I was thinking the same, csws. I think I will bring my lunamix instead of lightweight maclaren because Q is just more comfortable in it and I'm hoping he sits still and behaves himself somewhat!

Aubergenie - I don't think babies at this age need a certain amount of milk each day anymore. I'm not certain on that, though. I give Q oatmilk with calcium added and ricemilk with calcium added because I'm just not convinced about the contents of cow's milk and all of that whey protein for a young child... (and oat and rice milk have been on sale recently ). I let Q have milk whenever he wants it, but don't worry about how much he's taking in because they are supposed to be getting most of their nutrients from foods now (I think).
Q has no bfs and maybe 2 8oz cups of oat or rice milk (with calcium) each day - sometimes less than that.
Big ramble..

50ft can't wait for the lingo lessons I just tried saying "nowt" out loud.

star6 · 20/10/2009 20:43

Thanks for recipe, 50ft. I've never made burgers or fishcakes, so didn't know about the egg thing. I might try to make Q some fishcakes. I recently gave him fish fingers but they were good ones, not as processed...

50ftQueeniefromtheblacklagoon · 20/10/2009 20:44

CSWS - It wasn't a slow cooker dish I'm afraid and the recipe is in DH's head & his head is in South London at the mo!

CantSleepWontSleep · 20/10/2009 20:46

MM. I'll have to google make one up myself then.

I think I'll do the same and bring my Mountain Buggy star.

Q can walk... but he can do "nowt" else.
Does that sound right?

50ftQueeniefromtheblacklagoon · 20/10/2009 20:55

I have a recipe for salmon fish cakes too Star, well DH has. I'll get him to tell me when he's home.

CSWS - You made me panic there with that NOW! I got all flustered! Heh heh! I am bringing the Stokke as M and I would not survive the bus-ride down to Bluewater with her in the Quinny! It's too wobbly and so hard to hold on to when the bus driver tries to kill us all goes fast down hill.

ronshar · 20/10/2009 22:16

Thats just the ticket Star.

I shall bring my only buggy.
DH has given me a shopping list. Typical.

I shall leave straight from school run. Should arrive by 10.30.

See myjob. N is talking. How clever is she.

50ftQueeniefromtheblacklagoon · 20/10/2009 22:23

Ronshar - I have a shopping list too, but it is of things I am restricted to buying.

Pistachio - I hope your little fella is asleep by now. I always feel really hard done by when the dc eat into my evening, even if I do tend to spend the whole time on the laptop. I can handle the trials of the day as long as I get some time to myself in the evening.

Honeymoonmummy · 20/10/2009 23:59

Hey all,

Ee by gum it's a shame I'm not going to BW tomorrow Star as you could hear a "real" Northerner saying "Nowt". Did you understand anything I said at CSWS's house the other week? Very jealous of your meet-ups ladies, have fun!

On the subject of words, Poppy said "Elmer" today - twice! And both DH and I heard it, we were holding up the toy at the time [proud mummy]

Has anyone just watched that prog on baby models on BBC1? One woman was off her head!

Poppy's birthday is getting closer now... She did a lot of (fleeting) standing alone today.

I might start a new thread in BF about that peanut thing.

Hopefully, i'll get a better sleep tonight, slept for about 2 hours last night, had to go back to bed, thankfully DH was off today. He's got his Ofsted thing tomorrow, eek! It's just an internal thing done by an ofsted inspector but he's still v nervous.

Honeymoonmummy · 21/10/2009 00:05

I must try to get on this thread earlier

I've also finished compiling a list of things to buy Poppy for her birthday/ Christmas for grandparents and her godfather. I've done a combo of Amazon and other stuff. I trawled thro different MN threads about "What to buy for first birthday". If anyone wants me to email it to them for ideas let me know.

Honeymoonmummy · 21/10/2009 00:07

Oh how bizarre! I've just noticed the baby on the mini boden advert on this page is one of the ones in that baby models prog!!! Well not bizarre really, it's obviously been done to suck me in.

CantSleepWontSleep · 21/10/2009 07:49

Yay - dh is taking dd to/from school, so I don't have to panic about leaving ridiculously early to allow for traffic and getting back in time to get her! Will still aim to be back here around 4 though.

See you later ladies!

MamaG · 21/10/2009 08:23

HMM I'm going to buy BabyG one of those wooden trolly things full of coloured blocks. He can push it around, pull it, fill it up etc. Other th an that, we'll jsut get what we get

Ekka · 21/10/2009 09:13

Quick question ladies - can anyone recommend a push-along trike (one a bit like this?) I've not heard great things about this mothercare one but dh wants to get ds one a bit like it for his b-day. And we're running out of time - eeek.....

I just baked ds' cake - a tractor cake. The kitchen shop in town has started renting out cake tins - far too good an opportunity to miss.... But I think icing it may be tricky . I should really think these things through properly!

Enjoy your BW meet-up ladies. We're off to our toddler group halloweeen party - toddler group isn't on in 1/2 term so the party is a week early....

We're having a totally manic week, I've not read much of recent posts as we were at my parents this last weekend, but I'll try and catch up soon....

star6 · 21/10/2009 09:31

I'm waiting for a grocery delivery and thenI can leave for bluewater So excited

Ekka we have a push along trike that is nowhere near as sophisticated as that. The trike part just has the same seatbelt as that but doesn't have the plastic bits around the sides (that one looks nice and safe). However, Q has never fallen out of it . He's strapped in, so he's fine - a bit longer until his feet reach the pedals, but not much longer. He LOVES it and we take it for trips to the shop for food all the time We got it second hand for about £20.

Ekka · 21/10/2009 15:51

Oh, it doesn't have to be very fancy star (in fact that one seems quite expensive and faffy). I saw one today, much less fancy, made of metal not plastic, but the mum pushing it had disappeared before I could chase after her and ask what make it was... Crazy, me?

Myjob, sorry to hear about your disturbed night. Is it teething or still the bug that N had?

I would second the comment about 1 year olds (and 2 year olds for that matter - I'm still
miwaiting for the terrible twos to hit)

CantSleepWontSleep · 21/10/2009 15:59

Any of these are good Ekka. You can buy a strap separately to secure them in whilst they are younger.

Just back from Bluewater. Grumpy D is asleep in car and dh has gone to pick dd up - I passed him enroute!

Thanks for a lovely day ladies, and didn't we do well at not buying stuff that we hadn't intended to !

Hi all - remember me??!!

All busy here - off to in-laws for well earned rest and then to Centre parcs in 2 weeks for more rest, well kind of!!

Our house has had armfuls of jabs this week. Joe had his hib/men c and was very brave, i had my first of 3 flu jabs and was not so brave and it made me feel really crappy - 1 more next week and final one in 3 weeks and then Joe has MMR the week after, phew!!

Glad you had a good time shopping at BW
Happy birthday to all those i have missed with my slackness at getting online - will try harder
Hope you are all well

50ftQueeniefromtheblacklagoon · 21/10/2009 17:07

I was particularly impressed with myself! I only spent half my allocated shopping budget which is a miracle! I normally over-spend! I think that must mean that I'm allowed to buy M some new nappies.

Lovely day at bluewater I went the wrong way on the M25 again (this is the 4th time in 2 days for me now... ). It's frustrating because it takes forever for a new exit /junction to appear and then you've wasted a half hour or so. Who thought up this circular highway anyway? How silly! You never know if you're going north south east or west and the city name for direction helps not at all because it's a circle!!! Sorry, it's probably just my appalling sense of direction (hence my saddness when sat nav was stolen!).
I had to go and see about fixing or replacing DH's watch at the fossil shop before going home from BW - and 50ft didn't know where it was! I found it, though and managed to pick up a quick and meaningful present on my way out as it's DH and my anniversary today!! (Just remembered after fossil shop! - oh, happy anniversary to you, too, Rachie ).

myjob - sorry for the rough night I hope it's better tonight!!!

Csws, I find it very hard to believe that D could get grumpy!
These babies are all so cute. I enjoyed hanging out with them today. I do wish the older siblings could have joined us as well .

Ekka I'll look and see which make ours is. It's really fun for Q. Also, look on local second hand deals (if you're not opposed to second hand stuff) as it's usually 1/5 of the price in the shops and always in excellent condition still as kids grow out of stuff so quickly!

I did well not to buy anything other than DH's present today. That's because all of Q's clothes are given to him. I feel very very lucky for that, seeing how much clothes cost. I do buy him the odd piece that we don't have, like I need to find him "wellies" (such a cute name for puddle boots!) and I want to get him a cool toggle coat for winter, but I'm going to wait and see how much he grows first.

CantSleepWontSleep · 21/10/2009 18:02

So ds refused his dinner tonight too (had a few bits of plain pasta in the car on the way home before falling asleep), but has no problem with eating a dishwasher tablet! Have phoned NHS direct and they will allegedly call back within an hour, but he seems to be fine after lots of mouth washing.

Lock is broken on undersink cupboard, and dh seems to think that I'm being unreasonable in saying that we need to empty all of the dangerous stuff out of it tonight .

star - do you not just look for signs for the airports when you join the M25? I find that the easiest way.
