Oh go on then.

I'm rubbish at titles though but I bow down to Oli's cakes and supermum.

Hey.....surfacing from a week (or is it more??) of unpacking boxes, and v sorry to see the lost jobs, lost sleep, stress and s.

Haven't tracked back end of last thread (good one, Indith, starting new one btw) so not sure whats going on, but will raise my post-lunch decaf to the 'jobs, sleep and happiness by end of thread' toast.

Magnolia, great to see you

Nothing huge to report here, everything external surprisingly settled, considering we moved after 12 years less than 3 weeks ago, but have to admit I'm internally unsettled still and keep driving to old house by mistake

EVye · 06/10/2009 17:37

Hello All.

Nice to see you back Magnolia.

Sorry to hear about castles and magnolia having a hard time.

Potty training here - wees excellent. No accidents really. Poos another matter and she now asks for a nappy, does a poo in it and then asks me to change her. She WILL NOT go on the loo and holds it in until it hurts

But hey. Everything else ok atm.

VeryHungryLennipillar · 07/10/2009 21:03

I met a lovely MNer today at the zoo, very glamourous she was with a gorgeous DS who charmed DD (and taught her all manner of funny faces which she has practised to perfection on the way home) and I hear she is a pretty good cake maker too Had a lovely day, and the DCs managed to stay awake on the way home so no big bedtime battles either - phew.

Hope things ok Castles - have you in my thoughts often when on here, good to hear from you even if only in passing.

Eli - hope you stop driving to the old house soon, and hope you get to love being somewhere else, once you find somewhere else - how long are you planning to rent? Is Oxford still an option? If you ever make it there I promise to visit being as my family are still all there. I'll just visit you though if that's ok? Ha, ha, actually my Mum hasn't been so bad lately must be something wrong with her!!

Poos were DD's weak point too EVye, still are occasionally.

Daily aka M - did DD understand the summer presents when they happened? Am not sure how I'd explain it to her.

Olihan · 07/10/2009 22:12

Glamorous I had my dog walking fleece on . I can't believe your 2 stayed awake, ds2 fell asleep before we even hit the main road! I'm going to put the komodo picture on FB, it's too funny not to share . Twas very lovely to meet you at last though and you're pretty nice yourself , with your angelic ds and gorgeous dd. DS2 was equally taken by her - he wanted to know if you were coming again tomorrow. I still haven't quite recovered from the chimp experience, mind you .

for castles, feel free to offload if you need it.

Eli, I think it's hard to settle into a rental when you know it's only temporary. You'll be better when you have a 'proper' house, I should think.

Indith, any improvement in Dd's sleep with the DH experience?

VeryHungryLennipillar · 07/10/2009 22:21

I have just had another chortle at the chimp experience! Best bit was the old lady who was chuckling as she passed you "From the mouthes of babes" she said to me as she laughed. It was very funny even without your DS2 saying "I like it when he got hold of his willy Mummy"

Olihan · 07/10/2009 22:38

He was telling DH about the monkey 'biting the other one's bottom' . I'm so glad I'm not a female chimp....

VeryHungryLennipillar · 07/10/2009 22:40

No, didn't look pleasant. Although their manners were about the equivalent I expect here - weeing and pooing at will, rooting around for food and napping all day, groping themselves and others...

Olihan · 07/10/2009 23:08

Yup, average day in the Oli house too, especially weeing from a height - ds2 has that down to a fine art now.

TheDailyWail · 07/10/2009 23:14

Lenni - I don't know if I really explained it to her.

She thought dd1s party was for her and she has said "x was at my birthday" and when she looks at dd1s party photos she exclaims "My birthday cake!"

Elibean · 08/10/2009 16:59

wish I'd been at the zoo, sounds v educational!

True, about the rental, though 'proper house' may be a long way off...nothing for sale at all around here, and although we think prices will drop eventually, may not be for at least a year. Oxford...LenniEd, have to admit the idea has grown less attractive since my mother came to 'help' with the unpacking! But you never know. We're going for a few days of half term, to see what we think - staying at a hotel to get a new perspective, iyswim

Whereabouts are your family?

castlesintheair · 08/10/2009 17:20

lol at returning to your old house Eli, you sound like a cat

Thanks for the kind thoughts, am very touched. One horrible ordeal (DD1 being bullied at school ) has improved enormously this week. I think. Hope and pray

Need to do internet shop as car is bust but will be back later.

Elibean · 08/10/2009 17:46

Oh Castles not your lovely dd1. Girls or boys?

TheDailyWail · 08/10/2009 19:45

I wish these children could understand how bullying affects the whole family. I hope you've had some support at school.

I handed my notice in today - I'm not sure how I feel really. I'll miss my friends (not that there seems to be many staff left) but I'll be glad to be rid of the corporation.

jabberwocky · 09/10/2009 03:31

castles I hope the school gets it under control. We had a meeting yesterday at ds1's school. He's been stressed out by the new building and the ongoing construction noise. Many episodes of wetting his pants at school so far. I also made sure to mention that he has come home several times recently with other boys' lunch trash in his lunch box It seemed to be the start of bullying iykwim and I made it clear it was to be nipped in the bud.

Daily, it must be rather a relief to be done with them. Good luck in your new job venture.

I know I'm really terribly behind on the thread....will really try to catch up properly soon!

Indith · 11/10/2009 10:55

TDW I hope you feel more relaxed, happy and can get on with enjoying things once the work weight has been lifted.

Bullying is gorrible, horrible , horrible and I really hope that your repective schools take it seriously and that is is all resolved.

Zoo sounds like it was fab

I have been shopping for jeans. I own one pair of jeans and one pair of summer trousers and that is quite literaly it so I thought it was about time to do something about it. I have found a very comprehensive selection of skinny jeans in various forms but nothing that actually fits. Grrr.

Ds seems like he is turning into his mother's son. My mother used to get joint pains and I still do (she grew out of it in her 20s so hope for me yet!). It starts in the knee or elbow and if you don't catch it quickly enough with painkillers it spreads to the next joint. Used to get it while growing or especially tired. Anyway a couple of times this week ds has woken up at night and complained his knee is hurting. He is usually rubbish at these things and will answer yes to anything but he has been so specific with it

Dd's teeth have grown about 2 inches over night. Poor girl is so snotty, coughy, full of gunge, keeps sicking up, sleeping even worse than usual (didn't kick her bum in the end, disasterous evening then dh decided his knee wan't going to cope)and now has 2 quite sizable front teeth that were not there yesterday!

Thanks for the sympathy. Sob. DD1's teacher did seem to dismiss it as one incident which it certainly is not as it's been going on since nursery - it's a girl Eli and she's got a henchman now. At least they are aware now and DD1 isn't coming up with all manner of mystery ailments to miss school. There was me thinking it was the transition from Reception to Year 1

Daily, very pleased for you. You have definitely done the right thing by the sound of it.

Jabber, sorry to hear about your DS. Hope it is resolved too.

Indith, I sympathise. I buy 'interim' jeans from Next. I'm quite leggy, though definitely not waif-like and blubbery round the middle and the long bootcut ones suit me best. One day I shall buy something decent.

magnolia74 · 11/10/2009 13:11

Hows everyone doing with potty training?

ds1 is showing no signs of being ready at all.....
He will sit on the toilet, get tissue, pull the chain, wash hands but no wee. Then he will walk ino the front room and 2 minutes later pee all over the floor

He starts nursery in january and was hoping he would be dry by then....

Indith · 11/10/2009 14:35

Nothing but skinny in Next either Castles. I have thighs I don't want skinny! Nor do I want bootcut, I know what style suits me and it is a nice wide legged flare Hope school remains aware and dd starts enjoying it

oooh playdate here

Amapoleon · 11/10/2009 14:46

Hola! I haven't been on our thread for ages. We are potty training too, fine with wees but can't get ds to poo, he does the nappy trick too.

Anyway nice to see you all, I haven't got internet during the week as we have moved to Gibraltar and are renting until we have found somewhere to buy, so haven't bothered to get it installed. It's been quite liberating really

TheDailyWail · 11/10/2009 15:30

I've given up with potty training. DD2 doesn't seem to know how to wee she seems to thinks it's just a thing that happens.

jabberwocky · 11/10/2009 18:29

DS2 does the occasional wee in the potty...today he decided the carpet was a better idea

EVye · 11/10/2009 19:52

Hi All

Indith - what about M&S for jeans?

Amapoleon - glad I'm not the only one with DD who needs nappy to poo.

Although she had 2 wee accidents yesterday, first in a few weeks and then came down with high temp today so I felt a bit guilty for being so cross.

Indith · 12/10/2009 13:05

Ds has been in pants for everything other than sleep for a while now but he is still rubbish. Sometimes he just wets himself completely, sometimes he will go "needaweeneedaweeneedawee" while leaking slightly then when you take the damp pants off he will carry on playing for a while then go over to the potty and finish his wee. He is fine when naked, knows he needs to go, announces it, looks for the potty, goes to find it, brings it back to where he was playing, sits on it and goes. Put pants on him and he just forgets. While out we do ok so long as I take him to the loo when we get somewhere and then at, say, snack time etc (if you ignore the 2 accidents he had at toddlers today) I have no idea what to do with him really. It feels as though at this stage a nappy or pullups would just reinforce that he can forget and be lazy with it but I keep thinking a few more days and he will start to remember but he doesn't.

Ah well, I have 2 sleeping children and a kitchen to clean.

jabberwocky · 12/10/2009 14:13

There's a thread going on about someone due in December and she wants to do a Christmas name for her dd. No one on our thread did that - did they?

castlesintheair · 12/10/2009 14:35

Re potty training: they get there eventually. Some seem to pt themselves at a young age, some just can't be arsed. I have had 2 of the latter
