oh steaky, no wonder you're head is like a big pile of mince - absolutely in order for you to disappear - its all still very soon and fresh and you're correct to tread carefully

sorry about the job by the way - silly feckers!

we're watching the PMC final as we missed it last night - did I mention we were at Fleetwood Mac

luckoftheirish · 23/10/2009 20:37

dh had a dog called rocky and it was a girl so he cannot get his head around his bro calling his boy that hee hee.. i guess it will grow on us all.. dh gran who is 87 is a bit bewildered tho ...

steaky, definitely take some time out from mansteak when he is over if you need to.. you need to protect yourself.. you are doing so well!!!

iwascyteenagewerewolf · 23/10/2009 20:39

NO it would not be wrong at all. And I'm sure he'd love a whole day with his DD.

Well done for protecting yourself even though it is hard. You are a very wise lady. Hang on to that impulse during his visit

steaknifethroughtheheart · 23/10/2009 20:39

I should probably stop listening to The Cure, not exactly jolly music.

But it is sooooooooo good for moping to.

dizzydixies · 23/10/2009 20:39

ah sod right girls not playing nice, will catch up properly tomorrow hopefully - last day with the Sazz crew tomorrow so we'll try to make it a good one

iwascyteenagewerewolf · 23/10/2009 20:41

Wallowing is always allowed steak

Good luck with your girls dizzy...DS has a bit of a temp tonight so I'm keeping an extra ear out, poor little sausage.

steaknifethroughtheheart · 23/10/2009 20:45

I think there is some Dr Who confidential on in a bit so an hour or so of The Tenn should cheer me up before bed. And I treated myself to sea bream for dinner - cooked in butter with leek and mushrooms, yum, oh and some wine left from last night.

Lifes not so bad.

BucketsOfBlood · 23/10/2009 21:59

Hmm Steaky The Cure are the most romantic band in the world if you listen to their lyrics so yes, maybe put them away for a bit. Def escape when he comes, go up to Ikea and have lunch with Sazzles and Ataraxis if she's around. And get This Charming Man by Marian Keyes from the library to cheer you up.

OK, have ordered kitchen units, has taken me 2hrs! Just hope there is enough credit on DH's card...

Congrats on your new DNeph LOTI. Maybe they'll cave in and go for Rocco with Rocky as a Nickname.

BucketsOfBlood · 23/10/2009 22:01

Or some Stephanie Plum slapstick bounty hunter capers by Janet Evanovitch - great LOL stuff for a grey day.

poppysocks · 23/10/2009 22:22

Just a super quick dash on to send lots of from sazzles. With dizzy stashed away awith Fleetwood Mac my girls and I had a the family sazzles to ourselves () for a lovely lunch. DD1 in seventh heaven with sazzles' DD1 and Mr Sazz was a star keeping an eye on them so that we coud attempt a conversation. Not so easy with two wandering, tired toddlers but lovely nonetheless..

ann - so for you and S. Sounds really horrible and unimaginably frightening Hope he's better today and you have a reasonable night.

As incredibly as things are with mansteak, steaky, you are so wise to get things straight before he arrives. And definitely right to take some time away. You need a rest and he needs to understand what it's like for you being with her 100% of the time and to have his own relationship with I.

Hi and bye to everyone else . Night all!

MiamlaMwahHahahahahaaaaaaa · 23/10/2009 22:40

evening all

steak i absolutely agree with the others, well done on protecting yourself

off to finish tidying my socks

question that DP has reminded me to ask you all...especially midnight.... how would you pronounce the boy's name 'Sazed'?

now i really am off to finish tidying my socks...rock and roll!

UndeadLentil · 23/10/2009 22:53

Hi Poppy. Sounds like you had a lovely time.

Ann, what an awful experience. My sisters have varying strengths of the thing Cyteen mentioned and I remember my youngest sister stopping breathing a few times when we were small. Very frightening.

Steaky, he liked the good bits? If someone who had signed up 'for better and for worse' said that to me I would be in bits too.

But you know you were so strong to ask him and you are speaking from a place of strength now. The difference in your voice since you established your new base is really palpable.

I think it is an excellent idea to escape for a while, and give yourself chances to regroup, while mansteak is around.

Off to Angleterre tomorrow for a few family days and to meet up with my Leeds gang (we'll be planning our 20 year college reunion [gulp]).

I won't be let touch the computer at the pil's as obviously I am virus-addled. You can tell just by looking at me.

Hoping to hook back up on Wednesday though.

I hope DD1 is feeling better TS.

Did my phd on ideas about voices, identity and power.
Trust me I'm a doctor and all that.

What essential bit of kit have I forgotten?

OP posts:
itshotterinhell · 23/10/2009 23:11

I hope you are not actually coming to Leeds without arranging some kind of meet up

UndeadLentil · 23/10/2009 23:56

Calm down, dear.
Leeds meet is 20 somethingth of July.

This week is ILs, parents, beloved grandmother and much puffing around on trains. I promise, promise, promise to meet up in July.

I haven't been in England since July 07, so catching up is all I can manage this time sadly.

itshotterinhell · 23/10/2009 23:57

OK I'll let you off [phew]

Hope you have a lovely time and I promise to tell you my 15 books before you get home

lwfhthevampireslayer · 24/10/2009 00:04

oooh, I could be in Leeds on the 20 somethingth of July - in fact will be there on the 30th for a wedding.

UndeadLentil · 24/10/2009 00:25

Before I sign off here, just bawling my eyes out at pics of my friend in America's first pics online of the baby girl she has adopted from Ethiopia.

So incredibly happy for her.

Sazed at first glance...I would say it sounds like Dazed (like Dazed & Confused by Led Zeppelin). Just remove the D and put in the sssss sound. If I think about it longer I can see it sounding like Sah-zed or maybe even Sah-zeed. That's what I would think WITHOUT RESEARCH. WITH RESEARCH I found it to be pronounced SAY-zed by author Brandon Sanderson as it is a character of his.

MidnightSlayer · 24/10/2009 12:45

WHERE IS EVERYBODY!!!!?????!!!!!

itshotterinhell · 24/10/2009 17:14

Crikey this must be the slowest day on this thread since November 2007

Am a bit pissed after spending the afternoon drinking Pinot Grigio with lovely friends while the DC ran riot just got to not sober up too much before DC bedtime then I can carry on boozing. Not usually a white wine drinker but it was yummy and I don't have black teeth, which must be a result in anyone's book

MidnightSlayer · 24/10/2009 19:32

LOL HP you crack me up!!!

dizzydixies · 24/10/2009 20:04

ladies am a little sad as have just waved goodbye to the lovely family Sazz they have been an absolute joy to have here and we shall miss them terribly - I was trying to convince them to move a touch more to the north or at least buy a wee holiday home

has been a great visit, the girls are an absolute delight, Mr Sazz is utterly charming and even when we took the up to the local viewing point and we couldn't see further than 5ft due to the thick fog they still smiled and looked like they were enjoying themselves

so, ladies, positive and safe and easy dricing thoughts as they head off home on a 7hr drive [meep]

itshotterinhell · 24/10/2009 20:20

TS I am glad you find my borderline alcoholism amusing I fell asleep while sitting in DS' room waiting for him to go to sleepand those 5 minutes have perked me right up again. Next door came round earlier to let us know they were having a party, might crash it in a bit

Dizz glad you had a lovely time with the Sazzes, but we will be happy to see you both back on the thread where you really belong. It's been very quiet without you

dizzydixies · 24/10/2009 20:25

well after tonight I'll be good to go and I'm only in work Mon and Tues next week so should have time to catch up properly

think once the girls are in bed, we're watching the end of the dancing - am going to spend evening with DH (now that his man friend is away) and try to get our heads round what we need to do over the next wee while

MIL has apparently got a dislocated disc in her back so trip to NY a touch in jepordy AND I mangaed to have a shitey argument with my counsin yesterday which has left me all a touch over sensitive about family issues so thank goodness Sazz was here so that I didn't dwell on it

shall also post recipe for lemon curd muffins tomorrow too
