Here it is, Juners! New thread!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Gauchita · 19/02/2010 14:47

Oops, forgot!
Mrsmc, sorry to hear you've had red tape issues over there But glad to hear you've had a bit more sleep. Hope the rain stops soon!

bigcar · 19/02/2010 15:13

afternoon all

laura, so so sorry to hear your news You will be in our thoughts ((((hugs))))

effie, E isn't that keen on finger foods or lumps yet either, sure they'll do it when they want to Sorry to hear your ds1 has bought the school pet home for the holidays, are you doing the wet combing with conditioner or just zapping the little critters?!

june, hope all goes well with the nursery visit, is it tomorrow? How's C today, any better, poor thing? There's details here for Sheila Kitzinger, I've also heard good things, I may give it a go depending on how I get on with the hospital, I would think they would be a little less biased maybe as they are independant of the hospital. I can't believe your unit charge £10 for a talk with a midwife I'm guessing it's because they can charge £10 to view your notes but even so a bit of a cheek!

gauchita, how lovely to be back on line Wouldn't it be lovely for a couple of our june babies to meet up, funny your both flying at a similar time, how things work eh?!

skies, how's the house hunting going? Rightmove is on my favourites list, not that we're actually moving

MrsMcJnr, Naval Criminal Investigative Service, it's a bit like CSI but rather obviously, navy based I find my two hardest probably at the moment, at 2 and 3 they were pretty good! At the moment they have a love/hate relationship, they either get on great or I'm breaking the pair of them up while they try to tear chunks off each other I think it gets hard about age 2 and 3 because that's the first time you have two children that want to walk independantly and you can bet they both want to go in opposite directions and a trip to the park when they both need watching carefully is very hard on your own. But at that age it was often physically hard work chasing them both but at the same time they both still had daytime naps so I got a good break. Guess it's like everything, it depends on you and your individual children. I think next year will be a little easier as dd2 will be at high school and her and ds1 won't be at the same school spending all their time together, it should do them some good!

venetian, your trip sounds lovely, how exciting, we'd love to visit NZ, it's on the list of things to do when we win the lottery

I know venetian mentioned being careful with cheese chunks, the same goes for grapes, I've heard similar stories of children choking on them. Always cut them in half when they are old enough to eat them.

I took E back to the gps again this morning, the xray showed an infection, go figure but she could still hear it on his chest, so we'll be back again in a couple of weeks! Just carrying on with the inhaler for now.

Anyone else going to be watching the live eastenders tonight? I'm a little fed up with the whole whodunnit thing now, will be good to get it over and done with, I reckon Archie will turn up in the shower in a couple of years time and it will all have been a dream

half term has been manic, I've been trying rather unsuccessfully to get the dcs to tidy their rooms, oh well, guess that's what they'll be doing monday, inset day fun!

whenskiesaregrey · 19/02/2010 17:53

Oh no Effie, that makes my head itch!!

Bigcar- house hunting is going well, looking at 3 houses tomorrow, and then probably making an offer next week! That will be exciting! I'm not into eastenders much, 'tis a bit Southern Softie and depressing for me ! Much prefer Corrie! Hope E feels better soon x

Gauchita- seeing as this thread started in Oct and has lasted us nearly 6 months, that means that its likely our LOs will turn 1 in the next thread! How scary is that! It seems so long ago when you read the start of this thread and here the things we were talking about! I wonder what they will all be like in another 6 months!

Hi MrsMcJnr, Venetian, Skillbo, StrawberrySam, Snowwombat xx

Hope you are doing okay today Laura xx

Sorry for the quick post, just off to Asda [snore] and then onto the busy weekend. Have the baptism preparation tomorrow morning at 9 'til half 12, then a wedding meeting at the venue at half 1, and house viewings at 3, 4 and 4.45pm. Then on to a Christening on Sunday. It is totally a million miles an hour here at the moment, pretty tiring! Hope you all have a nice weekend! x

June2009 · 19/02/2010 19:58

thanks for your suggestions, I have the nurofen, apple puree and petit filou at the ready ;) C has been better today, we'll see how it goes to tonight.
gauchita have you ever considered moving to London :D

Would love to meet up with some juners, I know we mentionned it once upon a time. Maybe in the summer?

Right well, we're signing baby up to nursery tomorrow but I'm quite looking forward to being able to do simple things like make a phonecall when it is needed and not when or if I can fit it in at some point this year month!

bigcar How people cope with more than 1 is still a great big mystery to me

skies I can never work out that kind of thing, will try and suggest something for the next thread.

Are you guys planning to have a party for their first bday? I didn't even consider it (always thought they're too young why bother iyswim) but it seems to be mandatory according to family here. (looking for a pissup no doubt ;)

I may well be back on here during the weekend!

venetianred · 19/02/2010 22:48

1st Birthday is for your benefit june - you invite your friends and family to celebrate getting through the first year in one piece. They may all bring presents for your daughter and you may dress her in a pretty outfit, but it's for you honey. We went to a gastropub with a playground in the gardens.

Isn't it great having summer babies.

Have fun in London gauchita

MrsMcJnr · 20/02/2010 10:01

Hey ladies, should be at swimming but DH has had to go to work and I couldn?t cope with 2 kids in the pool so we are at home we are ultra disorganised too as we spent the night at my Mum?s to spend time with her cat. It was all a bit disruptive and Aaliyah was yo yo-ing up and down all night plus the bed was too small to bring her in with us so I am shattered at least we have a sunny day today

Couple of quick comments and questions

Effie ? my head is itching just thinking about it ? uggh poor you!

June ? we had a lovely 1st birthday party for Xavier just family and a few close friends and 2 of his little pals, was fab. Poor C hope she feels much better soon and that you enjoy the nursery visit today.

Gauchita ? interesting re the vinegar, enjoy London.

Bigcar ? NCIS sounds interesting what channel is it on? I guess kids personalities have a lot to do with how they will be together too. I already find it hard watching both DCs at the park as I am paranoid about Snatchers!

Bunny ? so tell me more about how to make the oats, milk and puree bake please

Anyone know how to get banana out of clothes??

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 20/02/2010 17:50

bookmarks to come back tomorrow waves to all!!!

June2009 · 20/02/2010 18:53

mrsmc banana is the bane of my life, C oves it and dh is not careful to put a bib on when she is eating. I have fond memories of lovely clothes which now have dirty looking brown patches all over.

C is a little better I think, sleeping at the moment. We're going to try and feed her solids when she wakes up.
I signed her up for nursery and we start the settling in on Monday already. One of my friends signed her little boy to it (for later this year) and another friend was also looking at it today. (quite reassuring).

I have a problem with one of my best friends which I don't know how to handle and unfortunately it's too long to explain here but is quite draining for me at the moment.

Gotta go and prepare some food,

Gauchita · 21/02/2010 10:42

Morning ladies!

June, sorry to hear about your friend, do come and vent when you feel like it, maybe we can help? Glad to hear C is a bit better and that nursery open day went well Having two friends joining sounds good! I don't think we'll be coming again soon as the cousins are relocating, snif!

Mrsmc, no idea! I hate those stains and there are soooo many bibs with brown spots Glad to hear the rain has stopped

Doris, hi!

Venetian, hi! Yes, having summer babies is great, I can only imagine the fun bday parties in the future

Skies, wow, you're having hectic days!!! Good news on the house hunting front, that's great!

Bigcar, hope little E feels better soon. Has he finished the round of ABs? Ohhh tidying up chores! Hope you manage to get them round to those soon

Laura, thinking of you...

Hi to all Juners!

M had a bad night, she would wake up screaming and crying, eyes closed etc...I ended up not even looking at the time every as it would have been worse. Veeeeeeeeeeeery cloudy and rainy here in London, but enjoying the weekend with the cousins.

Hope you're all having a lovely Sunday.

Waves!!

lauraloo09 · 21/02/2010 17:48

hiya everyone sorry i disappeared for a few days just trying to get over the past week. Will catch up with what's been going on tomorrow.

Just wanted to let you all know I'm feeling better just taking each day at a time. I got a new job tho on friday which was a shock, means i dont have to go back to that horrible office when i return from mat leave which is next week!! Sarah been so much better recently and so eager to walk she keeps pulling herself up and just stands but she starts to get very frustrated when she tries to walk and falls lol she turns 8 months on tuesday...where has the time gone. This past week has been hard, this time last week i just found out I was pregnant and was soooo happy then on thursday my future fell apart but I'm feeling so much better than i was a few days ago. I know I'll have good days and bad days like i said just taking each day at a time.

Thank you lovely ladies for being there and for your thoughts over the past couple of days it's much appreciated xx

bunnymother · 21/02/2010 20:42

Laura - just jumped on MN and read your news. So sorry to read it, you poor lovely sweetie. Hope you have been good to yourself. I got my period on Friday so was a bit that baby no 2 isn't on it's way, plus Delie fell out of her high chair - do use the seat belts Juners, as the babies are really on the move - so had a crappo day. Felt quite fragile. Mocha feo
Starbucks did help a bit.

MrsMcJnr - got the oat thing from another frustrated mum: in baking tray pour oats, then pour in milk. Leave for 5-10 mins to let oats soak up milk. Then pour pureed fruit (I use commercially prepared) over the top. Could spread if you like, ditto sprinkle of cinnamon on top. Bake on low temp in oven till hard enough to chop, but soft enough to chew w gummy mouth (approx 20 mins in my oven). Delie quite likes it.

snowwombat · 22/02/2010 07:52

just a quick post to mark my place. tis chucking it down with snow here.laura good to see you here and good news about your job.make sure you give yourself plenty of time.
bunny you poor thing, is Delie ok?must have been such a scare
gauchita hope you had a lovely weekend in London. Think i need one soon, Oxford st is calling!
june good luck with the settling in session today
whenskies sounds like a manic weekend, hope it all went well
hi doris, skillbo, venetian, strawberry, effie mrsmac saw the consultant- he was brilliant. To address my blood clotting problem , I need to taken aspirin and inject a blood thinning drug once we get pregnant. Think it will be a little while yet.
Waves to everyone and hopes good weekends were had

bunnymother · 22/02/2010 07:55

Thanks, Snowwombat - Delie was fine, just shocked and prob a bit hurt. But not injured at all, thankfully!!!

MrsMcJnr · 22/02/2010 08:38

Just a quick message for Snow - I have a blood clotting disorder (Factor 3) after I lost Ava I discovered that I had it and took aspirin and injected heparin throughout both my successful pregnancies. At first it felt like climbing an emotionl mountain but it is amazing what you get used to and I've had such wonderful results with the drug combo that I don't mind doing it at all come chat anytime if you like

MrsMcJnr · 22/02/2010 08:42

Bunny - sorry to hear about Delie falling I never strap Aaliyah in, I must. Thanks for the oat thing, sounds nice, like healthy flapjacks

It's raining it's pouring ..... again as was yesterday. So much for Costa del Sol

bigcar · 22/02/2010 13:44

afternoon all

don't know about the rest of you ladies but the the weather here is soo miserable at the moment, it's rained all day and it's due to rain for the rest of the week, how lovely

skies, you calling me a big southern sofie? How was the house hunting, sounds hectic?! E is doing ok thanks, he doesn't seem too bothered by it all thankfully

june, wow, hope the nursery goes well, is it today? Sorry to hear things aren't good with your friend. A meet in the summer sounds good, I'm in the outer reaches of sw london, anyone else interested?

venetian, I'm with you on that one, making it through the first year in one piece is certainly an achievement worth celebrating We usually just have family round, hopefully being the end of may we will have nice weather!

MrsMcJnr, NCIS is on five on a wednesday evening. It's chucking it down here too, no fun!

gauchita, E finished his abs a week and a half ago, I don't think they did anything though, looks like this is going to be a long running saga! Has M had a better night?

laura, hope you're having another good day today Wow, well done on the job front, does that mean you're back at work next week? E is pulling himself up a lot now too, although no signs of walking here yet, he gets frustrated when he can't get down again and ends up doing the splits very slowly till eventually his legs give way and he's on his bottom again, tis quite amusing

bunny, hope D is ok, must have given you both a fright. Fingers crossed for next month for you

snow, an appropriate name for you today then! Hope it doesn't last.

effie, hope you got rid of the school pet Also that the funeral goes as well as it can and that F still manages a good birthday

we are still working on bedroom tidying here today, ds1 has lost his school bag and one of his bits of homework and dd2 is having a go at him, mainly because she was lucky not to get any homework and is really rubbing it in, oh the fun At least they are back at school tomorrow. I will be spending the day with dd3 tomorrow up at the hospital, it's consultants exam day and dd3 is being a "body" for them to diagnose, none of them got it right last year, so should be interesting.

Gauchita · 22/02/2010 14:23

Hi ladies!

Mrsmc, sorry to hear about the bad weather. Over here it's vvvvv cold but dry, although it snowed quite a bit during the weekend so we have a white scenery again.

Bunny, Sorry to hear about D's fall. Glad she's ok M fell from a friend's dining table last week and I almost had a heart attack. She was fine, just a bit scared by the fall, they are sooooooooo wriggly these days, aren't they? Yum! Loved that recipe idea!

Snow, hope the snowfall was not too bad there. Glad to hear the appt with the consultant went well

Laura, congratulations on the new job, sweetie! So glad you don't have to go back to your previous one Sounds like you're doing well taking one day at a time these days, be kind to yourself ((hug))

June, hope today went well!

Hi to all Juners!

Quite an eventful journey back home yesterday... M was not happy, complaining quite a bit and suddenly she threw up aaaaaaall over herself, her car seat and a bit of the car as well Oh dear, your mind just goes into problem-solving mode as you start thinking what to do on a moving vehicle with a crying baby and all that mess to clean! DH came out on a junction and we stopped as soon as we could. I changed M's clothes and cleaned her and DH took care of the car seat. I fed her a bit later on a service stop and then she fell asleep after crying a bit more, she was not happy. She's quite clingy today but doesn't seem unwell... I don't know if it's teething or what...

Hope you're having a nice day, Juners!

Waves!

Gauchita · 22/02/2010 14:28

x post bigcar! (it took me long to post

Sorry to hear the ABs don't seem to have made any difference but glad he doesn't seem affected by the whole thing. at the student docs (I hope I got that part right ) not getting the correct diagnosis. Oh the joys of siblings fights! I remember those well, I lost quite a bit of hair on those during my childhood and early teens

June2009 · 23/02/2010 15:02

hey, quick hello while C is at nursery for the first time!
She's only staying an hour as part of the settling in. No tears so far, I am expecting them when I go back.
sadly no time to hang about or catch up for now,

sorry to hear about the nits, falls & puke disasters...C choked on an organix biscuit at the weekend, very scary we had to hang her upside down and slap her back!!

hows everybody doing with their crunches? I used my periods as an excuse not to do them. (bad I know...) shall we do a weigh every 2 weeks?

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 23/02/2010 20:49

Hi all,

Laura so sory to hear you sad news, look after yourself and give yourself time.

June well done you I think the tears would be more on my part than A's if I left her now...

skies I saw your FB on the offer, the rigt house will come one day.. (fingers crossed for you)

Gauchita (still struggling with that naat!)
hope M feels better soon, A's been off again over the last couple of days but touch wood no vomits!!

Those struggling with stained washing, my secret is Vanish Liquid (as in "trust Pink forget stains") I was very precious after I had dd2 that things had to be properly clean and this was recommended but one of the CF community. Babygros and bibs etc are all on their third outing looking (almost) as good a new. If stuff doesn't come out on the first wash the second normally does it, I just add a dash to every wash, and bingo no brown (or orange(!)) marks

sorry I didn't get back to you all sooner, I'm now working fri night and sat night and as a result am even more knackered than before, although I got my pay packet for last month so that has added a bit of oomph, however I can't do this long term ( I don't see dh properly at the weekend) so I think I will probably do some bank shifts at the local hospital once I've done the hours I need too.

Took DD1 to her first swimming lesson this evening can't believe she's so big now and doing afterschool activities. Feels like yesterday I was at A's stage with her and

Right off to sit on my big fat bottom and watch the csi trilogy ( I'm not tempted to actively do anything about said big fat botom yet but bravo to those ladies who are... maybe when I have a 'leetle more time'

x Doris

venetianred · 23/02/2010 22:00

june - did you find one you liked, after I wrote my small essay on 'nurseries'?? Did you go for a 2 rated one? Do you have a really good feeling about it, or just trying it out to see how it goes?

gauchita - Well done though on trip to London and back. Wasn't that so sad about the murdered Sikh shop owner in Huddersfield. I can't abide the nasty evil vermin who do these things.

Speaking of which does anyone watch 'Silent Witness' - there was an amazing episode two weeks ago featuring gangs in South London. Incredible acting - so realistic.

bigcar - yes - DD was most excited about the cake - the rest she was completely oblivious too, but I had a great day catching up with people I hadn't seen since she was born!

snowwombat mrsmcjnr- have you been following the story on TV about blood clotting. It seems that even after your pregnancy you can run the risk of your blood clotting, which can be very dangerous. A young woman died recently. If we are talking about the same blood clotting problem, the man who discovered this condition is campaigning for women to be treated properly for it and for all the relevant blood tests to be run.

mrsmcjnr - finally a moment to respond to your posting. DH had a wobbly moment a few weeks back and said he was leaving. Turned out it was just a 'cry for help' as he was concerned about our sex life and wanted our 'life' to be a bit more fun. It's true I hadn't been listening much lately, but it's because I was so exhausted with F. Blimey. Anyway, we've found some middle ground, and he is happy. I am too actually. What is the amber necklace you talk about? Does she bite on it? My 30sit ups have not been happening, but please make me feel guilty so I start. Sorry to hear about your grim weather. We are due more snow here overnight!

laura - well done on getting through the week. One step at a time. Take the time to get yourself into good shape. Glad to hear you are heading into a happier environment.

bunnymother - lovin' the oatcake recipe, I just don't have any oats in the house. I'm going to 'send out' for some I think.

whenskies - how did the baptism go. Lovely day?

bigcar - thanks for that about grapes. Good to know.

In fact I should perhaps properly explain the sad story of my father's cousin's child who died. They lived in a house just 100 metres from my grandmother' and my aunt, who was a nurse, was home at the time. When the cheese got stuck in the child's throat and they couldn't get it out, they ran over to get my aunt and she raced to the house to try and save the child. But as she put it 'there was nothing that could be done to get it out' and they watched him die. I shall never forget. My grandmother also forbade me to give my children peanuts as she knew a child who died when a peanut got stuck in their throat. I got a large soft mint sweet stuck in my throat when I was young, and it wouldn't come out. My father did the normal things but he didn't realise quite how 'stuck' it was. Then suddenly this look of utter horror and desperation came over his face and he stood me up and squeezed my tummy hard (Heimlich maneouvre I think). Nothing happened. But then he did it with all the force he could muster...and thankfully it came out. I will never remember that feeling of thinking 'I am going to die'. I almost drowned too, so I've been through a few 'lives'. Did you all know that the Heimlich manoeuvre is not recommended on children under the age of 1. I think it is something to do with ribs being too easily broken and puncturing the lungs.

F's fifth tooth came through this afternoon - five since Jan 31st and no. 6 just about to pop through too. He is starting to calm down (and sick up a little less) so maybe six through is starting to relieve the pressure.

On a grim note, have just discovered that our travel agent has never put in a seating request for our international flights and all the bassinets are taken for the entire 26 hour trip. I threw a wobbly this morning and burst into tears when I found it. She didn't even have the balls to tell me, I had to contact the main agent when she wouldn't respond to my emails asking for seat number confirmation. I refuse to get on the flight, so may have to go a day or two later than dh and dd. I cannot see any other solution. F doesn't sleep in my arms, and it's not safe to lie him on the seats, so there is no alternative. Also, a bit large at 8months. He would have happily slept in my arms up until 5 months.

What a post!

llynnnn · 23/02/2010 22:13

Hi all! Remember me? Sorry I haven't been on for such a long time I kept wanting to catch up but have never found the time!!

I've only read the last page or so of posts but will try to catch up properly soon.

Laura - really sorry to hear your sad news. hope you are ok and giving yourself time. x

sorry to hear about the bumps, choking, illness in your little ones. Hope they are all well now

Isobel is doing really well, crawling everywhere and trying to pull herself up on everything! She's not interested in playing with her own toys just wants the bin, remotes, plugs, doors, dd1's tiny toys etc etc! basically everything I dont want her to have!! she has no fear and is forever bumping her head on everything as she tries to crawl through everything in her way!!

I went back to work last week, only part time. Hate leaving the girls and Isobel is really clingy and cried a lot at nursery last week She is only there once a week, loves being with my mum the rest of time. Looking forward to being settled into our new routine and Isobel becoming more confident about going to new people, in the meantime we will keep plodding on!

June - how did C get on at nursery?

oooo, and I 2nd Doris's Vanish recommendation. I use it in every wash!!

Hope to be back very soon and chat much more often

x

Gauchita · 24/02/2010 21:47

Hi all!

Llynn, hi! It's nice to hear from you Hope Isobel finds it easier this week, glad to hear your mum's helping you with her so she has a familiar face some days as well

Venetian, to hear those stories, they're really really sad, but they make you be aware of things and pay attention. We had a minor choking incident this evening, it's SCARY! Sorry to hear things were hard last week at home, but glad to hear you've come to a happy agreement and things are well It's very very hard to juggle things and I find that although DHs can be helpful and supportive (mine helps quite a bit) at times they just take for granted that everything related to the LOs automatically falls on our shoulders. We were talking about this with my translator friend yesterday as she felt exhausted... I'm at your travel agent! How dare she lie (or simply ignore) you... I really hope you can get it sorted so that you can all fly together. I was looking forward to bumping into you and the LOs

June, oohhhh so hope things went well yesterday. Hope she enjoyed playing with other babies

Doris, I use Vanish but the spray, it's good but maybe the powder is better? I'll try it. Resting vibes going your way, poor you with the night shifts. Glad the paycheck gave you a bit of a boost

Hi to all Juners!

Busy days here. Yesterday we walked 6 miles with my translator friend for buggy fit I was so tired in the evening I just passed out after M went to bed Today another friend came over for lunch with her baby, I hadn't seen her since my birthday so it was lovely to catch up. Another driving lesson today after that and I got to second gear today! A bit hard to do it on an uphill (and we have loads of those over here) but I got it.

I booked a two-hour lesson for Saturday and I'm actually looking forward to it as DH will stay with M on his own for the first time eeeever. He'll be in charge of morning snack, lunch and nap, so we'll see...

Off to bed! (God, it's early! )

Waves!!!

bigcar · 25/02/2010 10:31

morning all

june, how did Cs visit to nursery go? Usually tears come at the beginning when you first leave them so Cs having a great start!

doris, are the hours to keep your registration current? Doesn't sound like fun at all. How did the swimming lesson go? I also sat on my fat backside and watched the csi trilogy, I did enjoy it

venetian, I watched that silent witness one, quite scary really as these things do obviously go on. How's the exercising going? I'm trying to get back into doing mine again as it all ground to a halt when I put my back out before christmas and now my hips really ache, not good! Your travel agent is shocking, especially not owning up to making a mistake, have you managed to sort any other arrangements?

lynnnn, big good to hear I is doing well, E is also into every thing now, he loves eating paper, we've got to be so careful Must be nice to be able to go back part time, hopefully I will settle at nursery soon.

gauchita, thankfully this time they were assessing dd3s speech and language delay, a much easier task! Dd3 of course did her usual and looked at them as if they were barmy but these are the things you have to work with in paeds, I think they did ok though. I was a nervous learner too, took me a long time to get on the main roads hope you and dh both do well on staurday My dh is the same, saturday I was upstairs for a couple of hours sorting our heap of junk treasured possessions, when I came down he said E had been a little restless and a bit whingey, turns out he hadn't considered it was past his normal lunch time and that he was actually hungry It hadn't even occurred to him, it annoys me a bit really, if I wasn't there he would have been fine and sorted it Well done on the walking, must be easier to do it with a friend

I went to see the midwife again yesterday, I think it's helped, I was really shaky afterwards and feel a little sick today but at least now I have a much better idea of what happened and when. I think it's just going to take a while to sink in.

must dash, Es calling! Waves to all

venetianred · 25/02/2010 10:55

I have a bassinet now for F so that is a relief. The agent was just overwhelmed, but works for the airline, so has greater ability to 'fix' things thank goodness.
