Here we go again!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
oooggs · 04/01/2010 20:05

hope you are having a fab time tonight ladies (check me out!!!! posting two nights in a row )

Sweettalkinwoman - yes we still have twins they will be 3 at the end of March so still have 3 under 3.

Dinky - Luke is a dream baby, no problem at all, unlike the other 3

littlesez · 04/01/2010 22:34

wish i was out wiht you tongith ladies im goign to bed now

Dont know whats up with bubs it seems like teeth but why would she have a temp

be back soon x

LittleMissNorty · 05/01/2010 08:15

Hope she's ok Littlesez - ear infections can start with a fever so keep an eye for batting her ears etc or discharge. Meanwhile calpol and neurofen . Hope she's better this morning.

Hope you all had good meet-up last night

Caught DS munching on DDs poo yesterday - charming!

Good to see you oooggs. 3 under 3 -
OMG!

dinkystinky · 05/01/2010 08:44

Ugh LMN - I read your post while eating my breakfast and the thought of your DS's snack put me off my porridge

Oooggs - glad to hear No 4 is a dream! Impressed at the 2 nights in a row posting too - keep it up!

Littlesez - I think some babies can get temperatures when teething (especially if several coming through at once). LMN is right - calpol and nurofen, combined with camomile powders (like Nelsons) and Anbesol if desperate, should put teething pains to bed for a bit. If Izzy is crying when you lie her flat but ok when upright on you that might indicate an early stage of an ear infection so worth getting it checked out. Of course it could also be the early stages of a virus she's fighting off. Keep doing what you're doing - lots of bfs and TLC and she'll be better soon.

Was lovely to see MOS, STW, KBN and Nkweto last night, without bumps or babies or small children around, and to see pics of their gorgeous little ones - thanks for braving the arctic temperatures to make it out ladies. True to form Danny was a teething monster last night so only around 4 hours of sleep had between me and DH, but hey at least I got to have a cocktail and a good catch up with some friends before the night shift started Still cant believe our little monkeys will be turning 1 in a matter of mere weeks...

SweetTalkinWoman · 05/01/2010 12:01

Crikey Dinky - you were looking remarkably well last night on such extended sleep deprivation, but how are you doing today?

It was lovely to see you all last night and worth braving the trains and the cold! My car was completely frozen over at the station so it took me a while to get going. Hope you all had safe journeys home. Hope all is going well this morning MOS?

I've had a rubbish morning so far. Skidded the car on way to nursery which scared me silly, left both kids screaming at nursery because they didn't want to go , I ran to the station to catch the train and tripped over a paving stone and went flying. Have cut the palms of my hands, bashed up my knee and bruised my elbow. Then had to go to a different station and missed 3 more trains in the process. Let's hope things improve... A nice cup of tea and some chocolate should help...

Am keeping an eye on the weather and will be shooting off home at the first sign of snow. LMN uurrrggghh at the poo munching!!!

dinkystinky · 05/01/2010 14:22

Ouch STW - that really is a rubbish start to the day. Look on the bright side - your day can only get better from that start... hope your hand is ok. My brown skin is pretty handy when it comes to hiding the grey pallor due to lack of sleep

STW - ouch - hope things have improved

dinky - how organised best be thinking of some presents. Luke won't expect anything but the others will expect him to

Snow here has caused chaos - well Cornwall is for sun not snow

Not sure if I have said, but I am not going back to work!! I am currently back at the moment but on leave (so getting paid) but start a 3.5 yr career break on 31.03.10 and therefore go back on 02.10.13 just after Luke starts school.

I couldn't get him into the works nursery, couldn't afford for him to go anywhere else what with cost and logistics. Anywhere else would be 4 children in three different places over two counties.

I think dts will therefore leave that nursery on 30.03.10 and start pre school at ds1's school after Easter which will be government funded and term time only.

Save a fortune in diesel and will then have 3 of them in adjoining buildings and Luke with me.

Hoping to get made redundant before I have to go back

Aren't children & work complicated? Thinking on taking a different career path instead!

mumoverseas · 05/01/2010 15:36

hello all, was lovely seeing some of you last night, really nice evening, just what the doctor ordered

DH/FW arrived back this morning at around 8am. Not killed each other yet

STW poor you this morning, I know you were anxious about your journey this morning and that didn't help.

LMN yuk! presumably that is one occasion you can wash your child's mouth out with soap?

oooggs career break sounds sensible rather than the alternatives. I was shocked last night by what STW and nkweto were saying nursery fees were. Have you thought about maybe doing some sort of course whilst you are off, ie a correspondence/distance learning course that you can fit in around the DC? I've been on my career break for 4 years now and found I had to do some sort of study as I was vegetating. nec college in Cambridge do some good courses

P.s MOS - glad all relatively quiet on the western front Have you given him some pocketmoney or does he have to earn it with good behaviour first?

Oooggs - check you, three posts in 3 days! Career break sounds good - very Hope you manage to figure out what other thing you'd like to do. Also hope the snow doesnt leave you in too much trouble. I still dont understand how if they knew the snow was/is coming they dont sort out the roads etc...

mumoverseas · 05/01/2010 17:53

dinky, DD1 and I were dropped off at Bluewater for a few hours whilst he took G & H to see his parents. That was a pretty big punishment
He is now running me a nice bubble bath in the jacuzzi bathroom, just hope he has listened to my many warnings about not putting too much bubble bath in.

Its a bit odd looking at the above lists, where did everyone go?

oooggs · 05/01/2010 19:42

woo hoo I'm still about (twice in one day!!!!)

MOS - I was due to do a teacher training degree (all those moons ago) and didn't bother starting it. I don't regret it one bit but I need something to fit in with the children as dh works shifts & is sometimes away.

I know teaching isn't the answer as it isn't totally child friendly and child care before and after school would cost a fortune with 4 of them. I have found a TA course at the local college (within walking distance) which is one afternoon a week and finishes in time to pick up from school/pre school.

I was then thinking of working at the school a few mornings/afternoons a week. The current TA's start when their children go into the classroom and finish as the school does, so no childcare.

Thought I would wait until Luke starts at the attached pre school in two years time and go from there. If it doesn't happen then fine but it gives me something to aim for at the moment.

I am sad as the nursery I use (which is subsidised through work) is fantastic and both ds1 and dts started there just after their 1st birthdays doing 2.5 days a week. I don't want dts to leave (until they are due to start school) but I have to be sensible about this.

My goodness - no all I can do is come back and waffle

Yes where did everyone go?

TulipsAndTinsel · 05/01/2010 21:56

hello all.... i'm here.

not studying. not setting up tv we bought up today. not having a nicwe relaxing cuppa.

instead we're still waiting for A to show the vaguest sign of tiredness sso we can put him down... poor lad was asleep most of the day and is wired now!

mos... i hope things go ok.... i presume he grovelled on hands and knees before you let him back over the doorstep?

SilveryMoon · 05/01/2010 22:04

My charger is crap!!!! Dp can get it to work but I can't.

may have to buy a new one friday.....
pro 'see' you all then

littlesez · 06/01/2010 08:16

dinky come to think of it she has been crying at lying down! screaming unless shes on the boob, ive had to feed her to sleep for evry wake up and nap. so could be the ear infection ill get my mum to have a look when she wakes up

I am snowed in at my mums though so cant get to docs

MOS whats the latest on fw how did he come about flying back?

Better night only a few wake ups sp not up ALLLLL night thank god. still zombiefied sorry for typos.

tee hee first week back at work properly and im snowed in ha ha

oh my god! the babies are nearly one the good old days of out ante natal thread

dinkystinky · 06/01/2010 09:10

Sorry to hear you're snowed in Littlesez - sounds like it might be a low grade ear infection. has she got a temperature? May resolve itself by the time the snow disappears but if not, is worth trying to get to see a doctor to check her ears out. Hope she's better today.

Is snowing here. Danny's teething still - no 5 tooth is on its way through - so not much sleep last night and poor DS1 has got a dodgy tum and off school (which amazingly is open despite the snow) with a runny bottom today (thankfully DH got up with him at 4am to sort him out). Thinking of namechanging to "Dinkysleepdeprivedandstinky"...

Hoping you guys are all ok. I hope you've stayed home today STW to avoid any more snow related incidents.

mumoverseas · 06/01/2010 10:44

hello all, lots of snow here.
FW/DH has just taken DD out for an hour or so. Apparently he HAD to take lots of rubbish to the tip rather than wait for the dustmen in 2 days. Mind you, knowing them they won't be here in 2 days due to snow. Any excuse. Lazy buggers didn't take rubbish last week as I'd not moved my bin forward about 2 foot.

Was very calm with FW yesterday (probably because we were apart a lot) A bit pissed with him this morning. He kept falling asleep when we were watching a dvd last night at around 8am so I told him to go to bed. He went into spare room and although he did offer to take H I said he still needed feeding so he stayed with me. FW therefore had about 11 hours sleep last night and I had about 3.
I then had a hissy fit just now as despite all our plans and phone calls to sort out our flights before christmas, he has f*ed it all up. We made hundreds of calls to get it all sorted so we were sitting together at the bulkhead with the skycot/bassinet. Had it all confirmed in writing. However, due to FW changing his flight and booking on a new booking reference, we now cannot sit together and he can't see why I'm pissed with him and just had the cheek to say, oh you are shouting again, this is why I left blah blah blah. Stupid arse!

oooggs sounds like a sensible plan ref becoming a TA, at least no childcare worries/costs.

dinky poor you and DS1. H still hasn't any teeth

SM that is a serious issue, the risk of no MN is to be considered a very serious problem to be sorted urgently

littlesez hope I is ok, its awful when they are not well. Hope she is better soon

garr, bloody snow. Just got an email from DS1's school. We'd arranged appointments to see all his teachers today as can never make parents evenings as always mid term and half the teachers aren't in today. They said we can go and maybe see 1 or 2 or risk 4.30pm tomorrow when we MIGHT be able to see some or all, or maybe not!
As if I haven't got enough to do and have planned my last few days here like a major military operation. Never got down to see mums old friends and her bungalow (to hopefully get a few more sentimental bits) and still haven't managed to get to the grave which I MUST do before I go. Bloody snow

elkiedee · 06/01/2010 13:07

Grrrr at FW H, MOS. I'm still shocked by the way he's treated you over the last few days. Hope you manage to visit your mum's grave. I know your son's education is important but it seems you've done what you can to liaise with the school. Good luck with everything!

dinkystinky · 06/01/2010 15:11

Is anyone else tempted to put christmas carols on and pretend its christmas again with all the snow going on out there Its settling in central london so god only knows what its like at home at the moment- have already had a text telling me school (round the corner from us) is closed tomorrow due to the snow.

MOS - hmm, sorry that FW/DH's contriteness didnt last very long! Put him in with H tonight and get a good nights sleep and hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.

HILARIOUS thread on AIBU by BonsoirAnna at the moment about DSSs going to Miami and being fat and with a new wardrobe as a result. Am sat here chortling away to myself while contemplating when it is I can legitimately call it a snow day and go home.

oooggs · 06/01/2010 19:52

Had all 4 home today and the school was shut (ds1) and I didn't chance nursery (dts) as it is 12 miles away in the next county and I was worried they may get stuck there.

Tulips - hope A finally went to sleep and that you had a good night

Silverymoon - that is dreadful - hope you are back very soon

littlesez - has she perked up? Glad the snow has been on your side

dinky - hope ds1 is well enough for school tomorrow . L has 8 teeth and they can all at once at around 5 mths

MOS - you are a star and seem so incontrol. Sorry about seeing the teachers though - hope something can be sorted

L is on cows milk - I know it is early but the formula ran out and I have changed him over later than the other 3

katieblirdsnest · 06/01/2010 21:42

it was lovely to catch up with some of you in grown-up time the other night.

STW can't believe your problems the next morning. hope you're OK now.

MOS hope things have calmed down again a bit with FW. he really doesn't seem to get the thin ice he's skating on but i do hope you can talk things through and make some progress.
also really sorry the snow has buggered up your plans for your last few days here. it must be so frustrating.

i'm still finding the snow a bit exciting, dd's school was open today and i went to work but when it started getting pretty heavy mid afternoon i made my excuses and came home. really didn't want to get stuck and i wanted to let our nanny have a chance of getting home too! no news on dd's school for tomorrow but i suspect it will be open again from the look of it.

littlesez it does sound like more than teething so it might be worth you getting him to the doctors when you can.

dinky, hope you get some more sleep. you do always seem to cope amazingly well. and thanks for suggesting the bonsoiranna mad link...i nearly had lumpy cheese sauce thanks to paying bonsoir more attention than my cooking!

littlesez · 06/01/2010 22:45

No its ok i think Isobella has had a much better night no ear infection just 2 teeth coming number 5 and 6, no temp today

oops think thats her........

mumoverseas · 07/01/2010 08:39

morning all.
littlesez, glad Isobella had a better night. Very of the teeth.

KBN glad you are all enjoying the snow. Although its been a bloody pain it was funny watching DD in it yesterday.
I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that it clears up soon in time (just in case!) for my flight on Friday. Also, we are due to be having a bed delivered this morning between 7.30am and 1pm and fingers crossed it will arrive otherwise the next date we can get it is July!

oooggs H has been on cows milk from around 6 months. I tried him out a few times on milk and yogurt and although he still has his formula as a top up to b/f its nice to know he can have milk in an emergency.

dinky still being a FW and more 'words' last night. More reminders of MY faults and what I need to do. I said that I was having second thoughts about going back there and to be honest, I really don't know what to do. So confused about it all.

Thanks for info ref Bonsoirs thread, will go and cheer myself up. She always is a twat/fun
