Hi thought I'd take the bull by the horns and start a new thread. Hope the weaning was covert enough! Fire away!

Her name is Skye. We had a holiday to Skye booked for when I came off on maternity leave, but she was so early we never made it, so we decided to call her Skye instead.

She's still tiny (12 lb 10 last weigh-in) but otherwise seems fine.

welcome galana.

patchy conservatory. That's awful.

back2work just sorting my child care. Is a nightmare but getting there. Work been great. changing my hours in spet when dd1 goes to school so I can take her and pick up most days. Means more days but shorter ones. Is the bonus of working for ex council dept (the library)

Sorry, making tea and watching dd2. Will catch up later x

Patchy that's scary re your conservatory Glad no one was hurt. Sorry to hear about the funeral being postponed

Pureed some carrot yesterday and added baby rice to it to get right consistency. Looks much better. dd had some today and seemed happy enough to eat it. Went to baby clinic today and am now feeling a bit despondent because dd's weight has dropped almost 2 centiles She began on 25th, then went up to 50th and is now hovering just above the 9th I don't know why. I noticed that she was fussing at the breast and taking less in the day time during the past 3-4 weeks but put it down to illness and teething. HV suggested I speak to lactation consultant. I have a feeling my supply may have diminished so have started taking domperidone to increase supply. Rang the LC and she said no harm in doing that until I see her on Monday. Tried dd with some HIPP follow-on formula this evening and was so shocked because she guzzled the 2 oz I put in the bottle (didn't put more in because I was sure she would reject it). I promptly went to get more but she started screaming and by the time the next lot was warm she refused to have it. Sigh. Will have to persevere I guess. She fell asleep soon after so I guess she was really tired - not the best time to try something new.

Galena welcome I am new myself. Also had a very premature baby - born at 30+5. She was due September 16th, born July 13th. Development wise I felt she was somewhere between the two so decided to join this thread even though I was on the sept antenatal thread. dd is also still teeny - 12lbs 14oz today.

ladylush · 07/01/2010 18:12

Lovely name for your dd Galena - nice that it is meaningful as well

Phoenix · 07/01/2010 18:22

Welcome Galena Lovely name. My auntie lives on Skye

PatchySnow · 07/01/2010 21:09

Welcome Galena and Skye you will have fun here.

I am thoroughly pissed off tonight. DH has gone to work and I feel so crappy left here with the insurance stuff to deal with, the dc off school again tomorrow, no car any way as he took mine as its 4 wheel drive, the christening to try to rescue and the chance of more snow that will mean that dh won't get back in time anyway! AAARGH!

Rant over!

I am going to plan that we are going ahead and make a huge vat of soup tomorrow in anticipation. Had such a lovely meal planned, it was going to be such a great day, but I suppose I should be grateful that we are all ok and that it will still be a great day, just a different sort of day.

I feel very selfish to be stressed about it because of my friends poor husband. it turns out from the post mortum that there is no way that they would have been able to save him as his heart was in a terrible state and even if they had managed to get him to hospital they wouldn''t have been able to do anything. At least she knows she did everythig she could.

Sorry to be so depressing, am going to go and eat a custard donut and drink a big glass of wine now! I will come on here much happier tomorrow xxx

QueenFee · 07/01/2010 21:11

lady sorry her weight has dropped. A lot of babies do level off in weight if they are breastfed at this age as they tend to rise more steadily at the beginning. However your LC shoudl be able to advise you if there is a problem. Hope it goes well
galena agree that it's lovely that your little one has such a great story behind her name. I take it a visit to Skye will be on the cards when she is older!

School is closed again tomorrow so if you don't hear from me again I have jumped off the nearest cliff to escape the whinging (only joking!) We are forcast more snow over the weekend so no school next week I expect - how long will this go on for apparently the school is open for staff but not for the kids due to health and safety rant over!

Galena · 07/01/2010 21:43

Hi all, what a lovely welcome.

PatchySnow I haven't heard all your story (haven't felt able to read the whole thread) but for Skye's christening (and the thanksgiving we had 2 weeks later), we planned on a soup and bread lunch for all and it was really well received. We made 4 different soups for the first and 3 for the second. The most popular were mulligatawny, carrot and coriander and mushroom. If you want any recipes, just yell! In fact, Skye loved the mushroom! Must make some more!

LadyLush Skye's weight has dropped through the centiles - she started on the 25th and is now just above the 2nd. She drops every time she has a cold, bless her! Her consultant wasn't at all worried though - and unfortunately clinic was cancelled yesterday due to the weather so I haven't had her weighed for AGES.

ladylush · 07/01/2010 21:44

queenfee lol at jumping off nearest cliff. Ikwym - ds school closed yesterday but open today thank feck. After xmas holidays I needed the peace and quiet. Ds is adorable but very noisy. He talks non-stop and tends to do role play with his superman action figures ALL DAY - which wouldn't be so bad if he didn't try to incorporate me into his play

Patchybob · 08/01/2010 08:55

How much longer will they be off school, slowly losing my mind!

Have decided to cancel the christening. DHnow stuck in Seattle! What else can possibly go wrong!!

Patchy r u ok? What a palava! Hope he gets back ok and u have the christening soon.

G re the name Skye Love it. The name Skye is beautiful anyway. The story behind it even lovelier.

Activity ouch!

I am fairly sane today. School was open. Hooray. Pushing a double buggy in the snow on the other hand, was interesting to say the least.

babyblue4 · 08/01/2010 17:57

OK... am gone a couple of days and feel like I have so much to catch up on

Galene welcome! Your DDs name is lovely! I love when names have meanings!

Patchy Sorry about the funeral being postponed. That cant be nice for your friend to deal with. And re your conservatory! DH and I were looking at the pics on FB and could not believe that no one got hurt in that mess! I hope your insurance claim gets sorted quick! I HATE dealing with those people. We had water damage a few years past, and they gave us such a hard time. I had to become my unusual bitchy self to get them to fix the problem. And considering we never made a claim in the 10 years of owing a home before then!

christening In a way, its good you cancelled it. Hopefully, when the weather improves, the conservatory is fixed, and all the stars are correctly aligned, you will be able to plan a stress free celebration... which really, is what it should be anyway!

ladylush I have been taking Domperidone for my supply right from the start (and did so with DD2 as well). It works wonders for me! The other perk, is when I want to stop nursing, I stop the pills and can dry up within a week! I dont have to worry about all the engorgement or mastitis issues.

snow I really feel badly that you ladies are all snowed in with your DCs after a long Christmas break! I can imagine the cabin fever is reaching fever pitch! We have very little snow here. Toronto just missed a huge storm that cmae up from the US, so I am quite pleased about that! We have had enough snow the past 2 winters to last me a lifetime!

rolling/sitting Marco now doing both like a pro. Still a bit wobbly when sitting.

weaning Am now introducing veggies. Gobbled the sweet potato I made him yesterday. May try him on the homemade canneloni I am making for tomorrow... his first taste of Italian cuisine!! LOL

sleep Marco has been better the past 2 nights. His first waking is at 3:30am, then he stays in bed with us and is up again at 7am. I have found the trick to be nursing him on both sides before allowing him to fall asleep. Before, we were both falling asleep on one side, then he would wake me an hour later to feed on the other side. Stupidly simple, but its hard for me to stay awake while he feeds! LOL

Patchybob · 08/01/2010 21:11

Hi everyone, thanks for being so lovely. Its been a hard few days but like you said Activity I feel much less stressed now. We have rescheduled for 14 feb and everyone can come apart from the inlaws who will be in Australia. No great loss! !

The funeral is rescheduled for next wednesday so I hope that it goes ahead. It must be so awful for her being in limbo like this.

The up side of the whole conservatory thing is that we took one of the roof panels and spent the afteroon sledging on it. It goes like a rocket and I have never laughed so much. The dc loved it and it did us all good.

I had a nightmare with ds aged 8 today. he was playing the Wii and something went wrong and he said F**k. I have never heard him say it before and was so shocked. Anyway to cut a long story short I was very calm, sent him to his room and then went up after a while and spoke to him. I told him how disapointed I was and why he should never say that and have banned him from the Wii tomorrow. A rash decision as its the only peace I get!! I was quite pleased with how I dealt with it as I often think that calm, not raising your voice method is far more effective than shouting. Lets hope that is the end of it.

Still no sign of DH!

Misspaella · 09/01/2010 07:36

Baby Marco is really progressing. Sitting up too?! WOW. I nurse on both sides and LO still wakes twice a night on a good night. We are off to a wedding today and as of tomorrow I am introducing solids. Fingers crossed it means less night feeds.

Patchy you sound incredibly calm dealing with all this stuff. What's your secret? I would have torn my hair out.

Brr. It is still cold ladies....

Patchybob · 09/01/2010 08:10

Misspaella The secret it lashings of wine and custard donuts!!! xx

Have a good day everyone, lots more snow here, keep warm and safe xx

ruebenjames · 10/01/2010 07:25

Am I in the right place?
I assume from the title that you all had lo's in july.... Can I join your gang as a new MNer finding her feet?

Patchybob · 10/01/2010 07:38

welcome ruebenjames Its quiet on here at the mo as I think everyone is playing in the snow! Am sure they will be back soon! Can I assume your lo is called Rueben? We loved that name.

Well everyone, stranded dh has landed at Heathrow, just needs to get home now!! Can't wait as thoroughly fed up now!! xx

ruebenjames · 10/01/2010 07:43

No the name is after a Kenny Rogers song my mum loved, I'm cr*p at thinking of witty names for this kind of thing.
DS's name is Ellis, I love the name Rueben but I already know a boy of that name and don't like to copy.

Oh dear it's a bad enough to be up at this time on a sunday without being out in that cold, I think I'll just stay here near the tumble drier where it's warm.

Your poor husband (and you) this happened to my FIL the otherday, has he been stuck long?

lydiathetattooedlady · 10/01/2010 08:06

morning! welcome galene and reubenjames!! galene that must have been so scary for you, im glad you LO is ok. the name skye is lovely, and everyone has said, has a lovely meaning to it!

reuben Ellis is a lovely name too, when was he born in july?

patchy saw the photos on facebook, it looks awful, id have s**t my pants if it had happened to us, you're so calm! Sorry you had to cancel the christening glad your dh is home too!

activity ouch to falling over. i slipped on snow that had been traipsed through my kitchen and went straight in to the open grill door, have a lovely bruise on my thigh!

rolling/sitting Bill will still only roll one way, his sitting is a bit shaky. he's ok until he sees his toes, he then tries to get his toes in his mouth and falls over!

dancingclasses took dd to dancing classes yesterday. was a bit of a disaster as she cried throught out and wanted to sit on my knee. as we were getting ready to leave she said she loved it and wanted to come again im going to persevere with it a i think she was just anxious as she's not used to being asway from me as she's never really been to nursery or anythign like that!

work may have an exciting offer in the pipeline!! my stepdad, after hearing me saying how im struggling to find work, and now my younger sister who's just in her first year following teacher training, has been signed off with anxiety and depression, she also suffers from ulcerative colitis (sp), has offered to loan us the money to start our own business yippee! we want to open a wool shop after my mum closed hers, the challenge is to see if we can get everything up and running for when i need to start bringing a wage in! eek very exciting!

have a good day everyone!

ruebenjames · 10/01/2010 10:17

Thanks for the welcome Patchy and Lydia.
Ellis was born a day early on the 23rd.

It's nice to see how other people's lo's are getting on as I was beginning to wonder about Ellis as he also only rolls one way and his sister was all over the place by this age.
I think thats because she was always on her front though and he doesn't like to be.

That's really good news Lydia, I hope it all goes well for you!

Phoenix · 10/01/2010 10:27

Welcome Reubenjames .

Noah is 6mth old today. It's gone so fast. After posting the other day that he was very nearly rolling he did it the next day 3 times but hasn't done it since and dh thinks i'm making it up. Good job ds1 saw it too. He's sitting too now.

Glad dh is nearly home Patchy. Better that he's actually in the uk.

Lydia for the money lending. Great news

Wish this snow would bugger off now. I really want to go on our London trip on Thursday.

Phoenix · 10/01/2010 10:28

Oooops i mean Ruebenjames, sorry.
