Are you doing the candida diet CC? If so, remember no vinegar, mushrooms or potatoes. As well as no refined flour, sugar, fruit. But it works.

I need DKMA to find those shoes. She'll know!

Am really happy for you JBM how very bloody exciting! Did you find out the sex?

Jammy, I scorched the top of my Christmas cake, but sliced the top off. Its tricky to prevent it catching.

I'm thinking about making my own wedding cake. Fruit, chocolate, coffee tiers. Is that utter madness? Or should I throw £200 at M&S and just buy ribbon to decorate?

Oh, I had an email from Annobal the other day. She's enjoying Oz, except for the fact she had $2,000 of speeding fines she didn't know about (presumably before she left Oz) and so has had to hand her licence over. Doh!

Sputnik · 18/01/2010 13:33

Glad your scan went well JBM

Good luck with the diet CC, you will probably feel pretty bad on days 2 and 3, that is the candida die-off. I felt sort of spacey myself.

LittleMissNorty · 18/01/2010 13:47

Nice to hear from Annobal....does she not go on FB - she is on my friends list.

Home-made cake sounds great foxy but personally I would do the M&S option (oh, I did ). A lot less stressful. I had a friend make some sugar flower things that I could keep (a large one for me and small one for mum and MIL) and some tartan ribbon to put around the outside, bought the plain cakes from M&S, hired a cake stand and knife and it looked fab - a lot cheaper as well

Oh I need to go on a diet. Me and DCs just eaten a packet of jaffa cakes . Full moon, half moon, no moon

LittleMissNorty · 18/01/2010 13:47

Hi Sputnik

Sputnik · 18/01/2010 14:33

Hi Norty and Foxy!
Say hi to Annobal from me, glad she is enjoying Oz.
Re cake, I think Norty probably has the right idea. Would be fine if you were just making the cake but you'll have so much else going on it'll just end up being a source of stress (well would for me anyway!).

thistimeIknowitstheRiathing · 18/01/2010 18:05

how long do you have foxy? I would be tempted

justbeme · 18/01/2010 19:56

Evening all.
Yes I do know the flavour - but I haven't told DP, as I went on my own. So it's a secret!!

Sorry about your friend Ria.
Im sure Holly would find you a bargain Foxy!

LittleMissNorty · 18/01/2010 19:57

OMG how can you keep a secret like that!!?

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 18/01/2010 20:44

My Mum is home She has to go back in about 6 weeks and they will repeat the procedure to clear out the gall bladder (she says they told her it was full of little stones and pus when they did it last week, ew) and then they will probably want to operate to remove the gall bladder.

Ohforfoxsake · 18/01/2010 20:48

Go on JBM. I mean its US, we won't tell...
G'wan, g'wan, g'wan.....

Ria, its 3 months away. Making the fruit cake wouldn't be a problem, I could do it now, but the sponge layers would need making a day or two before the day. I'm leaning towards M&S...

Glad your mum is back at home Jammy!

Sputnik · 18/01/2010 20:57

Yes come on JBM!
Good news for your Mum Jammy

thistimeIknowitstheRiathing · 18/01/2010 21:03

glad your mum is home jammy.

how will you manage to keep it from DP JBM?

could you make the fruit layer and ask a friend to help with the sponge foxy?

have you tried Nine West shoes? I have no idea what that means, I just read about them.

just tried my new workout DVD. I don't have the co-ordination

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 18/01/2010 21:29

Sorry JBM, I was so about my Mum I missed your post . Yes go on go on go on - is it strawberry or blueberry flavour?

Ohforfoxsake · 18/01/2010 21:45

Thanks Sputnik yep tried Nine West. Found some I liked on Ebay, set to watch them, I thought they finished tomorrow. Arse, they finished today. And no bids. Grrrrr at myself for not knowing what fucking day it is!!

Have passed on best wishes to Annobal and told her to drop by!

Sputnik · 18/01/2010 22:06

you could try emailing the seller Foxy, you never know.

CharlottesClan · 18/01/2010 22:27

JBM- oooh tell us!

Jammy - thats great news about your mum made up for you!

foxy and sputnik - im a bit stumped for what i can eat.. all the different websites have conflicting ideas. so i can have wholemeal bread? what about wholemeal pasta? some sites say no sweet veg (carrots, sweet potatos) and others say they are fine.
confused!

felt a bit spacey today actually, maybe i just need to eat more.

Sputnik · 19/01/2010 10:55

The one we both did had 5 days with no cereals at all except 50g of brown rice. I ate carrots but think sweet potatoes are a no no. After the first 5 days you can reintroduce cereals, pref wholemeal stuff and don't go overboard. Also 1 or 2 pieces of fruit.
What got me through was the greek yogurt!

CharlottesClan · 19/01/2010 12:31

sputnik 50g before or after cooking?
yes have indeed eaten a whole tub of yoghurt this morning. im starving!

Sputnik · 19/01/2010 13:13

Before. That's about 100g cooked IIRC.
I ate a lot of eggs too, as I don't eat meat.
You're allowed coconut milk (infact supposed to be very good for Candida) so a curry is a good option too.

Ohforfoxsake · 19/01/2010 15:00

I think you can eat porridge, with water (I used skimmed milk). You can also eat dark berries. Jacket potato with cottage cheese is OK, and next week you can eat pitta bread with houmous and saled.

Typical day:

Porridge with blueberries (carb meal)
Tuna nicoise for lunch (protein meal)
pork stir-fry for tea (protein meal)

remember you can have big portions of the protein meals. I'd have bolognaise with salad no pasta.

snack on cheese, hard boiled eggs etc

I've checked FB for your email, but can't find it. Send it to me and I'll email you the magazine article. It has it all on there.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 19/01/2010 21:26

I might have to give that diet a go soon

these (in smoothie colour) came in the post today I am very pleased

Mum has to go back to hospital on Feb 10th to have gall bladder recleaned and then removed. Hope she's recovered by Feb 27th, for their party.

LackaDAISYcal · 19/01/2010 21:37

quick wave...having horrible PMT and sleep issues so not in a happy place. barely keeping up with scrabble even!

CC, got all excited as I figured out who you were....before reading all the posts here where it becomes obvious Why the new name though? I thought it was the queen of the sewers at first.......

not caught up with the other thread yet...too too chatty over there...sorry you feel you have had to namechange

my diet lasted all of eight hours; did brekkie and lunch just fine, then blew out at teatime with a big oily curry and white rice followed by chocolate roulade and then half a bag of haribo! But, aforementioned vile PMT lets me off the hook this week.

seriously needing some help re PMT; this has been horrible; insomnia, night sweats, hideous mood swings, irritability, turning on my poor DC and DH and feeling like I wanted to kill someone (anyone would do, sooo not fussed there!) Came on this morning and I feel like a new woman. It's etting worse as well...used to be a day or two at the most, now almost a week of my life each month is given over to hell. My poor babies are terrified of this ranting shouting harpie that has replaced their mother.

someone suggested the progestogen(?) only pill might help? Not sure I want to go on the pil at my age, especially when DH is "done"

gah, that wasn't quick was it....got into a rant (maybe PMT not all gone just yet? )

Jammy, glad your mum is on the mend and I hope she passes the other stones without too much pain

great news on the scan JBM; so so thrilled for you all

foxy, those shoes are gorgeous.....but £135 ...for one day. My frivolous side says buy em, but my practical side says waaaaaay tooo expensive unless you are going to get lots of wear out of them.

erm....what else is going on?

LittleMissNorty · 19/01/2010 21:39

Good news about your mum Jammy. Must mean she has "sand" in her bile duct. How she could not feel that - my god I'm amazed.

I'm still eating Xmas food but its nearly gone now so diet will begin in earnest soon.

Where's Daisy?

LittleMissNorty · 19/01/2010 21:40
