Myjob- I'm really glad N is getting better, I did see your post late last night when I was attempting to catch up again. It must have been so scary for you. I'm so glad she's picking up.

CSWS- Yay for no sickness today. Glad ds is brighter too.

I think November should be a germ free month for us all! Can anyone tell I am avoiding writing my planning?

myjob is that related to your sore breast? Are you sure?

star6 · 18/10/2009 19:36

what time for bluewater? are we doing lunch? Is there a baby friendly place we can go?

CantSleepWontSleep · 18/10/2009 20:01

I should get to bluewater between 10 and 10:30 (prob nearer 10:30 unless roads are completely clear). I'll certainly be there for lunch. Happy to eat out or bring picnic, but if we eat out then obv I'll need somewhere that can do dairy free (McDonalds good for me, though not so good for the babies obv!).

MM - I didn't respond in the end yest about cutting back dd's feeds. Around 11 months I managed to get her from around 9 feeds a day to just 2, in the space of a couple of weeks. I did this by wearing roll neck tops and filling every single minute of the day by going out, and not sitting in the places that I would normally feed her at all, and having lots of snacks and cups of water on me at all times. The number of feeds of course increased again with colds/teething, but it was good progress for a while.

I can be there for 11. McDonalds is not good for me.... I can't stand the smell of it tbh and DH is morally opposed and would be horrified if I went. I know it sounds silly

CantSleepWontSleep · 18/10/2009 20:08

No, I knew you'd hate McD's star - it's ok. It's just one of the few places where I know that I can get dairy free without having to ask about everything on the menu! I'm sure that the locals will be able to advise of good alternatives.

50ftQueenie · 18/10/2009 20:14

Thanks CSWS. That is pretty much what we thought I should do, go out and not sit in the usual feeding place. She only had three feeds today (including her bedtime one) which is a massive improvement. She actually ate her dinner too! I will carry on trying that and see what happens...... Glad D is feeling better.

Yay for DS's birthday. He'll be at school before you know it! Is he having a birthday party? DS always becomes unbearable around his birthday, I hope your ds isn't the same or ugh for you!

I shall be at Bluewater between 10 and 10.30 too. There are lots of places to eat and quite a few do children's menus. We normally go to Leon and they are pretty good about highlighting what is dairy free. Here is the menu. I am not sure about the salt content but last time most of it ended up on the floor, didn't it Ronshar. The babies seem to enjoy the food and it is healthy & delicious. Alternatively, Tootsies do a children's menu designed by (derogatory comments removed with hindsight just in case....) Annabelle Karmel and John Lewis do a babies menu. I don't know how good those places are at highlighting dairy-free and knowing the staff at Tootsies I doubt they'll get what you mean (they are all about 14). Me.....? Go to Bluewater too often? How can you tell?

50ftQueenie · 18/10/2009 20:15

Heh heh! You knew I would have the answer didn't you CSWS?!

star6 · 18/10/2009 20:16

Leon looks good to me

50ftQueenie · 18/10/2009 20:18

DH recommends the meatballs and Star, the sweet potato falafel are delicious! Some appear to be not dairy free because of the aioli, but I am sure they'll be able to do you something without it.

50ftQueenie · 18/10/2009 20:20

I am a Leon pimp!

star6 · 18/10/2009 20:20

Would any of you be embarrassed to be with me if I brought a little something for Q? I'll order something for him, too. But I'd like to have something that I know he'll eat as well, iyswim.
I ask because I recently went out for lunch with Q and another mom and a baby and she thought I should hide the food I brought for him as it was rude to bring it into a restaurant. I totally totally agree if it was food for adults or even older kids... but for a baby/toddler? I really thought this was ok... sorry to ramble on here. Just let me know honestly. This should be an AIBU

50ftQueenie · 18/10/2009 20:21

I don't think they'd mind. I am sure I've seen other parents bring baby food in to Leon. M just gets what she's given and that's it.

star6 · 18/10/2009 20:21

The sweet potato falafel look yummy for both myself and for Q I'm not dairy free, thank goodness. I don't know how you do it, csws

star6 · 18/10/2009 20:22

I could also just give something to him after we have lunch if he doesn't eat what I order for him. He can be really picky about what he will eat sometimes. It's quite frustrating.

50ftQueenie · 18/10/2009 20:33

He might be alright if the other babies are eating Star. DS used to be a pickle about eating but when he was at nursery he would chow down with all the other babies with no problem.

CantSleepWontSleep · 18/10/2009 20:34

Yum yum, Leon it is. This made me smile:

'Roast Mushroom with Plum Tomatoes

For vegetarians, or people who like mushrooms and tomatoes'

I have no problem at all with you bringing bits for Q star. I almost always do the same for D, although largely because of the dairy problem.

I'm very impressed that they say up front which items contain which allergens.

OP posts:
CantSleepWontSleep · 18/10/2009 20:36

MM. None of the desserts are dairy free (which is pretty much the case everywhere), so if you're going to be necking brownies then I must remember to bring a sweet treat for myself!

OP posts:
50ftQueenie · 18/10/2009 20:39

I probably won't have one CSWS, I was trying to fatten Star up a little bit. I will show solidarity with you (plus I really need to start dieting at some point).

star6 · 18/10/2009 20:44

I'm not eating a brownie on my own! But it does sound yummy.... I'll have to convince someone to join me .

aubergenie · 18/10/2009 20:53

I can also vouch for the sweet potato falafel at Leon. Yum!

I've got a food-related question, particularly for those people who did blw. How do you present your dc's meals now? Do you put things on a plate or in a bowl? S is still eating from his highchair tray with his fingers. When I've given anything on a plate it's been hurled across the room. Also cutlery. If I load a spoon for him with, say, yoghurt he'll usually put it in his mouth, but quite often that goes flying as well. When do they start using cutlery? I don't want to worry unnecessarily but also don't want him to end up with table manners like a caveman.

I hope everyone else is feeling better.

How's the hangover Ronshar? I had a thick head on Friday morning so can sympathise. I went out with some friends on Thursday night and got a bit over-excited about drinking champagne in a nice grown up bar rather than slumped on the sofa watching Masterchef.

star6 · 18/10/2009 20:56

lol at caveman table manners aubergenie! We must must must get these boys together. Q can't have cutlery or plates/bowls, either. he can pick up food from a tray or table, but sees dishes and cutlery as toys to be banged or thrown I think it's normal...
unless Q is also abnormal...
