A homage to the Nightmare Before Christmas song. DH obsessed with that film, we all (DD included) have to watch it on Christmas Eve.

Ooh Books... I love it when the presents arrive- I get all stupidly excited and want to give them there and then... but I hate the wrapping bit [boring]
Actually, I have bought DH tickets for a concert, that are ostensibly for his birthday, but the event is 2 weeks before... not sure how much longer I can kep this one quiet

Lenni- eek at 3 babies! Snowing!!! wow- was cold here today, but not quite that cold.

tree bset of luck for tomorrow

treedelivery · 26/11/2009 22:18

Just checking in. Am a bit scattered as tomorrow is...well...tomorrow. Am all ready, apart from bag packing, school uniforms, bottles, baby food, nappies, my wash bag, dressing gown......oh.

Def have the party Moose, if it is a very small family affair that will be lovely too. If it is the full shebang [sp?] then faddy do too

A good friend is having her section tomorrow too. Wow. Her first bubba. Wow.

Be glad to get rid of this belly ache and general feeling of being stuffed full of air.

I raelly rally wish I had made time to have my eyelashes and eyebrows tinted, and a pedicure etc. So I felt I didn't look like a scruffy walrus. Just a walrus

Will be back soon x

EachPeachPearMum · 26/11/2009 22:23

Ooh tree- is it tomorrow for baby? Does she know what flavour?

treedelivery · 26/11/2009 22:24

No!!

EachPeachPearMum · 26/11/2009 22:30

am very excited for her!

hackneyzoo · 26/11/2009 22:45

Tree hope it goes well for tomorrow. Think you deserve to treat yourself after your eggy harvest,if anyone deserves some pampering 'tis you! Exciting about baby too, am ridiculously broody again...can't believe I am feeling sentimental about being the size of a whale this time last year.

Lenni, I am sending sleep vibes your way, hope you have a quiet night. And snow!

EPPM What tickets have you got DH? I was thinking of doing the same for my DH, but not much on(but I want to get tickets for something I'd like to go to too which is hard cos I like indie durge an ddh likes soul and world music funky sorta stuff.)

Had a nice evening at the 'community meal', last thurs of every month they put on a meal which is a bit of a free for all at the local community centre in this beautiful old church building, people take it in turns to cook. Its really lovely, loads of kids running around and makes it easy to meet people. A girl was doing face painting tonight, so returned home with a tiger flavoured DD, and am now covered in orange paint. Am full of community spirit me...and a few glasses of red

treedelivery · 26/11/2009 23:30

AAwww this time last year!!! Apart form the fact that dh would be being made redunadant tomorrow, I would go back in a flash. I'd go dairy free earlier though

The meal sounds amazing, wonderful place to live!

at snow

EachPeachPearMum · 26/11/2009 23:50

Ummm.... not sure that it's to everyone's taste... The Yeah Yeah Yeahs... more like screaming female angst rock... but he likes them! Well...- now I'll know for sure whether he ever bothers to read my posts!

stripeywoollenhat · 27/11/2009 09:14

morning

on no dog poor you hope u feel better soon

good luck tree

stripeywoollenhat · 27/11/2009 11:38

poor you, dog . at least there wasn't anything, though. why no painkillers?

moosemama · 27/11/2009 16:43

Oh gosh! I am so far behind now. Just read the thread and have instantly forgotten it all again.

Except, Dog! Poor you, its good that they didn't find anything, but awful you had to go through all that. Presume the lumbar puncture was to rule out meningitis? Have you been checked all over? Only asking because ds2's pneumonia was silent pneumonia (ie no cough or temp) and he had 'spikey headaches' (his words) almost constantly with it.

I didn't really think it sounded right for migraines when you posted the other day, as you said you were having several a day rather than long episodes. Could it be Cluster Headaches? I have a friend who suffers from them, they are similar in pain and intensity to migraines but shorter and more frequent. I know they are thought to be hormonally triggered in some cases, has dd dropped any feeds as this might be related?

If they are thinking cluster headaches, they won't have given you any pain relief as analgesics such as paracetamol dont't work. You could try taking ibuprofen as soon as an attack starts as this sometimes lessens migraine attacks, but I think the pain increases so quickly that oral meds aren't much use.

You need to go back to your GP asap as they can offer you preventative meds.

Tree - bit late, but good luck! Hope it all goes really well for you and don't forget you are due a mahoosive treat of your choosing after doing something so huge and selfless.

Peach and Books and it was so kind of you to find dresses to offer me. I feel like a right wally that I'm not able to accept, but heartfelt thanks anyway.

Dd went for her 8-12 month check with the HV today. She screamed blue murder at her (as expected) and the first thing the HV wrote down was 'Stranger Aware'! Quite reassuring in some ways for me though as ds1 never had stranger awareness or separation anxiety. She has gone down to the 9th from the 25th centile for height and weight and weighs 17lbs exactly, but the HV says she is perfectly in proportion and just the right amount of chubby so has no concerns. She flatly refused to demonstrate that she can do anything other than cling to my front like a monkey, so it was mostly a chat and box ticking exercise.

I was really annoyed when we came out though, as the next baby looked really ill. They were standing by my pushchair and as I went to put dd in they told the HV that he had been really ill and was almost admitted to hospital the night before as its believed he has swine flu! I couldn't believe they had brought him to a baby clinic when both he and his mum had suspected swine flu! Poor little mite looked so poorly as well and I was frantically trying to get out of there as fast as possible. The HV didn't even explain that they shouldn't be there either, she just said - I'm ok I've had the vaccine! I was gobsmacked!

Just got back from ds1's Junior Apprentice Christmas Craft Fair at the school. Twas chaotic, hot and noisy and I somehow managed to part with almost a fiver for a load of glitter, wool and glue etc that (excluding one pompom) hadn't even been made by my children! Boys are happy though, they each have a sparkly robin for their christmas tree, a claydough hedgehog, a pom pom and a hand puppet!

Right, have to go and catch up on the housework now, haven't even managed to wash up yet today.

moosemama · 27/11/2009 16:44

Yay - another mega Moose posting! Its my superpower don'tcha know!

PatTheHammer · 27/11/2009 19:35

Tree- when are you back??? few questions for you about some awful stuff that has happened recently to two people i know. Don't want to bring evryone down by talking about it but just wondered what your take would be. Hope today has gone well.

Dog- poor you, how are you feeling today?

EPPM- I agree you seem the epitomy of calm to me!!

Missj- In answer to your breastpad queston the answer was no, that'll learn me!!

Lenni- did it really snow?? We have it forecast over the cotswolds this weekend but it is now raining so no chance. How did it go with 3 tiddlers? good enough to make you broody? You seem very organsed with the whole xmas and birthday things. i have sorted a cake for Z's birthday but absolutely nothing else. I did have a quick rummage on amazon and the elc site last night and have now purchased presents for all the children i need to buy for, lets face it they are the ones that count! So I blame MN for me breaking my 'no pressies in november rule!!!'

Moose-Glad DD's check was ok, but poor ill baby after you! Hope it was nothing bad. Your DD still sounds very dinky compared to all of us with big chunksome boys!

Hey to HKZ, Stripey, Tink and Books too!

Bad news on weds, My sister went for her operation to check out her fallopian tubes and they have found they are both irretrievably and completely blocked (or 'fucked' in her esteemed medical opinion). She has still been ovulating and still has a working uterus but no way of getting egg down the tube so to speak. Her only chance is IVF now but because she has my nephew (who is 6.5 now and from a previous relationship) the PCT she is n will not let them have it on the NHS. At 5 grand a pop I don't think it is going to happen. She has an appt with the consultant in 2 weeks to discuss options (egg sharing) etc but it all looks pretty bleak. She is also rather fecked off that they would not agree to investigate a few years ago (she has been trying for 4 years!). they ae unsure to the cause too, could be from chlaymidia that she had at 19 but she has actually had my nephew since then so they are a bit bemused. Anyway, i have offered my services as an egg producer or oven should that be needed but I think they just need time to digest the news.

Been a bit of a week really!

PatTheHammer · 27/11/2009 19:37

Sorry excuse the appaling spelling and typos, I am monumentally exhausted.......

hackneyzoo · 27/11/2009 20:07

Oh dog, poor you, hope you're feeling better, how scary. Glad theyf ound nothing sinister...lots of hugs being sent your way. DH suffers from cluster headaches, he has an attack about one a year and they are crippling and happen over a period of weeks, hope its not that as they are horrid...if they are I can give you a run down of things that help to aleaviate the pain as it took a while to work out. They key with cluster headaches is to get them at the start of the attack....will track down the name of the pills DH took...there were some hardcore ones that pretty much knocked him out for a few hours...or bog standard dissolvable asprin actually helped a lot. Oxygen is good too if you can get a prescription for a tank..

Moose- Glad HV went well...glad to hear I am not the only one who has a monkey baby!(Apart from when it comes to nurses!)

EPPM am of Yeah yeah yeahs! Wish DH liked the same music as me...

Tree- How did it go?

Pat, am very for your sister. I have a very good friend who has been trying for a baby for years and it has been a heartbreaking journey. makes me very very greatful that I have been able to have DCs without any problems. I hope she finds a way, seems very unfair that she can't have her chance of IVF on the NHS.

We have an appointment for a biopsy for J on 9th DEc and he has to go in next thurs for a few more tests. Am feeling a lot more relieved now chemo and many sinister childhood diseases have been ruled out. Its bloody frightening. But the Dr we are dealing with is this lovely south american woman who rang us this evening apologising profusely for the lack of communication and has completely got hte ball rolling now.

I have a sofa with three small children on it this evening as my friend's DH ended up doing his back in and is in hosp so I am on emergency childcare duty. Am stuffing them full of crisps and ice cream and watching Madagaskar for the millionth time.

Right, red wine time.

hackneyzoo · 27/11/2009 20:08

Wow, Moose has a lot of rivals for post size at themoment

moosemama · 27/11/2009 21:09

Y'all never beat me I tell you!

elkiedee · 27/11/2009 22:39

hkz, the meal sounds lovely.

Have had a quick thread catch up read, haven't been here much because I got distracted by book swapping site this week, which has been fun, but also lots of problems here. Had to leave work early on Tuesday because childminder rang up to say both D and C were crying and feeling ill. They had temperatures, colds etc. We took them to see the GP on Wednesday morning, and were told to give Calpol and bring C back if his temperature didn't drop. So on Thursday we returned and were prescribed Tamiflu for C.

Then in the afternoon British Gas came to service the boiler for the central heating and decided it should be condemned and turned it off. Earliest they would offer an appointment to sell us a new one is Monday (this is their definition of an "emergency" appointment for a family with two sick under 3s in November/December!) and they referred us to a possible repairer who also couldn't do anything until next week! We've managed to find someone else who is going to do the work needed on Monday and we will need to go for a proper replacement some time next year, but this will hopefully get us through the winter. Our current central heating uses a back boiler of a kind which just isn't made any more so we would have to have a completely new installation.

Thankfully D and C are on the mend and hopefully we'll have heating again by the end of Monday.

treedelivery · 27/11/2009 22:50

Am back, but wiped out. 9 eggs, very good. A bit sore now so off to bed with hot water bottle.

Managed to detour to Gap on way home [I have to take my chances as there are none for miles] but perhaps overdid it a bit.

9 though. Thats good. Pray God it works. So glad to be home.

Heart goes out to lots of us having tricky tims at the moment!

EachPeachPearMum · 27/11/2009 23:37

9 eggs? Yay! So hope everything works tree.

Dog- that sounds horrible Try and take it easy the next few days (ha ha ha) hope you're feeling better soon

Pat- sorry for your sister, it must be heartbreaking for her

Moose- you made me laugh with 'cling to my front like a monkey'! DS is a bit like that atm too for SF woman though

elkie- arrgh that is so awful- how can they leave people without heating? Monday is a long time when it's so cold let alone when children are poorly.

stripey/hkz- glad to know there's 2 more yeahyeahyeah fans on here!

hkz- hope all goes well on thursday.

tinkisnotlongtillchristmas · 28/11/2009 08:43

morning off to clarks -

good work tree

hope ur feeling better dog

stripeywoollenhat · 28/11/2009 10:08

morning all

so c has decided that today is the day to start crawling. i have already had to rescue her from the cat's bowl, a pair of dirty shoes and my laptop. or the other way round, i guess...

dog, i hope you are feeling better. and that you are recovered, tree.

pat, am so sorry for your sister and her partner - i hope they can work something out...

no snow here but it is freezing and a bit foggy

moosemama · 28/11/2009 12:10

Morning,

Dh likes the Yeah Yeah Yeahs as well, never heard of them myself. He said screaming women rock angst was a very apt description.

Well done Tree! Hope you treated yourself in Gap rather than spending on the dds.

Elkie, sorry to to hear your dc's have been so poorly, glad they are on the mend though. Grr for the boiler thing though, fancy leaving you with no heating for the whole weekend when you have two poorly children at home! My parent's boiler gave up the ghost yesterday morning as well, so had my sister and nephew round here to keep warm and have showers. Not sure if its fixed yet, as Mum is away and last I heard from my sd was that British Gas was supposed to be coming out yesterday afternoon.

Ds2 has gone downhill again. He looks truly awful, really pale with big black rings under his eyes. I have him on the sofa with his baby blanket watching Santa Clause 2 at the moment and will probably try to keep him there for most of the day if I can. Poor thing is desperate to get back to school and not miss all the Christmassy stuff, but its not looking hopeful. The problem is, I'm not sure exactly what's wrong. His chest was clear at the doctors, if I ask him to cough, there's no crackle, but he is beyond exhausted and has had a really bad stomach in the middle of the night for 4 nights in a row now. He doesn't seem to be able to do anything without wearing himself out. Just the two minute walk to the school yesterday wiped him out completely. He doesn't seem 'acute' enough for the out of hours GP to see him, but I'm worrying there's something more serious brewing and don't want him to go downhill.

Other than that, I am slowly being driven mad as I was foolish enough to buy ds1 the 50th Special Edition Nintendo Magazine yesterday and he has spent the entire time since he left school reading it to me and saying "I want that game and that one and that one .... etc" aargh! I should've known better.

Am also in a flap about christmas presents for family. Have bought everything for our dcs and its all been delivered, but not one item for anyone else. I've spent hours looking, but am totally uninspired - and broke!
