Oh, HMM, x posts, sorry you're so poorly

50ftQueenie · 17/10/2009 21:42

Dioralyte Hmm? You should train her to tend to your needs too while you're ill. Only fair after all. Sorry to hear you're ill. I think I am on my 7th successive cold. Seriously, every time I get better one of my delightful offspring give me another cold. Fabulous.

50ftQueenie · 17/10/2009 21:44

Heh heh heh Pepper. You are very naughty. Poor Star will be having palpitations!

pepperrabbit · 17/10/2009 21:53

Oh, Happy birthday to J! Sorry, I somehow missed that it was today.

pepper! You naughty thing.

I'm off to bed. It's going to be another long night, I suspect.

Get well soon HMM and 50ft and Myjob and anyone else I've missed.

50ftQueenie · 17/10/2009 22:09

Aubergenie - I was going to say wait until S is at school/nursery but seeing as you are in school every day with 30 little germ spreaders. You must have the immune system of a concrete elephant to survive!

Myjob - Still not 100% decided about number three. Everything that Ronshar said caused a problem, were the things that we were worried about! I have hidden the pregnancy, conception, birth announcements & antenatal group threads to help me be more objective.

RachieW · 17/10/2009 22:10

Hello all- I've tried to catch up on the last ten pages I've missed but have failed miserably. Really sorry to hear about all the illnesses. J is still suffering from a very delicate tummy after his bug, really runny nappies but the doctor says it will just take time for him to get back to normal. Is that anyone else's experience?

Aside from that not much else to report, busy week at work blah blah. Dh and I were supposed to be going out tonight for our wedding anniversary but MIL now has our sick bug so we lost our babysitter. Feel very bad for poor MIL and selfishly bad that I've lost my lie in tomorrow! We had a lovely day at Greenwich Park though and J has been on great form despite the exploding bum.

RachieW · 17/10/2009 22:11

Pepper- happy birthday to J

star6 · 18/10/2009 07:58

pepper! I just about made it through the night with my palpitations
Glad J and boys had a great day

50ftQueenie · 18/10/2009 08:19

Well that was a terrible night (for DH anyway). M woke up when we went to bed, so I fed her and when she was finished I kept offering more as she is a pickle for saying she's finished then wanting more. She was pushing me away so she was definitely finished. Let her settle, popped her in her cot, she woke herself up and started crying. DH and I discussed whether we were going to put her in bed with me or ride the storm & let her cry for a bit. We decided to take a stand and I slept downstairs. [feeble] Apparently M screamed, and I mean screamed not cried, for about an hour before finally giving in. DH was reassuring her and she knew he was there but she wasn't impressed.

Glad you managed to get through the night Star.

50ftQueenie · 18/10/2009 08:21

Oh hello Rachie! Sorry to hear about your sickness and missing out on your anniversary night out. It's our 5th anniversary in a few weeks but we will be doing a big fat nothing. M is too much of a nightmare to leave with anyone, even my mum. Ah well, we've already planned to go somewhere fabulous for our tenth anniversary.

star6 · 18/10/2009 08:37

Sorry to hear about your night 50ft. I hope M cries less tonight and even less tomorrow night. Soon, she'll settle herself We had to do this with night wakings, too. We're in the middle of it now... can't wait for it to be over!!

I hope you and Poppy are feeling better today HMM

ronshar · 18/10/2009 08:43

So while I have been away busy with the Prime Minister all kinds has been happening

Star I shall not say a word. But maybe it was deliberate

Myjob, oh my poor little N. I hope she gets better quickly.

Hmm, you wont be bear hunting more like loo hunting. Get better soon all of you.

CSWS, how exciting number three already.

Aubergenie happy birthday. Sound like your DH may be feeling a little left out

Happy birthday to Alex & J.

W is a bit better now still has a nasty cough but the congestion seems to be coming out via his nose now.
It is my dads 60th b'day today we have the whole family coming round. AARRRGGGHHH. I have to make a cake. My cakes are shit.

I also have a hangover I didnt mean to have one but Budweiser chased me down all night.
Hello to everyone.

ronshar · 18/10/2009 08:47

Rachie, how horrible for you. Are you going to be at work tomorrow or are you on half term yet?

50ft. How are your sinus's? Most gps will prescribe anti b over the phone for recurrent sinus infections. M is a little monkey. Have you considered burning the cushion

W has dropped his bedtime feed. He does even look for it now.

star6 · 18/10/2009 09:12

and for you about the bedtime feed, Ronshar. And I'd feel sorry for your hangover... but, budweiser?? Try making a cake from "the book"

Can someone give me a quick like, 2 line summary of MMR vs singles? I've been doing so much research and talking with experts, it's doing my head in.

star6 · 18/10/2009 09:16

And happy anniversary Rachie Ours is on Wednesday. Funny that a lot of us have anniversarys in same month as babies 1st bday

star6 · 18/10/2009 09:17

oh dear
same month as babies bdays. Of course not just their 1st bday
I'm seriously considering csws' suggestion of namechanging to AStarShortofaConstellation

pepperrabbit · 18/10/2009 10:12

DD is till asleep! I'm just going to wake her up - birthdays must be sooo tiring!
star, you do make me laugh

RachieW · 18/10/2009 10:57

Morning all! MM sorry to hear you had such a hard night with M. We had to leave J to scream a while back, it was heartbreaking and incredibly stressful but I have to say it worked after about 3 nights. Do you think she's just got herself into a cycle of this or is it her cold and teeth?

Ronshar I've another week to go until half term Am sooo looking forward to it. J is back at Nursery though, there was a point last week that I thought they might exclude him because of his nappies but I've told them what the doctor said and they've let him continue. I really don't think he's contagious just a bit fragile! Dh and I actually had quite a nice night last night, he cooked steak and we watched Strictly. Maybe I'll aim for a night out on the 10 year anniversary too

Star- Our actual anniversay is Weds too so snap I'm no expert on the MMR but my understanding is that the concern was over the triple vaccine and the possibilty that it was linked to autism. This research now seems to be widely discredited. There is supposedly no risk with the single vaccines however they are expensive and now very difficult to find. My friend's boss went down the single route and has apparently only been able to get two of the three so her 2yr old is now unprotected against mumps. Sorry that is more than 2 lines!

50ftQueenie · 18/10/2009 11:57

Ronshar - Sinus feels better today thanks. My favourite dr has gone to the states for a year (he should be back soon though ) and he was fabulous. I used to go to see hi, tell him what was wrong with me and then tell him what I needed him to do. So when I had an ear infection I would tell him and then ask for antibiotics & when my cyst returned I told him and said "so I'll need a scan for confirmation". He just used to say, "ok" and do as he was told. Yay! Hope your hangover goes soon. I haven't had a hangover for.......oh lord, about four years! How boring am I?! Oh and cake..... Have you got two round cake tins? If so, to make an easy sandwich cake you need 10oz butter/soft marg, 10oz caster sugar, 5 eggs and 10oz self-raising flour. Put them all in a bowl, whisk them up with an electric whisk so that there is loads of air in it (it gradually gets lighter as you mix the air in), then split the mixture between the two tins and pop in the oven at 180 degrees. Once the cakes are in the oven, don't open the oven until the cakes have risen or they could go flat. It is cooked when the top is springy to the touch and bounces back after you press it. It isn't very sophisticated, but it is easy & yummy. I did this recipe for M's birthday cake and put jam & buttercream in the middle. Yum yum yum!!!

Rachie - I think she's just a pickle, although I am wondering if maybe she's a bit cold at night. She is in her warm grobag and is in a bodysuit + babygro, but she always seems a bit chilly. DS hated being warm so we're used to having a chilly baby. I am going to invest in some velour (mmmm....nice!) babygros to see if that helps. She isn't under the weather and teething seems to have calmed down. I think she just doesn't like not getting her own way. Hope poor J gets his strength back soon!

Star - You are fast becoming the thread loon!

50ftQueenie · 18/10/2009 13:29

Oh and can someone please remind me on Wednesday to collect an order from Next. Thanks!

RachieW · 18/10/2009 15:00

MM- it's interesting that you say about M being cold at night as I think that was why J kept waking in the middle of the night a couple of weeks ago. We ended up putting the heating on in his room, used a thicker tog on his gro-bag and put him in a thick baby-gro. I also try to put a blanket over him but he rolls around so much it never lasts. Anyway he does seem to be sleeping better now so maybe it was that. I remember when he was a newborn and we brought one of those gro-bag thermometers as we were so paranoid about him overheating. The bedroom was freezing but the "correct temperature" according to the thermometer. Then my Mum noticed how soundly he slept in his pram in the day when we wrapped him up for walks so we boxed up the thermometer and cranked up the heating

CantSleepWontSleep · 18/10/2009 15:25

Just on v quick as inlaws already overdue.
Ds is improved today - no sickness and only 1 lot of medicine given so far for high temp.

How are you and P today hmm?
