Great news Cazzy

DrSkidaddle · 28/02/2010 20:02

great news cazzy - you didn't find out the sex I take it?

No STILL not in labour - sweep tomorrow and induction booked for a week today (40+15) so I suppose he's got to come out at some point....

BT - how annoying about your house/estate agents. Did your DH manage to view the house you like? Is it a go-er?

FreakoidOrganisoid · 01/03/2010 13:20

Great news Cazzy If it helps at all my sister was a late aug baby and she is a blimmin genius (got her phd aged 25)

Skid I was sure it would be last night You mst be fed up now.

BT yes I did and he has been moody about it ever since

Buzzy twas her armpits and yes ish. I think it was downto lack of washing! Well she has a bath every day and has always at least got them wet and it didn't occur to me she would need to properly wash them everyday yet Plus she has v sensitive skin and excema so baths are just plain water or sometimes oilatum. Now I am getting her to wash under arms with soap and am putting talc under them on busy days and she doesn't whiff...not sure if it is normal that she needs to do ths yet though? I always thought children didn't need much actual washing but maybe that's just me!

fifisboys · 01/03/2010 13:28

Hi everyone

Arcadie · 01/03/2010 18:07

Fifisboys That's very exciting! Congratulations. When're you due?

fifisboys · 01/03/2010 18:31

I'm due around the 30th october...im waiting for my mw to call me hopefully tomorrow to see if i can be sent for early scan due to previous mc's....i just hope to god everythings ok this time

becklespeckle · 01/03/2010 23:56

Congratulations Fifi! Fingers crossed for you xxx

Skid, fingers crossed for you for a spontaneous labour very soon! It's awful going over, I was late with all mine but DD was the worst at 12 days late - I was induced in the end, thankfully!

becklespeckle · 02/03/2010 00:05

Well I got the results today on the lump on my Thyroid and its not looking good. The cells were apparently 'suspicious' but not definitely nasty. They are concerned enough that they are going to remove my thyroid gland in the next 2 weeks though so they can get a proper look at it all - just waiting for appointment... I think they are concerned as the lump is quite large. I am a bit numb TBH. Assuming it is the worst news, it is highly treatable with a good survival rate so I'm hopeful and trying to stay positive

DrSkidaddle · 02/03/2010 00:34

oh gosh beckle, I'm so sorry What an awful shock for you - did you get the news today? Hope you manage to get some sleep and don't lie awake all night worrying. Good they're acting straightaway, and that if it is the worst case scenario it is treatable with good outcomes. Still must be a lot to take in though. Hope your DH and DC are looking after you xxx

Hi fifi - congratulations, fingers crossed all goes well this time

DrSkidaddle · 02/03/2010 00:36

oh yes, meant to say, I think I'm in early labour (hence posting at such a ridiculous hour)!! Contractions still not too painful but coming every 5 mins or so and can't sleep through them so am MNetting while DH snores upstairs...

buzzybee · 02/03/2010 09:23

oh beckle that's just not fair
Try and stay positive - easy to say I know. I have all my fingers and toes crossed for you.

Go skid go!

Clairey - I think people of any age can have bacteria on their skin which is what causes BO. I remember my mother being mortified as a child when I got impetigo under my arms. When DD1 was 3 had a mosquito bite which got really badly infected so that it formed almost small crater on her leg and they said that was just regular bacteria on our skin which for some reason had decided to multiply hugely. It was quite resistant to antibiotics too.

BT good luck with the house.

claraquack · 02/03/2010 12:40

Beckle - it must be really hard to stay positive but you must do - as you say yourself even the worst case scenario is treatable. Is it a big op to take out the thyroid gland? Good luck, I will be thinking of you x

Skid - how exciting, I really hope it's proper labour this time! Looking forward to hearing the news.....

Clairey - I agree with you that I have never thought children needed much washing at this age unless they are actually grubby. Dd2 is the sweatiest child I have ever met so I make sure she has a bath every night and use soap but dd1 never sweats at all so I have not really worried about her. AT least it looks like you've got it sorted out.

BT - how's the house hunting? I have been following your adventures on Facebook - did you take either of the two houses you saw the other day?

OP posts:
becklespeckle · 02/03/2010 14:49

Ooooh Skid [excited emoction] - fingers crossed!

I slept quite well actually, there's not a great deal of point worrying - I know a bit more what I'm dealing with now so I can plan forward a bit which is good for me. I am keeping busy and not googling (much) and not dwelling. I think DH has taken it harder because he is an optimist and didn't expect it at all, he thinks I am fragile now but in reality I feel fine. DSs are okay, a little more temper than usual from DS1 and DS2 is a bit quiet, DD is just her usual self.

I am managing to stay positive Clara, I'm not a lucky person generally but I like my odds with this cancer (if that's what it turns out to be) - 80-90% survival rate at 10 years. I'm not sure how big an op it is to have the thyroid removed but it will be 3 days in hospital if it goes smoothly. I have a friend at work who had hers out so I may ask her about it tomorrow when I see her.

BouncingTurtle · 02/03/2010 15:44

Oh Beckle I hope it turns out to be something not too serious, try to keep positive.

Fifisboy - hello and congrats - sending you lots and lots of sticky bean vibes!!

Clairey - men can be such fuckwits... don't you just love it the way they make you seem unreasonable!

DrSkid - how exciting!! Wonder if baby is here yet and hopefully hot on the heels of your new arrival will be Arcadie's!!

DH saw 2 houses on Sunday night. The second on paper looked much better, 2 terraced houses knocked into one making a huge 4 bedroom house. Sadly, the nice pine kitchen has been half ripped out, the plaster is flaking from the walls, the back garden looks like it is gone completely wild and worst of all the cellar has a pump and sump in it - which means the house is riddled with damp. FIL (a retired building surveyor) said not to touch it no matter how cheap it is. Plus the owner is only selling up because his ex-wife is forcing the sale, she walked out on him and the kids, and he doesn't want to move and uproot them So even if the house was nice, I'd better he would drag his heels anyway.
2nd house looks really nice, though faces out on to a t junction, though it is a very quiet cul-de-sac. It transpires the house next door is also up for sale and that is tucked behind the house DH saw, so we have arranged to see both next Sunday. We have also knocked £8,000 off the price of our house.

DrSkidaddle · 02/03/2010 15:45

beckle - I'm exactly the same - always think about the worst case scenario but then if it does happen I cope quite well because I've already considered it. My DH is like your DH - always optimistic but then shattered when bad things do happen. Glad you're feeling OK and we will all have our fingers crossed for you.

Now, there was something else I was meaning to mention ... what was it again....

Oh yes, baby Malachy was born this morning at 5.50am weighing 8lb8. Horrid back-to-back labour but feeling great now and he is luverly . DD is completely smitten with him, DS less so but seems fine (so-far). Can't believe we are a family of FIVE now (so environmentally unfriendly but so lovely!)

FreakoidOrganisoid · 02/03/2010 15:57

[sitting on hands all blardy day emoticon]

Can't believe you started your post that way-people are going to miss that announcement hidden in there

Congratulations and well done on deciding on a lovely name

DrSkidaddle · 02/03/2010 16:08

wondered if you'd know who the text was from clairey! I know, can you believe we've already decided on a name??! Said to DH, shall I text everyone Malachy then? He said, no, let's think about it first, so I texted anyway!! Otherwise it would just have been another 6 weeks of arguments - it definitely suits him though!

Pic on fb although I know objectively speaking he looks like any other screwed up newborn!

claraquack · 02/03/2010 16:16

CONGRATULATIONS SKID

Now hopefully no-one will miss the announcement. LOVE the name! You did what my dh did with dd2's middle name - I thought we were still pondering it and he phoned my mum and told her. Not that I mind as I like it (Erin).

Was he born at home or did you just come home quick or are you internetting from hospital??? Are you still on cloud nine? Did you have lots of pain relief?

OP posts:
claraquack · 02/03/2010 16:19

Oh sorry forgot you're four hours behind us so actually you have probably been home for a while from the hospital. It's not midday there is it?

And forgot to say congratulations and good luck to fifisboys too - perhaps it'll be a girl and you will have to change your MN nickname?

OP posts:
BouncingTurtle · 02/03/2010 16:56

Congratulations Skid! He is is absolutely scrummy And the name is fab too!!

cazzybabs · 02/03/2010 20:01

Beckle - easier said than done (and I don't take my own advice) but try not to think the worst until you know...gosh I have been selfishly praying about this baby to be born in Sept...I will try to stop being selfish and send prayers your way.

Skid - congratulations...hope everything is going well.

cazzybabs · 02/03/2010 20:02

skid - how come I am not friends with you on facebbook... I don't mind being billy-no-mates

verybusyspider · 02/03/2010 20:17

Congrats skid!!! I checked out the facebook photo he's gorgeous and so not helping my broodiness!

verybusyspider · 02/03/2010 20:21

claraquack · 03/03/2010 00:07
