it was a summary of the legislation regarding radioactivity - radioactive substances act, nuclear installations act, a lawyers perspective, contaminated land and nuclear site decomissioning and transport of radioactive materials. No cake unfortunately but some nice biscuits with coffee and some nice sandwiches, crisps, fruit and choccies for lunch

And I bought some lush but pricey Japanese sweets from the shop on Picadilly on my way home

GrimRIAper · 06/10/2009 20:01

thanks for link Sputnik. I was looking into Boots wistfully yesterday wondering the catalogue was out. Christmas is nearly here.

JammyOLantern · 06/10/2009 20:07

No, haven't had any email Sputnik

LittleMissNorticiaAdams · 06/10/2009 21:34

I'm interested as well Jammy i'm our departmental radiation protection supervisor

That kitchen is lovely Diay....but pink! I am going to try and persuade my DH. I like the IKEA one as well....I bought a baking set for DD for Xmas from there the other day.

My DCs have started to fight . I heard DS screaming at DD who was pulling him about and when I told her off she said "but he was pulling my hair mummy" He also makes a beeline for whatever toy she is playing with.....

How did DH get on Butterfly? What does he do for a living? Is he a lab scientist?

Sputnik · 06/10/2009 22:10

Thanks for all the ideas, Batterfly, will lok into some of those tomorrow.

Jammy, sorry will try again, I was being dense and trying to reply to FB

Oh sounds interesting Butterfly....well out of my league....I do biology and have serious issues with physics .

Shame about his appointment.....is he going back? What's next?

finding some lovely kitchens .....I love this one but I'm getting carried away I think! Just want something cheap and small.

Sputnik · 06/10/2009 22:31

Hey Butterfly!
That kitchen is lovely Norty, did you see there was a whole thread today about play kitchens?

GrimRIAper · 06/10/2009 22:31

that's nice norty.

don't know if it's relevant batty, but when I have my appts with MHW I am always on my guard in case I say something that will make her say it's all down to my mum, my dad or my upbringing (because it is not.) (as previous MHW told my friend that her mother was pretty much thr route of all evil. Friend behaving in similar way to her mother to outisiders)

am liking playmobil on 3 for 2. no idea for baggins though!

so tired tonight, though when I came downstairs earlier I had 2 children in their own beds! (probably not now) soent the afternoon moving beds and furniture to try and make their room more appealing for them. I need a nights sleep with no back pain or musical bed wrangling!

jammy, it sounds very interesting, but tonight I am not interested in anything! Having missed the deadline for my course through the postal strike has dented my interest, and I had a very unsatisfactory tutorial this evening (not helped by baggins yelling constantly because he wanted to be with me, DS2 crying because DH had told him off, and DH yelling like a chav - - because he is DH and he wasn't at work). My tutor sounded very unimpressed that I am a SAHM (erm, would I be doing basic OU maths if I had any qualfications or prospects?) after shattering my illusions

norty, I saw a similar one to that on ebay that was much smaller, and was about £25 I think. I'll see if I can find it. you'll get £20 off the vertbaudet one using code 4043.....taking it down to £35 though.

Ria, about your tutor's attitude to SAHM! Sorry you missed your course, hope you can find something else.

I don't want to go into details but the counselling assessment I had asked me a lot about my upbringing, and the woman suggested the way I feel about myself was linked to stuff from my early childhood. I was a bit about that and felt and disloyal whenever I said anything that didn't portray people in the best of light. But what she said did make sense and thankfully hasn't made me feel at all about it. If anything it's made me feel rather for and more understanding towards my family.

Scans arrived now thank you Sputnik

GrimRIAper · 07/10/2009 10:01

I'm sure a lot of how I am is related to my upbringing, but I can't see anything that would be relevant IYSWIM (although obviously my mum is to blame for feeling inadequate housework-wise etc), I have another appointment tomorrow, and I don't really want to go. Today I am on an even keel, the house is overwhelming, but I'm trying to take a small chunk a day and get on top of it.

GrimRIAper · 07/10/2009 10:03

and I know what you mean about feeling a bit about it jammy, I would be on a defensive (can take criticism of myself, but not anyon else)

anyway, am rambling. Will move on...

Ohforfoxsake · 07/10/2009 10:17

love the new name Ria

that tutor sounds like a knob

Hi everyone, just putting off going to playgroup, but I suppose I should go.

How is everyone?

Norty, I bought a massive Little Tikes kitchen, with a vision of my 4 children playing happily together. My advice is to buy something which won't take up half of the living room.

I absolutely agree with you Batterfly, about being products of our upbringing, but needing to take responsibility for our own happiness. My DS carries around the burden of her childhood, but I think there is a lot she made up in her head. Whenever I say "Do your remember this... or when we did that.." she has no recollection of anything. I wish she would leave the past alone and look forward at how she can be happy in herself.

Ohforfoxsake · 07/10/2009 12:13

I mean DSis, not my DS.

GrimRIAper · 07/10/2009 12:38

thanks foxy. I am in shock!

I have just bought a DS for DS2 for xmas (lots of DSs), went in a local 2nd hand shop looking for bunk beds (do your DCs share rooms and have bunks foxy?) and there was a silver DS for just under £60, DH told me to go and buy it (DH who said DS2 couldn't have one the other day, not that I want him to have one really, but...)

and, I just put my hand in some jeans to turn them inside out to wash (as you do) and they were full of poo! Yuk. When DH had to bath baggins yesterday because he had leaked he obviously didn't think to empty the poo out of the trousers.

Sputnik · 07/10/2009 12:59

Charming!
Talking of surprises in the wash, what happened about all that money you found?

LittleMissNorticiaAdams · 07/10/2009 13:05

Typical bloke!! How revolting.

Good for you on the DS.

Oooh I found that thread on kitchens and found some fab ones. Someone did mention that parents buy it more for the look of it than rather what the kids want. Guilty of that I'm afraid

God the weather is so bloody miserable here!
