April 2007 - The one where we despair about coughs and colds; sickness bugs; cheeky behaviour and the amount of tinsel and fairy lights ALREADY in the shops!!

SOL, T started telling us he'd had dreams as an excuse to get into bed with us, but there are times that he does have bad dreams I think. We've made sure he goes to bed with his dog, bernie, and said if he has a dream he doesn't like he should wake bernie, who'll go woof woof woof and scare the dream away. Think it's working a little bit...
Sorry you're having stressful nights.
NL, I know exactly what you mean about feeling vulnerable.
oooggs, you are superwoman, I agree!
Well, miserable weather here today. Was meant to be meeting up with an MNer friend but she's ill and my DCs are gunky so we've cancelled...think it'll be a loooong day! Might have to figure out how to work the DVD player

Bramshott · 21/10/2009 09:48

Well said as ever NL!!

It seems as though lots of our April babies are having trouble sleeping at the moment - maybe it's their age . Actually I think that 2.5 is probably prime age for night fears / nightmares / terrors etc. O melted down at bedtime last night too - shrieking and kicking because she didn't want to go in the bath, then once she was out she DID want to go in the bath, then she didn't want to brush her teeth etc! At the bottom of it all is just that she doesn't particularly want to go to bed, because being up is more fun!!

Feeling human again today - just a 24 hour thing - hurrah!!!

Right, am going to try and stay off Mumsnet all morning and catch up with my backlog of work . . . .

StealthPolarBear · 21/10/2009 10:15

glad you're better bramshott

oooggs · 21/10/2009 11:12

I wasn't chasing praise just someone to chat to me after my bad day and supervise my wine drinking

Bramshott - glad things have picked up

NL - I am sure what you wrote will be perfect

katy - shame your meetup was cancelled

I have been into work today to discuss a career break!!!!!!! But big news is coming out tomorrow about the future of the Land Registry - so I am not applying until I know where I stand, may not have a job anyway!

Off to a school mums house for lunch. DH on nights next week which means he is here for breakfast tea & bedtime so much better for me the kids

Hope the sun is shining where you are

CaptainDippy · 21/10/2009 12:22

Doobydoo · 21/10/2009 20:15

I pantsing well can't keep upIn mid of movink lots of shoutynessness[from me!]
Knackered and too old for this. What I have read..[skimmed].Hope poorliuns getting better and NL I am thinking of your friends, how utterly sad. Also you have given such fab advice to us all.
Of course ds1[and less importantly us]loved King's school so we have put it as preference...22 miles there and back but we really don't want to move.If he gets in I need a Smeg fridge.Boden clothes and loafers and an SUV thing
My family are well weird about itThink they feel we are above ourselves and as ds1 hasn't had what they call a 'NORMAL CHILDHOOD' he shouldn't be so happy and ok having not been to skool most of his school lifeI am pissed off need to be careful now re lurkyloolas...just wish my 2 were treated the same as the other grandchild. Then again I have always been difficult![well not really]just too much like my birth mother
Anyway will log on again when we have moved!
Please take care all and behave yerselves

StealthPolarBear · 21/10/2009 20:48

Northernlurker · 21/10/2009 21:14

Hope the move goes well Dooby and lots of luck for ds with his place. I trust you've briefed him on the debating society

Doobydoo · 21/10/2009 21:25

haven't yet...I might tell him when he is 30 and allowed a weak lager shandy

captaincogsworth · 21/10/2009 21:27

Hello - quick hijack -hope you all don't mind. . .

SOL IT'S ME!!!!!

leakyR · 21/10/2009 22:38

Evening

Hope all the poorly people and little people are feeling better. I've had some kind of stomach-flu lurgy this week, mercifuuly the dc have escaped so far.

Iris 6m on Friday! Have been thinking about weaning. However G beat me to it today. We made chocolate cakes this afternoon. While I cleaned up I put G on the floor with the mixing bowl and spoon to lick. Iris was next to him in her bouncy chair. He pipes up with "My gived Iris some cake mammy" I turn to see her licking cake mix off her lip with a huge grin on her face! George then says "Deeeyicious Iris!" Not exactly the wholesome introduction to solid food I'd hoped for

StealthPolarBear · 22/10/2009 07:31

Morning everyone
Dooby, I didn't understand your post I'm afraid - DS1 going to a posh school I assume by the talk of SUVs & boden?? good for him!
Hi leaky, lol at the weaning!! I saw T striding towards the moses basket the other day with a raisin - marginally better food but at 4weeks not the recommended age
How's I doing?

Doobydoo · 22/10/2009 07:36

Not posh,he may get into a good one if his 11+score is high enough.Ranked highly in League tables and more importantly he likes it.I was joking really but family been rather odd.
Take care all.
Off to do mooooving.
x

StealthPolarBear · 22/10/2009 07:39

brilliant, and fantastic that he likes it (& so do you)
good luck mooooving (is that what cows do when they change fields? )

Northernlurker · 22/10/2009 08:05

When I was at school Kings did have some weekly boarding places - maybe that's why they think it's 'posh'?

StealthPolarBear · 22/10/2009 08:17

morning nl how are you?

oooggs · 22/10/2009 10:54
