Obs I rate Gap Jeans also.

Pinky gosh that was an odd gift from your M - good that you are succeeding in letting go from the clutches of your family. You sound very strong.
Coolkat good luck with your mum - how awful for her. Hope she's OK?

Lovely xmas here spent with my parents and my sis and her 4-month old baby. The Plumster spent the entire time showing off her impressive walking skills to my parents, and also snogging her cousin in a Vulcan-like death grip. She just loves hugging, kissing and patting baby boys...it's v.sweet.

Hana pity your folks/IL's don't offer to help more. I always feel we miss out living in London when all my family live very close together in the midlands. My mum babysits for my sister every week, and also looks after her baby several times a week for a couple of hours so she can work (riding instructor). I guess it's our choice. In fact, since we've found out we're expecting twins, we're considering a move up to the mids to be nearer family. Just can't decide - it's a massive move.

Our house is going on market next week as we really do need to move before the twins arrive.

Anyway, enough rambling. Hope everyone has a lovely NYE. we are staying in and being lazy.
Happy new year!

twinklingfairy · 31/12/2009 00:26

Oh, how exciting, but a bit scary monkey a move.
We are hoping that we might be able to organise a private sale of our house. DH has been out tonight telling his sister that Feb would be good for us.
My parents look to be headed to the USA in March, so we will just sell up and move into their place until the get back. It givs us 6 mothns to find something and to do a little saving.
Here's hoping it all works out as I want it to.
Though heaven knows where all our stuff would go!!

That is a shame Yorky that everone is frightened to talk about your pregnancy.
I lost something at 6 weeks too. I say something cos it was never confirmed if it was a baby or not. J survived through it all though. But I would have been happy to hear of others joys though, even through it.
But that is just me.

hana I am happy to hear you say that things are looking up for you and your DH. Here's hoping it keeps going that way.

Do you know, I haven't any pictures of J walking. What a distance he can get now

AutumnLady · 31/12/2009 08:07

morning all

Firstly, Merry Christmas to everyone and sorry it's taken me so long I am only on quickly on my NEW laptop (thanks mum and dad!) but James is trying to bash it with a fireman....

Just wanted to say a big thank you to my SS! I am looking forward to a lovely bath with my very cute candle (which is almost too cute to burn) and my new punk bath duck. James has taken a fancy to the duck already so we are sharing! But thank yoyu again for a lovely present.

Will catch up more later once I have a chance and hope everyone is ok
xx

festivenameneeded · 31/12/2009 08:45

Good Morning
yorky must be difficult for you, but they will have to start acknowledging your pregnancy soon because before they know it your baby will be here.
Love all this talk of moving, I lovfe my house but would love a seperate room to put a dinning table as the kitchen is too small for the table we have in there and I am dancing round it trying to cook and clean.
hana glad to hear things have been better with you DH lately fingers crossed they continue to improve, as you say you at least have hope now.
What are everyones new year resolutions?
I think mine will be
To be more organised rofl!
To get more exercise
To try and get millie into a creche for at least a few hours a week (so I can get stuff done)
Thats all I can think of just now, hope everyone has a great new year when it comes!

Phee96 · 31/12/2009 10:53

Hi everyone, I hope you all had a good Christmas. Happy New Year to all for tonight!

MonkeyMargot Huge congratulations! Hope you are doing well. You too Yorky

We had a good Christmas. Made homemade After Dinner mints for the adults this year instead of buying gifts as we're so skint. Most appreciated the thought, those that didn't are off the list for next year ;)

A has gone back to not sleeping. We've got less than 8 weeks until DC2 is due so am getting very worried and have started a thread here

love to everyone I have missed

LadyBuzz · 31/12/2009 13:31

Hi everyone, for some reason I can't get into MN from my laptop so I am sneaking on at MILs but only have a couple of minutes.
I have had a quick read through.

Sorry to hear of peoples family issues, christmas can be such a strange time.

Well done Twinks J on the walking.

coolkat hope your mum is OK.

hana sounds promising hope it works out for you both.

Happy New Year to everyone hope 2010 brings everyone good Luck, Good Health and happiness.

We are having a family New Year this year and I am very much looking forward to it. I usually hate New year and just cannot be bothered with the hype!

Must dash I have buffett to make! hopewfully I will be able to get back on at home soon.

ChocOrange05 · 31/12/2009 20:01

Hi all

Happy New Year! We are all well (despite M's short stint in intensive care last week - to cut a long story short - pneumonia caused a seizure, for which medication caused him to stop breathing, so intensive care for 20 hours then on a ward for another day, then antibiotics and sent home, amazing how quickly he recovered, was terrifyingly scary but he's fine now) and had a lovely christmas. M loves his My First Toolbox from Hamleys and all his books - he got his first Thats Not My... book and he adores it.

We are spending NYE in watching a film, FIL decided he wanted to go out (despite living on his own and being able to go out any other day of the year ) but DH is also ill with cold so cuddling on the couch is in order.

M is cruising along in his Clarks shoes - I succumbed to the cold feet reason too, but no walking yet. His most exciting achievement is learning to kiss with proper pouty lips. Its very cute! Oh and point and say "dat" when he wants something.

Anyway, happy new year to all - lovely to see so many of you still on here. Enjoy the rest of 2009 and the start of 2010!

Ceebee74 · 31/12/2009 20:30

Happy New Year to you all

Hana I am very embarrassed that my fave jeans are from an 'older' ladies range God, I really am becoming middle aged

Hamster also got some 'That's not my....' books for Christmas and he loves them. We already had Snowman, Bear and Tractor and we bought him Train and Monkey ones. DS1 still loves them even though he is 3.5!!

Staying in tonight with a bottle of wine and a film (DH has decided we are going to watch Night at the Museum 2 as he loved the first one ) and I very much doubt I will still be awake at midnight!!

Anyway, have a lovely evening xx

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 31/12/2009 21:53

Hey ChocO sorry to hear M has been poorly but yay that he is better and got better quickly (DD had to be bluelighted to hospital when she was 9.5months; very very scary but four hours later she was crawling around on the floor like nothing had happened)

Chilling watching Lara Croft here; I cooked a bloody lovely meal for us that we had after the DC were in bed (smoked salmon mousse, rack of lamb with butternut squash roasted in butter and chilli flakes, sugar snap peas and new potatoes followed by chocolate souffle with raspberries and cream and washed down with a couple of bottles of bloody good Rioja)

thanks to non sleeping DC and a day of grumpiness all round, it's looking unlikely that we will make it to midnight, but as I'm not in Scotland and missing the Scottish New Year it doesn't seem like such a big thing anyway.

Resolutions.....

shout less
swear less in vicinity of DC
lose 3.5 stone
be more organised
GET A JOB!!!!

coolkat · 31/12/2009 22:08

Hi Ladies

Just a quick one to say have a good new year. I will be in bed before midnight too

Mum ok, should be moving out next week.

Love to all.
Coolkat X

MonkeyMargot · 31/12/2009 22:20

Happy new year all.
choc poor you and mack - must have been so frightening for all of you. Thank god he's well now.

lacks your meal tonight sounds amazing. We had an indian takeaway then watched Quantum of Solace - Daniel Craig is such a hottie.

Phee - wow only 8 weeks til you're due - I'd totally missed that you were expecting - congrats! Hope you're feeling ok - gosh yours will be so close in age, be lovely for them.

coolkat good new re. your mum. Is she going back to her boyfriend?

Reet - I am off to bed. Have never, ever before missed singing auld lange syne but tonight my friends I am making the most of the sleeping hours....

P.S. Since C.P started walking, she has been sleeping for an extra one-two hours per night which means she sometimes doesn't wake til 7:30-8am. This is a real treat. I only mention this as it might give hope to those who are still not getting enough sleep.

ceebee forget the target market woman - if the jeans fit well and make you feel good, sod it. I am totally in the fashion wilderness these days. I have given up until next year and then I will contact Trinnt & Susannah .

night all and happy 2010 x

Cricri · 01/01/2010 07:24

Happy New Year to all you lovely ladies! I managed to stay awake to see the new year in but E decided to wake up at 11.15pm and we couldn't re-settle her so she was up too. She was quite mesmerised by Jools Holland and also the firework display. Then at 12.30 she went back to sleep without any problems so she obviously knew something was up and didn't want to miss out!
Coolkat Good news about your mum. Hope she's OK though.
Choc How scary for you all but so pleased M is OK and made such a swift recovery.
Lacks Sounds like you had a lovely meal. DH cooked us a lovely meal too, he's such a sweetie.
Phee Wow, only 8 weeks to go! Hope you manage to find something that works for you with the sleeping. No advice here I'm afraid, E still wakes at least once in the evening and then a couple of times at night. However, as MM mentioned, since she started walking she's not waking before 8am which is great! Long may that continue at least.
"That's not my..." books are also a fave here. She's also got some French picture books which have a sound chip embedded on each page and when you press it you get the animal noise or whatever. I haven't seen anything like that over here unfortunately but they really are fab.
Oh and we got E her first pair of shoes earlier this week too. The guy in Clarks said that she wasn't stable enough when walking on her own (admittedly she walks a maximum of 10 steps on her own but she's getting increasingly confident and her progress within just a couple of days has been amazing) and suggested postponing buying her shoes for at least a couple of weeks, but I insisted as I wanted her to be able to walk outside, holding my hand if necessary. So yesterday the shoes had their first outing as she tottered round the playground over the road and the garden
Hope everyone has a good day today - we're off to my mum's for some more food

PinkyMinxyPie · 01/01/2010 17:00

Hi all

Happy New Year!

Choc sorry to hear of terrible poorliness, glad he is now back to his old self.

Went to friends house for new years, acres of children all over the place it was great fun, then back home to put DC's to bed, and DH and I did manage to stay up til midnight, though DD1 was woken at 4 am by neighbours letting off bangers in the street. I opened our window and used my best schoolmaam voice to ask them to stop, and they did

Ceebee74 · 01/01/2010 17:37

I was in bed by 10.45 last night - then DS1 got up about 15 minutes later and was sick, then another 15 minutes later DH came to bed and then at midnight loads of fireworks went off so I didn't really get to sleep until after midnight!!

Cricri they do make those books in England as we have an animal one - but I have seen loads of different ones (including an ITNG one which was really cool). I will try and find a link to them.

Anyway, diet starts again tomorrow - am dreading stepping on the scales to see what the damage is of 3 weeks eating whatever I felt like!! Ah well, this time last year I had 4 stone to lose and I reckon it will be about 1 stone now so that is nowhere near as daunting

Ceebee74 · 01/01/2010 17:40

here is the one I have. 'Noisy noisy' books they are called.

this is the ITNG one my friend has.

MummyNic · 01/01/2010 17:53

Happy New Year Everyone!!!

Sorry for the lack of posts - James & I have both had d&v then it was off to bonny Scotland for a very white Christmas with the inlaws. We had a wonderful time and it was a joy to make a snowman - very rare for us southerners!!!

Thank you for my Secret Santa - hand care set is exactly what my poorly chapped hands need - it will be used very quickly!!!

Sorry I haven't had a chance to catch up - our house is a tip and I need more storage boxes to divide Mr Pickle's toys up so he doesn't bored / overwhelmed.

Santa was very good to him and he has money for his bank account which is great too.

Takes care and my New Years Resolution is to check in more often!!!

Happy New Year one and all

loving the octopus suggestion hana, and "that's not my baby...." especially as those books are popular here too, and being an ex usborne seller I have a few of them! the only issue I have is that in the puppy one, we like the furry eared puppy better than the one that is meant to be ours!!!

Lovely day here, although bumble is exhausting at the minute; he is forever climbing onto the windowsill, pulling DD's toys apart, climbing on the sofa, shaking the living room shelves, banging on the TV screen, trying to pull baubles off the tree, shaking the curtains so the curtain rail rattles, pulling everything off shelves, pulling DD's hair, tormenting the cat....in a constant "groundhog 20 minute" loop. and if he is in the kitchen.....the spice drawer is the most exciting place in the universe and the recycling bin great to empty out all over the floor. I'm exhausted.

busy weekend ahead here; DH is watching the little ones, and I'm taking DS1 shopping for new clothes and trainers tomorrow then we are off to see ~Where the Wild Things Are and then going for sushi afterwards. He is really excited about the sushi! then GPs on sunday anmd back to normal next week....how I will cope without my hours nap when DH is back at work I don't know!

love to all xx

Hana am loving that final suggestion - brilliant!!

We are also fans of the books and now have the Penguin one courtesy of Father Christmas which is really lovely. The shaggy eared dog is of course far superior to our scraggy real dog (margot!). ALthough C.P absolutely loves kissing and hugging the poor mutt - she is very patient about it.

Lacks Bumble sounds full of beans!! I don't even want to hear about how knackering it is looking after 3 bambinos - I am in a river in Egypt at present (deNial...)

hana congrats on being hostess with mostess. I have been crap on that front of late. Went round to our gay-bours for cheeky glass of champagne this lunchtime to celebrate the 2010 and the twins news. A treat for me indeed!

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 01/01/2010 19:40

that's not my baby....it's mind is its own

that's not my baby....it's feet are too toddly

Ceebee74 · 01/01/2010 20:19

Love the 'that's not my baby....it's an octopus' title

daisy Bumble sounds like my DS1 was as a baby - and he is not much easier now (sorry!) Hamster, otoh, is SO much easier to look after - he doesn't fiddle with things, understands the word 'no', doesn't seem to be a one-baby destruction unit that his brother was - tis lovely!! His most annoying habit is a persistant need to turn over and sit up whilst on the nappy unit - it is almost like a inbuilt thing as he does it every time regardless of however many times I lie him back down but compared to how DS1 is/was, that is very minor!!

When he was younger, DS1 used to love finding the mouse on each page of his 'That's not my....' books.

MonkeyMargot · 01/01/2010 20:34

That's not my baby, it's bottom is too stinky.
That's not my baby, it's tantrums are too insufferable.
That's not my baby, it's appetite is akin to that of a small horse.

Yorky · 01/01/2010 21:04

Loving the 'that's not my baby' suggestions - have just read them all to DH who is trying to do yoga on the wii, can't decide if its a good or bad thing that he got the giggles and his centre of gravity was all over the place, I thought it was funny but the computer 'trainer' told him off!

that you only have 8wks left Phee, it seems to have flown by. How are you feeling? 20 wk scan a week today

Had a good day here, DH had an awful night with DD, apparently I slept through him bringing her into our room to avoid her disturbing DS twice! so we all had a nap after an early lunch then went to ikea so now I'm all nesty and full of plans for doing their room - he thinks we'll stay here longer than we'd initially thought so it feels more worth making the house our own

Hoping you all have a happy new year anyway
