We've had a breakthrough! M hasn't had any milk since about 3am this morning! I also managed to settle her back to sleep without feeding her! She was screaming her head off and standing up so I gave her a cuddle. When she calmed down I popped her back and just put my hand on her back. It took a while but eventually it worked and she slept another 2 hours! That has never worked before. Plus she has eaten really well today! Hurrah! I am not counting on it happening again tonight, but it is a start.

Hope you're having a lovely day Star & Myjob.

She still hasn't asked for milk, despite being curled up on my lap having a cuddle! Maybe I've broken her!

MamaG · 20/10/2009 15:13

Well done 50ft, have you fallen into habit of feeding to sleep? I have - should know better, but its so easy when you're tired. I keep saying ot myself "one of htese nights..." but I'm a wuss!

50ftQueeniefromtheblacklagoon · 20/10/2009 16:01

I have indeed MamaG! We should both know better, such a rookie mistake. After holiday maybe I'll try getting her to bed without a feed.

The feeding cushion has been hidden away and we have made sure that M can get to her water any time she wants rather than just giving it to her after breakfast/lunch/dinner. Watching her today, I think she's been feeding so much through thirst and then getting full from the milk & not eating.....Ah.....she's cracked! First time in 13 hours she has asked for milk! Got to dash....

lovely day with myjob and N N is such a little doll. She put up with all of Q's bashing patting and throwing handing her toys
myjob has a very clean, lovely home and we messed it up by grinding breadsticks into the carpet
Q had no dinner again. And a couple of bites of sandwhich for lunch. Won't sit in a highchair... . I only offered him water in a cup from when we got in the car until bedtime, too. He didn't even want his milk at bedtime. Totally refused food tonight. I just don't get it. I know he's not wasting away or anything but it's killing me inside that he's not eating! I don't know why!!

Hooray for N!! She may need another night or two of a shortened feed before she drops it completely, but sounds like she's well on her way!

I think the MMR is the second set after they are 1... not 100% sure on that, though. I've been reading all of this stuff about making sure boys get Measles jab separately and not MMR b/c of a small chance... I just don't know if I can risk even a .1% chance of harm... I need to stop reading about this. It's making my head spin!

What does "nowt" mean??? Sorry, I've been wondering this for so long!

Autism is the risk for boys...

50ftQueeniefromtheblacklagoon · 20/10/2009 20:05

Ahhhhh I'm watching Eastenders and Heather's baby is adorable. I love babies. Until they start crying, wanting milk & not letting me sleep.

On that note, M has had two feeds today, including her bedtime one. She wasn't very interested in her sweet potato cakes though. DS and I yummed ours!

Sounds like you had a lovely day Star & Myjob. Glad the babies got along. It's M and the boys tomorrow: she'll be in her element!

50ftQueeniefromtheblacklagoon · 20/10/2009 20:07

Heh heh Star. It's Northern for nothing.

I thought it was an acronymn, like yabu or lol. how is that pronounced? Like "out" with an /n/ at the beginning? or like "now" with a /t/ at the end? or other?

Good for you and M on the feeds, 50ft! hooray! What's in your sweet potato cakes?

star6 · 20/10/2009 20:21

I'm not sure about that brownie tomorrow! Myjob made me a delicious big sandwich AND a yummy lovely chocolate cake today. It was a very yummy cake, btw. sooooo chocolatey!

btw N is a superstar eater. She doesn't make a mess and actually takes bites of things when necessary (Q just stuffs in his mouth when he wants to eat), she sat in her chair without any fuss at all and just happily ate until it was all gone! Q was running about the place climbing onto my lap for the ocassional bite of peanut butter sandwich. You would think he would learn by watching .
She's a clever little thing, too. I witnessed her saying a few words
Q slept almost the whole way there and the whole way back. He loves his sleep... until early morning hours...

50ftQueeniefromtheblacklagoon · 20/10/2009 20:21

The first way.
I finely grate sweet potato, add some egg (I don't measure, just use judgement) and form them into 'cake' shapes and then pat some flour on them. Then fry them in a pan until they are cooked through. They are yum yum yum. I have done them in the oven and they worked fine too.

50ftQueeniefromtheblacklagoon · 20/10/2009 20:24

Oh and I am utterly convinced M said "Here you go" when she gave me her cup. But then I am probably hearing with a mummy's ear.

star6 · 20/10/2009 20:25

Is it enough egg to make it like a sweet potato omlette or is there more sweet potato than egg? I'm going to try making that tomorrow night.
I have never heard anyone say "nowt" before. I would like to, though!! I feel like I don't get a broad enough representation of british english here in Surrey
I've seen it a lot on MN and kept guessing at what the letters stood for... but couldn't sort out the "w".

star6 · 20/10/2009 20:25

oh and do you cook the sweet potato first?

star6 · 20/10/2009 20:26

British and English

50ftQueeniefromtheblacklagoon · 20/10/2009 20:27

The egg is just to bind them together like you would with fish cakes or burgers. I grate the sweet potato finely so it doesn't need to be pre-cooked. We'll have to see if we can share anymore gems of the English language tomorrow.

aubergenie · 20/10/2009 20:31

at "nowt" Star.

Q sounds like S - he also likes stuffing food into his mouth. I've taken to cutting banana into small pieces for him because we've had a couple of episodes where he's shoved so much in he can't breathe properly. He's very dainty with peas and blueberries though and loves to eat them one by one.

Well done on the feeding 50ft!

A question: if S is having a feed from me in the morning and evening does he need cow's milk during the day as well? We've given him cow's milk a few times and I've noticed it makes his nappies really stinky, and I think it's making his mild excema a bit worse.

CantSleepWontSleep · 20/10/2009 20:34

Can't decide which buggy to bring tomorrow. Mountain buggy is easiest to push and for carrying shopping and 'stuff', but mclaren much smaller for pushing round shops. Hmmm.

MM - the moroccan chicken that your dh said he cooked - was it a slow cooker recipe, and if so, can I have it NOW please, as want to bung something on in morning for dinner tomorrow night.

No aubergenie, he doesn't need cows' milk as well, as long as he's getting a good diet.
