I am eating burger (venison so low fat) and chips (5% oven chips), drinking wine (full fat) and watching Strictly. Difficult to MN too

miamla · 07/11/2009 20:01

oooh look at you, you multi-tasker you!!!

all i'm doing is eating soup and cursing the fireworks. why is it that we live in a really residential area but yet there are loads of noisy, bright fireworks all round us. i'm seriously considering trying to get them being banned for sale to domestic people. its ridiculous

miamla · 07/11/2009 20:04

oh, the reason i'm upset by them (particularly tonight) is because they've been going off since late afternoon and DS has been petrified. To the extent that he'd only eat dinner if he was being cuddled at the same time. Tricky given that i'm here on my own but i managed to get a little bit in him

oh and i just found out today that a friend who i've known for years is a cousin of one of my ex's! i'm still good friends with ex, his partner's just had a baby and whilst looking through fb photos i noticed that friend had posted a comment! i promptly got on the phone to congratulate ex on such a gorgeous baby and to find out how the hell he knew my friend!

SazZaVoom · 07/11/2009 20:07

At least there should only be this weekend of it as we are so close to the 5th. Sometimes you get 2 weekends and all week

We have had one lot of fireworks which i think were from the house for Learning Disabled down the road. I watched them from the lounge window and they were very nice . All stopped now though thankfully

miamla · 07/11/2009 20:11

ahh, that would have been fun sazz

i've got DS's lullaby thing on continuously so i'm hoping that's going to drown out the bangs. i NEED some sleep tonight!!!!!!!!

cyteen · 07/11/2009 20:14

albs I totally don't blame you at all. If I'd been through what you have this week I would probably be camping in DS's room Hope you're getting to enjoy at least part of what you've gone to and of course having lots of lovely cuddles with your little boy.

Re. fireworks, DS doesn't seem too bothered by them...could it be because this time last year we were living in the most Asian part of town and Diwali seemed to last all through the year?

alittlebitshy · 07/11/2009 20:20

Risking my low battery.

I thought we wld escape this weekend of fireworks being in a village in the middle of nowhere, but I can hear a few. Nothing like at home though.

We had scampi and chips here. Yum yum. Kids had fishfingers. Ds has decided he like trying to use a spoon himself but also decided, when trying to do yoghurt that it would improve it to add peas to the pot. Everyone who saw was and b though meaning yuk in this case!

SazZaVoom · 07/11/2009 20:20

DH just arrived home so better go socialise. Night all and hope the London fireworks cease soon for MiamlaBoy

SazZaVoom · 07/11/2009 20:31

I forgot to say earlier that DD2 has a new game - I was sewing some buttons on some cushions and she wanted some. So i got my button bag out and put about 8 in a small box and she loved them, rattling the box and then tipping them out and putting them back. Amazingly none went in the mouth

pertelote · 07/11/2009 21:20

That's cute Sazzles

Miamla what a night - hope the fireworks cease and you get some chance to sleep tonight. Was such fun to see you, ALBS and VG the other day - and obviously DD and DH were absolutely fine so I will stop making such a fuss about evening outings . Sadly though that will not include catching up with the lovely Poppy - really sorry Poppy but I am double-booked that weekend, I didn't realise when you first mentioned it but I am meant to be babysitting my god-daughter in Cambridge - and staying over so not around on Sunday morning either . What a nuisance, typically that is the only thing in my diary between now and Christmas and it has to be the weekend you're here. Grrrr.

Hope everyone is having good weekends.

RedLentil · 07/11/2009 21:29

I can offer asylum here where

a) domestic fireworks are banned.

b) the burning of Catholics never really took off as a cause for celebration.

at minisazz. In and out games are dd2's favourites. Her life improved hugely today when she figured out how to shout 'caca' for cracker, dragging me into the kitchen and pointing at the tin.

Added to yesterday's 'guckkkkkkk' for drink/cup she this makes her much more self-sufficient. She also seems to be trying to say 'cool' when something is good.

I'm loving the photos, but don't have any on the computer here thank god.

pertelote · 07/11/2009 22:44

Evening Red, love MiniLentil's 'cool' - isn't it brilliant when they visibly learn something?! Think we're synchronised with you today - we have had dragging for the first time, plus a similar communication breakthough - DD has been saying 'buh' for cup for a while but since this was rather hard to distinguish from 'buh' = book, 'buh' = ball, and 'buh' = bird (her signs for bird and drink are also identical...) it was quite a relief when she came out with 'rink'.

Speaking of signs she did something I found interesting... she has been signing 'cuddle' in a rather idiosyncratic way with her hands over her ears for a while, which I responded to as soon as I realised what she meant, but to start with I would also show her the 'proper' sign... then I gave up on that as hers seemed well-established. That was maybe three/four weeks ago - yesterday out of the blue she did the standard sign (with her word 'duddle') She must have had it stored up in her brain all that time and suddenly made the connection? Aren't babies AMAZING?!

lwfhthevampireslayer · 08/11/2009 01:23

hello,

Tired here, but think that I need to add that MrLWFH did meet 7 other Aug08ers in Bristol, so may be just in the lead here?

My sister had a reversible winnie the pooh sweatshirt, I was very jealous.

went to a nice rural town about 2 hours drive away today. DS got a bit tired, sometimes it's hard to get things right when planning trips, but nice to try anyway.

SazZaVoom · 08/11/2009 09:09

Morning

I do believe MrLongway and MrMiamla are ahead of MrSazz in the meetup stakes. In fact MrLongway will take some beating .

red i too was dragged across the kitchen for a 'dak' pointing at the cups/bottles. Unfortunately here too dak has about 50 meanings

Bless minipert and her cuddle requests . Sadly DD2 not bothered by cuddles (well other than with MrDizz [total flirt]).
She was awake for over an hour last night (not upset, just awake ) and would not settle cuddling in our bed. Finally we put her back in her cot and she went to sleep

albs how was your night? did you get some rest?

Hope you had a much better night too loti

No big plans here today but our friends from France are over this afternoon so some hidying will be needed.
DD1 currently dancing to last nights Strictly and commenting on all the dresses. Apparently Jades wasn't a proper dress as you could see her knickers , but Laila's Paso dress was very pretty but she has silly eyes {loads of black makeup )

oopsandbabycoconut · 08/11/2009 09:31

Morning

Not a bad night here - DH in spare room so I could et some sleep unbroken by snoring, grunting and hurrumphing. DD came in at 5 had a comfort suck then doesed off until 6.45 when ash asked for ilk and hit me with her signing hand! She had her milk and slept until 8. I asked in my normal way 'What to you want for brekkie?' expecting a blank stare as usual and was shocked when the answer was 'egg' So I asked again downstairs and she still said 'egg' so poached egg and crumpet has been fed to a moving target as she refused the highchair and wanted to run to me for a spoonful then hide behind the curtain then run back for more, over and over again!

Nothing much on here today, Rememberance Parade this morning in town then slobbing out this afternoon.

hotterpotter · 08/11/2009 10:44

Morning

Both DC being a bit arsey here, despite sleeping in till 8.45am They were late to bed after we went to see the fireworks (in the rain) but it is still amazing. Sadly I must have had the sling on a bit wonky because my back is a bit twingy today. Better be careful as have lots of stuff to move around upstairs in my jumble sale bedroom. Oh the excitement of my life...

Go MrLWFH you are unlikely to be beaten with that score, unless one of the Aug08 ladies holds one of those euromillions tickets and is currently organising a world cruise for us all

cyteen · 08/11/2009 10:47

Bleurgh. Am on sofa recovering from melodramatic hangover. Still in my pyjamas Nothing more to add.
