Oi, my name still stands for the bonfire season - has nobody ever watched Casualty at this time of year? Blood slightly less poor taste than burns ointment I thought.

Kitchen arrived before schoolrun hurrah, just waiting for builder to arrive so I can pay him.

Now, what on earth am I going to wear for Alternative Karaoke then? Can't decide whether to go trad black assassin gear with Amanda Palmer hairpins (see vid on my FB profile) or go 80s to try and keep up with the young folk (my electric blue slash neck Ashes to Ashes top is pretty striking.)

oopsandbabycoconut · 04/11/2009 16:03

YAY pleased minialbs is on the mend and is home where he should be.

HAd a lovely morning in Ikea with Steaky, D and Mammysteak. I went for a coat rack and fryingpan came back with - coat rack, coat hooks for DD, grater, fryingpan, stacking plastic cups for DD, finger puppets and a random cat shaped ball! Steaky was VERY organised and had the packages sizes, locations and had even measured the space in Mammysteaks car to ensure everything would fit. Shockingly TS like organisation! I on the other hand oftern buy and they get ot the car and phone DH to come and get us and our excess baggage!

DD stinky so back soon!

oopsandbabycoconut · 04/11/2009 16:04

that D should be her DD who is an absolutely adorable dot!

alittlebitshy · 04/11/2009 16:28

Heloo.

we are back, and just about awake.

ds is very grumpy - he had a 2.5 hour nap but bearing in mind we probably only slept frpm 2-7 last night, he is probably v v tired.

What happened:
well, i feel like the worst mummy
Ds and dd wer in the kitchen having a snack of raisins. i asked dd to watch ds whil ei popped up stairs. she came up and said he was alseep. I went down expecting a cute scene and he was slumped forward looking v out of it.

i lost it and yelled for dh who was luckily havign a meeting with a pharmicist church warden. she took him from me and got me to call the ambulance. she saw he wasn't breathing, but while i was on the ohne he did start agin. v drowsy and hard to rouse

super quick paramedic came and told ambulance not to rush illegally as he was breathing (they used the phrase not cardiac arrest which started me off again).

ds and i went in ambulance and dh followed in car. sat in a and e for about 4 hours.

he was a lot perkier and walking round chattering but his temp was shooting up and down so they admtted him to paeds.

brain starting to fizz over again, so i'll just say they monitored him overnight and i "slept" in a little bed next to him. he was a tinker for a couple of hours until abou2 and wanted milk every few mins and was walking round the cot banging the walls, hanging over the side, singing (gloria ) and screaming at times. He woke up the baby next to us .

they let us home with a fact sheet about febrile convulsions whcih they assume it was even though dd didn;t seee any shaking.

i am so sacred now.

not sure how i'll ever feel better uber dramatic. but he is my baby

scuse typos...

alittlebitshy · 04/11/2009 18:13

is that a new emoticon on have I missed it before? loving it!

BucketsOfBlood · 04/11/2009 19:21

Excellent, a biscuitgate face! God I love Mumsnet and that's all I have to say.

'Cept for good to see you and DS back ok Albs. BTW I saw someone slagging off your name on a thread the other day, how rude I thought! Although Albs would be quite fitting for a vicar's wife I suppose.

miamla · 04/11/2009 19:21

Ooh albs, good to see you back. Do you want me to pop round or would tomorrow be better? Either's good for me. DP has bought some flowers for you so I mustn't forget to deliver them to you!

alittlebitshy · 04/11/2009 19:25

awmiamla that is sweet for your dp. tomorrow would be good ad we're off to ebd soon.

buckets oh yes - cod has said before that it's a crap name. i like it though.....

Winibaghoul · 04/11/2009 19:25

ALBS I know exactly how you feel. I felt the same after Seb stopped breathing on us. I felt totally paranoid about it happening again, and scared of leaving him in his room in case he stopped and we wouldn't be there to get him going again. It has got easier though, and now I feel more or less normal about it all again. It really sounds so similar to what happened with us - except Seb wasn't monitored overnight. from me.

alittlebitshy · 04/11/2009 19:26

Sweet OF for for .

albs okey dokey, i've got an appt at the hospital in the morning but i should be able to be round yours for 12ish. i'll text you when i'm leaving if its going to be drastically different from 12
hope you have a good night's sleep

SazZaVoom · 04/11/2009 20:26

Evening

Busy day here, swimming, signing, stacking a tonne of logs, tea and screetching toddlers chat with NCT friend and home for DDs bedtime.

ALBS - so pleased to hear H has been given the all clear and undoubtedly it will be a while before you can fully relax without worrying. Hope you all get some rest tonight

Glad the Ikea meet went well and suitable crap purchases were made

dizz have you been swept under the carpet by the weirdy cleaner? . Hope she did better for you than the last geriatric cleaner.

miamla all the best for the hospital tomorrow. Are you flashing your arse again?

Fab news on the kitchen Buckets, i hope it all gets fitted quickly and with no fuss. I reckon you should do the glam 80's, after all you know how to wear it all from the first time

cyteen · 04/11/2009 22:09

albs so so so pleased you are back home with your darling boy. Of course you will be terrified for a while yet but I hope Wini's words prove comforting. Wishing you all nothing but healthy happy times from now on and of course plenty of

Been having a lovely time catching up with a friend and discussing wedding rings - she's a jeweller and very excited about designing our bands

pertelote · 04/11/2009 22:31

Ooo Cyteen what fun! What are they going to be like?

ALBS not to repeat myself, but it's true what Wini says (IME anyway), you do get back to normal however impossible that seems now. And I think you are a wonderful mummy as your recounting of events makes very clear. You FELT panicky but you DID all the right things and you were there when H needed you (which is not the same as hanging over him constantly just in case he might). I can just imagine him shouting and singing in his hospital cot, what a little star . Anyway I will shut up now but I am thinking of you all.

steaknife · 04/11/2009 22:34

hello everyone.

Albs so glad you and wee man are home safe and sound. Nothing to add that others haven't said better.
BTW, I like your name.

The day of Ikea went well.
I got to drive - lovely!

Met up with Oops and minioops easily. Minioops so cute and Lady Oops as lovely as ever.
Having printed out my buys and their locations the actual Ikea bit of the day was a mere formality though I somehow ended up spending £60 more than I anticipated. Though I did honeestly need the bathmat, plastic cutlery, tea towels, coathangers etc etc. I resisted all candles and soft-furnishings.

I have now had Ikea meatballs and don't feel the need to do so again. Mammysteak was impressed by the efficiency of Ikea and wasn't immune to whatever it is they put in the air con that makes you buy stuff. She now has some drawer organisers and half a set of plastic plates.

Since getting back I have put together the two sets of shelves for downstairs, Izzy's play tablemy new wardrobe and one set of the bookshelves.

Just one more bookshelf and the organising to do. But that can wait till tomorrow.

I am pooped!

TwilightSurfer · 04/11/2009 23:31

Hoping this posts.

Good!

I tried posting a nice note to ALBS right after she returned but kept getting his crazy code error. My thought was Oops goofed the thread with her use of the 'biscuit'.

ALBS I am so glad you are both home and things seem well. I'll second what Ann said as it does get easier to relax after they scare you like that. Took me a while too. (((hug)))

Funny story: I may have to go to the doctor because of an injury from yesterday caused by a ROSE BUSH. The bush fell over on my hand very hard, sinking one thorn really really deep. I got it out and paid it no mind but today my middle knuckle is swollen and sore and my middle finger is stiff. I fear tomorrow I won't be able to close my fist. How crazy is that!

Snotrocket · 05/11/2009 04:51

Albs so glad you're back safely at home and hopefully managed to get some rest if not some sleep.

Buckets - good point - wishing you all a happy and safe Bonfire Night. Have tried to explain this to my Singaporean friends and colleagues and they really don't understand why we celebrate such things!

luckoftheirish · 05/11/2009 07:44

SazZaVoom · 05/11/2009 08:55

Morning all, just popping on to say dizz is at the airport, no tickets, issued paper ones and running for plane. Nothing unexpected there then

Well done loti on getting DH to come home for an hour - maybe the message is getting through . Sorry for your rough night . We had one wake from DD1 at 3.15 for a wee then all quiet till 6.45 - hurrah

TS PLEASE< PLEASE, PLEASE go to the docs, i cannot stress quite how nasty rose thorns can be. GO!!!!!!!!

LOL at steaky not repeating the meat5balls experience. I too have not had them and not planning to now! Well done on the construction BTW

Right, off for a run & then shopping. Catch you later.....

oopsandbabycoconut · 05/11/2009 09:00

Morning all

HUGS for LOTI littlie - hope she is better soon.

ALBS - how was your night?

I went out to college last night leaving DH to do bed and come home at 9.30 to DD still awake. She had done her 'my bedroom is terrifying and I will scream if you take me in there for nearly 2 hours! I got home and settled her by 10. DH was all frustrated and hungry. I explained that it was a regular occurrence at 2 am and I think he finally understands that DD isn't alway sweetness and light. I am pleased that he got a taste of what I normally get.

DD and I off for a walk this morning and to market

SazZaVoom · 05/11/2009 09:38

Oh bugger, dizzy specifically text me to ask me to pass on all her best wishes to minialbs and all i did was take the piss out of her and her airport antics

Sorry

poppysocks · 05/11/2009 10:12

This is a sneak on at work, so will make it quick. Have also only managed a sneaky skim of the thread (albeit the shiny new one, thanks TS ) so apols for everything I miss...

albs - So to hear what a scary time you've had. So glad the wee man is fine though and hope you can settle down again relatively soon. Can't imagine how scary it have must been. And for the record, I leave my two together with DD1 'looking after' DD2 a lot if I need to dash upstairs, go to the loo etc., so if you're a bad mummy for doing it then we're in it together. (My DD1 is also younger too)

So relieved to hear that dizzy made it to the airport. Now we just need to hope she makes it out of the country.

Right.... London (and SE and sazzles ) Ladies.... Need to work out what I'm going to do with my weekend pass at the end of the month. We'd talked about meeting up that evening. However, as pertelote prefers daylight hours how about Sunday morning (29th)? Saturday night still fine for me though too if that's better for the majority. Hands up who's coming and when you'd prefer....

Right. Must get back to work. Getting the girls up and out 4 days in a row hasn't been nice. Add to that super-charged days and a non-sleeping baby (oh so ironically and not at all funnily because, I think, she's tired from being at nursery all day) I'm not at my most sparkling and efficient . Best get back and pretend though....
