Oh go on then.

I'm rubbish at titles though but I bow down to Oli's cakes and supermum.

Hi EV

Hope the holiday was good AQ.

Why is it so cold? My fingers are white (fecking reynauds), lit the fire. Need to clean the bathroom but am waiting until my fingers behave as it is cold in there so it will make them hurt!

Must do some baking, have run out of cake and bscuits....now who's fault could that possibly be........

Argh!

I've been joking for a while that I want my friend to quit her job so I can have it. Anyway she has got a promotion and has let me know that her old job is now being advertised. She had thought when she was first promoted that her replacement would be part time as she was still covering some of her old duties but it isn't, it is full time.

Do I go for it?

It is 6th form guidance so basically pastoral care for the 6th formers. Kicking them up the arse, helping them with university applications etc. I really wanted it to be part time . The take home pay on the lowest band (which I imagine I would be for now) is equal to what nursery would cost so absolutely no extra money but I suppose I would at least be paying NI contributions and hopefulyy I would progress up the scale in time.

I sort of want to but I'm really not sure about full time, I would love something 2 or 3 days a week. Plus I am so nervous, don't feel qualified to do anything, I can see myslef sitting there and not having a clue what I'm supposed to be doing. Everyone I started university with/went to school with has proper jobs- Drs, lawyers, teachers, translators etc. I just feel as though I'd be sitting in an interview with them wondering why on earth I was there.

Indith - why dont you apply and if they offer you the job you could ask them if they would consider 4 days pw. It would be very good experience for you.

castlesintheair · 12/05/2010 17:04

Is it what you want to do long-term Indith or is it leading somewhere? Unless they can offer you p/t I'd wait. Although doing what Evye suggests is a good idea.

Been busy and neglectful hope you are all well.

How was the holiday AQ? Go anywhere good?
I have just booked part 1 of our summer, which comes at the end.

Indith · 12/05/2010 17:35

I'm not sure about long term Castles. Student support/pastoral care has been the main idea for a while but I don't know. I've really enjoyed doing the bf peer support and I hope that more training will be available with that as we get going, I do wonder about going inthat direction or even going back to university and doing midwifery but I don't want to make a decision about that until children are older to make sure it isn't just because I'm at taht point where birth and bf etc is important to me.

I probably need to apply even if just to try to have an interview and remind myself that I am a real person!

I'm here just distracted with work atm.

I understand where you are coming from Indith. 4 days a week is all I can handle.

I'm off to take the boys to the dentist. Hoping for an uneventful checkup.

Indith · 12/05/2010 17:54

Goog luck Jabber! We went last week, ds screamed lots and refused point blank to open his mouth, I have more dark spots on my wisdom teeth which may or may not be decay (she offered to take x-rays but I went for the cheaper option of wait and see) and dh needed some treatment so ended up costing us over £60. I miss my exemption card!

Lol. I just saw advice to Indith from 'MyNeighbourTotoro' and agreed in my head that it was very sensible....then realised it was me

Indith - interview alone would be good experience. Dont not apply just because of a ? over the hours. If they like you enough they may be flexible and if not then nothing lost.

Indith · 13/05/2010 14:32

EV, I was considering changing my name but I think I'll have the same issue! May do it anyway though, feel the need for a change.

Feeling less inclined to apply today. Can't really work full time, have dcs in full time childcare for precisely not extra money (prob less since I suppose CTC would reduce). Could still go for it jsut for the interview practice but I would need to buy a suit which I can't afford

DidYouDoThisOnMyHead · 13/05/2010 14:44

What do you think?

Lenni · 13/05/2010 17:31

I'm confused Who are you all?

Indith - just another perspective, I wouldn't do it just for the interview practice, I would only do it if you want the job. Won't go into details but I had an interview for a post I couldn't take before Christmas and it was a horrible, stressful experience and in the end the interviewers were quite rightly annoyed that I had put myself forward for a post I had no intention of taking. I would still apply but discuss P/T options with them before you apply and make it clear on your application that you would prefer flexible working. But that is said entirely from my own experience of looking for P/T and I expect I have missed out on posts that I could have got if I had been less transparent.

If you are interested in student support what about approaching your old uni contacts to see if there is anything temporary in September that could give you a taster?

DidYouDoThisOnMyHead · 13/05/2010 19:02

Thanks Lenni.

I am me! (Indith). This name change thng is confusing, I look at threads I'm on and think someone else has posted since my post but of course it is just me. Maybe I'm just dim.

MyNeighbourTotoro · 13/05/2010 20:28

I am EV

weirdbird · 14/05/2010 13:34

Hello all

Sorry I keep forgetting to come and post!

Lol

Got very caught up in all the election run up and getting involved, but was so tired on the night I ended up in bed before the polls closed!

Am 23 weeks now and if you go on months then I would say I am now 5 months woohooo. Why do I always forget how much I hate being pregnant?

I love that I am far more relaxed and my hormones are very sorted (ironically far more than they are normally) but I hate feeling so very physically uncomfortable, my back/hips fall apart, my ankles swell up, I get chronic acid indigestion from the hiatus hernia, I start feeling like I should rattle from indigestion, I fart like a old man and it just seems to go on for EVER!

Oh and most importantly, I want to drink and go out dancing!!!!!

Indith - Try looking in charity shops if you need a new outfit or ebay you can normally pick up a bargain if you persever, I would say go for the interview just to get some experience even if you are not sure of the job, you often get a clear idea in a interview what it would be like as well, you don't have to take the job even if they offer it to you!

Am also at you meeting up

AQ - Hope you had a good holiday?

Ooohhh - Almost forgot, we are meant to be having a boy

jabberwocky · 14/05/2010 13:45

WB, congrats on being over half-way there!

Indith, both boys had good checkups but total bill was $378! I've never taken them both at the same time before so it was a bit of a shock.

DidYouDoThisOnMyHead · 16/05/2010 10:38

Hi WB!

Ouch Jabber, would it be cheaper do you think to just take all their teeth out and replace them with implants?

I'm sleepy. Went out with the MN lot last night. Couldn't drink as was driving but still very sleepy.

jabberwocky · 16/05/2010 15:25

lol, that would be dh! Every visit seems to mean a new crown. He's going on Thursday and I still haven't paid off the credit card from his visit last year

very of MN night out.

weirdbird · 17/05/2010 10:55

Well I have DD1 off school today as she has caught my horrible cold and although she is feeling a lot better in herself she is sooooo deaf that she can only hear you if you shout at her!

Am hoping another day of rest and steaming her head will help!

So yes, no toddler group or anything else for us today and shame on me as I am still in my PJ's as I have no pressing need to get dressed, oh dear...

jabberwocky · 18/05/2010 13:21

Hope dd is feeling better, wb. I would have liked to have stayed in yesterday! One of those Mondays where you wonder what happened to the weekend.

accessorizequeen · 18/05/2010 20:22

Yay at enjoying your pg, wb, what do your dd's think of things? My 6yo ds1 is soooo in love with his sister, her twin's not getting a look in. It must be the girlyness he likes, she's besotted with him too. Makes up for the infighting between him and ds2 I guess.

holiday was fab, thank you all, we want more holidays! I am still in relaxed holiday mode or is that the upped AD dosage? Whatever, not yelling or crying plus sleeping well for first time in months. I have nearly cracked diet coke addiction, down to 2 a week when I'm at work. I think it was having a bad bad effect on me. I slept half the weekend away as I guess all the caffeine had worn off (only had dts).
where is everyone and what are you doing? I am freecycling half of our garage, just had a water pump and sandbags collected, don't think we'd ever used sandbags fgs. DP hanging onto the nerdy computer stuff still tho.

weirdbird · 18/05/2010 22:56

Ohh AQ I would have had your sandbags, but then we have come close more times than I care to think about having our garage flooded, the house is fine as it is raised up a step, but for obvious reasons the garage is not...

My eldest DD keeps forgetting I am pg, wheras younger DD keeps talking about mummies bump, lol

But then my 2 DD are so besotted with each other being 5 years apart that I think they will both be like that with the younger one, DD2 loves babies and DD1 has soooo much patience and time and always has done with DD2 I can't imagine she will be any different with another one, though it is a boy so who can say!!

DidYouDoThisOnMyHead · 19/05/2010 14:39

Well done on the coke habit AQ! Glad you are still all relaxed, must feel good

Last night dd slept! All night! 6.30pm til 7am! This weekend they go in together and we get our spare room back. I am really looking forward to sorting boxes, getting a table up there and getting all my craft stuff out and organised Plus dh should be getting a bonus next month which I have informed him is going to be spent on wardrobes. I'm dreaming of a house with stuff actually put away.

I'm pretty convinced now that my bad patches are cycle linked now (the sleep certainly seems to be helping!) so I think that when I see the Dr on Friday I am going to start ocming off the ADs and maybe get myslef some evening primrose to see if that helps the PMT.

castlesintheair · 19/05/2010 14:50

lol about AQ's coke habit. Mine too! Read somewhere on here that someone lost loads of weight by giving it up. Needless to say, I stopped drinking it immediately. Haven't noticed much difference though

Was meant to meet Eli today but my pita wonderful DCs are off school with a virus. Grr! Praying for their return tomorrow.

Agree about cycles Indith. I take loads of supplements and it makes a difference. Apart from the odd anxiety attack (haven't had one for ages) I can control it this way.

DidYouDoThisOnMyHead · 20/05/2010 10:31

6.30pm to 6.15am!

Oh yes, fear my new found energy levels!

Actually I'm bored stiff today. Roll on bedtime

weirdbird · 20/05/2010 22:49

I am off tomorrow for a while weekend with no children with my female friends, am not sure what this is going to be like being that I won't be drinking and this always features quite heavily and I feel like the size of a house and will be in a single bed, but hey, no children, no housework and probably no cooking!!!
