Here it is, Juners! New thread!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
bigcar · 25/02/2010 11:16

venetian, that's great news, must be such a relief

June2009 · 25/02/2010 20:49

thread ideas:
June09: bring on the crawlers! (short and sweet as we don't have time for anything else).
or "going back to work and looking for childcare!"

Nursery went pretty well, the key worker seems ace. I had a horrid nightmare the first night and as if that wasn't enough I had a second one where I was telling dh all about it in great details . My nightmares are very graphic and that's been a problem since my pregnancy.

Now I feel guilty for sending my dd to nursery so early. "Motherhood" or "the long guilt trip!", huh (could also be a thread title ;))

Do any of your little ones sleep on pillows?
I know its dangerous and against guidelines, not really happy about it but this is the only way dh managed to get C to sleep. We've done plenty of co-sleeping as well while she had a throat infection and she resents her cot now.

very me post, too tired to catch up (I have a bug the last couple of days. and finding it really hard to cope!)

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 26/02/2010 13:29

Just a quick post before I try to nap

June dd1 had apillow early but that was largely because she used her huge toy dog as a pillow and he left her sweaty and yukky and we we worried about her aspirating his hair/ coat so a pillow was progress

Bigcar work is primarily to do my hours, DD1 had a fab fab fab time at swimming and beamed all the way home bless (I was a v proud mummy)

Guachita I use vanish liquid rather than powder and bung a bit in with my normal powder wevery wash (well whites and lights)

Right going to have a nap

Re thread title maybe something "mat leave's over and we're on the move"

Gauchita · 26/02/2010 13:58

Hi ladies!

Quick post/question, i promise to come back later with a proper catch-up:

do any of you know whether babies can become lactose intolerant overnight? M has been throwing up a few times in the past few days, doesn't accept much food and is drinking mostly my milk (and ok with this one). She doesn't seem unwell as she plays and is her normal self but gags at the sight of food almost every time now... I've left a msg on the HV's machine as she wasn't available.

I feel a bit silly because she seems fine but it's odd jow she suddenly reverted to only BM almost.

Hope you're having a nice day!

Gauchita · 26/02/2010 14:26

How, not jow! Gaah!

bigcar · 26/02/2010 14:40

gauchita, it would more likely be a dairy intolerance than lactose as that would usually include breastmilk. As to whether you can get it overnight, haven't a clue I'm afraid, sorry. Have a look here for symptoms, are her nappies runny, that seems to be a bit of a clincher, how is she otherwise? Maybe she's just a bit under the weather and finds bf more comforting when she's not 100%?

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 26/02/2010 16:49

Gauchita-

Intolerances can develop at any age (dh was 30) but I would rule out the more obvious stuff first, tummy upset is thristy from throwing up but doesn't want food?, sore throat, phase- (recent choking put her back astage?)etc

fwiw I believe A is intolerant of Lactose (I'm dairy free and have been from near enough her birth) DD1 and DH both have (different) symptoms. A seems to have cramps (brings her legs up to her tummy and squirms (whilst crying V loud!) DD1 has constipation and cramps whilst dh goes the other way (sorry if tmi)

HTH

Gauchita · 26/02/2010 19:51

Hi all!

Thank you Juners for your replies I had a look at that website, Bigcar, and many things ring a bell. Today, for example, she was fine when she had BM and apple, but then started feeling odd and gagging after I gave her yog with porridge. She won't have cheese either, which is weird, given the fact she was a fan!

OH! I didn't know there was a difference between lactose intolerance and dairy intolerance I was lactose (or dairy?) intolerant for a few years and then it went away.

Anyway, she has now developed a nappy rash because of all the runny nappies I couldn't put her in the bath, she screamed, I'm such a numpty I didn't realise! She's now sleeping after having some BM.

I don't think the HV will call me on a weekend so I'll call the out of hours surgery and see what they say.

Right

June, glad to hear things went well at the nursery and that you like it very much. Sorry to hear about the nightmares Ohhh yes, guilt comes with the territory

Doris, thanks for your reply hope you had a nice nap

Bigcar, thanks as well I can imagine your DD3's face with all those docs around her Bless her! Ugh, don't get me started on the DH front, not a good day here, men choose the worst times to get all "I'm the one wearing the trousers here" I won't rant, too long... Oh dear, sorry to hear you felt a bit strange and sick after your appt with the MW. Hope things get easier and better... it must be good to have things clearer, so I'm glad for you.

Venetian, yay! Does that mean you're flying on the 5th?

HI to all Juners!!!

I've got a horrible headache so I think I'll be going to bed soon...

Hope you have a nice evening ladies!!!

Waves!!

MrsMcJnr · 26/02/2010 21:34

Hey ladies exhausted here. It took me over an hour to get Aaliyah to sleep. I think she was overtired as has been up since 8am with only had 2 x 45min naps with the last one at 3pm so my own fault but wow she was furious. I got her to sleep 3 times and then she woke up each time and I had to start again. On the last occasion she was standing in her cot yelling nothing wrong with her, just wants Mummy I thought things were getting better as she slept 12-5 the other night but last night she was back to being up every hour

So? how are you all? I?ll have a read and find out

MrsMcJnr · 26/02/2010 22:29

Bunny ? the oat bake was NOT a success neither child would touch it and DH thought it was disgusting (he thought they were flapjacks ? serves him right for thieving from the kitchen!)

Bigcar ? how did DD3 being a ?body? go? I remember when I was pg with Xavier there was a trainee midwife at one of my appointments and the mw asked her what the marks on my stomach were (from my heparin injections) she said ?intravenous drug user? and gave me a disgusted look I was so upset but luckily saw the funny side later ? you don?t get more straight laced than me when it comes to recreational drugs (other than alcohol!) I have a paper eater here too ? yuck! Glad to hear that talking to the MW is helping

Gauchita ? sorry to hear about your journey back from London poor Mila, do you think she gets car sick? I would in one of those seats. Is DH nervous about taking over the reins tomorrow? A can be funny with food and just want milk too and can be quite sicky after a feed (I think that?s because she wants to be on the move again immediately, crawling on her belly) ? I put it down to teething. Hope your headache is on the retreat.

June ? glad all went well with C at the nursery I lost 3 1/2 pounds this week just shows you how much crap I usually eat haven?t done my crunches at all ? tomorrow I?ll start. Like your thread ideas but the 2nd doesn?t apply to me DS now has a pillow as he is 2yrs but not Aaliyah. Have you tried putting the pillow under the mattress to prop it up? Managed not to co-sleep much this week but last night she was in with us from 3.30. Hope you are feeling better.

Doris ? wonder if there is a Spanish equivalent to that Vanish Liquid! Seriously need some. Hope you are getting some down time

Venetianred ? haven?t been watching that blood clotting story but it was interesting to read so thanks for the link I don?t have Hughes syndrome but a genetic mutant prothrombin gene but my risks and treatment are the same. I inject until 20 weeks for the baby (to keep blood flow through the placenta) and after that it is for me. I inject heparin for 6 weeks after the birth too in case of DVTs and before any long haul flights. The tests are very expensive for these problems sadly that is why they are so commonly missed in the UK. Sorry to hear about you DH?s wobble, that must have been horrible for you hope everything is ok now. The amber necklace is meant to be a natural analgesic. It just sits on her skin, she doesn?t bite it [http://www.teethingambernecklace.com/Products/] I have the multi-coloured one for Aaliyah. I think it does help she doesn?t seem so ferocious in her need to bite anything in sight! Really glad to hear that you got the bassinet in the end ? phew! Really sad chocking story

Hi Llynnn ? hope things get easier with Isobel and work don?t be a stranger!

MrsMcJnr · 26/02/2010 22:30

bigcar · 27/02/2010 11:16

gauchita, it's not going to hurt M to take dairy out of her diet for a few days until you can get some proper advice. It would also be better if you can cut it from your diet too. Sorry to hear the about the nappy rash, poor thing

will catch up properly later, time is flying by at the moment

Gauchita · 27/02/2010 19:18

Hi all

Bigcar, I've done that, yes, I also think it won't hurt and it'll give us an idea of how she goes. I'm only putting a tiny bit of milk on my tea (I can't take it without it, how sad is that!) but have also stopped eating the rest. We'll see. Hope you're having a good weekend

Mrsmc, so sorry to hear A is back on the full-of-beans mode at night You must be exhausted you poor thing. I hope tonight is a bit better and you managed to rest a bit today maybe? Well done on the weight front!

Hi to all Juners!

Well, we called the out-of-hours GP this morning and when they called back a nurse said it was very likely she had a tummy bug. She told us to hydrate her a lot, to only give her water, BM, porridge and maybe pasta but no fruit or veg for a couple of days(because of the runny nappies). We'll see how she goes, she seems ok otherwise so let's hope it passes soon

Hope you're all having a nice weekend ladies.

June2009 · 27/02/2010 21:18

hehe, only just realised today that this year us first timers qualify for mothers day I'm stupidly chuffed about this.

So, new thread title along the lines of
June09, Maternity leave is over, our babes are on the move and heading to their first birthdays.

??
any other suggestions?

gauchita when C had a tummy bug we stopped milk for a couple of days and she had baby rice, toasted bread, lots of water and she was definitely better very soon, good luck, it is so worrying when they're not well isn't it.

gotta go, dinner is ready.

venetianred · 28/02/2010 08:38

gauchita - one other possibility is teething. F stopped being sick, but started up again when he started teething. He also would be more particular at mealtime and simply not want certain foods, and some days he has diarrhoea yucky nappies. Are you flying to London and then onwards, or direct to South America from Manchester?

june - just 'babes on the move' sounds cool.
or 'growing up and on the go go go'
A few of us second time mummies aren't on maternity leave.

MrsMcJnr - A is determined isn't she!! Thanks for the link I will take a look. Is the weather any better?

June2009 · 28/02/2010 11:33

hey venetian yes nice one, "June09: babes on the move" is great :D
Any progress with the crunches? I've been dancing with the baby to try and burn some calories

It must have been quite stressfull for you when dh said he wanted to leave, I'm glad you're back on track. dh had a bit of a wobble a few years ago (we'd been dating for a year or two I think) and I was really as I thought it was going swimmingly well. Now I worry that he's not getting enough action and that he'll start looking elsewhere if we don't manage to spend more couple time!

gauchita hoe's M's milk free diet going?

mrsmc when I weighed myself yesterday I had lost 6 pounds in 2 weeks, this is because I had a bug this week and didn't eat for a couple of days so that's probably going to go back on now :S

C is going to nursery and I haven't bought any tracksuit to go to gym with. I am a bit nervous about going back seeing that I was very fit before pregnancy and I was about 3 stones lighter. Some people are not going to recognise me. I know it's stupid but i used to go everyday so it's a bit like going to a family reunion looking like shit iyswim.

right, gotta go C is bored with her steering wheel

venetianred · 28/02/2010 13:41

june - actually no. He is dramatic. He doesn't mean these things. He is completely and utterly devoted, adores me and devastated when he is without us. He just does things like that to get my attention, but I scream at him, as it is not something you should say, and it upsets me.

I have given him a little more attention.....and our love life has improved.

venetianred · 28/02/2010 13:57

I should say, I yelled at him that he shouldn't say things he doesn't mean.

Gauchita · 28/02/2010 16:23

Hi all!

Venetian, thanks for that, it could be so many things, couldn't it? Babies are hard to decipher I'm actually not sure whether we're stopping in London or not We leave at 10.25 and I've managed to book a sky cot for M for the first flight, we then have to arrange with American Airlines but only right before boarding We'll see how that goes... Oh, you're absolutely right, he shouldn't say those things "just for effect purposes". Glad to hear thing are better

June, I know what you mean. The gym where I used to go in Bs As was like that, everybody knew each other and you saw more or less the same people if you went to classes like body pump, etc... but don't worry, you've had a baby! If they give you odd looks, they're the freaks! Dancing sounds like fun, esp as C is involved as well Oh yes, it's our first mother's day with the LOs (well, for us first timers ) I'll be away, though, and there it's in May so I don't know whether I'll be able to celebrate it I'll give DH some hints that it doesn't matter where we are

Hi to all Juners!

I like the thread ideas Maybe including the bit about the first bdays coming as well could be nice, I think Mrsmc suggested that?

M is still on porridge, BM, water and a bit of Dioralyte as well (the nurse told us to get that). I added bread today, thanks June for that idea She had a less runny nappy this morning so that's good.

I couldn't resist and bought these, a bit cheaper and from a different website, though, but for some reason couldn't link properly

Got to go, M's calling.

Waves!!!

MrsMcJnr · 28/02/2010 19:34

Hey girls we had a drama yesterday, Aaliyah fell head first off our bed onto the marble floor she is absolutely fine luckily but it was horrible we took her to A&E just to err on the side of caution and an x-ray showed no fractures and she seemed otherwise unaffected other than a huge now purple egg on her forehead. I?d had a terrible night with her, had had about 45 mins sleep all night and was desperate to sleep so brought her in with us around 5am. DH went into DS at 7am and I didn?t hear him go nor Aaliyah awake and move away from me and the first I knew of it I woke up hearing her giggling, reached for her she wasn?t there and looked to the end of the bed to see her disappearing over the side, it?s a vision that will stay with me always thankfully I think she slid some of the way down on the duvet so didn?t fall from far ? a horrible shock though and the last time I bring her into our bed to sleep.

MrsMcJnr · 28/02/2010 19:47

We have a huge storm brewing up tonight ? the wind is really getting up and it?s pouring with rain. Tomorrow is a bank holiday as today is Andalucia Day so we have Daddy at home hope it?s a decent day and we can go for a walk.

June ? well done on the weight front . Can understand what you mean about your gym buddies but I?m sure you?ll be back to fighting fitness very soon seeing as you were so fit before. My stomach muscles were useless even before I had kids I did a lot of spinning, Pilates, yoga, aerobics etc but never enough work on the old tum which is my bad zone.

Guachita ? hope M is feeling miles better I have a couple of pairs of shoes like that for Aaliyah which she wears all the time. I think they are fabulous; DS wore out 2 pairs before he could walk.

Think I am going to buy the ?No cry solution? ? really need to get Aaliyah sleeping.

Had to take Aaliyah's earrings out for her x-ray but thankfully managed to get them back in again but it wasn't easy.

Skillbo · 28/02/2010 22:12

Hello lovely ladies - am so sorry that I just haven't been about but I just don't seem to find the time to do anything anymore! After work I try to spend all my time with Jazzy until her bed, then tea happens and then its late so get to zone out for about half an hour and then bed.. no life!

So, haven't really been able to catch up on your posts either so sorry but from what I have read...

Gauchita - sounds a little like teething as well.. the only time that Jazzy did a similar thing to Mila was just before her top teeth came through - went off everything pretty much except total slop and me! Hope that M gets better too though!!

Venetian - haven't read much about your argument but sounds like one of those awful ones where someone says something that makes you feel sick for ages afterwards! Glad to hear that it all seems better.. and nice to know your DH is totally devoted - as he should be!

June - I was very luck and got a 'Mum to Be' card and pressy last year for Mothers Day but must admit am looking forward to it. As I am sure for lots of you gals, Jazzy arrived just in time for Fathers Day last year so DF got to feel all special! Don't worry about the gym - I'm just impressed your heading back as I am soooo slack on that front. Have decided that I do need to do something (to get into my wedding dress if nothing else!) so am going to start running in my lunch hour as it seems to be the only time I really have - which is kind of sad! Looking forward to it as I'm one of those people who really have to gee themselves up for exercise but once done, absolutely loves it! I got really into swimming whilst pg but the pool is miles away and I wouldn't get home until quite late (too far for the lunch hour!).

MrsM - glad to hear that A is ok after her fall. From what I gather, everyone has a 'falling off the bed' story at some point so at least she didn't hurt herself seriously with hers! Hope sleeping improves again though as you sound so pooped! At least A has shown she can do it!!

Anyways - have been trying to sort out the wedding thang! I seem to be the least stressed of everyone - MIL seems to be going overboard a tad, mainly because my parents are abroad so I think she's trying to step in. Its a bit annoying but she really means well so its hard to juggle it really! Sorted out flowers and invites this weekend and am going dress shopping tomorrow and then we're pretty much there. DF finally seems to have got my engagement ring sorted although it's having to be made specially as I have elephant fingers (size T ) but should be here in about 10 days - wooohooooo!

Anyways, am going to try and read a bit more before bed... take it easy Juners!

Oh, Jazzy has started crawling so I like the idea of a 'Babys on the Go' thread title - its going to make for interesting times, me thinks!!

Skillbo · 28/02/2010 22:40

Ok - quick update following a few more reads...

Skies - hope the christening prep going well!

June - I think we're going to have to have a 1st birthday. Jazzy has her birthday just after our wedding so my parents will be here and I know DF's family won't let it pass uncelebrated. I love the idea of it being for us though - seems about right though as the lo's won't remember it. I also think we sound like we could all do with some pampering... reading this thread over the last 8 months (gosh, doesn't time fly) has shown just how many exciting and crazy things have happened! Bring on the bubbly, thats what I say . Hope you've sorted things out with your friend!

Would love to meet up with some of you lovely Juners though - and summer sounds great. I am right down on the south coast but there's good transport and have my motor now so would definitely make the trek. It would be so much fun to meet your lo's - seeing as how I know so much about them (and probably things that in a few years would mortify them!)

Laura - big snuggly hugs!

Bunny - I've heard they recommend those straps that go over shoulders as well as round the middle but ours only goes round the middle (and we have quite a lightweight chair as well). Jazzy scares me sometimes with her wiggling and stuff so will take extra special care now - especially as we got her wieghed last week and she's now 19lbs 8 (and on the 75th percentile... takes after her pesos though - we love our food but agreed that the pizza on Friday would be our last takeaway until the wedding as he's getting a bit of a tum too - nowhere in my league but he;s always been super slim!)

Venetian - those choking stories are quite scary! I remember eating too much fairy cake when I was younger and I was alone in the house - luckily I got it out but.... Me and DF are off to a first aid course tomorrow which tells you all sorts of things specifically for babies so am hoping this will ease my worrying a bit - bit of a worry wart about that sort of thing!

Bigcar - Jazzy a paper fiend as well, even managed to chew the corner off a library book and the first we noticd was when she stuck her tongue out and there it was! What can you do...!

Anyways - I really need to hit the hay now but hope everyone is good and catch up again soon xx

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 01/03/2010 13:42

Hello Ladies!!

After months of not posting at all, I'm now getting on more than ever (just as everyone else diappears

*mrsmc DD1 came tumbling off our sofa onto the tiled kitchen floor, dh (who was in charge at the time) said he'd never felt so sick! Hope she's back to her normal self now.

Skillbo god luck with the wedding planning, whereabouts on the south coast are you? I'm down in Devon.

Would just like to say thay as it is suny here dd2 and dd3 have had a picnic lunch on the patio They've been playing outside most of the morning. And I've got washing out on the line drying too.

On the progress front A can now get up our stairs, she had been able to do the bottom couple but yesterday I followed her all the way up. So now we have to be really careful with the stairgates as she really not good at coming down (without rolling) she's also really fast dd1 left the gate open for a minute this morning and the next thing I hear is a howl as she rolls down I have no idea how far she got that time but she doesn't seem unduly worried.

Right off to clear out the garage with stuff for the tip and the bottle bank as I have more stone walling to do tomorrow (the front garden now!) as it's getting a bit warmer.

waves to all

x

June2009 · 01/03/2010 14:42

mrsmc sorry to hear A fell off the bed, your heart must have stopped , my pram tipped over once a while back because I let go of the handles for a split second and it was pretty terrifying. They are bound to fall over at some point or other though aren't they, I hope you're not beating yourself up about it.
The bad weather was on the news here as well, I hope you're all ok and not flooded!

skillbo I know what you mean about time slipping through our fingers.
My wedding was a great motivation to loose weight 3/4 years ago (that's when I started hitting the gym hard.) I love running, it's exhilarating, first thing in the morning it really clears your head and makes the day so much easier to cope with. (dunno about swapping lunctime for a run though lots of my mates when I used to work from the office in docklands used to do it though) as there is a gym in the building.

The situation with my friend here is not sorted but there is nothing more we can do or say on our side without going round in circles so I'm a bit fed up and decided I'm just going to move on. I think I have to accept my friend is high maintenance, gets stupidly easily offended, is also a bit of a back stabber and has double standards. I know she sounds terrible put this way but she is also nice and a very good friend somewhere in there.

skies how's the christening prep going? you must be excited, it's this Sunday! congrats on the offer on the house (saw that on FB).

gauchita These shoes are adorable :D how's M now?

C was at nursery properly for the firs ttime today. She cried when we left her and cried when I picked her up but it's a very specific cry that doesn't last. She seemed to have a really good time with her keyworker, they take pics and keep a diary so we know what they've been up to.
I took advantage of that baby free time to do some work, 5 hours straight and got LOADS done.
Babe was up every 45 minutes last night (mrsmc I don't know how you cope with this kind of sleepless nights on a regular basis, I'm beyond knackered and could go to bed for the night right now.) Keyworker says she is definitely teething.

Doris I'm very impressed with your little one going up the stairs!! C is staying a little bit longer on her belly and started doing some kind of crawling motion .

I can't wait to meet my NCT mates on wednesday they seem to be becoming my closest friends. It's very nice to have lots of friends all over but it does not help very much with instant local moral and practical support ;)

In the meantime c has fallen asleep and I'm not sure what to do with myself. I know if I start something long at work she will instantly wake up (ditto if I make a cuppa ;).
