Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

at everyone. Utterly shattered as Tamara decided to have temper tantrums every 1.5 hours through the night last night. No apparent reason. Not happy with her today...anyone fancy adopting a bloody-minded 2 year old until she's nicer?

Simpson - great news on the development/physio 'release'!! Well done M, hope she's feeling better soon.

Gingeme - having seen you in action, I'd say your dh has a point (although he was pretty good with kids too!!). You'd be great as a midwife...go for it

Brain a blank again, sorry. Nicky, apologies - I may have to work on 3rd March now...trying to get out of it but its a big customer presentation/training session and its mostly my products and services being covered....

simpson · 11/02/2010 11:06

Hi all

Have to be quick as have to go and get M from playgroup in a mo...

No tears again at drop off so think we may have cracked it

Nothing major to report here, ticking along nicely although M is a "challenge" atm to say the least

Hi to all....

LaT - any news???

simpson · 11/02/2010 12:13

M has just come back from playgroup with her first painting

gingeme · 11/02/2010 13:01

Ah Simpson its lovely isnt it when they bring a bit of art work home makes it all worth while.
Argh mixedmamma how frustrating for you and theres me wanting to go back to work
LaT ?
Well I have just been and picked up my new glasses. Only for reading and the pc and my iphone so I guess Ill be wearing them lots then
DH and I have just had a toy sort out. Didnt do too bad. Just got to sort out the books next. Thats going to be a big job !
Well time for some lunch me thinks.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 11/02/2010 13:39

Haha Gingeme... I am over it now as am having a reasonably busy day. I think the thing is I have decided to change career so every day is another day in the career I dont want. But tantrum over

I cannot sort out books, well I can organise them nicely but could NEVER get rid of any...I love books. The kids actually have to have their own bookshelf and it is 3 long shelves and completely full. How many years before they read Roald Dahl I hear you ask yet yes we have the collection - although S and I have read Fantastic Mr Fox together, not to mentioned the Dead Famous Series. And my book shelf.... well I just can not bear to part with any.

Well done on the toys though. My SIL is insiting on getting a drum kit for DS1 for his birthday - perhaps it can sit on my head.

LaTrucha · 11/02/2010 13:46

Thankyou for remembering ladies!

Tired (DD screaming her head off in the night too here) and emotional but all is FINE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Consultant approved VBAC under sertain conditions. On the upside, I have to have scans every 4 weeks from 28 weeks and he will let me go overdue and if I do I can decide about an induction or an elective c-section. On the downside, I will have to go into hospital as soon as labour starts and they will only let me have established labour for 6-8 hours which seems like a very short time. I would really like to do this one under my own steam but I do just have to bear in mind that we were so lucky that me and DD were fine last time and that is the end objective.

Ok ladies, talk to me about ....

BOYS!

because it seems I know need to know!

TBH, I thought it was a girl but that I wanted a boy. Now I know it's a boy, I'm missing my 'girl' . I had visions of two little ladies holding hands in the park etc. I will get used to the idea. I am really so grateful that he is ok (HE!) DH is much the same as me. I know he's delighted that he is healthy and that it's a boy, but it was him who came up with the 'holding hands' image. So we may yet go for DC number three!

Hip Hip Hoooray!

Lilyloo · 11/02/2010 13:54

Massive congrats LaT on your great news 'a son' fab fab fab. Little boys are lovely

willsurvivethis · 11/02/2010 13:58

LaT what brilliant news - so glad all is well xxx

Ooh boys - well the only thing you really need to know is willy down in the nappy other than that they tend to eat sleep and pooh . Oh and they can wee in your face if you are not quick enough changing nappies. Or in their own face adn get really indignant at being wet again (and then again being washed).

Relax now if you can - you will feel shattered x

fillybuster · 11/02/2010 14:26

LaT, brilliant news!!! So glad that everything is fine, and I'd just like to say that BOYS ARE GREAT!! Am sure gingeme will agree with me when she surfaces from her toy and book-sorting, and she should know!

WST has covered the only thing you really need to know before the age of about 3: its amazing how far (and in what directions!) the wee can go when a willy is left uncovered for even a split second during a nappy change! After 2, the best thing (related) is that toilet training is so much easier due to the ability to whip down trousers and wee against the nearest tree/lampost/wall/dog/goat/random object in an instand . Not so with girls, as I am learning...

And (ime) boys seem to be a lot more chilled and eager to please - or, at least, a bit less bloody-minded!!

Fab...enjoy...the best thing is seeing mine (one of each) walking along hand in hand, or engrossed in play together, so you should still get all of that. And Sabela will love mothering/bossing her little brother

LuckySalem · 11/02/2010 14:44

Congrats on your news LaT!!

If you wanna talk VBAC come find me on FB as I've been arguing with my MWs over the "rules" of a VBAC!! lol

Great news about M simps If it helps, DD has trouble with stairs too. She HAS to hold my hand.

Panic attack on Sunday night as I went into hospital with what they thought was early labour. They've put it down to dehydration now instead lol. Been shopping today to get the stuff for my hospital bag as they scare has proven to me that i'm not ready neither practically or emotionally! lol

Anyways....... sorry for those i've missed!! HUGS ALL AROUND

mixedmamameansbusiness · 11/02/2010 16:24

LaT - CONGRATS. Nothing to add to the boys thing other than I love having two boys and am strangley rather scared at the prospect of having a little girl. My boys are very protective and I love that although that is probably true about children and their mummys in general. They are both also very different and have been since the moment they were born, E much like the determined little girls mentioned on here and S very very laid back and calm almost always.

Soooooooooo excited for you now lets talk names!

Lilyloo · 11/02/2010 16:43

Iwill my ds , almost 8, still feels the same abou being washed
Lucky nice to see you , bet that was a scare

gingeme · 11/02/2010 20:22

Yay LaT
Not much more to add to what the other ladies have told you about boys apart from as soon as they discover they have a willy that will be there best friend forever after congratulations x

simpson · 11/02/2010 20:23

LaT - congrats !!

Yes, spill on the name front!!

JustKeepSwimming · 11/02/2010 20:30

LaT-congrats from me too, boys are fab !

Yes what names have you got lined up???

Hollyoaks · 11/02/2010 21:34

LaT - congrats on the boy, a lady on my antenatal thread terminated too as it was discovered her dd had Edward's like my friends lo. It really shakes you up and enhances the worrying, but glad everything went well.

Ange - I live in Bedlington, I did go to the Surestart workshop on bf but didnt succeed with it so wouldnt have gone to the group. The service was on Tuesday afternoon

Simps - good news on your dd's physio, don't know if it means anything but my dd can climb up the stairs and bum shuffle down but not by herself, shes still too unsteady and prone to standing up.

Hope everyone else is well.

LaTrucha · 12/02/2010 10:17

Feeling very about my boy today.

It's very nice not to have to wait for the scan anymore. And only 8 weeks until the next one! Yay! There are some good things about being 'high risk'!

gingeme · 12/02/2010 11:58

Morning all
Something strange just happened at playgroup this morning. George was a grumpy grots and smacked quite a few of the children there He kept whinging to get up on my lap after I had told him off. I finaly gave in and got him up where he layed his head on my chest and fell asleep He hasn't fell asleep like that on me for a long long time. DH came and picked us up in the car and I thought that was it he would be awake from now but no he is fast asleep in his bed no

willsurvivethis · 12/02/2010 12:22

Is he coming down with something Gingeme or has he been partying half the night like Nathan (what possesses a two year old to squeal giggle and screech and boing around their bed at 4.30am? )

LaT glad you are so please with your boy

Gosh I thought I was over Nathan's birth and NICU days but just watched the clips from the first episode of One born every minute about the baby with problems, been bawling my eyes out - guess I'm a bit vulnerable anyway having had another not so good night and waking up with yet another new horrid memory but still. some grieving left to do apparently.

AngeChica · 12/02/2010 12:58

WST i did not watch the programme but i made my self watch 3 clips of the caesareans on the website. I was crying too but found it really cathartic. So i think it's a good thing even though it makes you feel bad at the time.

Its intersting they wrapped the CS babies up and just "showed" them to the mums though. I was a bit and . At least they brought A to us naked and laid him on me for a minute (until the CS started to go wrong).

LaT I am over the moon for you that all is well. A has taken turning 2 to start being a little more challenging but he is usually quite biddable, and he gives me lots of cuddles and kisses, I know that's really stereotypical view of little boys but in our case it's true. i would love a girl but if I had a boy I would be equally delighted.

Hi Lucky! how many weeks are you now?

maybe george is off colour Ginge? A does that when he has a temp.

yes same Hollyoaks isn't that strange of all the places! We're not "local" though. DH has applied for a job in County Durham. Hope he gets another interview at least.

willsurvivethis · 12/02/2010 13:07

Ange I noticed there was an awful lot of baby wrapping and keeping away from mum going on - even though there was a poster on one of the doors saying remember mum and baby skin to skin - although in case of the baby with gastroschisis I can understand why they wrapped him.

For me it was the baby covered in wires, the 'spaceship' (travelling incubator) and the sounds of NICU/SCBU (JKS will know the effect the sound of H's saturation monitor had on me - that boingboingboing sound when it goes off gets both me and DH in the bottom of our stomachs) - I can't believe it is two years ago and he's now a strapping (if small) toddler!!

LaTrucha · 12/02/2010 13:48

Sabela was wrapped and presented too. I so know they needed to check her because of possible trauma and she might have got cold but I feel sad about it. I couldn't even check what colour hair she had as I couldn't move my arms to take her hat off.

Better luck next time!

fillybuster · 12/02/2010 14:38

hey all, just back from my scan...finally! fillyflump is doing well and got the thumbs up on all fronts, which is a huge relief, as like LaT I had started worrying about absolutely everything. It's a.....

...

...

nope, not going to say

Have decided not to tell anyone at all for now, except possibly my (terminally ill) grandma and my sister who is off in Zambia running a paediatric ward in the middle of nowhere, singlehandedly, for a load of incredibly ill small malnourished children....

It makes me realise how lucky we are here, even when we grumble about the NHS, when she describes how the kids who in the UK would be in an isolation ward are the ones lucky enough to be 6 to a bed She starts her ward rounds at 7am, generally finishes at 11pm, doesn't stop all day and told me that if she spends longer than 10 mins, even with the sort of critically ill children who would have an entire team on call just for them, then she doesn't get to see all the children on the paed unit. And its just her and some local nurses....

Sorry, was going to respond to other posts but have gone utterly blank again. Oops !

simpson · 12/02/2010 16:00

Hi all

IWST - I have sky + the programme so will probably watch it tonight...

Had a bit of a nightmare school run this afternoon...

Walked back from keepfit class with M in buggy and a couple of friends and we just got to a couple of mins from the school (is 30min walk) when M started vomiting and could not stop

Imagine me standing on roadside with M spewing everywhere I could not get her out of buggy quick enough so all over herself, buggy, cozytoes etc.

Then was late to pick up J (although friend had gone on ahead to warn teacher) so he was upset too

Oh well, nearly bed time!!!

mixedmamameansbusiness · 12/02/2010 16:53

Oh Simps how awful. I am going to watch that birth programme over the weekend on iPlayer.

Oh Filly, c'mon if we say please really really nicely.
