Good luck with the business plan Natty.
For the thrush I had it and can really sympathise, it was agony, so much so I couldn't sleep. But I have completely got rid of it with this diet, I have not taken anything but it is completely cleared now, I really can't recommend it enough.

Basically you have to do 5 days with no carbs at all except small amount of brown rice or oats. No fruit or anything sweet as that feeds the candida which causes thrush (and cravings), and no processed food. No dairy but you can eat as much plain yogurt as you like, even full fat greek (bring it on!). It's for weight loss but if you're not interested in that then I guess after the first 5 days you would continue avoiding anything sugary, maybe just a couple of pieces of fruit a day, and refined carbs.

No problem with bf as you can eat as much as you like. Anyway, theres a thread here, and I have an article Foxy scanned for me if you'd like it, I can e-mail. I am really enjoying doing this, have got rid of my thrush and even lost a little weight!

GrimRIAper · 05/10/2009 09:20

that would be the very organisation daisy Dsis has asked DS to help serve at their xmas party, and demonstrate the paper-folding stars he can make. I think not!

Ouch JBM. I use the TENS machine on mine. ATM my pain is more in my hips

does anyone know anything about how dogs adapt when they lose their sight? My friend was in tears at school cos her tiny dog is going blind

LittleMissNorty · 05/10/2009 09:52

Good god....I pressed add on the other thread to say how quiet it all was and then my brain engaged and I realised you'd all moved on.....I'm so dense sometimes!!

Blimey Sputnik....no carbs for 5 days . What did you eat for 5 days if you can't eat carbs or fruit?

Sounds like everyone had good weekends . We thought it would be a good idea to go to Ikea on Saturday afternoon and eat out on the way home......just got on the slip road off the M25 and DD is shouting "POTTY MUMMY....PPPPPOOOOOTTTTTTTTYYYYY" and we are in gridlocked traffic......managed to pull over into a lay-by so she could have a wee and then we re-joined the gridlock.....took over half an hour to do the mile or so to IKEA and it was HEAVING. Found the dining room table and chairs we wanted but couldn't get them in the car (so another 2 car trip up there required ) and spent £120 on crap I don't need . DD whinged all the way round (to the point where I took her to one side and threatened her through gritted teeth like my dad used to do to me) and DS just puked his way around.

Fuck me, what a nightmare!

DS started crawling this morning .......arrrgggghhh....I was hoping for a few more weeks of staying still!

Fab Halloween names......I'm crap at thinking up new names!

LittleMissNorty · 05/10/2009 09:54

Hope your back is OK JBM....I do osteopaths.....they are less brutal than chiropractors and do more muscle work than bone work. I jarred my back last night by stepping down into the garage too hard, so my sympathy is with you!

Sputnik · 05/10/2009 10:04

Ikea at the weekend is a nightmare isn't it. We have to go and get our matress, so we can move finally off the sofabed, but couldn't face going yesterday.
What did I eat.... tonnes of veg, eggs, fish. You can have as much meat as you want if you're a carnivore, eg bacon and eggs for breakfast. I'm not hugely into bread or pasta anyway, so not too big a problem for me. And it was totally worth it to get rid of the candida.

LatinDAISYcal · 05/10/2009 10:12

I've bought the book Sputnik and am aiming to start this week.....like all things diety though, whenever I think about it I just want to eat sweets and carbs. I sooo get the cravings thing though, as I can feel hungry immediately after eating and the only thing that will satisfy that hunger is sweets. sounds promising though if it's cleared the thrush up.

Will definately try harder, but not easy with little people to feed as well.

Day from hell so far already after a night from hell. bumble up half the night screaming; he's tired, I'm tired, DD is being challenging to say the least (why does she persist in getting amongst things she knows she shouldn't touch and that she gets told off for whenever she goes near them...like creams and lotions and the fecking DVD player ) and I have to wait in for a delivery so can't even use going out as a distraction.

I have work to do and calls to make and as soon as I pick up the phone she kicks off, screaming at and shoving bumble and doing all the things she knows she shouldn't.

Yes I was like that, wanting something sweet after a meal, I can honestly say that has gone.
Hope your day improves.

LittleMissNorty · 05/10/2009 10:33

Isn't that a bit like the Atkins diet? All protein and no carbs? Blimey, you live in Italy and aren't into Pasta.....thats my dream . I love pasta

2 year olds are really fucking wearing aren't they? DD is really trying my patience atm. She also knows how to melt my heart though

Sputnik · 05/10/2009 10:38

I used to eat pasta every day, I got bored with it!
Yes, a bit like Atkins but less extreme.

LatinDAISYcal · 05/10/2009 10:46

You can have veg Norty, and once you are past the initial five days you can have carbs, but just can't mix them with fats or proteins....so can have pasta or rice but with a veg sauce as I understand it. It's preferable for it to be wholemeal pasta or brown rice though. Carbs to be as unrefined as possible.

Difficult on a GF diet as most GF pastas and breads are highly refined.

DD has just had a poo in her pants.....ah well, so much for my smuggery complacency over the weekend

I need to work, but am just sooooo tired.

Sputnik · 05/10/2009 10:52

I do either oats or pulses for my carb meal. Do oats have gluten?

Sputnik · 05/10/2009 10:59

The thing I love is the bucketloads of greek yogurt I am eating! Seriously Daisy you should try it, it will help with the energy levels too.

In phase 2 you can drink red wine. Have I sold you on it yet?

LatinDAISYcal · 05/10/2009 11:03

sort of; they have gliaden which is similar. Some coeliacs can tolerate oats ~(jury is out for me) but as most oats are processed in the same places as wheat etc the main issue is cross contamination. I would really struggle with a suitable breakfast as well.

I'm just tucking into a leftover bowl of potato duaphinoise with more cheese grated over the top

Will start on thursday. book recommends starting then as if you are going to feel a bit rough on days 3 and 4 it'll be the weekend and you'll have the time to deal with the cravings etc rather than just giving in to them.

LittleMissNorty · 05/10/2009 11:07

Have the day off working Daisy

I can split carbs and protein as in SW but always done green days on that. But, it does seem to do wonders. I eat veg and fruit by the bucket load. Don't know how my DH would cope?!

We had a poo accident here yesterday as well.....1st accident in 2 weeks, so can't really complain and poor DD was distraught. I just threw the knickers in the bin.....couldn't face that one!

LatinDAISYcal · 05/10/2009 11:15

Jammy, did you really send me a FB message at 2.05 AM????

OP posts:
Sputnik · 05/10/2009 11:17

You can have carbs and protein, but not carbs and fat, which makes it easier if anything.
Daisy, I will hold your hand. Days 2 and 3 were rough for me.

Breakfast was a problem for me on phase 1 tbh, eggs were a bit heavy first thing in the morning. Now I am having oats, fruit and low fat yogurt, which was what I normally have anyway.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 05/10/2009 12:33

Yes I did daisy I woke coughing so violently at about 1.30 I had to get up and come downstairs or risk waking everyone else It took until about 3 for me to be breathing freely enough to go back to bed.

I'm working at home today (on lunch at the moment) to save me the effort - which leads to more coughing - of travelling to/from work etc and to enable me to see the GP easily. Have just been there and got more inhalers and a prescription for ABs to cash in a couple of days if the increased inhalers don't work.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 05/10/2009 12:43

Sputnik, can you email me that diet summary article please? I'm normally totally about anything like this but am interested enough to have a look and may even try it once I'm over this cold.

LatinDAISYcal · 05/10/2009 13:05

Jammy, is it asthma? or something else? My sister had whooping cough as an adult and it took four different doctors and a month of tooing and froing as well as several pulled muscles before they finally figured out what was wrong with her.

I have given up on the idea of working today, although I've sent a few emails and am trying to design a flyer and business cards.

bumble is choked with cold and looking pale and pasty, bless him. He got back to bed for two hours though...lucky him

DD not doing so well today with the pottying and has asked for a nappy on. I've convinced her she doesn't need it though.

A new wool shop has opened near me so I'm off out there to drool over all the yarns and patterns and hopefully get some wool for making soakers and longies.

what is this cookery programme on CBeebies? not seen it before....pity they have to always use precocious middle class kids in these things, Piers anyone????

OP posts:
Sputnik · 05/10/2009 13:18

Will do Jammy. Can you FB me your email?

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 05/10/2009 19:30

Have done so Sputnik.

Yes, it's asthma. Most of the time it doesn't bother me at all. So much so that I get complacent and don't take the steroid inhaler regularly. But a cold like this makes it a real problem, especially when I've been slack with the medicine .

Jamlet wanted to play shop again after nursery. This involves putting all her toy food in the middle of the floor, then me or DH pick out some bits to go in the shopping basket and take it to her at her cash register. She scans each item and puts it in a shopping bag and then swipes our "loyalty card" (a drinks mat) and puts our money in the till. She sat there tonight going "bee bee" (beep beep) everytime she scanned a food item which was very cute

Sputnik · 05/10/2009 20:01

Very cute!

justbeme · 05/10/2009 21:57

Ahh I love watching them play at this age!!

Thanks for the kind words re my back - used our powerful massager on it last night and it seems ot have eased today.

Good luck on the nappies Natty - wow where do you get all your energy from???!!

Keep going with the pants Daisy - you've got this far - Im sure she'll crack it soon!

Re the blind dog - Im sure he will re adjust - you often see programmes re dogs that have for example lost a leg and they sort things out, plus dogs have such a good sense of smell too.

GrimRIAper · 05/10/2009 21:58
