Linus takes 4 6oz bottles a day still. BUT. more often than not he doesn't finish them. Very often he will only take about 3oz. Some days he wants more!

I have given up worrying about it to be honest. I always offer him 6 and if he wants it he has it... if not, well, I figure he knows if he is hungry or thirsty better than i do.

I think it evens out though. because on days when he has all his bottles he'll be having about 24oz! so it makes up for the days when he only has about 12!

it's just one thing after another with them isn't it???? lol

futurity · 24/08/2005 11:24

He still has b/f from me in the morning so can't tell how much he has then...in the afternoon he will take about 7 oz which is fine but the bedtime one is the difficult one at the moment..he has taken 6oz without complaint but last night took us forever to get that down him..he woofs the first bit so quick at first I think he gets tummyache. I will try another beaker tonight I think. I think he is getting the pint though as I mix milk with stuff and he has yogurt and cheese.

Hazellnut · 24/08/2005 12:19

I agree on the not worrying front about the milk - if they are eating well then they must be getting the added vitamins that are in milk and as SL says, they know if they are thirsty/hungry..... but its all such a palaver isn't it !!

OP posts:
starlover · 24/08/2005 12:29

doen't stop you worrying though does it?
this is what our entire lives will be like now! it's milk and sleep right now but soon it'll be school/parties/eating vegetables/girlfriends or boyfriends etc etc etc

FOREVER!

Hazellnut · 24/08/2005 12:43

yep !! My Mum still worries about me and I'm 30 so I guess it just never ends !!

Tipex, my ds weighs about the same as yours. Tiny babies are great, every one thinks they are younger and therefore so advanced.

Haven't tried ds in our backcarrier yet but dd always used to love it - its a good view up there, and they can steer with your ears.

We're off camping this weekend so I'm hoping ds doesn't keep the campsite awake at night. And when we get back we're starting solids. He grabbed his dad's beer this evening, I think he might be ready for a rusk or two.

Hazellnut · 24/08/2005 22:38

DD another midget here ! Haven't had her weighed for almost 4 weeks but she's about on the 9th Centile. Will get her weighed on Fri and just check what they say about the milk as she had a 5 oz feed followed by 2 oz with her weetabix, 2 21/2 oz feeds and a 1 oz feed on going to bed which can't be right really but... am going to make sure she has her solids way before she is due a milk feed tomorrow to see if this helps. At any rate, I worried today she's not getting enough fluid but as we said earlier, guess she knows when she's thirsty and not !

We have got a back carrier too but haven't used it yet. Think we will give it a go this weekend as it could be useful on hols.

Went swimming again today - she loves it sooo much...

Have just put dd down in front of the mirror and like Linus in that photo SL is fascinated but keeps trying to grab 'the other' baby's foot and hitting the mirror !! She's now talking to herself - v. cute !

Nik72 · 25/08/2005 12:17

I reckon the mirror photo is Linus's cutest yet!! I'm sure the March thread girls have set up a message board to put their babies photos on but I don't know how to go about it, it'd be a nice idea if anyone's computer literate enough!

Have a second hand backpack but when we tried it a few weeks ago she hated it. Am going to have to try again as she's getting pretty heavy in the baby bjorn, despite being another midget at 14lb14oz last week. I've spent the morning making purees for when I'm back at work. Was debating making her vegetarian but made a chicken one to try, I have to say I think it tastes vile myself......probably lack of salt I suppose.

fruitful · 25/08/2005 13:16

Starlover - I'm not going anywhere near your thread on "why can't I get reward points for formula". . Thought it might be safe to reply here... If you switch to follow-on milk, you can get tescos/boots etc points on it, and buy it with your boots points, because they're allowed to "promote" milk for babies older than 6 months. (the cynics say that was why they invented follow-on - so they can advertise the brand name). But your baby might not like the extra iron.

starlover · 25/08/2005 13:20

haha fruitful! actually it has stayed reasonably restrained so far...

it actually is not linked to the whole milupa hoo-haa at all... although i suppose that's what made me think about it.

debating on whether to try linus with the follow-on... may as well if it's free because it would be nice not to be spending £7 a week on milk! but we did have trouble finding one to suit him to start with that i am kind of loathe to change it now!

bless you all with your "midgets".Linus was weighed about a month ago and was about 19lb! I keep forgetting to go along again and get him done. he is on the 75th for weight and the 98th for height!

roosmum · 26/08/2005 09:34

humph. i just wrote a long post & lost it! thought i'd pressed 'post' & some ELC advert appeared, with no sign of post.

no energy to retype!!
but it said, basically.....here goes
hello hazellnut & sorry to read abt dd's tumble, which i hadn't noticed due to inefficient skim-reading!

thanks to all mummies for suggestions of things to do! can't wait to get to sign classes in little while...if they're still running here, which afaik they are...

main question - what do your babies have for breakfast?? roo is seriously bored with weetabix, doesn't like porridge & feeding him toast takes forever...any other ideas???

take care all! & sorry for rubbishness of post, the other one was much better stupid computer, stupid tired roosmum (roo still doesn't sleep that well - wakes twice a night anyway - can you tell??!)

gossifer · 26/08/2005 14:45

starlover · 26/08/2005 17:14

My little gourmet had tomato & basil puree yesterday so presume they're OK. Couldn't be bothered doing the whole blanch/skin/deseed malarky so used tinned plum tomatoes.

For breakfast she has fruit puree mixed with milk & baby rice. Haven't tried anything more exciting as she's not quite 6 months yet.

Tipex - what do you do with the spagetti - do you just chop it up into little bits or blend it? You must be shattered with the broken nights - do you manage to get any kip during the day at all?

starlover · 27/08/2005 17:45

tipex, linus is vegetarian so not meat or fish here either!
we have tried tomatoes. i just got some nice plum tomatoes and blanched them so the skin comes off easily then quartered them and just squeezed the seeds out. chopped them and cooked them with a little bit of mixed herbs and tiny bit of olive oil. then i pureed it with some carrot! made a nice sauce to go with pasta and he really enjoyed it! no adverse reactions to the tomato either.

we also do red lentils although too much makes him a bit poo-ey! again i just boil them for about 20 mins with some herbs. i don't bother pureeing them as they go quite mushy anyway

gossifer · 27/08/2005 17:48

starlover, that tomato sauce sounds yum, been giving leon pasta and parmesan and he loves it, will try yours!
gosh they do well don't they?

gossifer · 27/08/2005 17:54

leon on the move! can wriggle backwards out of the room!!
anyone else have little ones on the move?
kinda happy & sad altogether

starlover · 27/08/2005 17:54

ooh he likes parmesan? haven't tried linus with that yet. he isn't too great with dairy things at the mo so just taking it slowly.
he still has formula with his weetabix in the mornings

starlover · 27/08/2005 17:55

yes! also moving around SOOOOOOO much now!

and this morning has managed to go from on his tummy to sitting up! he was more surprised than me i think!!!

he gets up on his hands and knees and kind of shuffles a bit and then goes splat on his tummy again! bless him

gossifer · 27/08/2005 17:57

wow, well done linus!!! big round of applause, bet he was confused
leon gets on hands and knees and rocks back and fore, bit like he's doing exercise, gets a bit bit frustrated though....

Hazellnut · 27/08/2005 20:30

Oh wow all these babies on the move !! DD not quite crawling yet, gets up on to all fours and sort of pushes herself small distances and has today learnt how to escape from her play nest which is head first after a toy !! I am sure she is meant to be a boy - she seems to have no fear (either that or is stooopid !!)..

All the good recipes sound good. We have also done tomatoes mixed with milk and a bit of flour so it comes out a bit creamy and its lovely - am going to adapt it for us ! Have also done lentils with veg. Am going to do a bolognese tomorrow (apologies all you veggies !!). Also going to do pasta with spinach and philadelphia....

Starlover - I got my skip hop bag this morning and I love it BUT I don't think it will be big enough for your requirements (reusable nappies 'n' all)... which is a shame cos its ace.
