damp cornflakes for breakfast. And a choc biccie this am. And chips for lunch as we took just the boys swimming this am (he was not impressed). One day I will start cooking vegetables again but I am still stuck in the party season.

lwfhthevampireslayer · 02/01/2010 13:33

Buckets - we used to go here when I was a kid.

www.bos.othona.org/index.htm

I'm not sure whether it has changed, but from what I can remember lots of space to explore, plus a beach and swimming, plus lots of singing and music.

It is Christian - with a beautiful old chapel but not very holy or religious.

Prices look more than 70 for a week, but I think that your whole family would stay for under 400 pounds for the week including all meals, which I think is still fairly good for the middle of summer?

SazzlesOnASled · 02/01/2010 13:53

cyteen DD2 usually has a bowl of Special K or porridge which is a small adult size and then 1/2-1 slice of toast and marmite. Usually then nothing till lunch. However i remember with growth spurts with DD1 she ate masses. In fact for lunch today she had a round of cheese sandwiches, tomato, cucumber, rocket, some sliced chorizo, slice of ham, 2 satsumas, a chocolate snowman and a cup of tea. And was on the lookout for more .
With the whining i usually find that a few days later, something will show itself to explain all, either a tooth, an illness or an obvious spurt. My nephew actually used to get growing pains in his legs so i expect it does exhaust them in some way. Other than that, i would say getting enough sleep is key to reducing grumpiness

Had a lie in till 10, been to the post office, made lunch and now marinating salmon and making babaganoush for dinner this evening as friends coming over to play wii and cards etc

No snow here, so off to take the dd's swimming once they wake

3 days till i return to work

cyteen · 02/01/2010 13:59

I feel a bit guilty for moaning now as he's actually been rather lovely today Just a bit noisy That's an interesting point about growing pains Sazz - I had dreadful pains in my legs on and off until I was nearly 20 and a succession of doctors put it down to growing pains, so maybe he'll get them too ().

TwilightSurfer · 02/01/2010 14:09

Morning. It's snowing. Just a dusty snow but nice. Having some tomato soup in the hopes it will warm me enough to go try out my new shoes OUTSIDE. Amazing what a little focus on the inside of the house can do. I went through ALL the clean clothes yesterday. Redid drawers etc etc etc.

Breakfast for Reese varies but normally it's JUICE immediately. She's like a cranky office worker demanding coffee. So orange juice and a slice of toast. Then a cheese stick. Maybe a banana or an apple. She usually unearths a cracker from somewhere. The little one is soooooo particular and will turn her nose up in a split second if the food isn't exactly how she wants it. Long gone are the days of the happy eater of everything.

Hi All

A little dusting of snow here this morning but gone now.

DD eats a small adult portion of raisin wheats or shreddies or porridge and has a 6/7oz beaker of milk then will scavenge anything she can from whoever else is eating, she has a piece of fruit/fruitbar smoothie at 11ish then will eat whatever we do for lunch - today she ate a Nandos kiddies burger a whole corn on the cob some of DH's coleslaw, a glass of water then she ate 2 humzingers on the way back to the car. She now wants a 'nanany' and 'nilk tup' then will eat a huge supper (last night it was 2 weetabix and a banana) before downing 7-9oz before bed.

We bought a new backpack to carry her in whilst on holiday it is so comfy compared to the old one.

Now we are all going to snuggle down and read some stories and DD will make us copious cups of 'tea'.

oopsandbabycoconut · 02/01/2010 15:13

Sazz - how did that happen? Only 3 days, where did the time go?

cyteen · 02/01/2010 20:29
oopsandbabycoconut · 02/01/2010 20:31

I thought I scared everyone away - you still there Cyteen?

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 02/01/2010 20:35
Grin
oopsandbabycoconut · 02/01/2010 20:36

see you are all just like busses - wait ages for one and 2 turn up

cyteen · 02/01/2010 20:36

Look at us all, lurking on our own thread. For shame!

oopsandbabycoconut · 02/01/2010 20:41

I didn't want to look like a saddo here on my own whilst you were all off having lives!

DH's manflu has returned and he is lying on the sofa after having 2 (yes 2) baths to warm up this afternoon, each lastin at least 45 mins and involving book reading. He then napped between baths as they tired him out DD and I have cooked a roast, tidied toys, booked holiday accommodation, watched Peppa Pig, done 3 loads of washing - and he is still dying on the sofa.

oopsandbabycoconut · 02/01/2010 20:42

Oh I do do him a injustice - he did get up once........ to go to Morrisions to get some cough medicine for his poorly cough and throat. No milk bought, no bread, nothing for lunch tomorrow.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 02/01/2010 20:43

Men eh?

HotterTheRedNosedReindeer · 02/01/2010 20:45

Hello

I have just come downstairs to avoid lamping DD and sent DH up to knock her out make her go to sleep. She was so tired after friends slept over last night that we let her have a little nap this afternoon. BIG BIG BIG mistake as although she is sleepy she's not sleepy enough to conk out and she is really fighting it

I just want to watch Doctor Who

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 02/01/2010 20:49

Oh dear hotter I kept both mine awake today, as I was desperate for them to go to bed early and easily.

Hope she settles soon.

We have more snow.

HotterTheRedNosedReindeer · 02/01/2010 20:49

Ooh he's back, maybe she's asleep

Oops your DH sounds like he is sometimes wonderful and sometimes twit.I hope the wonderfulness is in the majority

Suppose I ought to stop using the festive smileys, although the decs still up and not coming down till Tuesday
