Ahhh Simps... thinking of you

willsurvivethis · 28/01/2010 11:52

Simpson you have my number whenever you need to let off steam. Just keep breathing and think how good it is for dcs to see daddy. Forget MIL she's never made sense before she won't now x

mixedmamameansbusiness · 28/01/2010 12:23

IWST - I am saving that MIL gem for whenever I may need it... never made any sense before and wont now. That is genius.

willsurvivethis · 28/01/2010 12:40

You're welcome to it Mixedmama - lol

I had a wonderful sweet MIL, but I've heard a bit too much about Simpsons....

simpson · 28/01/2010 12:43

willsurvivethis - love the comment!!

Wanted H to be here to bath kids as I am on strike these few days while he is here re nappies, bathtime, bedtime etc as he can do it.

But just got text to say plane delayed by an hour so looks like I will have to bath DCs after all

gingeme · 28/01/2010 13:34

Sorry Nicky can't do the 24th
Simpson hopefuly you will see the benefits of all that exercise when M sleeps through tonight.
LaT George has all his teeth now. He was fine at pre school today while Edward was there though I did keep checking my phone al the way round Asda just in case.
We are going to my Mums for the weekend for a break. She said to me on the phone this morning 'what food shall I get for you slimmers then?'. Normal food Mum its Slimming World not Weight Watchers
Well thats about it from me. Off to clean the stinky fish out.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 28/01/2010 13:45

Oii Gingeme I wont have negative things about WW I ate normal food too, no special stuff here.

gingeme · 28/01/2010 14:29

Oops sorry love lol xx

fillybuster · 28/01/2010 14:50

Gingeme - my mum swears by SW and has lost loads of weight with them over the past year (about 3 stone and counting at the moment!). It really makes sense and I used her books and recipes after having Tamara to help get rid of some of the remaining 4 stone I couldn't shed and it worked well without me ever feeling hungry or like I couldn't eat properly

Simpson - sorry about you not getting a break tonight Is it worth (very gently) suggesting that you may not want to make your 'strike' too hardcore (although you definitely deserve a break!!), at least for the first day or so....H hasn't looked after the kids for a bit (and they haven't had time with them), so they may need you to help them adjust to him being around suddenly. And he may take you being on strike as too much like proving a point/being unpleasant, when you've actually been amazing. Obviously you know all this really, but allow for the fact it will take the dcs a bit of time to adjust to their dad being around again....and fingers crossed MIL doesn't piss you off too badly in the first 12 hours!!! IWST' advice is brilliant

Tamara slept last night but is being vile-child during the day. Sigh. If it wasn't for her birthday this Sunday (we're delaying it!!) then, honestly, I so wouldn't want to be giving her presents and cake at the moment....

Nicky - I can do 24th or 30th but can't get to putney....much too far south for me. I can do anywhere on the northern line (but would prefer not to go south of london bridge cos of time limitations...)...does hamleys have a coffee place?

LaTrucha · 28/01/2010 15:26

You've laready had great advice Simpson, so I am just sending you strength. You are doing a very nice thing.

JustKeepSwimming · 28/01/2010 15:27

Simps - sympathies. 'this too shall pass'....

had a quick google, maybe Coram's Fields? (near Gosh, Russell Square). cafe only opens at 1 though.

Or Museum of Childhood in Bethnal Green?

Or Transport Museum has a fun cafe area too - may be pricey to get in though.

Or places nearer G, Clown Town?

simpson · 28/01/2010 15:34

Filly - what H does not know (as it would make him and ) is that he will not be allowed to be alone with Dcs for even 1 minute. Due to his illness a yr ago. Not that he is a risk but I am not comfortable with it iyswim.

My dad is coming here this eve and will help (although how much help he will be ) H with bathtime etc.

I am only really going to strike for nappies anyway

I feel your pain having a tantruming child!!!

Nicky - don't think I can get to Putney either Date wise am easy though

simpson · 28/01/2010 15:39

Oh and H can take the rubbish out too

fillybuster · 28/01/2010 17:42

JKS - Coram fields is a good suggestion if the weather is nice...its got a lovely playground

DH has a free pass from work for the Transport Museum - not sure how many adults it allows, let me check...otherwise its v expensive!

And Clown Town would be excellent but maybe not too easy for Nicky or others to get to? Don't know what the transport links are like to Friern Barnet but I can def give someone + lo a lift from somewhere nearby if we go there.

There's also the RAF museum in Hendon/Mill Hill, which has an excellent play area and nice caff.

LaTrucha · 28/01/2010 18:03

Filly - how is Tamara's walking getting on? Was htinking about it today.

gingeme · 28/01/2010 20:10

Clown Town is about 10 mins from me Friern Barnet one that is or theres a Kidzbiz not far from me either which is alot smaller and easier to keep your eyes on the lo's. Let me know what you want to do and we could meet up at Arnos Grove station (Northern Line) and go from there. Ill try to get DH to get the day off or my Dad to do the school run. Its only 2 hour sessions though.

nicky6 · 28/01/2010 22:24

hi there me in se21 so friern barnet too far for me - i looked at corams fields too if weather ok would be great place there are also loads of cafes etc in the area - i work round there (well whennot having babies) Hamleys does have a cafe but i think will be hard to keep all together there.

i reckon carams fields if its nice and lets check transport museum maybe maybe a deal on but we need an indoor alternative - ok how about w do the week aftrer the 24th - the 3rd March is it? maybe better chance of reasonable weather?

fillybuster · 28/01/2010 22:37

Coram's Fields or LTM would both be nice...I'll ask dh about how much free access we get for the LTM.

This plan was definitely to meet centrally this time, even though Friern Barnet would be lovely and easy for me

LaT - Tamara's walking is fine. She's not always hugely confident, so prefers to hold onto a hand/finger when out on the street, but that just means she tends not to run off (not a bad thing). She never ever ever crawls anywhere now, unless her and ds are climbing under his bed or 'playing babies' But she is immensely under-developed compared to most 2 year olds so she does get tired v quickly when we're out and demand to be carried/buggied. Hard, as we want her to build up muscle (as the specialist ordered!) but can't always fight with her...

mixedmamameansbusiness · 29/01/2010 09:19

So as Corams Fields are soooo local to me and to top it off I will be at uni without children only round the corner... what time will you be there as I get a break from 1pm so could pop over and say hi.

Nothing to say really today just seeeing how everyone is.

Has anyone heard from Simpson apart from her FB post that said they were here.

fillybuster · 29/01/2010 09:34

Mixedmama - it would be great to see you, even if it without Ediz attached

No idea how to get to Coram Fields on public transport with Tamara but it would def be fun

Hope Simpson is alright...

simpson · 29/01/2010 10:09

Grrrr

I have asked H to pick up for some stuff for M's party on Sunday (cake, candles, birthday banner etc ie not much) and he refuses to pay for it!!!

FFS its not like he gives me any £££ for the kids..

Ok rant over

J been very upset this morning and think he finds it hard seeing his dad in this house as he used to live here (iwillsurvive - you were right!!)

But good news is that I have just got back from baby clinic this morning and they say for lone parents I should qualify for M's playgroup to be funded from the age of 2

Loads of paperwork though

H & MIL arriving back here at about 11ish and will have M all day (with my dad) and I will have some free time then keep fit etc and will be back to pick up J from school.

M still has not opened any pressies yet

Happy Birthday to Molly, Tamara and Alek

mixedmamameansbusiness · 29/01/2010 10:13

Why wont he pay Simps I dont get it? You would think he would want to. sorry it is being so crap... when are they leaving? It must be soooo hard for J as he is just old enough to sort of understand but not understand enough isnt he.

Happy Birthday to all the little ones.

fillybuster · 29/01/2010 10:25

Happy Birthday Molly, Tamara and Alek!!!

Can't believe it has been 2 years already...

I've been working so hard this week that I've not had time to do anything to get ready for Tamara's birthday (haven't even got some of her presents yet, or baked her cake) so we've decided to officially delay it until Sunday, which is the same day as her party, so she has one 'proper' birthday day where we can give her lots of attention instead of running off to work 5 mins after she woke up, like we did this morning!

Hopefully I'll finish work in time to do some baking tonight....

Finally managed to stick some photos of the last few birthday cakes up on my MN profile - I don't think the teddy bear I'm making this weekend is going to come out so well, though, as I've really not had enough time to think about it

Simpson - shouldn't he be providing some £££ towards supportng the dcs anyway? Have I forgotten something? Surely the CPS would demand some upkeep from him or is he not working any more? Really hope the next few days are bearable for you...so sorry you're having to deal with this.

AngeChica · 29/01/2010 10:26

Do you not get maintenance from your H Simps? I hope he got M a birthday present at least?

Have a lovely birthday, Alek, Tamara, Molly . Also thinking of Hollyoaks who posted here who had her DD same day, same hospital as me?

A has opened one present so far, wooden train set from my parents, and has already managed to send the engine under the sofa which I can't lift without help. Lots of tears. Waiting til DH gets home from work tonight to open the rest. We also haven't put his trampoline together yet which was our present to him . Saw a friend at soft play yesterday and she said it took them 2 hours to assemble the one they got for their DD. It's just a little one, not one of those great big ones.

Well supposed to be off to Tynemouth for lunch with my aunt, though it's snowing here! Having a little tea party on Sunday.

Have people seen Fragolina's DS on facebook? very cute.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 29/01/2010 10:30

He is gorgeous... have they thought of a name yet do you know Ange?

Oh and what is happening with the IUD... want some company when I FINALLY get to ante natal thread.... not sure i am going to be able to "take to" another group. Although have joined a student parents thread which is nice like this one.
